Question about games

In the iPod nano 3g manual it says games are available for download from the iTunes store.
"When I go to the iTunes store, in the iPod Games section it says "iPod Games are compatible with fifth generation iPods (with video) only. They cannot be played in iTunes or on the iPhone."
What about the 3g nano?
doug

I think the only ones that are currently compatible are the ones that came on the nano. If you go to the games section on the iTunes store, it says that Ms. Pacman, Sudoku and Tetris are coming soon for nano. So hopefully that will be sooner than later.

  • Question about Game Center games...

I have a 1st gen ipod so i can get 4.0 but i have 3.1. What im curious about is can i buy games that are from game center but require atleast 3.0 to play? i know if its a game center game and needs 4.0 i cant play it obviously, but if its a game center game and needs 3.0 i can play it right? Just asking because since you can only get the game center (with the folders or w/e) with 4.0. just making sure.
i really want to get angry birds and fragger.

Try launching each game individually(games that have been updated to support game center) so it connects to game center and from that point on it should be added to your game center list.

  • OK I have a question about "game center" Is it possible to log into the game center with a different apple ID, just within the game center and not anywhere else in the phone?

I have 2 Iphones, 1 is a personal phone and the other is a work phone, i will be using my work phone only right away, I have an appointed Apple ID on my work phone and i want to transfer my Clash of clans Village with out having to attach my other apple ID to the phone? So basically can my Game center have 1 Apple ID and my phone use another? Hopefully that makes sense.

  • A question about games

Hey, Ive ordered the 24" 2.8GHZ with the 2GB of RAM and the ATI X2600 PRO and a 500GB HDD. I'm wondering how will this be for playing games, I'll be installing vista ultimate in a 100GB partition (is this a good size do you think, just for games?) and I want to know how it'll handle things on native res. I want to be playing new games like Oblivion and Crysis. I don't expect to run em on max (well not Crysis at least) but I would like to run em on at least med. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks -

Sorry to bring this up again, exept I found this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbY1kTP79vc on youtube showing a 24
That's quite surprising to say the least, considering the lacklustre benchmark scores for the 2600 Pro in reviews.
I obviously can't say from that low quality YouTube video how high the graphics settings are cranked up in the game, but it definately looks like at least advanced shader effects are turned on.
Shadows were the real killer on my PC in Bioshock (Core 2 Duo E6600, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 7900 GTO as I think I might have mentioned further up, played at 1680x1050) - I had to turn character shadows off if I recall correctly, otherwise there would be occasions where framerates would drop down to low to mid 20s, and this game didn't really feel properly smooth to me below around 35-40, and I didn't really feel like having to drop in and out of the settings menu all the time.
I just did some digging around, and I found a few reports indicating that the graphics card/chip in the iMacs isn't actually a Radeon 2600 Pro, but a slightly underclocked 2600 XT mobility. And at least the regular XT was significantly faster than the Pro in the reviews I linked to the other day.
Since I'm still waiting for the store to call and say my Mac has arrived (eight days and counting now, I hadn't expected it to take this long), I obviously have no way of confirming that. And it also sounds like it may only show up as an XT in Windows.
I also found a very informative article that specifically deals with BioShock performance on "budget cards" - there are a lot of pages, but here is the link to benchmark results for high graphics settings (including 1920x1200), which indicates that the 2600 XT might actually be just about able to pull that off at playable framerates if you run it in DX9 mode.
    http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/bioshockmainstream_gpuperformance/page6.asp
The 2600 Pro isn't included, but you would imagine it would perform significantly worse, though might still manage at medium graphics settings.
This also looks like BioShock is one of those games that is a bit better optimized for ATI than nVidia - if I recall correctly the nVidia 8600 range otherwise usually comes out on top.
Impressed as I am, I still wouldn't expect the iMacs to handle Crysis or many other upcoming games though.

  • A question about game development

How much time would it take you to make a game from planning to the final testing?
And for those of you that will say that it depends on the game, here is a more specific example: How much would it take you to develop a backgammon game, with computer AI included?

Well, it still is dependant on many other things..
For one, how much people are working on it. what are their skills, what are the exact specs of the game...
We can't look into a glass marble and tell you how long it will take ;)

You don't. They are part of the firmware. If you need to restore your iPod to factory settings they will be recreated as part of the process.
My tv episodes are not syncing right... They are all out of order. *not even in alphabetical order.
They appear correctly in the itunes window *and under the tv shows tab in the ipod tab.
Bt when looking at the episodes on the iPod the episodes are all jumbled up how do i fix thiis?
You're not alone here. From other posts it appears that they should sort correctly if the release date is present, however there is no easy way to adjust this. Failing this, they seem to be ordered with most recently added to the libray first, but it's not really clear what the basis is.

I've learned  by reading other topics that I can't upgrade my graphics card on my Macbook Pro because it's soldered into the motherboard or somthing like that, but please tell me if there is any way to get more video ram by chaning some setting or upgrading something else. I'd also like to know why I only have 256MB of VRAM when I have 8GB of RAM, since I have 8GB of RAM I thought I was supposed to have 560mb of VRAM...
    So the two questions are...
Is there any way to upgrade my VRAM, so that I can play games on steam?
Why do I only have 256MB VRAM when I have 8GB total RAM?
    Other Info:
    I have a quad core i7 Processor.
My graphcics card is the AMD Radeon HD 6490M.
I am also trying to play games on my BOOTCAMPed side of my mac, or my Windows 7 Professional side.

The only two items that a user can change on a MBP are the RAM and HDD (Retinas not included).  You have what the unit came with and the only way you will be able to change that is to purchase a MBP with superior graphics
If you are very much into gaming, the I suggest A PC.  They are far superior for that type of application to a MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Just installed iOS6, questions about "iMessage" and other things...

I've been a satisfied iOS4 user since I bought my iPhone4, but I was forced to install iOS6 tonight in order to download a "free" app. I found a few new icons on the screen along with about 200 percent more "Settings" I'd like to ask some questions about. I'm sure a few of these could be answered by doing a frantic and thorough search through weeks of posts but I'm a little short on time right now.
First, what exactly is iMessage? Looking at the page for it, I can't see any difference between it and regular text messages. The info page says its to avoid charges, but between my data plan and not being charged for text I don't see where theres any other benefit. The one person I text with the most recently asked me why I had not installed iMessage yet, and didn't have an answer when I asked him why I should. I guess he just wanted to see text replies in blue instead of green.
In a related bit, flipping through Settings>Messages>Send & Receive I find a "2 addresses" section, with my phone number in there as well as my email under "You can be reached by iMessage at:" and "Start new conversations from:". What good does it do iMessages to have my email address? Does the Mail app handle text as well as email addresses? That seems to be the only explanation, and also very odd to think I'd be trying to text through my Mail app.
Second, looking through the Settings>Mail I see now that I have an icloud email address as well as the mac.com address I've been desperately hanging on to for the past 10 years, and the me.com address they've been trying to force me into since those came out. (I was happy to see I could delete the me.com address from the phone. I wish I could delete it from the universe.)
I wasn't even aware there was a such thing as icloud.com addresses. When did this happen? What is it used for?
Third, under that icloud Setting I see a long list of apps with buttons labeled "Off" under it. What are those for? Under the Mac.com settings I see switches for "Mail" and "Notes", with Mail on and Notes off. The Notes app (which I haven't used since my old iPhone 3) still opens, regardless of this setting.
Fourth, I now have an item called "Facetime" under my Settings. It is off, but underneath it says "Your phone number and/or email address will be shared with people you call". I understand caller ID normally sends caller number info to the receiver, but why would someone need my email address if I call them?
Fifth, I now have a "Music" setting, at the bottom of which I see a "Home Sharing" item, which when clicked brings up my AppleID and asks me if I want to Sign Out or Cancel. What is Home Sharing? Its also at the bottom of the "Video" settings.
Sixth, now I have Twitter and Facebook settings? For what? I don't have accounts with either of those companies. So why have settings, especially since it asks me to create accounts and download apps for those companies right in the Settings?
Seventh, there is a camera icon on the unlock screen. Touching it causes the screen to bounce up about a quarter inch, almost but not quite revealing something behind it. I should probably just quit asking about this stuff already, but I'll take the bait - what is this now?
Finally, what is the Notification Center used for?
If I got a text under iOS4, it would put an alert on the Unlock screen. Scrolling through this huge list of things under the Notification settings I'm really blown away by all the apps set up to yell at me. I can see having an alert for a text message but Game Center? What the heck is that, and why is it set up to hit me with a "Badge App Icon" (whatever that is) when I get alerts from "Everyone". Similarly, the phone is set to alert me to something called a "Photostream Alert"? What is this? Why is there a Phone section for the Notification Center? So they can put a Notice on my screen to tell me the phone is ringing? Holy cow! The phone is set to send me alerts from the "Weather Widget". So if I miss the fact its raining there will be a message on my screen to let me know? Whats next - a buzzer to tell me I'm listening to music?
There's a lot more, like what would I need Passbook for when I have the actual movie tickets, gate boarding passes, coupons, etc in my hands, but we'll leave that for another time. Many thanks to all who can offer some answers to my questions above.

  • Question re: Game Center on multiple devices

I just bought my first iPad, and have a question ....
I have several games that are universal builds -- for example, Jetpack Joyride.  I have had that game on my iPhone for a long time, and I have all of the achievements.
If I put that game on my iPad now, and connect it to the same Game Center account, what happens with my achievements?  Do they merge, are they kept separate, or (worst case scenario) does launching the game on my iPad wipe out the achievements on my iPhone?
I asked this question about the Apple Store when I bought the iPad, and got conflicting answers.
    Anybody know for sure?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Few questions about mac pro before buying

    Hello all!
I may be buying a mac pro in a month or so and have a few questions about it.
    1. ) Any one know when Apple may release the latest mac pro? Don't wanna buy some thing that'll be significantly obsolete in a few days
    2. ) Is it possible to use SATA optical drives internally? I have a SATA blu ray drive I'd like to take from my PC, if that's possible.
    3. ) Is it possible to get a graphics cards better than the 8800 GT for video games? (For use in OS X)
    4. ) Finally, is there a significant performance difference between Apple's seemingly super expensive RAM and 3rd party RAM? (Other than the heat syncs)
    Thanks for any replies.

    1. We have no idea when Apple will release any product until it's released. This is a user-to-user site so we have no more information about future products than you do.
    2. Yes, it's possible. There are two additional SATA ports on the motherboard.
    3. The only graphic cards are those provided by Apple when you order the computer as well as the non-Apple supplied ATI HD-3870 Mac/PC card. The 8800 and 3870 have close performance specs. You can find some benchmarks at Bare Feats.
    4. There's no difference between the RAM Apple installs and what you can purchase on the open market. As long as the RAM meets the required specifications and has the requisite heat sink it will work just fine.

  • Question about Video Cards on Laptops

Hi everyone, and sorry if I post this in the wrong area. I own a few computers, some are consider ancient and others are somewhat old but can run Windows XP just fine. I have a question about the computers in the stores today.
I am looking to invest in a new laptop, possibly a desktop in the near future depending on my budget. The question I have about video cards today is that, I enjoy a good MMO game now and then, I don't expect to play heavy intensive games, just maybe some more advance games. I notice that for one game that I want to play, it requires a video card to have (Shadow Rendering, Vertex and Pixle Shaders). Do the computers today have those as standard for thier video card? Or do I have to invest in a little bit more expensive laptop/desktop. I am willing to invest money for some more RAM, if I need to improve its preformance. The reason I ask is because I have a 4 year old Laptop with a broken keyboard, and I was thinking about just replacing the laptop with a newer one. it has some pretty good specs and runs everything fine, but it can not play certain games because of those missing video requirements. (Current laptop incase someone is curious: 1.5Ghz Celeron M, 1GB memory 64MB video (Shared) ) Thanks to anyone who has the answer to this question. (P.S sorry if everything is scrunched together. for some reason the formatting is wierd on Opera web browser

Graphics cards have all those standard today... or at least they should unless you get a really cheap Graphics card. The kind of graphics card and processor and other specs of the computer you want to get should depend on what you want to do with it. It also depends on the kind of games you want to play. If you're playing FPS [first person shooter] then you need a really good graphics card and processor. If you're playing something like Diablo 2 or something that's on the lower end of graphics then you just need decent specs. Graphics cards, I suggest something with aGeForce Nividia card... as of today, they are in the 9 series for high-end cards I believe. For processors... get something like Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 or T9600 or the Core 2 Quatros or Extremes. Extremes are intended for hardcore gaming and would be more expensive. For RAM you should have at least 2GB... you can always upgrade that later.
    For laptops my suggestions are:
    $3k+ get a customized alienware
$2-3 get a customized dell xps, or macbook pro [although if you're gaming i would suggest you dual boot with windows xp or vista]
$1-2k get a cheaper customized dell, or sony vaio
under $1k... well I don't know what to say... you can't really get a nice gaming computer for under that price.
I personally DO NOT like HP computers at all because they are so quirky and have so many problems and break down easily.

  • Questions about my PDF portfolio.

I have only a few questions about a CD portfolio I am designing with Acrobat Professional (8.0)
There were a few things i couldn't figure out on my own.
I have about 15-20 pieces to show on CD, but there is no web design involved, so I couldn't use my own web site layout to just throw onto CD, out of that convenience.
    1) How do you make sure the PDF will always opens at the size you want?
For example, whenever I set the document at actual size (100% view) I close and open the document, and it reopens at a random size, such as 317 percent.
    WTH?
    2) Where can I find examples of design portfolios that were designed in Acrobat? Everyone's portfolio is online these days, which is not my style.
    3) Is it possible to make a 'thumbnail view' on the first PDF page (like you would see in a gallery on a website) that links from that page to any one of the 15-20 pieces?
    Any advice is much appreciated.

Some games end up with graphic glitches forcing you to restart them, some display a message saying its unsupported and some support it partially (The number keys for navigation stay like they are in portrait which is of course messed up (The phone seems to change the navigation keys internally though so that does work)

  • Questions about Audigy 2 ZS connecti

    Hello,
New to these forums, so bear with me. I'm considering purchasing an Audigy 2 ZS gamer card, and have some questions about the card and speaker setup. I've read the FAQ's in the forum, and they have been a big help, but I still have questions related specifically to my setup. Here's the system specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    Asus K8V SE Deluxe
    VisionTek Radeon X800 XT PE
    Seagate 250 gig SATA HDD
    gig Crucial ram
    Antec P80 case
    Antec TruePower 430 ps
Altec Lansing ADA885 digital speakers (awesome sound)
Altec Lansing headset (cheap but works for voice and gaming)
    ADI AD980 onboard sound
    Windows XP Home
. I currently am able to run both the speakers and headset at the same time by using the front panel audio outlets on the case (helps with the immersion in IL2 946). I would like to continue doing this(using front panel audio) with the new card. I've found several places that have an adapter cable for sale, http://www.x-tap.com/

The plug that I have has only 3 separators, not 4. Will this work with the Audigy 2? I don't have a link for this plug, unfortunately.
    4. I had been considering purchasing? a set of USB headphones, but I've been told that when you plug them in, the sound is cut off for the speakers. If there was a workaround for this, I might consider getting them. Then I wouldn't have to use the front panel audio or the connections on the card.
    5. I've heard of an issue with this particular set of speakers and the Audigy 2 card, particularly that the speakers were originally designed for a Dell system, and the wiring was phased differently than in other systems. Is this something to be concerned with, and if so, is there a workaround?
I like to research a particular product before I buy it, in order to make an informed decision and avoid problems if possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't
Thanks in advance for the help.

The inputs are easy to find and select:?
Right-click the Mixer icon on the taskbar and select "Playback Devices".<
There should open a new Window with the options of "Speakers" and "SPDIF"<
With Speakers highlighted click the?"Properties" button on the lower?right corner<
Go to the 4th tab (I believe it is "volume" in english, "Pegel" in german)<
    There you have your inputs!<
Unmute Line-In and set its volume according to your desires.<
Also remember that software designed for XP, that should control the Line-IN settings, (ie. Hauppauge WinTV or Dscaler) will be unable to do so in Vista, do to the architecture change. You can however enable "Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP2" for these applications (right-click on their executable) and restore control of the inputs directly from the program. (You should however unmute it first as explained above). PS:? All Creative Software that came on the CD is incompatible to Vista. Only the included Audio Console should work as expected.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 05-07-200707:3 PM
