Question about Director Flash Components's TextInput

Hello,everybody! I used the Flash Components's TextInput in  Director 11.5,but there was a problem that when the TextInput in edit status the cursor is missing. And the TextInput still can be edited !  I want  when the TextInput in edit status the cursor shows. Please give me a hand, how to solve the problem. Thank you very much.

Yeah, this is the new 10.3. It installs a Preference Pane in Other in Sys Prefs. You can select a number of settings there. I basically allow it to do as little as possible, except for the update notification.
In storage, I would select "Block all sites from storing...." (That's the option to disable "Local Shared Objects," Adobe's cute euphemism for cookies. Until now, they have been hidden away in the Macromedia folder in your home folder>Library>Preferences where I've locked everything up, after trashing the Macromedia folder and getting a new one after visiting  http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_man ager07.html)
I can give you instructions for doing that. Post back if you want them. Not sure how effective the new Pref Pane is, especially now that I see it reset the default of "Allow sites to save...." and all the defaults. Maybe it only sticks from an admin account and I recently started running from a standard account, while using an admin account solely for authentication. I will have to look into that.
Definitely turn off Camera and Mic. In Playback check "Block all sites...."

    >>1.Can adobe flash use web services?
    Yes
    2.How does adobe flash handle the back button or bookmarks?
    It doesn't, but you can use SWFAddress to do just that. Works
    great.
    3.Can adobe flash interact with javascript on a page? Like
    call a
    javascript
    function and pass it XML as a parameter?
    Yes.
    4.How does adobe flash handle asychronous post backs?
    All net calls are asynchronous - you can use
    LoadVars.sendAndLoad or
    remoting... I like AMFPHP for remoting.
    5.Can flash interact with cookies or store information on
    the users
    computer
    which the flash file can interact with?
    Yes - you can use a server-side language like PHP to set
    cookies directly,
    or use Flash's built in cookie like feature: The Shared
    Object
    6.Can a adobe flash file be created dynamicaly on the

    this I mean
    can the information and images and menus the flash file will
    display be
    pulled from a database and dynamically generated per user?
    Entire flash sites can be dynamic - it's what I do... I use
    PHP / AMFPHP and
    MySQL to build dynamic flash content.
    7.I've read somewhere a while back that google was trying to
    make flash
    files serchabe so that they can be listed on googles search
    engine. Is
    this an easy implementation or can only professional flash
    programmers
    accomplish this?
    Easy is a relative term... the best way right now is to use
    SWFObject
    (Google for swfobject seo) - essentially you build an html
    site inside the
    Flash's <div> so the spiders will see the alternate
    content.
    8.Whats the learning curve for learning adobe flash, if I

    If you have experience programming the curve will be
    smaller... but there
    are lots of elements to absorb. And no matter what, you
    always have more to
    learn.

  • I have a question about Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta for Mobile.

    Hi everyone. I'm newbie at forum , if I opened this topic to the wrong place ; please , excuse me I'm an HTC HD2 user. And I noticed that ; Flash 10.1 support to the Android OS had come to HTC Google Nexus One , with "Froyo" update. I watched some videos at Youtube , about "Open Screen Project" (that Adobe leads) . And Adrian Ludwig(at Flash team) was using HTC HD2 and showing the Flash 10.1 at phone. I'm thinking that , if he used Flash at HTC HD2 , then there must be a release for phone too. I'm not sure , it's very important for me. Thank you , for your answers. Have a nice day.

    Whoops, my bad.  Didn't note that HD2 is WinMo.
    As I understand it (and I am just a consumer, not official in any way) - the intention is to get 10.1 on every device possible, including the iPlatform if Apple ever decides to change their mind (HA!).
    As for the status of WinMo currently, I am not sure about that.  I know 10.1 is being tested on Blackberry, Palm, and Android for sure, but I don't know what Microsoft has been up to, considering they have their own competing tech at stake here too...
    If I had to take a guess (and it would be a guess) I would say that the highest probability is 10.1 on WinMo7 devices, though I have no information to back that up, its just a guess.

    hi Chris951,
    For the PowerDVD, is the image below the same error that you're getting?
      - Link to picture
    If it is, can you try the following:
    1. After running the Power DVD 10 BD installer, close the error message and navigate to the C:\Drivers\PowerDVD 10 BD folder
    2. Right click on Custom.ini and choose Edit (this will open Notepad). From here, look for the LEGEND Dragon entry and change it to Lenovo then save. When finished, run the setup.exe and PowerDVD should now install successfully.

  • Random question about the flash player

    Hi, to make this question simple... I was wondering if the
    flash player could somehow be hindered by windows vista?
    I ask because I have a laptop running Vista, and a Linux box
    right next to me, and I dual boot Ubuntu on my laptop. When I test
    my application on the Linux boxes, they run exactly as I have
    programmed them. The only machine where my application gets screwed
    up is on the Vista OS. I started to think that maybe Vista screws
    with the flash players ability to function, could that be possible
    or even true? I mean, I think SilverLight is a competitor of the
    Flash Player, so I guess that's where my conspiracy theory comes
    from. Any thoughts or input? Yes there could be a bug in my code.
    I'm iterating through the display list and applying "x" tweens to
    them, moving them all to x = 5. some of the display objects don't
    make it to coordinate 5, and so go beyond. I attached part of my
    code that moves the thumbnails. you can view it here on the web:
    kurtcom.com/actionscript3/PhotoProgram.swf

    The camera is the object called camFrame in the FLA. It is
    shaped like a rectangle. Simply copy the camFrame to any other FLA
    and it will work. Note that it will base its measurements on the
    Stage size in your new FLA. So the camFrame should be resized to
    the Stage size (e.g. 550 x 400) to start with, and then resized
    proportionally.
    If you apply a tint to the camFrame, it will tint the entire
    scene. Thus, you can do a neat fade-in by applying a black 100%
    tint to the camFrame in frame 1, and then removing the tint in
    frame 20 (for example) and applying a tween.

  • Basic question about part-flash websites

    Okay, so really basic stupid question:
    If I'm making an html-based site with flash elements (like a
    table of contents, header, etc), then how do I avoid having to
    reload the movie every time I go to a new page? Ie, if I have a
    flash contents bar, then won't the user have to click to restart
    the movie in order to go to a new link every time it loads, which
    would translate to every new page that the file is embedded into?
    I know I must be missing something obvious, but I'm not sure
    what it is :-) I'm working with a template that does this right
    now, and it's really annoying-- how do well put together sites deal
    with this question?
    Thanks!

    have the buttons load the page into a frame, so the page
    doesn't need to 'refresh'.
    EX:
    my_btn.onRelease = function(){
    getURL("myContentPage.html", "myContentFrame");
    my_btn2.onRelease = function(){
    getURL("myHomePage.html", "myHomeFrame");
    and so on...

  • Question about Director

    I am wanting to make an interactive photo album. I want a
    main menu that will have each family member, then when you click on
    it, it will take you to the pictures and you can scroll through
    them, by page, and you can click on them to make them larger.
    Can this be done with Director? If not, could you suggest a
    program.
    Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hi Nim,
    You could very easily create an application in Director for a
    photo album effect.
    In fact, I've created many myself. However, with everything
    in Director, you'll
    need to design the look and feel yourself from scratch and
    you'll have to program
    all the interactive elements. Director does not come with
    templates for 'typical'
    applications.
    For photoalbums, there is other software designed
    specifically for this purpose
    that simplifies the process. I'm sure if you search 'photo
    album software' in
    Google, you'll come up with a few. One web based photo album
    program is JAlbum:
    http://jalbum.net/
    It's free and is quite a nifty application.Very easy to use.
    You can choose a
    template, point to a folder of JPGs, and in seconds, it
    generates web-based
    interactive slide show of the images based on the look and
    feel in the chosen
    template.
    The advantage of a program like JAlbum is that it is much
    faster to create your
    application as you have a predefned structure to work with.
    The disadvantage may be
    any limitations of that structure.
    So, your choice is to use Director with the advantages of
    - total control of the design of the application and how the
    inetractivity will
    work
    - can include complex interactivity with the only limitations
    bases on your own
    knowledge
    - can create sophisticated multimedia applications beyond
    photo-albums
    - is extremely powerful
    Disadvantages
    - Because it can do so much, can be difficult to learn
    everything quickly
    - Is not cheap if you're just getting it for a one off
    purpose
    Anyway, hope that answers your question.
    If you do go into Director, it is a great application, and
    there are lots of web
    resources to help you get started, including my own tutorials

  • Question about BIOS flashing

    I am about to use MIS Live Update to flash BIOS 1.4 to my motherboard. First, is this a bad idea, or are there safer ways of doing this procedure? (to use live update instead of other methods?)
    Second, it says 2. Please Disable the item (BIOS Protection) In BIOS Setup first. (Depending on mainboard). Does the K8N Neo Plat. have this option? I can't find it in the manuel or bios setup.
    If there are safer methods, anybody have and good sites I can read about it?

    @tscenter:
    I partly agree with you about floppydisks enduring for nearly 2 decades: I can remember myself going up and down my friends house for at least 10 times when I was young, because floppy with .a02 .a07 .a12 .a13 .a17 and a24 of an ARJ file had CRC errors on it! So I think floppy endured only because there was no better alternative (and don't tell me ZIP-drive was a good alternative, because how many poeple do you know who actually use this for non-business data swapping?)
    Anyhow...
    I just booted with USB-FDD (Win98SE bootdisk) and copied the needed files for flashing to 1.55 beta onto my only FAT32 partition.
    Flash procedure went okay, but I lost my nVidia NIC in Windows... Well at least I couldn't get it to receive an DHCP offer from my NAT/router. I got a strange looking  160.x.x.x somewhat IP with netmask 255.0.0.0    So I quickly flashed back to the official 1.40 (and NO commandline switches after AWFL833C.exe)
    I used this guide by syar2003:
    Quote
    Remember :
    Enter bios and load optimized default + save/exit , before flashing .
    Do the flashing to 1.55 with AWFL833D W7030NMS.155 /py/sn/wb/cc/cd/cp/f/r
    Enter bios and load optimized default , and save .Important .
    Boot once again after this without any changes/editing in bios to floppy prompt and let the dmi pool build and update itself.
    Then boot/edit bios set your individual bios preferences.
    (see: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=59711&sid=)
    Does the /wb switch that syar2003 adds to the commandline freak-up my nVidia NIC (or it's MAC for that matter?)?

    You can't add the same GUI object to a Container multiple times. The problem is with your design. Consider something like this:
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.awt.GridLayout;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
    import java.util.Random;
    import javax.swing.Icon;
    import javax.swing.ImageIcon;
    import javax.swing.JButton;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    import javax.swing.JPanel;
    public class DieLabelTest {
        private Random rand = new Random();
        private final JLabel[] dies = new JLabel[6];
        DieLabelTest() {
            JFrame f = new JFrame();
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            JPanel diePanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(3,0,5,5));
            for (int i = 0; i < 6; i++) {
                dies[i] = new JLabel();
                dies.setIcon(DieIconProvider.getIcon(rand.nextInt(6) + 1));
    diePanel.add(dies[i]);
    f.add(diePanel, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    JButton rollButton = new JButton("Roll");
    rollButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
    for (int i = 0; i < 6; i++) {

  • Newbie question about directories

    Hi,
    I've written an applet that will be built into a website. It will be used by multiple users that require different fuctionalities in this applet. However, many utilities are generic. The generic utilities (classes) are located in a separate directory (I never want to change those) and the specicfic classes are located in specific directories.
    Now the applet (JApplet) itself is located in the specific directory. How do I access in the (applet) code the classes located in the generic directories?
    Am I making any sense?

    I believe you can use the codebase attribute to the applet tag to say where the classes are. However, it may be easier just to make one or a few jar files containing all the relevant classes.

  • Questions About "Usable" Flashed GFX Cards vs "True" Mac Designed  Ones

    Hi guys I figured that this would be a good place to try and clarify my problem. I want to get a nice ATi card to upgrade my MMD G4. For the few games that I play the machine is showing its age and while yes I know a whole new computer would be the ideal choice it seems reasonable that going from the dinky stock 64MB card to a nice performance 256MB card would help a great deal.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Mac-ATi-Radeon-9800-XT-256Mb-Video-Card-G4-4x-G5-AGPW0QQitemZ260267585968QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260267585968&_trkparms=72%3A392%7C3 9%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12&trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1318
    I see things on eBay like this often and several searches on this forum tell me only part of the story. It sounds like flashing these PC cards BOIS will give you a card that will function on the Mac system and give full support for the Core Image and Animation on the OS but it is not clear to me if a card like this would have full support in a game like World of Warcraft.
    It something like this a safe buy to consider? Do any of you have one of these cards and could comment on it's performance? I would be ok dropping $150ish for a nice card but not one that just give me a boots to the graphics in the OS. It would need to work for the game as well.
    Any direction is appreciated.

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
    A flashed card, especially the ATI cards, simply is removing the Windows ROM and replacing with a full Mac ROM.
    Geforce cards often require a modified ROM, because the ROM for Mac version Geforce cards is larger than the ROM chip on PC version cards.
    Even with the reduced ROM, and especially with ATI cards, the flashed version becomes a Mac version. All features and functions are available, and full OS compatibility is present.
    Of course, one of the main reasons for graphics upgrades is gaming. With flashed cards that have a direct Mac edition cousin, with very few exceptions, there is no difference to the game or OS regarding a "true mac version" and a flashed version. Function is identical. With ATI, the only exception is the X800, which functions normally, but only via the VGA port. There are some Geforce exceptions, with the 6200 being the most notable, having limits on OS support.
    The linked card is a good performance choice. The linked cards seller is very reliable, and does an excellent job of prepping the cards. They work. Highly recommended.
    One caveat of using flashed cards, though not a problem, is PC cards are all pretty much 8x AGP compatible, backwards compatible to 4x AGP. However, Apple created the ADC capable G4's by using then unused pins to power the ADC port. If an 8x card is installed without modification, the machine appears dead. Nothing will happen. the easiest, and least destructive work around is to tape the #3 and #11 pins on the card. Once done, a 4x AGP G4 will enjoy the power and performance of the new card with no ill effect.
    How and Why to Disable Pins 3 and 11 on AGP 8x cards in your Power Mac G4

  • Answering my own Question about installing flash player on an Ipad

    I need to access certain sites for my job whilst out on location. I realised my Ipad couldn't get Adobe Flash Player, so I looked around for options.
    For anyone else who needs a fix, here's how I can access all the web pages I need:
    Install - and pay for - Splashtop. Then set it up (easy) with any "always on" laptop or desktop.
    You can then remotely access that desktop from site and see any web pages on your Ipad. You can access any files on the desktop and, even better, you can type in web addresses from the Ipad and view them live.
    There is a small monthly fee for roaming, but it's bugger all really and well worth it for me!
    Hope this helps some of you.

    Apple also recommends SkyFire as a browser when you must view Flash content. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/skyfire-web-browser-your-path/id384941497?mt=8
