Question about internal Bluetooth connector on Tecra 8100?

Hello all.
I have a pt810e-13c52-sp notebook. Upgraded to 512MB by using 2 toshiba 256mb pc100 modules bought in ebay, upgraded to a PIII 850 also got in ebay, and upgraded to a bigger 40GB wdc wd400e hard disk, with much less noise than 12GB original one.
Messing with my computer i have found an internal "bluetooth" connector next to the internal one that belongs to the keyboard.
Why is this?? Is there any unreleased Bluetooth module for Toshiba Tecra 8100??

Hi Toka
Maybe I am wrong but I have found info that Tecra 8100 has no BT and this model can not be upgraded with BT module. Usually BT will be used just sometimes and if you need BT you can use USB BT stick. It is pretty easy to configure it and this small part can be used whenever you need it.

  • Some question about International Travel

Ok so i know alot of people have question about international travel weather is USA to Canada, Canada to USA or where ever.
So i just got off the phone with someone from AT&T these are my questions for them. i hope it can help, im confuse myself.
*1. I travel recently travel to canada a few weeks ago, when i cross the boarder i switch the data roaming ON and it picks up Rogers Wireless, a few days ago i try i again it said NO SERVICE is something wrong with my iPad?*
NO, consider yourself lucky u didnt get charge for that roaming, your ipad well not work out of the US unless u buy one of our International plans that AT&T has provided. The reason for this is so you wont have any unwanted charge or high charge on your bill.
*2. If i was to buy a sim card from Canada and pop it in to my US ipad well it work?*
Honestly that's something you can try at your own risk, it's design for AT&T so by switching sim cards it may affect your ipad such as running slow, virus, crash. You can try it, i dont work for Rogers so i know nothing about them, i work for AT&T so i can only tell you about our plans and i wont lie to you.(I THINK U JUST DID) This ipad is not unlock just like the iphone so it well only work with AT&T.
*3. If i pop my sim card out and put in an international sim card well it affect my plan at all or in any way?*
Yes it can, right now your on the unlimited plan if you put in a different sim card and then re-put in ur AT&T one chances are you're going to loose your unlimited plan and have to settle for the newer plan. That's why AT&T has reduce it's international plans so people are more likely to use it. It's a contract we sign with Apple, if u want to use in canada you can always buy an Ipad in canada and use their plan. (***)
At the end of this conversion i was just more angry with them. All in all she told bottom line is dont do anything stick with AT&T and pay for international plans. So i have to pay over price data plan if i want to use it intertanional? or i have to buy an ipad for each international places i go to?
Has anyone try or done any of the 3 ive mention and did it affect ur plan or ipad in anyway?
    Thanks
    Andy

Ok so here's a little more info
I called AT&T again today asking them the same question the guy was more helpful then the one yesterday. Even though he kinda told me the same saying that the ipad need to be unlock. , Afterward he transfer me someone from Apple. The lady told me
    1. The ipad is UNLOCK so dont bother trying to get it unlock.
    2. she doesnt see why sticking in another sim card from one of the apple ipad carrier is a problem. U would just have to sign up activated it like u would when u first got it.
    3. Contact phone company (my case Rogers) to see if they carry the mico sim cards.
    4. She doesnt see why it would affect the current plan u have now.
So at the end of all that she told me, seem like AT&T is just telling you, you cant do this or u shouldnt do that is simple THEY WANT YOU TO USE THEIR PLANS.
so with that i said i just want to let everyone know. I'm gonna go pick my Micro sim cards from Canada in a bit and sign up for thier plan we'll keep everyone updated if anything change or how it work

  • Basic questions about Notes domino connector

    Hi,
I have a very basic question about the Lotus Domino connector for OIM. We have a requirement to provision accounts into the domino mail server and while doing that also update some information directly into a separate nsf file.
I checked the documentation and it seems while configuring an IT resource, we need to give the Mail DB path, and thats the only place where it refers to it.
Could you guys please let me know if this can be done? Can I write directly to a different nsf file, which is not like provisioning to the complete mail server. So the other attributes in the IT resource may not be able to be set up as its just the file I need to provision into.
    Looking forward to your response.
    Thanks, M

Hello folks, please share your experience working with the lotus notes connector.
    Thanks, M

  • Question about 'Generic Database Connector'

    Hi SAP IdM Gurus,
I found 'Generic Database Connector' in the list of SAP NW IdM connectors overview.
I'd like to check the capability of this connector in detail.
I'm wondering whether it could provide not only  a connectivity of RDBMS, but also custom-developed application using the RDBSM for their ID/Password repository. If it provides only a connectivity of RDBMS, Is there a connector for the custom-developed application using the RDBSM for their ID/Password repository?
My question is that which connector is used for the connectivity  of custom-developed application using the RDBSM for their ID/Password repository.
I would really appreciate it if you could answer the question.
    Thanks
    Kenneth

    Kenneth,
The Generic Database connector uses a JDBC connection and allows for the and writing to databases.
That being said, you can also use this connection to set up access to the system or drop access using SQL commands and set them up per the framework.
What specific Database are you working with?

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about International warranty

I bought a Satellite laptop L850-Y3110 in India which has an international warranty.
There's a problem with it now, it's cd drive is faulty and I took it to an authorized service centre in Newcastle.
It needs the cd driver to be replaced, but now Im told Toshiba wont give the part cause I didn't but it in the UK, and the person told me to go back to where I bought it from and fix it there, I wont be going back there any time soon, so thats out of the option.
My question is what's the point of the International warranty if it's going to have these kinds of drawbacks.
When I bought a laptop I wanted one which would be in warranty internationally cause Im a student going out of the country for studies, thats why I bought this one as it has international warranty and my laptop still is in international warranty.
What am I to do now?

    Hi
Im not quite sure about the notebooks sold in India but the notebooks sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year European standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.toshiba.eu/services/standard-warranty/
This warranty does not cover repair in other countries but in case of hardware malfunction you have to visit the authorized service provider in country where you made the purchase.
To get international warranty coverage you would need to purchase an International Warranty extension: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/
In case the International Warranty has been registered for your notebook, the ASP in UK should be able to fix the notebook under international warranty conditions.

All the cases have some sort of electrostatic protection built in to them _ most are metal. If it does get zapped the static goes around the drive. Ounce they're inside they're safe.
What you do need to worry about is when you are initially opening up your laptop and handling the drive, make sure that your are statically discharged.

  • Maybe a dumb question, about which power connectors to use, but....

This may sound like an incredibly dumb question, but here goes anyway....
I upgraded my system a few weeks ago, and will be slapping in a new ATI X850 Pro AGP card in a few days.  My current graphics card is a p.o.s. Radeon 9550, so it doesn't have its own power connector or even a fan.  My PSU is a dual-rail Antec model, and I'm wondering if it should matter any about how many or which devices I have connected to each power cable set.  My psu came with cables to attach, only 2 of the 4 though are the 4-pin molex - the other 2 are pci-e power connectors I believe.  Should it make a difference which or how many devices I connect to each cable?  For ease of plugging in, I believe my DVDRW and CDRom are using 1 cable, and my ide drive and floppy are using the other cable. Also, I have a pci fan and a case fan running off 1 or the other.  I'm likely to jump the power cable for the video card off the one the hard drive is using, unless someone has some suggestion to offer to the contrary.
If it makes a difference, can anyone recommend how they would have them connect?
My list of devices to plug in would be:
    1)IDE HDD
    2)Floppy
    3)CDRom
    4)DVDRW
    5)Case Fan
    6)PCI Fan
    7)Video Card
Thanks for any thoughts!  SAB - you seem to be the man on builds.....any ideas?

Well, I put the new card in and connected it on a cable with the optical drives.  Also, I had unwittingly connected my cdrom on the same ide channel as my hdd    , so I changed that so both optical drives are on the secondary ide.
So far, so good.  3dMark03 jumped up from 3300 with an overclocked Radeon 9550 to 10570 with the stock Radeon 850 Pro
I wish I could find some local source to purchase additional molex cords for my Antec SmartPower 2.0 psu, though - I've got 2 more 'outlets' just sitting there on the psu doing nothing, because the other cables are for pci-e, and I'm not using pci-e......  If I could buy some additional molex cables to plug in like the ones that came with it, I could have the vid card on its own cable....

  • Question about Toshiba Bluetooth stack V.4

    Hi
We have a Fujitsu Siemens P7120 Laptop which requires the Toshiba Bluetooth stack located at http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/pages/download.php
When we install this in silent mode, the installation takes place however the Bluetooth does not initialise until the Toshiba Bluetooth information exchanger is launched!
Is there anyway to make the whole installation complete without this other step?

You should use the BT-stack of FSC. I also tried to install an OEM version of the Toshiba BT-stack, but in this case it was time limited. So check the "About" menu item to get get more details.

  • Question about j2me bluetooth lack of documentation!

I don't know if I am searching in the wrong places. I am coding a simple (at least for now) java application that communicates through bluetooth.
I have been using the j2me api available at http://java.sun.com/javame/reference/apis/jsr082/
But it lacks all sort of information! The API is there... the class and methods are there but nothing is explained....
For example, if you follow the link above to the api, then click in the DiscoveryAgent, then go to the definition of the method searchServices, this is what it tells you:
public int searchServices(int[] attrSet, UUID[] uuidSet, RemoteDevice btDev, DiscoveryListener discListener) throws BluetoothStateException
I can see the declaration, I even deduce what each argument is supposed to be, but..... attrSet???? what is this.... there is a complete lack of information on everything, I find myself googling for everything and finding magic numbers that sometimes make things work. Is there any online resources for bluetooth j2me programming?
By the way... this thing about the attrSet is my latest doubt... if you know what values can be used in there please let me know:)
But my problem is not about this particular method... is about all of the documentation.
If anyone can point me into some place where a good specification can be found i would much appreciate it

found this :) I think it's the answer to my problems.

  • Question:about internal order of RD project

a internal order of the RD project can count cost according to two different RD phrase?
one part will be count  into gains and losses, the other will be count into immaterial assets
who can tell me how to do in sap ?

Do you mean "count" is allocated ?
If it is the case, you can split in settlement rule, the first receiver is GL account and second receiver is fixed asset. You can split by %.
Otherway is use Project with 2 WBS element that settle to GL Account and Asset.

  • Logic board bluetooth connector

So I've been doing some research on installing bluetooth into my 12" iBook G4 (bought in June of 2004). I've found the Apple parts online but for about a total cost of $120. I don't really have that much money to spend on getting internal bluetooth so I've been looking for some other options. I found this website http://www3.telus.net/thewitt/BT/ that shows how to install a USB dongle inside the iBook and hook it up to one of the external USB ports, thus disabling one of the USB ports permanately.
However, I've been wondering what type of connection the bluetooth connector on the logic board is. I've found two different references to a "micro USB cable" (post #13 here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=80580 ) that connects the Apple bluetooth board to the logic board http://www.welovemacs.com/9226126.html
My question is what type of connection is the bluetooth connector on the logic board of the iBook?
If it is truly a USB port then i think i could follow the tutorial on putting an after-market USB dongle insdie of the iBook, but instead of wiring it to one of the external USB ports, i could wire it to a connector cable and then connect the USB dongle to the internal bluetooth connector, thus giving me internal bluetooth without losing any of the external ports. Hope that makes sense, any feed back on my plan would be great, but I REALLY need to know for sure what type of connection the logic board uses for Apple's bluetooth board.

You won't be able to get direct help from Apple or through an Apple Store as you are NOT an Aurhorized Apple Technician.
If you have another Authorized Apple reseller/repair center that you can locate in and around your region, you maybe able to have that authorized Apple center order the part for you.
If Is this a connector that was soldered to the Logic Board, if you find an authorized Apple repair center that can resolder the old connector OR desolder/resolder a new purchased  replacement connector that would be best.
Otherwise, you are out of luck and will have to pay to get a new, replacement Logic board.
This is what happens when someone, like yourself, who maybe a newbie/novice with Macs and with iMacs that decides to break into a Mac that was never designed for the inexperienced users to tinker with and upgrade these style Macs.
This is a very difficult Mac model to work on for very experienced Mac upgraders!
I consider myself very experienced with upgrading Macs over the years, and even I won't break into these new, aluminum style iMacs.
Apple designers and engineers have made these iMacs pretty much a daunting and tedious task for an end user to upgrade anything or work on anything inside of these Macs.
As you have found out the hard way, there a lot of fiddly, finicky small parts and connectors that can be prone to breakage.
I have given you my best advice, but bottom line you are now completely on your own to fix this, now.
If you need a new Logic board replacement, Apple MAY ( or may not) decide to help you and order and install a new logic board. This will be expensive.
You will have better luck with an authorized Apple reseller/repair center for the Logic Board replacement if it comes to that, but you'll still pay for the expensive replacement.

  • Tecra 8100 CPU gets too hot

Well, some could remember my previous post about fan activation in my Tecra 8100.
This notebook came to me as a gift by a customer, because screen didn't work. After a bit of research, the problem was the internal cold cathode, that was broken. Once replaced: yup! a free notebook for me!! It was a Pentium III 650 Mobile, with 64MB of RAM and a 12GB hard disk. I replaced all those componentes (that are now for sale, btw) and it now has a Pentium III 850 Mobile, 512MB of RAM and a 40GB hard disk. Some one gave me a PCMCIA 11Mbps WiFi card, and now how it is working, with Windows XP Professional and updated Toshiba utilities and drivers downloaded from Toshiba USA.
What's the buzz? SpeedFan, Motherboard Monitor and other monitoring utilities reports temperatures of up to 72?ºC in the CPU. I opened the notebook and put thermal paste instead of the sticker the heatsink has. Temperature keeps high, and Toshiba Utilities even at "high performance cooling" settings doesn't make the fan cool the cpu...
I have not hangs at all, but notebook case and pcmcia cards get too hot even with the system working with no apps running. Lowering the CPU clock or ratio doesn't help at all.
I'm thinking of putting an extra fan somewhere to force air flow and that way cool the cpu, unless that...
...Toshiba could develop an utility that allows to directly control fan speed. I don't know if thermal management is hardware or software driven. If it's software driven, it should be easy to create a utility that access directly to fan and temperature registers. That would be MUCH better that simply let the computer decide when and how long to activate the fan.
I'm sure that Toshiba engineers are busy with more important things that will not allow them to create the utility for us, so...
...what to check or do to cool down the CPU to more appropiate values?
    Thanks all!

    Hi
Like in you previous posting described the Toshiba power saver controls the CPU and fan usage.
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=12585
This software works great and if you use the notebook as prescribed, you shouldn't get any problems and overheating issues.
The problem is that you have changed all devices and parts on you notebook. The new parts are efficient but produce more warmness.
On the notebook you can cool the CPU with one little fan and if it doesn't last out, it's necessary to decrease the CPU performance.
This is a simple fact. All these functions can be set with power saver.
Furthermore it's very important that your cooling module is clear and no dust and debris handicap the fan working.

  • Questions about installing a large internal hard drive

    Hello all,
I recently bought a Seagate 250GB internal hard drive for my Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics). I intend to install it alongside my old 20GB drive. I have a couple of questions about installing it:
    • What kind of PCI card do I need in order to use the full capacity of the drive?
    • I'm considering partitioning the drive and installing Debian Linux on one partition. Is it possible that Debian won't recognize the PCI card?
    • Is it possible to connect (RAID?) the old and new drives together so that they appear as one big 270GB drive? Is this a good idea?
    • What is the easiest way to copy the contents of my old drive onto the new one? I'd like an exact copy so that I don't have to reinstall the system and everything else; can Carbon Copy Cloner do that?
Thanks for any help and advice!
Power Mac G4 - AGP graphics   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   768 MB RAM

    • What kind of PCI card do I need in order to use the
    full capacity of the drive?
If the drive is an SATA drive you need an SATA controller. If an IDE/ATA drive you need an IDE controller.
    • I'm considering partitioning the drive and
installing Debian Linux on one partition. Is it
possible that Debian won't recognize the PCI card?
You should check the Hardware Compatibility List for Debian against your potential mac compatible purchases. You might also get some good information from Yellow Dog Linux compatibility lists.
    • Is it possible to connect (RAID?) the old and new
drives together so that they appear as one big 270GB
drive? Is this a good idea?
If you want to stripe the 2 dives together your overall performance will be slowed down by the slower of the two drives. For example, If you have one 5400rpm drive and another 7200rpm drive, the RAID will be bogged down by the slower drive so you wont get the full benefit of the lower latencies of the 7200. You will still get some of the faster transfer times, just not the lower latencies.
Wether or not it's a good idea depends on your personal needs. Do you need a drive that can can move very large files to and from memory quickly (bandwidth) or a drive that can locate and serve up the files quickly (latency)?
    • What is the easiest way to copy the contents of my
old drive onto the new one? I'd like an exact copy
so that I don't have to reinstall the system and
everything else; can Carbon Copy Cloner do that?
CCC should work fine for you. You could also use the command line asr utility.

  • Questions about the ipod camera connector...

    Hi,
i got some questions about the ipod camera connector.
1)Is the camera connector compatible with the Sony camera DSC-P93A ?
In fact, this camera got PTP protocol.
    PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) Oui
Marque PIM (Print Image Matching) Oui
    PictBridge™ Oui
So, do the camera need to have the three following protocols to be compatible with the camera connector ?
=>Mass Storage, PTP, and Type 4
Or maybe does it need only one of it??
    2) Is it compatible with a USB memory card reader?
    Thank you

Wel, if i've right understood what you said, my camera is compatible because it got PTP protocol ?
That's weird, cause i wrote a mail to sony to ask them about the compatibility of my camera, but they answered that it wasn't. But of course, i'll prefer to believe you than them !
