Question about domain name/JSP, servlets

I have a web host which publishes my pages, say www.zzz.com. I want to use JSP/Servlets on my machine which is using Apache Tomcat. Here's the problem, if I link a JSP/Servlet from www.zzz.com, the user will see my IP, i.e. 37.28.18.102/servlets/Calculations
Is there a way where the people's browser's URL text field will always be www.zzz.com even if the page is located on my server?

Try using Frameset where top frame is always www.xxx.com and child frame can be anywhere

  • Question about domain name and .mac

    my wife and i are going to move to London and we want a website to update people. now it would be a lot easier to say, "oh, just go to www.domainx.com". (with domainx being whatever domain we buy) rather than saying, "oh go to mac.homepage.iweb.ilife.joseph.page1.com" or whatever massive name they choose. now i would like to publish to .mac because of what they allow you to do. is there anyway i could buy domainx.com and when they go to domainx.com it will send them to my .mac published site. i hope you understand the question. i don't want to be limited by domainx.com but i want the luxury of that short domain name. any help would be amazing. thanks so much!

  • Question about Domain and Host name fields.

    Hello! Just a quick question, I currently have the Mail Server up and running although I'm a little unsure about what exactly needs to be entered into the users email application.
    I've tested POP and IMAP using the information that I entered into the "Domain Name" field, and into the "Host name" field, and everything worked great.
    Example:
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.example.com
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.example.com
    Although while setting up another site and including the normal mail setup via DNS I've also noticed that I can send and receive email by using other sites that belong to me, as long as they are pointing towards our server.
    Example:
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.mynewsite.com
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mynewsite.com
    So, I guess my question is whether its bad to use other websites in the incoming and outgoing mail server fields, or should I stick to the incoming and outgoing sites that I have listed in the Mail Server's 'Domain Name' and 'Host Name' fields?
    I hope that made sense, thanks again for your help.
    Paul
    PowerMac G5, Xserve G5, and PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Does it matter if our users type mail.example.com
    into the incoming mail server, or are they allowed to
    use their own domain name "mail.mydomain.com" as long
    as the DNS is setup correctly?
    There is no intrinsic 'meaning' to hostnames entered into the mail client. These are merely converted to IP addresses, using available dns, and then the mail client communicates with the IP address, using whatever port number is applicable for the service required (e.g., port 25 for smtp, port 110 for pop). So you could use the hostname woohooo.mydomain.com for the smtp or pop server, as long as it resolves to the correct IP.
    This enables laptop users to have the one smtp/pop hostname, with lan dns resolving it to the local private IP and ext dns resolving same hostname to wan IP.
    There is also no need to have two separate hostnames for pop and smtp. These are typically used by ISPs because they have separate servers doing each job - one doing pop, one doing smtp. If one server does both (and there is no likelihood of splitting the services later) then just the one hostname for pop and smtp is fine.

  • Question about Domain file size...

    I have a dot Mac account, and my iDisk capacity is 1 Gb.
    As I regularly back-up my Domain file from my G5 iMac to a FW external drive that sits on my desk, I have just noticed that the file size is now just over 1 Gb.
    Can someone please explain to me why I still have almost 700Mb left on my iDisk, yet my Domain file size is over 1 Gb?? Obviously, there must be 'internal' files that aren't copied to the iDisk.
    Thanks,
    Rachel.

    Wow, that's quite a discrepancy. 1gb Domain vs. 300mb site? Well suffice it to say that the Domain file contains all the information that is needed to generate your site. But it makes me curious too why you have such a large discrepancy. Do you have a lot of video on your site?
    My site is only about 50-60mb and my Domain is roughly the same size. When I first started using iWeb, I used to poke around inside the Domain file quite a bit more than I do now. You can open up your Domain file by Control-clicking it and selecting "Show Package Contents." At one point early on when I was blithely dragging and dropping stuff into iWeb and publishing just for experimentation, I noticed that even after I deleted images or EVEN WHOLE PAGES, that sometimes the Domain file would still contain images and quicktime movies left over from the deleted pages. I didn't know what was going on and actually tried to delete the "old" items from the Domain file, but I ended up with a non-functional Domain file...lots of error messages saying it was missing this and that. So I started over completely with a new Domain file. I also noticed at the time that my Domain file was several megabytes larger than my site.
    Since then, I have been very careful only to drag items to iWeb that will actually be used. The Domain-to-site size ratio has stayed pretty much 1:1. So I chalked up my earlier experience as a fluke. I don't know. Maybe there is an inconsistency somewhere. In fact, do a search here on "Domain file optimizing" or "Domain file bloat" and you may be able to find my questions about the issue. I never did get any responses, though.

  • Newbie question - Changing domain name from .local

    Hi, I'm trying to change my domain name from dns.local to dns.domain.edu. Can someone help me with this. The server was already set up and some places it has:
    dns.local and other places is has dns.domain.edu. when i type in dns.domain.edu into a browser it works. when i type in dns.local i get an error.

    Leave the .local alone. That is your Bonjour access name.
    Bonjour is also known as ZeroConf in the Unix world, and is how your Mac discovers other Macs, Mac file servers, and Mac print servers on your local network (also know as a subnet).
    You can add search domains via
    System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> DNS -> Search Domains -> [+]
    A search domain is where you can enter 'fred' and the name lookup will look for fred.local, fred.domain.edu assuming both .local and .domain.edu are provied as search domains.
    As to other people finding your via dns.domain.edu, that is up to the domain.edu name servers, and their administrators. Your Mac does not establish that, unless they have a dynamic DNS updating service.
    To have a DNS name in a domain, your DNS name must be registered with the domain server that owns that domain name. That is not automatic.
    In this case if you have not already been assigned dns.domain.edu by the domain name and fixed IP address by the owners of domain.edu, then you cannot just take the name dns.domain.edu. If you have been assigned the name dns.domain.edu and a fixed IP address, then you would set that up in System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> TCP/IP
    At best, if domain.edu allows the DHCP servers on campus to both assign an IP address and also create a dynamic DNS name in domain.edu, then you might get a name like
    college-name-192-168-27-232-subnet-12-dorm-name.domain.edu
    A very creative and memorable name
    If you cannot get the domain.edu administrators to give you dns.domain.edu as an addressable name, you can go ahead and get a dynamic DNS name from a service such as No-IP.com or DynDNS.org (free ones are available), and just run one of their dynamic DNS updating utilities on your Mac so that when your DHCP IP address changes, your dynamic DNS name is updated with the new IP address as well.
    A dynamic DNS name service such as the 2 I just mentioned, will give you a fixed name such as fred.dynamicDNSnameService.net that will not change, and when you run an updating utility on your Mac, the dynamic DNS service will keep the fred.dynamicDNSnameService.net updated with the every changing DHCP assigned IP address.

  • Question about domain

    Hello,
    My question is: does the domain contain 100% of the information in an iWeb file. e.g. if i put it on iDisk as a zip file, my friend then unarchived it, opened it on his computer, did work on the website, put it back up on iDisk and replaced the old domain with the new, improved version. When i opened it again, would I see it just as he left it, with all media and everything.
    A reply would be greately appreciated
    THanks again
    Sir

    Yes. And you can try it out if you want. I did.
    And there's no need to make a a zip file.
    Mount your iDisk and double-click the file.
    It's rather slow on opening and saving the changes.
    For demo purposes I signed up for Dropbox.
    It works instantly.

  • Question about having name for 5 Ghz network

    The subject title sounds stupid, but the question is straightforward. Do you tend to give your 5 Ghz network a different, separate network name in your Airport Extreme? In the "Wireless" options you are presented with the choice to give the 5 Ghz network a different name, thereby giving you the option to connect to the 5 or the 2.4. Is there any benefit to this? And if you don't give it a separate name, to which frequency does your computer automatically connect?

    I think most users tend to use the same network name with "5 GHz" added to indicate which band they are using. The idea here is to simply identify the 5 GHz band, so Apple adds the "5 GHz" by default unless you change this yourself.
    The benefit to assigning a separate name to the 5 GHz band is that you can "force" a computer to connect to this band. Surprisingly to many users, this can also be a negative (see information below). Or, if you plan to "extend" your wireless network with an AirPort Express, you can choose to extend either the 5 GHz band or the 2.4 GHz band.
    If you don't assign a separate name to the 5 GHz band, your computer will automatically connect to the signal with the best combination of strength and low noise.
    Because 5 GHz signals are absorbed by walls, ceilings and any other obstructions much more quickly than 2.4 GHz signals, your computer will likely connect to the 5 GHz band when it is the same room as your wireless router or it has close to line-of-sight with the wireless router. Once you are a few rooms away, or down the hall and around the corner, your computer will likely connect to the 2.4 GHz band because these signals "travel" better.

  • Question about Http Transaction in Servlet

    If I want to use the http connection to send some data to the servlet.
    But not all the data are encoded in English (maybe some are in Chinese), then how can I set do it?
    This is because when I use request.getParameter("some parameter name") and the value of this parameter is in Chinese. Then the string is not properly encoded.
    Do I need to set the CharacterEncoding to support unicode?

    First make sure that data you are sending over is encoded in UTF-8 by setting the encoding of the html form to utf-8.
    Then is your servlet do that following
    before getting any parameters form the request object call
    request.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8");
    then get the request parameters as usual.
    request.getParameter("parameter name");
    That should do it. By the way this should work with any character encoding just make sure they are consistent between you html form and what you set in your servlet.

  • Dumb question about Thread Safety in Servlets

    Hi all
    I wrote this Client API for sending requests and receiving responses to / from a multivalue database. The API is called by my Servlet. Now it seems my API is not thread safe because when several people open up the servlet at the same time, the API gets totally confused. When the API calls are inside a synchronized(){} it works just fine, but obviously at a big performance hit. Is that the wrong way of doing it??
    However when I was doing the ACID test locally on my machine, by opening two command prompts and excuting the same java program (with the same code in it as the servlet, but standalone) my API worked just fine. How come?
    Any insights appreciated as I am just learning about thread safety now (the hard way :-( )
    cheers
    Dejan

    Does this help
    Are you using one connection to the database shared by all instances
    of your servlet
    And is this connection create in the init method of the servlet and stored
    in the servlet context.
    Problem 4 people try and use your servlet at the same time, each servlet trys to
    create a connection to the database and then store it in the servlet context and
    this causes a problem.
    Solution create a listener to create the connection and store it in the servlet context
    when the servlet is created.
    If this is your problem it is not advisable to use only one connection to the db
    try using db pooling

  • Question about variable names

    k, so I have a for() loop that I want to take the value of String fs1 through String fs21 and add them in that order to a String fs. So, my question is, can you do this in a loop? you can do it in PHP, and that's what I'm accustom to.
    this is kinda what I want to make
    String fs = "";
    String fs1 = "foo";
    String fs21 = "bar";
    for(int i = 0; i<22;i++)
         fs+= (the variable "fs" plus the number of "i", so like fs1, fs2, fs3. . . fs21);
    System.out.println(fs);

    I think you want to use and array and be careful about using += that way.
    StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer();
    String[] fs = new String[2];
    String fs[0] = "foo";
    String fs[1] = "bar";
    for(int i = 0; i<22;i++)
         buffer.append(fs);
    return buffer.toString();

  • Question on domain name impact on email address

    All,
    I am setting up a new Exchange 2013 server to replace an old GroupWise server. Forgive my ignorance but I am new to Exchange.
    My AD root domain is like this "LHISD.WATER.TX.NET". The Edir is set as "WATER.TX.NET"
    So with our GroupWise Server a users email is like
    [email protected] Can I use the same format even though the Exchange server is in a root domain called "LHISD.WATER.TX.NET", or am I stuck with
    [email protected] ?

    Yes you can have them. This can be acheived using accepted domain in Exchange 2013 server as WATER.TX.NET
    Find the below url on how to create accepted domain in Exchange server 2013
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657734(v=exchg.150).aspx
    Create email address policy and add the newly created accepted domain in it. When you are creating new user you  can able to get email address as  [email protected]

            } catch (Exception e) {

                return;
      }your help is greatly appreciated

    It's not that you can't create a table at runtime. You can execute an UPDATE with CREATE TABLE in it.
    I'm saying that the string you're passing in as the table name probably contains a lot more than just the name that you think it does. Print out that string before you execute the SQL and see what it has.
    You're reading a serialized object stream. That has a lot more stuff in it than just the table name. I'm guessing that the SQL engine is seeing all that stuff and having a problem with it.
    This code can create tables:
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DatabaseMetaData;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.ResultSetMetaData;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    public class TableCreator
        public static final String DEFAULT_SQL  = "CREATE TABLE TEST(NAME TEXT(80))";
        public static final String DRIVER       = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
        public static final String DATABASE     = "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=c:\\Edu\\Java\\Forum\\DataConnection.mdb";
        public static final String USERNAME     = "admin";
        public static final String PASSWORD     = "";
        public static void main(String [] args)
            try
                String tableCreationSQL = ((args.length > 0) ? args[0] : DEFAULT_SQL);
                String driver           = ((args.length > 1) ? args[1] : DRIVER);
                String url              = ((args.length > 2) ? args[2] : DATABASE);
                String username         = ((args.length > 3) ? args[3] : USERNAME);
                String password         = ((args.length > 4) ? args[4] : PASSWORD);
                Class.forName(driver);
                Connection connection   = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);
                Statement statement     = connection.createStatement();
                statement.executeUpdate(tableCreationSQL);
                statement.close();
                connection.close();
            catch (ClassNotFoundException e)
                System.err.println("Couldn't load JDBC driver class");

  • Question about Domain | Muse as Subscription (not a Cloud Member Yet)

    Hi everyone,
    right now I have Muse bought on a basis of a "yearly subscription".
    I was wondering if this includes a hosting option via Business Catalyst? Or do I even have more than one possible  hosting option?
    And where do I find these settings in my Abobe account?
    Best Pink

    Your Muse subscription includes virtually unlimited free trial sites on Adobe Business Catalyst plus hosting for one site using the "webBasics" hosting plan on Adobe Business Catalyst. There are tutorials on using Muse at http://muse.adobe.com/tutorials.html and one specifically for "Launching A Muse Site To Push It Live". You can also upload Muse created sites to other hosting providers using the built-in File > Upload To FTP Host... feature or by using File > Export as HTML... and then using a separate FTP application for uploading.
