Question about IO Ports on A2109 IdeaPad

Hello Everyone:
In a couple of months I'm going to be getting a IdeaPad A2109 Tablet.
I couldn't find manuals for it on Lenovo's site so I came here and found the links that I needed Thanks to those forum poster{s}.
I ran accross in those links the maintance manual and was excited because I couldn't find anything about any of the connections on the tablet.
And any pictures that Lenovo had on their site while good in general didn't in anyway help really in identifying any of the ports.
I tried to the best of my ability to figure them out, But in any event I digrise...
I seen in the manual that it said the Micro usb port was used for Sync to your computer and charging.
OK I figured I can hook my Mini usb Keyboard to that with NP because I already had found out that you could also cahrge the tablet off your computer using one of it's usb ports.
And it also said it has a DC JACK?
Which I took as ity having a seperate connection for normal powering from the cahrging of the Micro usb port.
But yet the diagram gives No Indication of a seperate DC Jack?
My question is this does the IdeaPad A2109 have a Seperate place to plug in your "NORMAL POWER CORD"???
Or is the Micro usb port used for the "NORMAL POWERING" of the Tablet as well???
I really hope that the DC Jack is seperate from the Micro usb port so that I can still hook the odd thing to it while still being hooked to AC....
If not could anyone tell me how I could use it for both at the sametime?
Also let me take the chance to Thank the poster that answered a thread about where the Micro SD Card went, or I would've been pulling my hair out trying to find it...
I take it that the Max Size SD Card is 32gb?
Sorry for all the questions just trying to know all that I can before I buy my new Tablet.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Some angled adapters will block the HDMI port. This is not a problem for most things but if you plan on keeping your device plugged into power, keyboard etc.... You will not be able to access the mini HDMI.

  • A question about opening ports

I have a question about opening ports with the airport. I need to open up ports UDP 88 & 3074 and port TCP 3074. I am wondering if I should open these ports for the specific IP address on my network that will be using them or if I should open the ports on the gateway IP (10.0.1.1) not sure which is the right route to take. Any help would be appreciated.
These are for running an xbox over xbox live.

Typically, you will want to open these ports for the device on your local network that needs to be accessed from the Internet. In this case, it would be your Xbox 360.
Unfortunately, the AirPorts are not listed as Xbox Live-compatible routers ... so there is no guarantee doing this will get Open NAT status for Xbox Live.
The following web blog does a great job explaining the NAT issues with Xbox Live. Basically what it comes down to is that although you can get an Internet connection for the Xbox 360 with the AirPorts, you may not get the necessary NAT setting (Moderate or Open) for the Xbox Live game that you want to play. As such, Port mapping may be required to allow Xbox Live access.
The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly:
    • UDP 88
    • UDP 3074
    • TCP 3074
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the Xbox 360.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC hardware address of the Xbox>
    o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
    o Public UDP Port(s): 88, 3074
    o Public TCP Port(s): 3074
o Private IP Address: <enter the DHCP Reserved IP address for the Xbox you created earlier>
    o Private UDP Port(s): 88, 3074
    o Private TCP Port(s): 3074
    o Click "Continue"

  • Question about opening ports

    Hi All,
I've recently had some problems trying to video chat with a new person. They're on a pc using AIM 5.9. I've been able to chat with a different pc user before as well as some ichat users. I can also successfully connect to the Apple test severs. I've never done any port forwarding/triggering on my router (Netgear wgt624v3). I know that just about every thread here having to do with connection problems talks about opening up a bunch of ports. So my question is should I have to do that if I'm able to connect to the Apple servers, a different pc user and other ichat users without having done anything to my router?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
If you can call out to many people and have one that you can not contact there are twoi possibilities.
    1) They have not set up their end.
    2) You and they are set up but are having problems with the way the other device does NAT.

  • Satellite P850 - question about Infrared port

    Hi,
I have Windows 8 Pro installed onto my laptop and I've downloaded all the drivers and everything is working fine apart from the Infrared. I've searched all over the internet and I can't find a remote control to use with this laptop (including the Toshiba website).
I've installed the latest ENE CIR Driver (v4.1) as well as the Toshiba Remote Control Manager (v3.1.0.1). I looked in Program Files to open the Toshiba Remote Control Manager however when I click on the program to open it... Nothing happens (including in the notification area).
So my question is can I actually get a remote working with this laptop at all and if not then what is this Infrared port for because I can't find anything on my computer to actually use it with/for?!
    Thanks for your help :p

    Hi
Some Satellite P850 models are equipped with the remote controller and its possible to use the remote controller with Windows Media Center to play discs or videos, to view pictures and to watch recorded TV programs.
Models which dont include the a remote controller are *NOT* equipped with the an infrared receiver so the notebook cannot be operated with a remote controller.
The remote controller was not part of the package so your notebook does not support infrared receiver and therefore the installation of ENE CIR Driver and Toshiba Remote Control Manager was useless

  • Hola!!!Yesterday, I asked a question about serial port comunication, because I wanted to find a function in Labview similar to "ProcessSystem Events" in Labwindows!!

My problem is that I have written a comand through the serial port, and I doesn´t receive the answer. If I execute the programm step by step, I don´t have any problem but if the program runs i don´t get the answer!!!It is not a problem of the bytes that I write and receive, i have used the function "Visa Bytes at Serial Port"!!I have used th function "wait" but it doesn´t work!!!!i have used a Flat sequence but it hasn´t solved the problem!!so, i don´t know what i can do!!!
I attach the "different versions" that i did, maybe someone find a solution!!
Dennis, I have the problem, when
I read the last time in the program, I don´t receive the answer!thank you!!!

    Dear Mads;
    Thank you for your answer.
I don´t have a termination character but I know the number of bytes that I have to receive. I tried checking the number of bytes that I received, using "Bytes at Port", but it gets a value and it isn´t refreshed, it has a value so my program stop in the while structure that I have added. I attach the vi. I don´t know how to do that. I am starting with Labview, and it is a little difficult for me!!
In the first change that I did, I added the function "Bytes at Port" inside the While loops, but it doesn´t work either !!!
    Thank you!

  • Quick Question about charging port

---I had the issue today of my phone randomly making the "charge initiation" noise well after I had plugged it in. Almost as if it had stopped charging for a split second and then reinitiated. Very curious if this would be related to the charging port or the cable itself. Having a hard time recreating the issue, hoping it was just a freak occurrence.

U don't have 2 install software 2 charge it. as long as it's plugged in 2 the USB, it'll charge cuz usb gives power all the time.

  • Question about Ethernet Port

Fumbling in the dark, I knocked by 12" G4 off the table. It must have landed where the ethernet cable connects to the port. I'm now unable to access the network using ethernet. Everything else works okay -- I can use wifi, and all the applications work normally. The reason I use ethernet is because once in a while my wifi connection drops (due to a baby monitor nearby?).
Do you think this would be a simple fix, or should I bring it in to a shop? My husband is pretty handy with computers and has torn his old G3 apart several times.

Nancy: This is probably going to require replacing the logic board, to which the Ethernet port is (was) soldered. It's a difficult job, and the part will cost $200-300 used.

  • Noob question about swicthing port on a router

I am trying to understanding vlan on switch and router with packet tracer 6.
I thought switching port on a router will act as it does on a switch (mine are 2960).
I use a router with 1 WAN port and 4 switching port to emulate my cisco 881 (without wireless). Everything was working good with my 5 switches and 4-5 VLAN..then doing a ping test between VLAN.. I discovered that PC belonging to differents vlan can ping each other on a router - switching port...then i remake a basic scenario and post it here. i probably missed a basis of vlan.
FA 0/0 (the WAN port) is not connected.
FA 0/0/0 are port switching on the rooter.
According to my image...why pc0 is able to ping pc1 as there is not a specific route between them on the rooter...May be it is the C on the left side meanig connected..thought we need a static route to make one network communicate with another if they are not on the same network.

The actual ports you connect the PCs to are L2 ports only ie they are not L3 so they cannot route. But you have also configured L3 SVIs (Switched Virtual Interfaces) on your router and it those that are doing the routing.
An SVI is a virtual L3 interface. So from your configuration where you do a "sh ip int" you can see at the bottom
    vlan 10  192.168.0.1/24
    vlan 99  192.168.99.1/24
those are your SVIs.  If you also look at your routing table it shows entries for both your subnets as directly connected routes with those SVIs as well.
If you do a "sh run" you should see in your configuration something like this  -
    int vlan 10
    ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0
    int vlan 99
    ip address 192.168.99.1 255.255.255.0
SVIs are generally seen on L3 switches and as as i say there are not configured on the actual port. The idea is a switch could have say 24 ports in vlan 10 and 24 ports in vlan 11 and then you simply configure SVIs for both vlans and now clients in each vlan can communicate with each other.
So to be precise SVIs are virtual L3 interfaces for a L2 vlan. They act much like physical L3 ports eg fa0/0 from your example ie. you can apply acls etc. to them but they do have differences.
    Hope that makes sense.
Edit - to confirm all of the above you can simply remove or shut down one of the SVIs and the PCs should no longer be able to communicate.

  • Question about editing port forwarding rules on the Actiontec

I notice that it seems to combine all rules entered for a specific internal IP address into a group.  unfortunately, I don't see an option to edit the inidividual rules, or delete them.  It appears to only allow the deletion of the entire rule group?  So do I need to write down each of the rules pointing to a single IP address and then delete the group and enter the rules I want to keep back into the router?  Thanks.

    Hello,
Do you see an option to edit under advanced filtering?  I would like to check into this for you I sent you a DM to start.

  • QUICK QUESTION ABOUT PORTS

Hi, I have a quick question about port forwarding/mapping. My question, lets say I am running MSN messenger, who's ports are 6880-6900. But lets say I am running a torrent application or something else that requires those ports. If both applications were running at the same time, would this cause interference with them on the same ports or now. Thanks
    Nathan

Normally, only one application can listen to a specific port number at a time. If MSN is grabbing those 21 ports then your torrent app won't be able to run.
However, most apps don't work that way - even if they use multiple ports, they don't use them all at the same time, so MSN might use 6880 when it starts up, leaving the others open for other applications to use if needed.
Only experimentation will answer that one.

  • Question About FireWire 800 port

With the coming of these new Firewire ports I have a question about using my FireStudio Project, It uses normal Firewire, now will I need to buy a Adaptor, or does apple even make one?? Will this still work, I don't get why they had to change it anyway, I mean I know it's faster, but now it's just more adaptors I have to buy, that is if they even make one.

There are plenty of adapters and cables out there. They're not that expensive ($5-$30). You can get a 9 pin to 6 pin firewire adapter and use whatever cable you used before. You could also get a 6 pin to 9 pin adapter. Do a search on amazon or your favorite electronics store, and you'll find plenty. Here's what Apple sells:

  • Question about ports

    Hi,
I have a clarification question about ports and Java. Assuming all firewalls are disabled on a PC, a Java application can connect to any port via a socket to communicate with other PCs, as long as this port is not used by another application.
    Is the following correct:
    a) Two applications (Java or no) cannot connect to the same port together, ever.
    b) Two Java applications sending and receiving datagram over a given multicast address using the same port can never communicate with each other when ran on the same PC because of a).
    Thanks,

Yes. As long as that port is not already bound for listening.
If you mean a client application can connect to any port where a server is listening, then it doesn't matter if another client is talking to the server on that port, as long as the server is written to handle concurrent connections.

    a) Two applications (Java or no) cannot connect to the same port together, ever. No, see above. Unless by "connect" you mean "bind". (Even that may be incorrect terminology.)
    b) Two Java applications sending and receiving datagram over a given multicast address using the same port can never communicate with each other when ran on the same PC because of a).Not sure exactly what you're saying here.
Really, though, why not just write some code and try it?

  • Question about port C++ code to C

    I have a newbie question about C++
I'm being ask to port a C++ sharelib into a kernel driver for work so from C++ => C.  I'm not at all familiar with C++ but i'm making some leeway.  However i'm a little stuck, what does the following line of code in bold mean in C++ and how would I translate it into C code?
    #include <deque>
    struct _buffer
        UINT8* buffer;
        UINT8 length;
    typedef deque< struct _buffer* > MSGQUEUE;
I'm assuming it's type defining a deque of the struct _buffer???  but I'm confused by the <...>, what does that operator do in C++.  Is it defining a struct _buffer pointer within the deque???
This might like a "DUH it means...." question to some people so sorry about the stupid question.
    --Vincent

<> is template syntax and is generally the type of object a container holds..   So it is defining that the MSGQUEUE type is a deque holding struct_buffer*'s.

  • Re: Question about the Satellite P300-18Z

    Hello everyone,
I have a couple of questions about the Satellite P300-18Z.
What "video out" does this laptop have? (DVI, s-video or d-sub)
Can I link the laptop up to a LCD-TV and watch movies on a resolution of 1080p? (full-HD)
What is the warranty on this laptop?

    Hello
According the notebook specification Satellite P300-18Z has follow interfaces:
DVI - No DVI port available
HDMI - HDMI-out (HDMI out port available)
Headphone Jack - External Headphone Jack (Stereo) available
.link - iLink (Firewire) port available
Line in Jack - No Line in Jack port available
Line out Jack - No Line Out Jack available
Microphone Jack - External Micrphone Jack
    TV-out - port available (S-Video port)
VGA - VGA (External monitor port RGB port)
Also you can connect it to your LCD TV using HDMI cable.
Warranty is country specific and clarifies this with your local dealer but I know that all Toshiba products have 1 year standard warranty and also 1 year international warranty. you can of course expand it.
