Question about emailing within iPhoto '11

Hi -
I emailed (so I thought) some photos from within iPhoto using Share > Email. But the email does not show up in my Sent Folder in Mail.
Is this correct? How can I verify that I actually sent the email?
Thanks
MtD

i REALLY LIKED mailing from iphoto, but inadvertantly changed the mailer to my email acct.  (i was asked if i wanted to change, and i did).
HOW DO I GET THE ORIGINAL IPHOTO MAILER BACK.
when i try to share a photo now, it just opens up MY mailer with the photo attached.
CAN YOU HELP ME??? what's the original setting in preferences???
THANK YOU !

You don't. Email comes in either by push or when you invoke the email app. Ther is no password except when you first set up the account. If your iPad is not being used as your personal device and you need to shield emails from other users, then don't use the email app.  Instead, use web mail if available from your provider.

  • Emailing within iPhoto

Im having trouble emailing within iphoto. I have changed my password several times and still keep getting the same message saying that it doesnt recongize the username or password. I took it off photo stream and made the screen bigger. What would be some other recommendations?

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and re-enter it. You may need to contact tech support for your email service to get the correct technical settings
Or IMHO the better solution is to set Mail as your email client

A question about numbers. Is it possible to export just one tab from a spreadsheet? I want to keep all my invoices in one spreadsheet but when I send it as a PDF or excel, all the tabs are sent. The only other option appears to be to create a new spreadsheet for each invoice. Wouod be great to ablr to store them all in one folder and send separatley. Any help appreciated.

Ok, can answer my own problem. Latest app update enables folders! Brilliant!

  • Several questions about migrating from iPhoto to Aperture

I'm currently a heavy iPhoto user and am looking into migrating to Aperture. Can anyone give me a sense of what I to expect if/when I make this switch?
Here are several particular things I'm wondering about:
    1. iPhoto works great as a computerized photo album for casual browsing. (I can see a page of different events with mouse-over previews, plus I can hide poorer shots so that I can just view the highlights.) Will Aperture be a step back in this department? If so, is it possible to "share" my Aperture photos with iPhoto without keeping two parallel copies of everything?
    2. When I import an edited photo from iPhoto to Aperture, will the iPhoto "original" become the Aperture "original" and the iPhoto "modified" become the Aperture "modified? Is the same true if I export an edited photo from Aperture to iPhoto?
    3. Does Aperture have an analog for "hidden" photos? I currently mark my best shot from a series by hiding the rest. Will I lose this marking if I migrate to Aperture or is there a way to preserve it?
    4. I currently have a number of short video clips (taken with my point-and-shoot's video feature) mixed in with the iPhoto albums. (iPhoto really does let me keep everything organized in one place!) If I understand correctly, Aperture won't let me store these in my Aperture library alongside the still-photos of the same subjects. Is this correct? If so, how have other people handled this?
    5. Do EXIF tags get re-read upon import from iPhoto to Aperture? I've got a number of iPhoto files which I've retroactively geotagged with HoudahGeo. Will the tagging be lost (since iPhoto is not currently aware of the geotagging as the EXIF tags have not been re-read)... or will Aperture now recognize this metadata?
    6. If worst-comes-to-worst and I give up on Aperture after a few months, how painful will it be to un-migrate back to iPhoto? More importantly, what album metada (e.g. events, albums, ratings, tags, notes, dates, hidden-ness, links between original and modified versions of a photo, iWeb references, etc.) will be lost? In other words, if I were to import everything from iPhoto to Aperture, wipe my iPhoto library clean, and then export everything back from Aperture to iPhoto, what information will have been destroyed?
Thanks in advance for any answers to this long list of questions!

Here are several observations (read: warnings) in case anyone else is considering migrating a significant iPhoto library to Aperture...
    A) Pictures marked as "hidden" appear to be silently skipped over (along with video clips, as was expected) when importing an iPhoto library to Aperture. They do not appear in the relevant Aperture project regardless of the filtering options.
    B) Both iPhoto originals and modifieds are imported. The former are given the keyword "iPhoto original" and the latter are given the keyword "iPhoto modified." Each pair of photos is put into a single Aperture "stack." Both photos are given the same tags/ratings (so, for example, the un-rotated, uncropped, poorly balanced original will show up alongside the nice clean "modified" if you were to filter for 5-star images), and both files are given identical "version names" (equal to the "name field" in iPhoto). In most cases the original -- not the modified version -- was set as the stack's "pick" and displayed when the stack was collapsed. *Significantly, I could find no way of creating a view in Aperture that showed one copy of each picture, with the "iphoto modified" version displayed for photos that had been modified in iPhoto and the original version displayed for photos that had never been modified in iPhoto!* (This is, of course, the way they are shown in iPhoto.)
    C) My understanding of "stacks" is that they are designed to help organize multiple "tries" at the same shot (e.g., I want to make sure that nobody's eyes are closed in the group photo, so I press the shutter six times in quick succession -- I'm going to pick a "best" one will be mostly interested in that shot from then on). This is a fantastic idea! However things get confusing if you are already using stacks to track original and modified versions (as described above)... particularly if your stack should contain six pictures plus original versions of each. Plus, as I mentioned, the "original" version is usually the default "pick" in each stack.
    D) After import, "iPhoto original" versions of portrait photos appear un-rotated. Normally, my cameras (including a Nikon D80, an iPhone, and others) mark photos' orientations and they are automatically displayed in the correct orientation. Aperture appears to consider this auto-rotation an iPhoto edit and helpfully displays the "iPhoto original" always in landscape.
    E) Aperture may incorrectly import events whose names contain a "/" or a ".", so if your event names contain dates, rewrite them with "-"s before importing to Aperture.
    F) Aperture does have a rough mouse-over-the-icon-to-flip-through view, similar to the "events" pane in iPhoto... although you will lose your choice of which photo serves as the default icon for each event when you import your library from iPhoto, and you cannot "hide" photos from appearing in the flip-through as you can with iPhoto.
    G) Perhaps it's my inexperience with the program, but I could find no way to sort the project list by date (vs. alphabetically), nor could I find any way to make a correction to a single photo's date/time.
As a bottom line, remember that Aperture is definitely not "iPhoto Plus." It lacks a number of iPhoto's features, but in exchange gives you a number of really slick tools aimed at streamlining a digital photography workflow.
I'd also encourage people to think very carefully before moving a large, well-organized iPhoto library to Aperture. You may lose a fair amount of information, and the result will take a lot of work to "make pretty" again. It does look like a nice program, though. Are you ready to relegate all of your existing pictures to an iPhoto "pre-history" and start over with a blank -- but much fancier -- slate in Aperture?

  • New user - questions about email setup and synchronization

    Hi,
I'm a not-particularly-techno-savvy new owner of a BlackBerry Curve 8900. My questions are:
1      I seem to only have the option to use a work email account with a BB Enterprise server and not the option to create or add an email addy. How do I resolve this?
2      I've installed the BlackBerry Desktop Manager but when I try to synchronize data from my device - organiser stuff and contacts - I get a message saying there are no applications configured, with subsequent instructions as to how to do this but I then have to choose from a huge list of folders and other stuff and have no idea what to do!
I'm really hoping someone will be kind enough to try and help as I'm floundering dreadfully.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jan

    Jan,
When you install Desktop Manager it gives you the option to setup with an enterprise server or internet email, I can't tell from your post which you have.
However, to pick the applications to sync, assuming you have Desktop Manager 4.7,
    open Desktop Manager
Click on Synchronize on the left side of the screen
On the next screen that opens, choose Synchronize under the word "Configure" (also put check marks in all the boxes that will allow you to check)
On the next screen to open choose Synchronization on the "right" side
In a couple of seconds another screen will open up where you can choose what applications to sync (calendar in Outlook, tasks in Outlook, Contacts in Outlook etc)  just choose each program you need to sync and choose the program on your PC to use such as Outlook.
I also have the 8900 and it syncs with my Outlook 2003 for contacts, calendar, memo and tasks.
    Hope that helps.

  • Question About Re-editing iPhoto Edited Photo In Photoshop

In a few days I am going to be having a friend edit and print some photos that I've already edited in iPhoto. My friend uses Photoshop. My question is since he may be re-editing the images so that color, contrast, etc. are appropriate to his printer setup how should I deliver the images to him. By this I mean if I export the already edited images from iPhoto to a DVD and give it to him will he be able to make all the same changes I would be able to make in iPhoto. For instance, let's say I had cropped the photo originally to 8x10 and then my friend wanted to print it at 13x19 or something else. Would he be able to do this without the ability to resort to the Revert To Original command?
Would the safest approach be to Revert To Original all the images I am giving to him before exporting the photos to the DVD and then re-edit them while working with my friend on them?
    Thanks,
    Win

    Terence,
    Thanks!
Another question, I have spent quite a bit of time and energy editing these images in iPhoto and so I'd love to be able to print them out on my friends printer and Windows computer without having to re-edit the originals. As far as I understand it if I simply export the edited images as is his Windows machine won't be able to deal with them because of the iPhoto connection. If, on the other hand, I export these edited images as jpegs would he then be able to print them out on his Windows computer without the necessity of re-editing them?
    Thanks,
    Winston
if I export the images that I have already edited in iPhoto as jpegs will we be able to print them as edited on a Windows computer? I've never been quite clear on whether

    Hi galaga742,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
I've just tested this for you, the Nokia 808 doesn't support html format. A picture sent within the body of an email will be received on the phone as an attachment and will not be visible in the email itself.
    Hope this clears things up.

  • Question about slowdown - how iPhoto's database works

If I import X number of photos, edit them, export them, and then delete them from the library... does that impact in any way?
I only have about 12,000 photos in my library, but it's slow at different times... such as browsing photos in full screen... sometimes (every 10-20 photos or so) it hiccups for 5 seconds or so before moving onto the next photo when I press the right arrow key...
I have no idea why it's doing this... and I'm trying to figure out what's making it freak out like this...
I have imported a lot of photos, but deleted them later from the library... does that negatively affect the database?

If I import X number of photos, edit them, export them, and then delete them from the library... does that impact in any way?
Apart from disabling the key features of iPhoto such as lossless editing, no.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
How big is your HD and how much free space on it?

  • Question about Updating to iPhoto in iLife 08

I'm currently running iPhoto 6. I've read about how the new iPhoto organizes the library into events, etc. One thing is not clear to me from all that I've read. Are albums still supported? What happens to all the folders and albums that you have already created if you update to the new iPhoto? Does it involve massive amounts of reorganizing and renaming or does it leave the folders and albums alone? Thanks.

Your folders and albums will remain the same.
Events is simply the new word for Film Rolls, wrapped in a pretty, new package. If you have any Rolls with the default name (Ex: Roll 52) then you may want to rename those rolls before upgrading. That is because named Rolls will transfer over to Events; but Rolls with the default numbers as their names will be changed into "Untitled Event". The drawback there is that those Rolls may be divided into multiple Events based on photo dates, and give you unexpected results. The way that photos get grouped into Events is a setting in iPhoto '08 Preferences.
Apple's online video tutorials show how iPhoto '08 uses Events and Albums: http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#iphoto

  • Question about migrating from iPhoto to Aperture 3

I have been using the free trial of Aperture 3 after importing my iPhoto library with the option chosen of storing the files in their original location. I am now considering purchasing the program. My question is: Should I just carry on, or would it be better (or worse) to import the files into Aperture, placing them in a new Aperture library, then deleting my iPhoto library? I have not done any significant work in the trial so this is the time do redo it if it is preferable. If this question does not make sense then I would appreciate knowing that too. Many thanks!

    Andrew
One of the ways that Aperture is much more powerful than iPhoto is in how it relates to the Master files.
From your post I understand that you imported to Aperture leaving the Originals in iPhoto, right?
There is no need to now move the original files into Aperture. You can leave them where they are, move them elsewhere or bring them over to Aperture. Whichever decision you make Aperture can work with and help you do do it.
Check out 'Relocate Masters' in the Aperture Help for more.

    My questions are:
Is stuffit compatible with MS i.e. can you unzip it using MS software?
If not is there a better one like WinZip?

I think you will find the built-in compression software (right-click on a file or folder and choose compress from the pop-up) is compatible.

  • Basic question about emailing photos

When I email photos, sometimes I need to email them to myself. For some reason the iPhone automatically put's my email address on the CC and From areas. Is there a way to take myself off the CC and just have it on the From area?
    Thanks

When you want to email the photo to yourself, you want to place your email address in the Bcc: field so your email address doesn't appear in the message header except in the From: field?
If so, the iPhone includes an Always Bcc Myself option.
If you are using this, your email address is placed in the Cc: field instead of the Bcc: field?
