Question about IMPORT

Hi all,
If I do an export from schema 123 from a DB and import it to an other DB which contains the schema 123, will it be imported in the schema 123 by its self?

IS this how it is supposed to be?
-bash-3.00$ imp sys/****** file=/tmp/CN_SMSC.dmp fromuser=ORVETL touser=ORVETL indexes=n statistics=none
Export file created by EXPORT:V10.02.01 via conventional path
Warning: the objects were exported by ORVETL, not by you
import done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
import server uses AR8ISO8859P6 character set (possible charset conversion)
. importing ORVETL's objects into ORVETL
. . importing table "CN_SMSC_KWT_10APRIL" 4892573 rows imported
Import terminated successfully with warnings.
Does this mean it has imported the whole file into the schema ORVETL?
Thanks...

  • Basic question about importing wma files

Hi, I have a basic question about importing wma files. I ripped some cd's on a Mindows computer using Media Player, but now want to copy them to my Mac and use them in iTunes on my Mac. when I use Import in iTunes, nothing happens and I cant even seem to copy them one by one using the Music folder.
    Can someone help me?
    thanks

iTunes for Mac doesn't support .wma files.
If you can use a PC to convert them, you can use one of many freeware applications. Google for 'wma to mp3'.
For the Mac there's the shareware program EasyWMA that can convert them.
    Hope this helps.

  • Some questions about importing HTML files

    Hi, folks
Let's suppose we want to import a pack of HTML files formatted in HTML5 wit's it's CSS into a double-oriented folio. A couple or three questions about that, please:
    1. Is there a limit for a reasonable quantity of HTML files I can import into a folio? I mean.. 100 would be way too much, for instance?
    2. These HTML files could be navigated and referenced from inside TOC-pages made in InDesign, right? (navto://..., I gues?)
    2. Will it be possible, by means of HTML adaptative design techniques, to treat both orientations (vertical and horizontal) as different viewports or screen sizes so that the design adapts for instance the column width with its CSS?
    3. That said, will the InDesign final app. respect that adaptative CSS rules?
I am asking this because we are looking for a way to inject big quantities of content with a very similar design into our application in a really fast and automatizable way and I have the suspicion* that importing HTML5 preformated CSS files could be the a very good and simple alternative to importing XML into InDesign templates as we start out content as tagged almost-html files.
    Thanks a lot
    Gustavo Sánchez (Posting from Madrid)

I assume you are asking about using HTML articles.
    1. There is no limit beyond simply keeping things reasonable.
    2. Yes. Just use navto://articlename
    3. Yes. I've used min-width of 768 and max width of 1024 to control it.
    4. InDesign does not enter into any of this with the exception of using the folio builder panel. Everything else is done in Dreamweaver or whatever program you decide to use for the article.
If you want to restrict the HTML articles to one orientation or the other, use the _h and _v suffixes.

  • Question about imported file

    Hi,
I was taking a look to the tutorial provided by the otn web site about TopLink and I saw that we have to import the source.jar file.
I'm working with JBuilder and I have imported as a library toplink.jar, antlr.jar and xerces.jar and it works fine. Do I really need to also import source.jar and/or other .jar?

I would presume that the source.jar would only be needed in IDEs for parsing the source for code completion and Javadoc. Most newer IDEs are pretty good at parsing the .class files for most of the info though. So I don't think its really needed.

  • Basic question about import

I need to import an already existing user from a dmp file.
I am not sure if I must drop and recreate the user before importing or the import would drop all not existing objects, create the new ones, modify those that are different, insert new records, delete those not in the dmp file and update the different ones.
    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately the advice from the other poster is
just plain wrong.I wouldn't classify it as "plain wrong", "not accurate" yes maybe, but not wrong.
The OP's question was that he needs to import already existing user with existing objects.
Quoting Oracle's online Documentation of Oracle Utilities, Import's IGNORE parameter:
    IGNORE
    Default: n
Specifies how object creation errors should be handled. If you accept the default, IGNORE=n, Import logs or displays object creation errors before continuing.
If you specify IGNORE=y, Import overlooks object creation errors when it attempts to create database objects, and continues without reporting the errors.
Note that only object creation errors are ignored; other errors, such as operating system, database, and SQL errors, are not ignored and may cause processing to stop.
In situations where multiple refreshes from a single export file are done with IGNORE=y, certain objects can be created multiple times (although they will have unique system-defined names). You can prevent this for certain objects (for example, constraints) by doing an import with CONSTRAINTS=n. If you do a full import with CONSTRAINTS=n, no constraints for any tables are imported.
If a table already exists and IGNORE=y, then rows are imported into existing tables without any errors or messages being given. You might want to import data into tables that already exist in order to use new storage parameters or because you have already created the table in a cluster.
If a table already exists and IGNORE=n, then errors are reported and the table is skipped with no rows inserted. Also, objects dependent on tables, such as indexes, grants, and constraints, will not be created.

  • Import preferences and question about import

Under Preferences/Advanced is the selection: "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library."
Should this option be selected? What does it do?
When I import, neither roll nor photo name appear in the left menu window of iPhoto. Other rolls and photo folder names and photo names appear there. Should the imports appear there?
At the head of the left menu window is "Source" and then "Library" folder followed by a listing of other folders and photos. Does this mean the other folders and photos are not in the Library folder? Is there anything that should be done?
    thanks again.

Under Preferences/Advanced is the selection: "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library."
Should this option be selected? What does it do?
Yes it should. It means that when you import photos into iPhoto, then iPhoto will make a copy of the pic in the iPhoto Library Folder. The advantages of this are several:
    1. iPhoto becomes responsible for File Management. That is, you do all your organising in the iPhoto Window and can forget about the iPhoto Library Folder. iPhoto will store your photos there, along with your library files. When you delete photos in iPhoto (Move them to the iPhoto trash -> Empty iPhoto Trash) they are deleted from the hard drive as well. Moving your pics to an external HD or to a new computer is also much more straightforward.
IF you don't do this, then iPhoto will make shortcuts that point to your pics (where ever you have them. Importing and Deleting become multi-stage projects and the level of complication increases.
Keep it simple, as I've detailed in other posts you can still easily find your files :There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Once you've imported your pics into iPhoto, and you're sure that all is working correctly, you can then trash your original copies.
When I import, neither roll nor photo name appear in the left menu window of iPhoto. Other rolls and photo folder names and photo names appear there. Should the imports appear there?
No, that's the space for Albums and Folders full of Albums. You can see your Rolls (View Menu -> Film Rolls) in the main part of the window, and these rolls correspond exactly to the Rolls in the Finder. If you drag a folder of pics to the Source pane, an album will be created there automatically, with the same name as the folder, and a new Film Roll will also be created.
An important clarification: Rolls, as I said above, are directly related to Rolls in the iPhoto Library Folder at Go/Pictures.
Albums and Folders in the source pane are "virtual". That is, they have no direct corresponding folders in the Finder. Really, what they are is an instruction to iPhoto: display these photos together..., that's all.
The advantage: a pic can be in 50 albums with no duplication at all.
Isn't that where this started? ;))

  • Question about import in archive log mode

    Hello.
I am a developer, I have ordered to write a script that makes the import of a schema of a database (release 9.2.0.7). That import will be done once a day. I have seen that in my development environment the import creates 54 archivers files (10M aprox. each), that means more that half a Gb a day, it seems too much to me.
I cannot see why all those archivers can be useful. Would a good way of proceeding the following?
    1. Forcing an archiver just before the import (I do not know how to do that) so that a backup could be done to the state before the import.
    2. Disabling archive log mode during the import and enabling it just after the import (I do not know how to do that).
    3. Forcing a new archiver just after the import (I do not know how to do that).
    Thanks in advance.

    540M is not that much.
One would question why you need to import every day,
there must be better ways to do this.
The three steps you propose look like an awful
scenario, as it would require the database to switch
from archivelog to noarchivelog and vice versa.
This would require the database to close twice a
    day.
The scenario is also incomplete as one would need to
take a backup after the import
If you can convince your DBA to close the database
twice a day, he should write the script, which he can
    easily derive from the docs.
But likely he will visit Billy Verreynne to borrow
his lead pipe, and rightly so ;)
    Sybrand Bakker
Senior Oracle DBAThanks for the answer.
    A few things:
    - Sorry for my ignorance, I have no experience in database backups, I do not understand why I need to backup just after the import.
    - That database is not critical, it is just for a team who will test on that database several applications, so the database will only need to be open during the office schedule.
    - I have no dba. The client has a dba for several databases but I have no contact with him/her nor my boss has.

  • Checked FAQ: Question about importing into library, need some assistance.

    Hi,
I've done some searching and have yet find my answer. I hope that some of the sharpshooters here can help out.
I keep all of my music on a network drive to avoid "bloating" my Mac with music. So the other day, I wanted to use iTunes to catalog what was on there and to load some more music onto my 'Pod. So, I performed an import of the library. Here's my dopey question: When one imports into a library, does all of the music come over with it, or, does just the songs' data get imported and then point to the source drive? Does this make sense?
    TIA,
    Chris

I also keep my music and all on an external drive. Before you catalog it you need to do one important thing or it will copy everything to your computer. Go into the Advanced setting under Preferences and uncheck *Copy music to your iTunes Music folder when adding to library*. If you don't do this you will end up with your music trying to be put on your computers drive. You can then use this to update your iPod as it points to the original file and will bring anything needed to load on your iPod.

  • General Question About Importing Music

    Ok this is the scenario..
All of my music is saved in one folder.. Recently added files do not appear in iTunes library..
If in iTunes i select File>Add Folder and add my music folder, it is still not adding all my music from that folder and is also creating duplicates.
Am I the only one with this issue or can someone shed some light on any preferences I need to change, etc?

Just got off the phone with Apple support, still confused about how duplicates are created.. The rep informed me that it had nothing to do with iTunes, and a duplicate would only be created if there was an actual duplicate of the song on my computer.. which there isn't..
I just deleted my entire library, edit> selectall> rightclick> delete> chooseremove> choose keep files > file > add folder > selected music folder..
she assured me there should be no duplicates.. and it's going to take a while for my music to import, but i will update when it is done..

  • Newbie question about importing articles

Sorry for the most basic of questions but I cant seem to find the answer. If I am importing an Indesign document that has more than one page into a single edition folio do I have to break out each page and import one at a time or will DPS allow me to import say, 5 pages at a time? Does each page have to be its own document with appropriate links or can I bring in multiple pages and common links from the same document? Thanks in advance- I suspect it is one at a time but that can become cumbersome for a long article, especially when you are working with master pages and would like to adjust common elements without having multiple InDesign docs.

Each article can be as many pages as you want it to be. You can import as
many articles as you want as long as they're in the right folders.
You can download Bob Bringhurst's DPS Tips app from the app store and if

  • Question About Importing DVD Video to iMovie 9

I have some home DVDs with 3 types of files on them (.BUP, .IFO, and .VOB), and they are all grayed out when I try to import them in iMovie. iMovie help says the format has to be in MPEG-4, DV, or .mov files
What's the recommended converter/process to get the DVD video into iMovie?
All I really want to do with the video is capture clips from the DVDs

    Hi Appleman1958,
Here's situation: I have several DVDs that were burned from home videos (high school football games, etc.). I don't know whether they were burned using iMovie/iDVD or some other program. I need to pull clips from the individual DVDs and combine them into a new DVD. I've edited movies that were recorded on my digital camera with iMovie and burned the project to a DVD using iDVD, so that part isn't a problem.
    My questions are as follows:
    1. I downloaded the QuickTime component and Streamclip, per the instructions in your post dated 12/5/09. After I installed each application (or thought I did), I dragged the files from the "download" folder to the trash. Now I don't see the applications in the Finder. Did I uninstall the applications when I dragged the downloaded files to the trash? Also, the file types in the trash are "Disk Images" (.dmg). Is that correct?
    1. Will the QuickTime MPEG2 Component/Streamclip process work for DVDs that weren't created using Apple software?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • General questions about imported video and audio clips

Hey guys. I'm a new Apple convert so forgive me if I ask extremely stupid questions.
    1. If I import a video file that has audio in it, am I able to separate the audio from the video? I want to edit in pictures over some of the video but keep the audio playing over it. Is this possible in FCE?
    2. I've started a project on FCE and I can't hear the audio from an mp3 file I downloaded. I know I have to convert it to an AIFF file (which I thought I did, at 16bits), but I still can't hear it. Is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks for the reply. As to my first question, I assume then when I import a video clip with audio on it, FCE will automatically split the two?
As to my second question, thanks for the link, but I already tried it and still no audio. Is there something I need to fix in the playback? I'm still not clear on what the RT tab does. Maybe it's something with that?

  • Basic question about importing/exporting movies

Hi all! I'm a complete novice with Flash (and moviemaking). I used it many years ago, but haven't used it in a long, long time. Flash may not even be the program I need... so let me know if that's the case.
Basically, I shot a video with my camera. It is a .mov file. I imported it into iMovie and edited it. Then I exported it as a .mov file. I want to embed the video into a web page. As far as I can tell, in Dreamweaver it needs to be a .swf file. But I don't think I can export an swf file from iMovie. So I read online I could convert my file using Flash.
I followed directions I found online, but though it seems to be working... it's not. Here's what I did:
I opened a new file in Flash. I used the default type. I clicked on the timeline and went to File > Import > Import movie (using all the default choices).
I broused to find the .mov file. I clicked Next.
I chose a skin that was the default (Minimal Flat Custom Color Play Back See CounterV...). Clicked Next. Clicked Finish.
A little movie player is now on my Flash screen.
I started adding frames (F5). I see frames are added in the timeline.
But... when I go to play the movie... it DOES play... but the screen is black.
I see I CAN export it as a swf file... but since I can't see the movie when I play it, I'm guessing it's not working (the tutorial I was using said I should be able to see it at this point).
So... am I going about this the completely wrong way? Why is it not working? Thanks for helping me out.
    julie
PS I'm using Flash Professional CC v. 13.0.0.759 on an iMac

open your mov file in adobe media encoder.  save to flv or f4v.
open flash pro, add an flvplayback component to the stage and assign its source (using a relative, not absolute path) to be your flv or f4v.  test.
when you have that working you can publish a swf and html.  use the html code to embed the swf in your web page.
p.s. you'll need to upload the flv/f4v, the swf the html file that contains the embedding code AND, if you use an flvplayback skin, that skin.

  • Question about import statement

    Hi all!
I was wondering if a line like this:
import java.io.*imports all classes from java.io or just the classes needed by your program (the classes you actually using in your code). Can anyone give me a little hint on that?

The way I understand it is that it simply makes the
classes in that package 'visible'. This means that you
don't have to type the fully qualified name each timeOh, yeah. I was thinking too much in C and it's #include.
