Question about Ipad authorizations

I am having trouble with my Ipad on a new hard drive, and am trying to troubleshoot it.  My question is this: Suppose I have 4 authorizations on my Ipad already (I know the limit is 5  and then I have to wipe them all out).  If I deauthorize 1 of those 4, does the count go down to 3, or does it stay at 4?
The reason I ask is, I still have one working computer that will sync my Ipad.  I am thinking of deauthorizing this new computer, uninstalling ITunes, and trying again, to fix my problem.
BTW my problem has been asked in another thread, and has not been solved in that thread or similar threads.  It's the "grayed out apps" problem, and I see a lot of people get in this situation.

The 5 authorisation limit is for your iTunes account on computer(s) (not the iPad) - if you de-authorise your computer then it will go down to 3, and you can then re-authorise it. (Also the 'de-authorise all' can only be done once every 12 months.)
If your apps are greyed out on the Apps tab, then on the iPad is Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps set 'off'

    Hello ,
I want to ask some question about ipads \
    How powerful is the iPad?
How useful is it for reading books, newspaper or magazines or for surfing the web?
Can you identify any shortcomings of the device?
    please help me

it's less powerful than your average computer. THink of it like a netbook but with a better processor.
It'll do fine for surfing (although if you browse a lot of flash based sites you will need to get a third party browser since safari doesn't accommodate it)
You may do OK on reading books, papers or magazines, especially if they have apps, but the ipad's screen is backlit, so it doesn't work well outdoors and you may need to fiddle with the brightness so that you don't get eye strain (it's just like doing too much reading from a computer screen)
I would say the biggest short comings are data transfer. Apple's preferred work flow is that everything is done via iTunes or the internet....well people dont' always have 100% reliable always on internet access so you can find yourself in a situation where you can't get things on/off the iPad.
By and large, it's a good device for day to day stuff, but is not a computer replacement.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • Have a few questions about iPad before I get one

I have a few questions about getting an ipad before I committ to get one.
I have about 24 gb of itunes purchases in my itunes library, I am thinking of getting the 64 gb ipad. However, after you purchase the 64 gb, it will not truly be 64 gb,
    1) how much actual storage space would I have on a 64 gb ipad accounting for the os? On my macbook now I have a 164 gb hard drive but only access to about 148 gb for example.
    2) Would I be able to store the 24 gb of itunes purchases in icloud? How would I do that? Would I keep needing to go into the Purchase History tab in the ITunes store and download the song when I want to listen to it? My concern with this is that the item will no longer be "available in the Itunes store" and I will lose access to my music I purchased?
I would like to ditch the laptop and just have the ipad as my computer but want to know about these questions I have first.
    3) Can ipad and iphone now be charged without needing a laptop? Per last year's June 2011 conference when Lion and ICloud were announced, it was stated in Fall 2011 with iOS5 that people could get ipads and iphones and charge them without needing a laptop for syncing?

    1. About 57 on mine
    2. Subscribe to iTunes Match at a cost of about $25 per year - 25000 song limit I think
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
    3. The iPad comes with a power adapter that plugs into a wall socket and that is the recommended way to charge it anyway. - not by using a computer
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
You do not absolutely need a computer in order to use an iPad but you have to do more research to figure out if it will fit your needs that way.

  • Question about ipads features?

wanting to know if its really worth it?i mean $700 and $829 for a 64 gb? my ipod bigger then that..it seems not worth it with such little storage..i mean for the price..i mean they're really cool and the in thing to have..also i would like to know can these play flash?or is it really just like a huge ipod touch or iphone?what makes it different from those?

    Well, it depends.
I see the questions you are asking are the usual trivial 'negative' points most anti-Apple posters ask (but are not really asking a question...just trotting out over-inflated features that were never designed into the iPad to begin with)
First. Price. The iPad's start at $499. Which is for a 16gb Wifi version. The prices you brought up are for the 32gb and 64gb Wifi-3g. Which hasn't even been released yet. A good netbook (new not refurbed) will run almost as much as the $499 model. The other tablets that are available, and not vapor-ware, cost as much and have thier own 'feature set' that has shortcomings. So, the prices are in line with what's available. Not overpriced.
Second. Flash. Ok, it does not run flash. When the iPad was released all the "Technology" writers poo-pooed this 'shortcoming'. This is actually not that big an issue. Many websites like ABC, CNN, ESPN, Netflix, and soon Hulu, are all writing HTML5 or Apps that are not Flash dependant. This will still leave some sites that are not useable for the iPad (or iPhone, Touch, and some other OS's). Matter of fact the highly touted 'iPad killer' Adam by Notion Ink is being delayed becuase of Flash incompatibilties (among other reasons). The Joo-Joo can, sort-of-kinda, run Flash but according to reviews it runs everything so badly it's a non-issue.
Third. Niche. The iPad is not a phone, a laptop, a desktop, a UMD, or even a netbook. It was designed and marketed as a 'third' device. A media consumption device. It's not a Kindle but can dance to the tune. It's not an iPod but plays music very well. It's not a replacement for a laptop or desktop but can run light content creation apps. It does email very well. It has a large and varied selection of apps that can make it a light duty presentation device.
In other words, it's not an anti-matter powered, coffee dispensing, hot tub time machine. It's a very portable 'about the house' or 'coffee shop companion'. As much as the "anything but Apple" critics wanna compare it to what is availabe (and things that are not even released yet) except for the Archos 9, there isn't anything that really is in the same market. The Archos 9 is cool, but, it has it's drawbacks too. Namely running a 'desktop' OS built for keyboard and mouse input on a 'touch-screen' device. The Lenova S10-3t is another 'tablet like' device that is well-built but because of requirements of legacy products and it's OS draws 'meh' reviews. Go look them up on Amazon and read the reviews. The iPad handily beats them in the market it's designed for.
If you don't understand this..or just posted it to get a rise out of us "Apple Users" go shopping somewhere else (PC)...they'll be more than happy to take your money and give you EXACTLY what you deserve.

  • Technical question about iPAd flash memory ,memory, videocard

    hello,
I like to know if the ssd or flashmemory and the memory and the video card they are all solderd on logical unit or the motherboard?
and the logical unit is the name of motherboard in iPad.
    thanks
    johan

Yes. Everything is soldered onto the logic board. There are no removable parts
Here's a picture of the inside of an iPad Air.

As you can see most of the space is taken up by the battery. Everything else is part of the logic board on the right side.  Including Processor, storage and video Chips

  • Question about iPad 3

    Hello at the Apple Support
My name is Michael Herteg and i'm a iPad 2 user.
I've in mind to buy the iPad 3, but i would like to know how much mA/h has the Battery of iPad 3???
    Thanks in Advance
    With best Regards Michael

    I read this on ZDNet:
    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/new-ipads-most-revolutionary-feature-is-its-b attery/18985
"Between the release of the iPad 2 last year and the announcement of the new iPad yesterday, Apple has nearly doubled the capacity of the battery, taking it from 25 Wh to a massive 42 Wh.  Measured in milliamps, this boosts the battery from 6944 mAh to a monstrous 11,666 mAh."

  • Question about iPad

How can I tell if my iPhone or iPad sends and receives at 2.4GHZ or at 5GHZ.

How can I tell if my iPhone or iPad sends and receives at 2.4GHZ or at 5GHZ.
The iPhone can only receive a signal at 2.4 GHz, so if you have an Airport Express, you'll need to set it up at the 2.4 GHz frequency. Then your iPad will receive a signal at 2.4 GHz as well.
If you configure the AirPort Express to provide a signal at 5 GHz, the iPhone will not be able to connect.

  • Photography question about iPad photos

I am a professional photographer and got the iPad in order to show photos to clients. I was wondering if there was a way to display my photo number instead of the way the iPad numbers them 1,2,3....etc. I need my photo numbers in order to place my orders. Please help!

I think the iPad sorts photos by shooting date (if EXIF data is in the file) and if not by file creation date.
I think it's a good idea to suggest to Apple (via feedback) that they add a simple sort features in their photos app. Just like you can rearrange the icons on the main screen.

  • Questions about mac mini iTunes server, streaming to macbook pro, ipads, etc.

I'm thinking about getting a mac mini to work with my NAS as a iTunes server. I have a bunch of questions about this. I will have two iPhones, a few iPads, and a laptop that will be accessing the files. I have iTunes match. This is basically to keep an always on computer for hosting the music/movies. My questions are as follows . . .
#1 Are there any good, comprehensive guides to show you how to do this?
#2 Can the movies be accessed when not at home on the shared network?
#3 Can the iPads or the macbook pro download the shared movies to be stored locally?
#4 Back to #3, how will it work on my macbook pro with listening to music (I have iTunes match)? Say i go to library and I break out my macbook pro and I don't have internet. What happens if I download music while at home onto my macbook pro to listen to it when I go to the library? Will i start a new library on my macbook pro? How will that mesh with the home server when I come back.
#5 Is there a way to mirror files or folders? So something that I have on my macbook pro will also mirror on the home server.
Thanks for your help on this. I'll post any follow up questions.

    1. I want to replace the Optical drive with a 2TB SATA. can I use this 2.5 inch?
I do not know if it is the same model number, but this one will work in your MBP:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/SEAGATE%20OWC/ST2000LM003M/
    2. I want to replace the HD with a 128GB SSD 840. When I replace these drives, will my OS still be in tact? I have never done this job before.
No. You will have to format the drives in Disk Utility>Erase to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then install the OSX by using the original install disks.
3.) I want to replace the ram sticks to max capacity. This is 2 2GB sticks, Correct?
No.  An early 17" 2008 MBP will accept 6GB RAM with the following specifications:  200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.  The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
    4.) Most difficult...
I want to extend the monitor wirelessly to a projector. I thought about using Apple TV and Airplay. However, support for airplay is for MacBooks 2011 and newer. I thought of using a PS3 and the media server, but I think this brings on a format compatibility issue. (my library is so large I could not afford to convert all my movies to MP4.) So, how would you recommend I put my extended monitor with VLC player onto a projector?
Could I possibly connect the MBP to a Mac Mini as an extension? would this work natively? I would rather use a VGA cord than F with 3rd party app BS.
    Cannot help you there.
5..) I want to Bypass iTunes this time around. I would prefer to use Finder and VLC to manage all of my music. I mostly play all my music on shuffle, so, could I create a playlist on VLC with all of my music and play it randomly? (im sure this is possible but i'd like to organize all my plans with confirmation.)
You are not obligated to use iTunes.
6.) Can i upgrade the keyboard to backlit? i've read that this is possible.
All MBPs have back lighted keyboards.  Your either needs a NVRAM reset or a repair.
    Ciao.

Question about ICloud. Do I have to back-up my iPad and iPhone4 to iCloud b4 sync with iTunes? Last time I synced iphone4 with iTunes, I updated to 5.0.1 when I connected, but it wiped my calendar entries. I had to reset to the last date I had synced (4months ago). So my question is... Now that I have iCloud, should I back up both my iPhone and my iPad before I sync with iTunes?  And will all the data from iPad, iPhone, and computer all merge when the iPad and iPhone are synced?

    It does not matter.

    Not as such.
Give the AppleTV units unique names and also enable Airplay password in settings with unique passwords for each teacher.
