Question about Draytek Vigor 2850vn max sync

Hi all, Accidentally lost the first message I had finished typing, didn't post successfully. Anyway, Infinity is near (one of those new green fibre cab's just appeared next to the PCP I should be connected to) and I wanted to ask if anyone knew whether the Draytek Vigor 2850vn is limited to 50mbit sync on VDSL/Infinity? Some places I found on Google mentioned that but I am uncertain if it's true. If it's not true then I'll be ordering it on dabs hopefully before the cut-off time, as I can use it to temporarily replace my Draytek Vigor 2820 router and use it on ADSL until Infinity is ready for my postcode. Many thanks.

Go to Solution.

Not sure if this helps but I emailed Draytek a while back about this - they replied Jan 19th so things may have changed:
"I am thinking of replacing the modem supplied with my BT Infinity connection and was wondering whether the 2850n/vn would be suitable.
In the description you state that "The Vigor 2850 is a variant of our Vigor 2830 series with the addition of a built-in interface which supports both ADSL/ADSL2+ and also VDSL lines (such as the BT Infinity™ service) for connectivity up to 50Mb/s"
My question is about the "connectivity up to 50Mb/s" part. Currently BT infinity is an "up to 40Mb/s" connection but there will soon be an upgrade to "up to 80Mb/s".
Would the 2850n be able to support this speed or is 50Mb/s the maximum it will support? In fact what is the maximum VDSL speed that the 2850n and 2750n support?"
The reply was:
"Both the 2750 and 2850 support these VDSL profiles: 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a, 30a
The units can connect at high speed profiles however it just hasn't been tested
on those. The actual internal maximum possible rating does exceed 50Mb/s
but right now we're using a conservative official maximum speed."
I didn't buy one in the end!

  • Newbie question about setting up iTunes to sync across multiple computers

    Hi,
Right now I am using iTunes primarily for listening to streaming radio. However in about 2-3 weeks after I move, I am considering importing all my CDs into iTunes.
So my question is this. What can I do before I start that will make my life easier for syncing my iTunes across multiple computers.
I don't expect the computers to connect to each via internet but I do have a 4 GB flash disk and 230 GB firewire drive that could be used. And since one of the computers is MacBook Pro, I could use it in target mode I think.
    Thanks.

Authorization only applies to computers. When you update a device any protected content on the device for which the library is not authorised will be removed. Otherwise no attempt is made to remove content that was added by a now deauthorised library.
There is a separate scheme permitting up to 10 devices (computers, iPhones, iPad or iPod touches) to be registered for automatic downloads of your purchases with a different mechanism for deregistering devices.
Once you have a file on your computer you can physically copy it to any other computer in the same way that you would copy any other file like a Word document, put it on a disk, email it if not too large, burn it to DVD, stick it on an external hard drive or move it over a network. You can use Get Info. To tell you where it is now and you can drop it into the library at the other end.
The user tip shows how to backup the whole library and then update that backup efficiently. Such a backup to a portable drive also provides a possible tool for transporting any content to another computer.

  • Question about future of push email & syncing with Mac and PC on iPhone

I have two questions that I've tried to get answers from at two different Apple Stores, but I get many different answers - so I thought I'd give it a shot here.
    1) I understand that push email is coming in the 2.0 software release this summer - but will that only be for Microsoft Exchange customers? My small business uses DreamHost (a private mail server company) that runs postfix under Debian Linux and supports Courier IMAP...our IT guy told me this, I'm not sure what it all means - he's a PC guy...
    2) Can I sync my iPhone to my Entourage Mail & Contacts from my Mac AND sync my iTunes from my PC? Is this a bad idea?
    THANKS!

What happens when you try to sign in with the new account on your phone?  Any error message?

  • Some questions about configuration in MAX.

    Hello,everyone!
I have some questions about configuration in MAX(I am a jackaroo for motion control development),I hope I can get your help.
    I use PCI-7344+UMI-7764+Servo amplifier+Servo motor,my MAX version is 4.2 and I use NI-Motion7.5
    My question as following:
    1,In Axis Configuration,for motor type,why I must select stepper but not servo?my motor is servo motor!If I select Servo,my motor can't run,I don't know why.
If I select stepper, though motor can work but I can't test encoder in MAX.
    2,In Stepper settings,for stepper loop mode,why I must select open-loop but not close-loop?If I select close-loop,the servo motor doesn't work too.
3,If I want my two servo motors run at different velocity,How shoud I do?It seems I just can set the same velocity in MAX for my two servo motors.
My English is poor,Pls pardon me!I come from China.

    Hi,Jochen,
Thank you for your kindly help!
The manufacturer of the drive and motor that I am using now is Japan SANYO DENKI,drive type is RS1A01AA,motor type is R2AA06020FXP00.
And I use position control mode, thehe encoder's counts per revolution is 131072.I set the electronic gear ratio to 1:1 for drive.
Now,I can use Close-Loop to control the motor but still has some problems. When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position. When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position. The detail situation is as following
    1,Motor can't run.
2, Or motor moves to a position, then moves in the same direction agian and eventually stops.
Except for the  two points mentioned above,"Following Error" is  occured frequently,I don't know why.
I am still not clear why I must set the motor type be stepper in MAX .
And I have another question:what the relationship between the steps and the counts? They have the proportion relations?I notice that there are a section said like this in help document: For proper closed-loop and p-command operation, steps per revolution/counts per revolution must be in the range of 1/32,767 < steps/counts < 32,767. An incorrect counts to steps ratio can result in failure to reach the target position and erroneous closed-loop stepper operation.
I am verry sorry I have too many questions!
I am very appreciate for your kingly help! Thanks again!

  • Question about ICloud. Do I have to back-up my iPad and iPhone4 b4 sync with iTunes?

Question about ICloud. Do I have to back-up my iPad and iPhone4 to iCloud b4 sync with iTunes? Last time I synced iphone4 with iTunes, I updated to 5.0.1 when I connected, but it wiped my calendar entries. I had to reset to the last date I had synced (4months ago). So my question is... Now that I have iCloud, should I back up both my iPhone and my iPad before I sync with iTunes?  And will all the data from iPad, iPhone, and computer all merge when the iPad and iPhone are synced?

    It does not matter.

  • Few questions about syncing

    Hi,
I have a few questions about syncing. Since this is my first iphone and apple product, I'm not familliar with it. My mother bought the tomtom app for navigation. And she said that it has 3 uses (for 3 different devices). Now the app is in her library on her computer. So if i try to sync with her library, it will erase all my previous apps. How come? Also I'm planning to use a laptop in college so I'll have to sync it with that.
What should I do to keep my apps?

All 3rd party apps - paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the app. This is required by 3rd party app developers to prevent people from stealing from them with paid apps. If not for this, you could pay for and download the TomTom app which is not cheap and all your friends and family members with an iPhone could install the app on their iPhone without paying for it, which in effect is stealing.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library on the same computer, but in regards to all iTunes content - music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.

  • Newbie question - general question about e-mail sync

    Hi,
I have a general question about email sync and BlackBerry smartphones.  Are there any devices that allow email syncing with a Microsoft Exchange 2007 system that do not require the BlackBerry Enterprise server?
Thanks; sorry if this has been asked before but I was unable to find it in the forums, documentation, etc.  Everything I found assumes that for this kind of environment you will be using a BlackBerry Enterprise solution, but I can't assume.
    Thanks again.
    Solved!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
If the Exchange server has anything that faces the internet (OWA, POP, IMAP), then BIS can be used to handle email (only email...calendar and contacts require BES to sync OTA).
Or, a PC, inside the network (but with an internet path) and logged into the email server (using Outlook), can be left running, using the RIM Desktop Software's Desktop Redirector capability to forward  messages to the BB.
    Those are basically the options.
Hope that helps! Let us know!

  • It does not cover my question about in what order does the sync work?

It does not cover my question about in what order does the sync work?
Does the first signed on computer copy its information to the cloud?
Does the second computer/pad/cell then download the information from the cloud overwriting the information on the second device even if some of the information is different?
What happens to the information on the second device that is not in the cloud?
If you delete a record (eg a bookmark) from the second device how does it then delete it on the first device?
What are the keys to the different types of information?

Hi I have answered you questions inline below:
Does the first signed on computer copy its information to the cloud?
Yes when you first set up the account or when you first add a device to the cloud, if it is not the first time, it will merge with the other data
Does the second computer/pad/cell then download the information from the cloud overwriting the information on the second device even if some of the information is different?
By default it merges. There is no option to change this.
What happens to the information on the second device that is not in the cloud?
It will sync at the next sync interval if that data is selected to sync.
If you delete a record (eg a bookmark) from the second device how does it then delete it on the first device? What are the keys to the different types of information?
It resolved the entry the next time the first and second device syncs. Can you elaborate on the second part of this question?

  • Just setup new Draytek vigor 2750N...... + resetti...

    HI all
i mentioned on another thread http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/New-draytek-sync/td-p/517941/page/2
that i was getting a  Draytek vigor 2750N. I got it from ebay for about £100.
As it was used off ebay i took some advise and factory reset it 1st.  was quite easy to setup. and is now up and running.  just a couple of Qs
username/password  should this be my @btinternet.com email address /password   or home@bthomehub thiny (cant remember it exactly) and leave p/w blank?
also on the stats page is there somewhere that tell me what each is   e.g 1Day CV, Total FEC etc.?
next question is simple but bit lengthy..
As as previously mentioned in another thread.  after having a few engineer visits and disconnections on my line, my profile dropped from btspeedchecker ( was about 32mb)  dropped down to a low of about 27ish.
Now i have read mixed advise about if people should actually disconnect (reboot) the modem(and ot routers) to give the line profile a kick/push  or just to leave it to naturally increase (with DLM).. as some warn that it may reduce it even more so with the disconnections. (as DLM thinking line is unstable and lowers speed accordingly)
From my finding i found that...   if i did keep disconnecting the BT OR modem that it would keep dropping the line profile by a meg or so each time..  however what i did was after a reset and seeing it drop i  kept downloading large files (50gb - 100gb) at a time at full speed  to show the line was capable to handing downloads at the max speed) i did this for a day or two   however the profile wouldnt "naturally increase" after doing another btspeedcheck.   so after a day or so of heavy downloading  i would then give the modem a quick blip (usually at off peak times like  late night or v eary morning   this did actually raise the profile..
and kept following the same process.upto  2 nights ago i was working late till about 2am  profile was at 31.51mb so rebooted modem (had to wait an hour for another test) and it increased to  33.62mb (highest i seen since 1st of may from when i had work done)  which its been at since now  (installing draytek)
now i installed the draytek 2pm today.  line profile decreased to 32.77  was disconnected for about 5 mins as had to input settings etc.  so im hoping after a day or 2 of downloading again this will raise up..
However with the draytek router/modem  will i need to give the unit a reboot to see the profile increase(or decrease)   like the BT OR modem or will this naturally increase(or decrease) itself??
if someone can tell me how i will paste a image of my stats from the draytek so you can take a look and see what you think??
    thanks
    Grant

If you use the power on/of switch you will lose your settings.
The best way is in the admin section,as that has a choice of a factory reset or a warm reset.
If you do any resets though it is a good idea to save your settings first from the admin section.
Another good move if you have not done it is to change the PW [system PW] in the admin section as all drayteks use admin/admin,you need to use admin/xxxxxx,but don`t forget the new PW or you will not get in.
But personally I think that a reboot will only make your profile worse as with the draytek you are rebooting the modem and the router sections. If you leave it on it should get stable again, but the choice is yours.

  • DrayTek Vigor 120 + Airport Extreme Base Station?  I have queries.

Ok, so my 3 or 4 year old USR 9108 router went down today-- again. I'm fed up and want a new one. It dies on me once or twice a month. It has decided it doesn't like my powerline adapters lately. and I'm fed right up. I run an internet radio station and what I need is stability.
At the moment, I'm thinking of setting up a DrayTek Vigor 120 ADSL modem (modem-only) with the Airport Extreme Base Station for my router. (I already have an Express on my network.)
First of all, can anyone please comment on whether they have this set-up and whether it's solid? I've heard good things about both of these devices, and I need something that's not going to flake out as regularly as my USR has been doing of late. Rock solid is a good thing for a 24/7 stream.
Second, can I just confirm a few questions that I think I know the answer to, but want to be sure before shelling out?
I am in the UK using an ISP that uses PPPoA; so I need to be sure the modem has a PPPoA to PPPoE bridge in order for the Airport to talk to the outside world. (Right?). I gather the DrayTek will do this. Will it therefore be just a question of setting the Airport to connect via PPPoE and then entering my ISP login settings in Airport Utility?
I need a setup ideally that, like the USR, will allow me to assign IP addresses manually to some machines or devices on my network but allow DHCP on other things (like my iPhone). It's particularly important that the radio stream should have a static IP. I gather, from having a play with my Express's settings, that I'll be able to accomplish this either directly or by DHCP IP-reservation. Directly would be preferable. Therefore, if I, e.g., assign my computers an IP address on their local network settings and then just shift the Airport's DHCP range so that it starts with (say) 192.168.1.10, rather than, 192.168.1.2, will the Airport be happy with that?
I also need port forwarding / port mapping. This should be o.k., right?
    Thanks for help, people.

I'm running a very similar setup here in the UK. I use a Netgear DG834 rather than the Draytek 120 which I was looking at. I use a Time Capsule connected to the router which is in half-bridge mode and this allows me to connect using PPPoE, which is possible on the BT ADSL network, which I didn't know before! - there's no need to get an expensive PPPoA-PPPoE bridge. I guess the Draytek would do an even better job than the Netgear, but mine was the free solution
I use the TC to give out addresses to a network of various kit, with one fixed IP for a specific device. I find the TC and my airport express very easy to set up and run, if slightly light on the details of what's actually going on. That said, if it doesn't work, then they're probably broken!
Nothing you've asked for is out of the ordinary / impossible on the apple kit.
    Hope that helps!

  • Questions about Indexing and Using an Indexing POA

Although I have only about 50 users, at least 15 of them have in excess of 100,000 messages in their accounts and the POA (version 7.0.2) is regularly slowing to a crawl. (I just know that plans for revolution are fomenting!) I have embarked on a campaign to reduce these accounts by archiving everything off to get mail accounts down to 3000 or fewer pieces. I have achieved user buy-in, but have worked on only a few users so far.
In another closely related thread, it was suggested to me that the PO speed issues relate to broken indexes. And I suspect that given so many messages, the indexes were never getting fully rebuilt with the default QF POA settings. I am trying to fix that situation in addition to reducing mail account sizes. So, I have set up a second POA on another server and dedicated it to the indexing task. The /qfinterval is set for 1 hour, other /qf switches at default. The POA-QF does no mail delivery, but it does do nightly user upkeep.
The POA-QF seems to be steadily working away and making progress at reducing the number of unindexed messages. However, I have questions about what I am seeing and what more I can do:
    1. Is the progress I am seeing real progress? For example I have a user with over 100,000 messages to be indexed and every time I check the logs, the count drops by about 500 messages per hourly QF cycle. I assume that if I just let it keep running, it will eventually get caught up and fixed. Not only with this user, but with all the others as well. Will my patience (and theirs) be rewarded? Are there any gotchas I need to prepare for?
    2. One user has recently had virtually all of her messages successfully moved to archive. I can see them in the Archive, and do not see them in the online account. However, now over a week later, QF still shows >130,000 items still left to index for that user. The POA-QF is making slow, steady progress reducing that number, but why is this user's QF count still so high? Does it just need more time, or is there something amiss for this user?
    3. I may want to rebuild indexes for single users from scratch. I have seen the TID 3105742 which tells how to do this: Essentially you turn off mail delivery functions, and make some other switch changes to dedicate the POA to indexing for just a single user, and then you let the POA rebuild the indexes. The implication of that scenario is that the POA is now enjoying exclusive access to the user's databases.
If I want to use my secondary POA-QF to rebuild a user's index from scratch, does the main POA have to be offline and the user out of GWise? That is, Does the QF process require exclusive access in order to rebuild indexes from scratch?
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

Set this switch for this indexing POA - /qflevel=999 - this will index
everything in one run. It will take a long time, but with no qflevel switch you
are indeed only indexing 500 messages at a time, and if the user has that much
mail, it might never really catch up.

This is odd, because really the index count should drop to nothing, but with the
above switch this might get resolved as well.

Not really - the POA is not enjoying exclusive access to the user's database,
the indexer is just avoiding an attempt to index anything else.

No - QF never requires exclusive access. That said, you may find that an
extremely vigorous QF can cause slowdowns for the user.

  • Questions about mac mini iTunes server, streaming to macbook pro, ipads, etc.

I'm thinking about getting a mac mini to work with my NAS as a iTunes server. I have a bunch of questions about this. I will have two iPhones, a few iPads, and a laptop that will be accessing the files. I have iTunes match. This is basically to keep an always on computer for hosting the music/movies. My questions are as follows . . .
#1 Are there any good, comprehensive guides to show you how to do this?
#2 Can the movies be accessed when not at home on the shared network?
#3 Can the iPads or the macbook pro download the shared movies to be stored locally?
#4 Back to #3, how will it work on my macbook pro with listening to music (I have iTunes match)? Say i go to library and I break out my macbook pro and I don't have internet. What happens if I download music while at home onto my macbook pro to listen to it when I go to the library? Will i start a new library on my macbook pro? How will that mesh with the home server when I come back.
#5 Is there a way to mirror files or folders? So something that I have on my macbook pro will also mirror on the home server.
Thanks for your help on this. I'll post any follow up questions.

I do not know if it is the same model number, but this one will work in your MBP:

    2. I want to replace the HD with a 128GB SSD 840. When I replace these drives, will my OS still be in tact? I have never done this job before.
No. You will have to format the drives in Disk Utility>Erase to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then install the OSX by using the original install disks.
3.) I want to replace the ram sticks to max capacity. This is 2 2GB sticks, Correct?
No.  An early 17" 2008 MBP will accept 6GB RAM with the following specifications:  200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.  The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
    4.) Most difficult...
I want to extend the monitor wirelessly to a projector. I thought about using Apple TV and Airplay. However, support for airplay is for MacBooks 2011 and newer. I thought of using a PS3 and the media server, but I think this brings on a format compatibility issue. (my library is so large I could not afford to convert all my movies to MP4.) So, how would you recommend I put my extended monitor with VLC player onto a projector?
Could I possibly connect the MBP to a Mac Mini as an extension? would this work natively? I would rather use a VGA cord than F with 3rd party app BS.
    Cannot help you there.
5..) I want to Bypass iTunes this time around. I would prefer to use Finder and VLC to manage all of my music. I mostly play all my music on shuffle, so, could I create a playlist on VLC with all of my music and play it randomly? (im sure this is possible but i'd like to organize all my plans with confirmation.)
You are not obligated to use iTunes.
6.) Can i upgrade the keyboard to backlit? i've read that this is possible.
All MBPs have back lighted keyboards.  Your either needs a NVRAM reset or a repair.

2nd question about back up..so when i back up through icloud all the pics i have wither it was on the photo stream or not is backed up ?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Note that Photo Stream does not store photos: any photo in Photo Stream is deleted from iCloud 30 days after being added. Photo Stream is designed to sync your pictures to all your devices. If your photos were removed from Photo Stream and Camera Roll, the only way to get them back is by restoring a backup with those photos.
Your phone backup includes all the photos taken with it (those ones which were stored on Camera Roll), so if you have lost them, you can restore a backup. See -> Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

  • Few questions about Lenovo G550

Hello, I plan to buy an inexpensive laptop, propably it will be a Lenovo G550L but I got few questions about this model. Here are my questions:
    1. What 320GB hard disks are mounted inside G550L, Western Digital, Seagate or Hitachi (exact model if possible)?
    2. How are the hinges of LCD screen in this model, cause they look pretty weak. Do they break easy, does anyone got any experience with this type of hinges which are "forward type" instead of normal?
    2. I have noticed that there are two types of laptop chassis in this model one is matte black and another is grey glare. How to determine which model has which finish? Which finish got laptops with T4300, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel IGP x4500, no card reader, no hdmi.

but just for their product not  other products, for instance a samsung dvd player and a samsung lcd can sync easily with with hdmi cable
and in this case you dont need an extra remote control to control dvd besides tv.just with having a remote you can control both of them or the other audio visual products from that campany
please think???? how could you control your lenovo when it does not have a remote?
every device need to send signals to the remote not by just some wires like HDMI
lcd has  a  remote and a dvd player also has a remote and if those are from a unit company, they share a common signal with HDMI cable ,then you could control both of them with just one remote.
this can ease your work,as you dont need a lot of remote around your devices
but they should be from just a unit producer cause they uses different protocols
and of course they want to sell their various products and oblige you to buy other products from that producer to have the compability for having just one remote.

  • Few questions about mac pro before buying

    Hello all!
I may be buying a mac pro in a month or so and have a few questions about it.
    1. ) Any one know when Apple may release the latest mac pro? Don't wanna buy some thing that'll be significantly obsolete in a few days
    2. ) Is it possible to use SATA optical drives internally? I have a SATA blu ray drive I'd like to take from my PC, if that's possible.
    3. ) Is it possible to get a graphics cards better than the 8800 GT for video games? (For use in OS X)
    4. ) Finally, is there a significant performance difference between Apple's seemingly super expensive RAM and 3rd party RAM? (Other than the heat syncs)
    Thanks for any replies.

    1. We have no idea when Apple will release any product until it's released. This is a user-to-user site so we have no more information about future products than you do.
    2. Yes, it's possible. There are two additional SATA ports on the motherboard.
    3. The only graphic cards are those provided by Apple when you order the computer as well as the non-Apple supplied ATI HD-3870 Mac/PC card. The 8800 and 3870 have close performance specs. You can find some benchmarks at Bare Feats.
    4. There's no difference between the RAM Apple installs and what you can purchase on the open market. As long as the RAM meets the required specifications and has the requisite heat sink it will work just fine.
