Question about distribution resource planning in pp module

hi, my all respected sir,i want to ask question as below
1) what do you mean by distribution resource plannning and what are steps occour in this planning?
2) what is the difference between drp and mrp?
thank you , all of you
ok by

Hi,
Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) is a method used in business administration for planning orders within a supply chain. DRP enables the user to set certain inventory control parameters (like a safety stock) and calculate the time-phased inventory requirements.
DRP uses several variables:
the on-hand inventory at the end of a period.
the backordered demand at the end of a period.
the required quantity of product needed at the beginning of a period.
the constrained quantity of product available at the beginning of a period.
the recommended order quantity at the beginning of a period.
DRP needs the following information:
the demand in a future period.
the scheduled receipts at the beginning of a period.
the safety stock requirement for a period.
the on-hand inventory at the beginning of a period.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a software based production planning and inventory control system used to manage manufacturing processes. Although it is not common nowadays, it is possible to conduct MRP by hand as well.
An MRP system is intended to simultaneously meet three objectives:
Ensure materials and products are available for production and delivery to customers.
Maintain the lowest possible level of inventory.
Plan manufacturing activities, delivery schedules and purchasing activities.

Hi,
Distribution Resource Planning
Purpose
Distribution resource planning provides a framework for determining the need to replenish
inventory by:
Linking market requirements with manufacturing and demand management
Relating current inventory positions and demand forecasts to production scheduling
Matching material supply to manufacturing demand, and customer demand to product
supply
Process Flow
1. You define all nodes in the network including plants, distribution centers (DCs),
warehouses, and stock transfer points using the Distribution Network tool.
2. You set up the material master record for each node. In MRP 4 of the material master
record, you must define the deployment strategy for each material (the fair and push
distribution options) as well as deployment horizon (push horizon). For the push horizon,
enter the number of days for which the system considers the ATD quantity and any
additional quantity produced. Any quantity produced beyond the push horizon is not
considered in the deployment calculation.
3. To calculate an available to deploy (ATD) quantity, use the availability check rule, DE, in
Customizing, u2018Carry out control for availability check.u2019 The availability check and the
deployment checking rule, determine the MRP elements that are used to calculate the
ATD quantity.
4. You create a forecast for each DC; for example, a sales forecast.
5. You transfer the forecasted data to Demand Management. The system creates
independent requirements.
6. You perform a DRP run in each DC and in each supplying plant. The DRP run considers
the quota arrangements defined in the network, available stock, sales orders, and
independent requirements.
The DRP run in the DCs creates releases for stock transport requisitions in the
supplying plants.
The DRP run in the supplying plants creates planned orders for production.
7. You convert planned orders into production orders for manufacturing.
You run deployment to produce stock transport orders for distribution of stock from the supplying
plants to the DCs.
Hope you are a bit clear now.
Still not, refer the following link for easy understanding. Its given with simple steps and examples,

7. You convert planned orders into production orders for manufacturing.
You run deployment to produce stock transport orders for distribution of stock from the supplying
plants to the DCs.
Distribution Requirement Planning :
Generates stock transport requisitions between locations.
Accounts for time-dependent safety stocks when the replenishment stock is calculated.
Initiates planning runs in a net change procedure or in a regenerative planning mode
Deployment
When demand is greater than supply, deployment calculates a fair share quantity based on the available-to-deploy (ATD) quantity and requirements in the distribution centers to be supplied.
When supply is greater than demand, deployment calculates distribution of stock using pull or push logic within the distribution network according to planned requirements.
Generates stock transport orders from suggested orders in the DRP plan.
Prioritizes quantities supplied based on requirements types (customer order, forecast, and safety stock).
Multi-Sourcing Using Quota Arrangements
Lets multiple plants supply a percentage of the material required by a single location, which makes it possible to prioritize the deliveries made by plants and to specify maximum delivery quantities for particular time periods.
Represents simple capacity constraints, and combines the percentage-based and maximum quantity approaches.
Lets you establish minimum, maximum, and rounding profiles for lot sizing within the network.
Lets you change the distribution network at future dates.
Lets you offset delivery times for specific items from the sourcing location to the replenishment location.
Single-Sourcing Using Special Procurement Keys
Hope this above details will be useful for your requirement .

• Distribution requirements planning and distribution resource planning

Hi,
In PP, is there any difference between the distribution requirements planning and distribution resource planning?
The glossary shows that they are different.
I am trying to understand the SNP DRP. Which one of the above correspond to this SNP DRP?
If there is anything like PP-distribution requirements planning, can some one please refer me any documentation.
Thank you.

Hi Kedar ,
Pls go through

• Distribution Resource planning

What is Distribution Resource planning ? Please explain me with few examples?
thanks in advance

Hi there,

Distribution resource planning provides a framework for determining the need to replenish
inventory by:
• Linking market requirements with manufacturing and demand management
• Relating current inventory positions and demand forecasts to production scheduling
• Matching material supply to manufacturing demand, and customer demand to product
supply
Process Flow
1. You define all nodes in the networkincluding plants, distribution centers (DCs),
warehouses, and stock transfer pointsusing the Distribution Network tool. See
2. You set up the material master record for each node. In MRP 4 of the material

DE, in Customizing, ‘Carry out control for availability check.’ The availability check and
the deployment checking rule, determine the MRP elements that are used to calculate
the ATD quantity.
4. You create a forecast for each DC; for example, a sales forecast.
5. You transfer the forecasted data to Demand Management. The system creates
independent requirements.
6. You perform a DRP run in each DC and in each supplying plant. The DRP run
considers the quota arrangements defined in the network, available stock, sales orders,
and independent requirements.
• The DRP run in the DCs creates releases for stock transport requisitions in the
supplying plants.
• The DRP run in the supplying plants creates planned orders for production.
7. You convert planned orders into production orders for manufacturing.
You run deployment to produce stock transport orders for distribution of stock from the supplying
plants to the DCs.
Running DRP
Purpose
In DRP, during the net requirements calculation, the system compares available stock and the
scheduled receipts from the supply source with planned independent requirements and incoming
sales orders. If there is a material shortage (available stock is less than the quantity required),
the system creates an order proposal.
The system calculates the quantity recorded in the order proposal (in the form of a requisition)
based on the lot-sizing procedure you specify in MRP 1 of the material master record.
The system also schedules the order proposal. Delivery and release dates are determined from
the transport time and time associated with goods receipt processing.
The system can process DRP for the whole supply chainincluding the production plants. DRP
includes production and purchasing into the planning process for the production plant.
Prerequisites
In order to perform a DRP run, you must:
• Set up a distribution network, including identification of quota arrangements and lead
times.
• Define MRP parameters in the material master record for all the materials in the
distribution network.
Process Flow
1. You schedule the DRP runs for your network in the same way you would schedule an
MRP run.
2. You perform the DRP run:
– A DRP run on one material is the same as single-item, single-level planning in the MRP
run. Because the deployment plan involves finished goods, there is only single-material,
single-level planning of individual materials without explosion to lower levels.
– A DRP run on one plant is the same as total planning in the MRP run. Single-plant
planning involves planning all the materials in a certain location that are relevant for
requirements planning.
– A DRP run using mass processing allows you to process several locations at once so
that the whole supply chain is planned.
3. You use net change planning to plan only materials that change relevant to distribution
requirements planning since the last planning run (for example, change in a sales order
quantity or date). Net change planning improves system performance for large, complex
distribution networks with many materials. If a material is changed in a way that is
relevant to the planning run, it is given a net change indicator, and included in the next
planning run.
Performance can be improved even further by using the change planning within the
planning horizon. Only changes relevant to requirements planning that fall within the
user-defined planing horizon are included in the planning run. To keep the planning
results up to date, perform a total planning run regularly (weekly or monthly).
for planning. Regenerative planning is performed in the implementation stages.
4. If you are using mass processing, determine the sequence in which the series of DRP
runs must be executed.
Result
The information resulting from the DRP runs includes purchase requisitions and scheduling
agreements. Use these to plan how to supply the distribution centers in your network. The DRP
run in the DCs creates releases for stock transport requisitions in the supplying plants. A DRP
run on the supplying plants creates planned orders for production.

• Questions About Verizon EDGE Plan???

So, me and my guy went into what we thought was a regular Verizon Store to ask about combining our accounts to save some money (we are engaged). My guy was having major issues with his Pantech Maruader and the sales person convinced him to get on the EDGE plan and get a Samsung Stratosphere II (he wanted a keyboard smartphone). I asked about when we could combine our accounts and he said any time. He suggested we do it on the 1st of next month though so the bill won't be huge. Well, I called up Verizon today to try to get a quote again since I had forgotten. They told me and also told me I didn't have to wait to get my guy on my plan. So I proceeded on the website to try to "add a line" and it wouldn't let me. We called customer service and they said an EDGE plan couldn't get under a non-EDGE plan and there was this"assumption of liability" phrase getting thrown around. I said I accept the assumption of liability and they said they still couldn't do it. If I wanted to connect to HIS plan I could but not vice-versa.
So I have heard all these different things and stories. And I wonder if he can just pay the balance off the phone and quit this EDGE plan and go back to the normal plan he had before, I believe the MORE EVERYTHING plan? Another guy at the "Verizon" store said we can't combine the accounts and that the EDGE plan just came available two days before he got the new phone and the plan. This was March 12, 2014. He also stated that they were very uninformed about the EDGE plan as employees and that the "Assumption of Liability" bit was told to them last week.
But from what I'm reading up here is that EDGE rolled out August last year???? So did I just get blantantly lied to so I wouldn't go off on the guy? I didn't act angry towards him or anything just went in there asking what were th options so we can combine our accounts. I want him under my account cause my job discount is bigger than his. He also stated that we could just pay off the phone and there would be no early termination fee and he could go back to his regular plan...then transfer to myaccount, is this true??
Please someone shed some light on these questions!!

We tried to go into the Verizon store on N. Main St. in Suffolk, VA. yesterday to pay off the phone balance and get out of the EDGE plan, do the AOL and get him under my plan. The Rep said we couldn't do that until it's been 30 days since he signed up for the plan. That will be on Saturday, but she said wait until Sunday just to make sure. So AGAIN I am getting a run-around. I am tired of this situation. Does Verizon not want $335 out of my pocket immediately?? I will be printing out this conversation and bringing it to the store again today. Also, I hope you are a real representive and not a robot, since the other store told me the other responses from a chat I had on this site was from a robot and basically blew off any of it's answers...
The original store btw is on Portsmouth Blvd. in Chesapeake, VA. They "state" they are an authorized Verizon dealer but they are NOT an official store. The REAL name of the store is WeRWireless and the address is 4300 Portsmouth, Blvd. #196, Chesapeake, VA. 23321
The store I will be going to tomorrow will be Verizon Wireless, 1202 N. Main St. #200, Suffolk, VA. 23434.

• Question about running explain plan

I tried to run explain plan for a simple query, just to familiarize myself with how to do it. (I have another query that's taking a long time, and I've never run explain plan before). I got an error, googled it, and discovered I had to run the file at @%ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\utlxplan.sql first, to create the Plan_Table. Well, I tried to run that file and I get the error that I don't have priveleges on the tablespace. This really doesn't surprise me, as my access is read-only. Is there any way around this? I don't know a whole lot about databases, so forgive me if these following questions are dumb, but...
1) is that file basically trying to create a table (called Plan_Table) within the schema I'm in (the only schema I have access to)?
2) can my company's DBA run that file for me to create the Plan_Table?

What version of the database are you on?
You can get run-time execution plans from V$SQL_PLAN. You will need permission to read the V$ views. First find your query in V$SQL_PLAN (you can do a text search; putting a comment in like '--my_query' can help), then join to V$SQL_PLAN to find the query plan that that query used - join by the ADDRESS and HASH_VALUE columns.
Otherwise, see if you can get insert/update/delete access on just that one table when your DBA creates it
Good luck.

• OIM: AD Forest - question about IT Resource

I want to do a trusted reconciliation with multiple domains within the same forest (parent and child domains). The 9.1 version of the conector documentation mentions using the Lookup.AD.Domains lookup group along with GCADITResource, but I'm confused about this GACADITResource.
When I run my AD Trusted Recon task, am I supposed to give it this GCADITResource or the regular, ADITResource?
Also confused about wether or not I need multiple copies of the ITResource, one for each domain.
If someone could clarify this, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks very much
Alex

I just need to perform trusted recon against all the domains in the forest. I'm not provisioning to AD anything. I only need a few basic attributes, first, last, distinguishedName. Not even doing passwords, as OIM will be protected by OAM.
When I configure the GCADITResource, do I specify the server name as ANY DC in the parent domain, or specifically the Global Catalog (not even sure if that is a dedicated server).
I clarified my own question from above, the answer being that you DO have to specify the new GCADITResource as the IT Resource in all Scheduled Tasks if you want to use cross domain functionality. Now I'm just confused as to what server is specified. The documentation says:
"While specifying values for the other parameters, ensure that the values are specific to the parent domain credentials." so I'm guessing I put the hostname of the parent domain DC but with the Global Catalog ports, ie 3269 (non ssl)
Has anyone done this before?

• Question about Distribution

Hello,
I do not know where to ask this, or if I should call Apple directly. Hopefully some of you here know the answer. What are the rules for distributing songs developed by GarageBand? I mean what do I have to do in order to allow people to download the song in MP3 format LEGALLY?
I like doing things the right way, and I always worry about licensing/distribution rules.

I can fully release it as a standalone MP3 file or whatever format though? Will the 20 loops alone let me do this, or do I need to modify each individual loop making it sound unique?
Here is a project I did a couple of years ago: http://www.phstudios.com/projects/TowerDefense/Audio/GarageBand%20Project.png
I can release something like that in MP3 format commercially (I wont sell it, but it is part of a game resource)?

• SAP DRP (Distribution Resource Planning)

Dear All,
I have gone through the SAP DRP help. Can somebody explain with one example about DRP, where it is useful and how to process DRP in SAP PP. Any config settings to be done, How to set up distributuon network and How Deployement to be executed. Your help will be highly appreciable.
Thanks & Regards,
Ramagiri

Hi ,
There is a config under Prod--> DRP-->Basic setting-->Main assignment of node type-plant. here you can define Plant as B-Distribution center. There is no significance of this config.
Since you need plant to hold stock , Distribution center will be a plant object with node type defined in above config( Or you can implement MRP area , if you donot want to create more plants)
Either way ,
You have setup stock trasnfer between Plant(DC) & Plant using special procurement type(F-40) & system will generate Stock transfer PR which can be converted in Stock transfer PO
You can set up multiple key 41,42,43,44 for each plant(DC) pointing to differenet plant(Mfg)You can use this key in material master of Plant (DC) to define which plant will supply this material.
SAP MRP run is also deployment , it will plan Stock transfer PR based on demand entered on Plant(DC)
Hope it helps,
Jatin

• Question about destination parameter in RFC function module

Greetings,
For execution of RFC function module such as MD_STOCK_REQUIREMENTS_LIST_API on local server, the destination parameter is not required or it can be DESTINATION 'NONE'. I observe that the second option is much slower than the first option. My question is why the second is much slower.
Thanks,
Hung

I've tested it with se37 by leaving RFC target system blank or filling it with 'NONE' , I saw 53000 microseconds versus 45000 microseconds.

• Some questions about sharing resources, eg via dropbox...

Experts-
I see that one way to share all topics with another RH user is to open the Topics List pod, select all topics, then drag the lot to Resource Manager (eg, the Dropbox folder therein). Is there a way to add images and other non-topic files in a similar way, or do I need to dive into each directory in project files, then select-drag the files to Dropbox?
Is there a way to configure RH such that all new files that are added to a project are automatically copied to Resource Manager so one doesn't have to remember to do this manually?
Is there a way to share resources other than files in the Project Files folder, such as TOC definitions, Index defs, Glossary defs, and the single-source layouts? I see that I can't drag these items to the Dropbox folder. The idea is to be able to have other writers recreate the project on there systems. (Perhaps I'm missing the purpose of Resource Manager. Perhaps duplication of entire projects is best performed using a CMS.)
Thanks!
-Kurt

Sharing topics was not designed for sharing whole projects and that approach will not get the files into Dropbox in the same folders. See the Rh Tour on my site.
What I would do is put the whole project into Dropbox. It is then on your local drive and that of anyone else who is going to access it. This does not permit simultaneous access, you still need source control for that. Also you have to be wary of your Dropbox and that of others being synchronized.

• Question about multiple resource objects using the same OID target account

In Oracle Identity Manager 11g with OID connector as a target system.
Is it possible to create multiple resources that use the same OID IT Resource. Each resource is responsible for provisioning certain OID attributes of the same OID account. For example 'OID User' would provision the basic account and a separate resource called 'Department1 User' would provision attributes not provisioned by OID User.

Yes, definitely. Here is how it would work:
- You would have to make sure that the resource OID User always gets provisioned first, so that the account exist when these additional attributes are being set for the user via the other resource Department1 User. You can do this with Resource Dependency in OIM.
- Now for using the same IT Resource, just create the new form and in the IT Resource type form field, map the properties to the same IT Resource Definition, so when the Provisioning Process gets invoked it uses the same IT Resource instead.
Thanks

• More questions about iphone family plan - second line regular phone

I am planning to switch from a verizon family plan(2 phones) to att family plan with 1 3g iphone and one regular phone.
I will get the iphone and my wife won't
what is the best free phone to get from att ?
and how can i do this in apple retail store? they don't sell other phones right?
don't want to go to att store because they usually out of stock of iphone...

I would say your best bet is to go to an apple store and buy your iphone. Apple stores do not carry any other AT&T phones, and AT&T stores do not have many free phones. Once you buy your phone register online with AT&T and add a line there, they have tons of free phones online and ship second day air.
