Question about iPhone/iPod and playing songs

Hi all,
This is my first question here, so please be patient with me if I'm rambling, or this is posted in the wrong forum.
I've recently downloaded a language learning course and want to put it on my iPhone so I can learn Italian as I'm on the bus. While it's great having this course at my fingertips, I want to keep these particular audio files from playing when I'm listening to music on the iPod.
So my question(s) is this..is it possible to somehow ADD files to the iPhone (iPod) while excluding them from the general iPod playlist? I don't want to have to skip over these files each time I'm listening to music, but I still want to keep the files on the iPhone(iPod). If it is possible, how would I go about it?

There's a work around by using playlists in computer's iTunes.
In iTunes, create one playlist with all the songs you want on the iPhone.
Create another with your language courses.
Sync with the selected playlists in iTunes when connected to the iPhone.
(With iPhone connected and selected in iTunes, in Music tab select Sync Music, Selected playlists, artists, ... and checked the two playlists mentioned above. Click Sync button.)
Now on iPhone you can choose music or language course playlist without interferences.

Question about iphone 3g and old ipod charger

hello
i brought an ipond nano and got fitted in my car the CONNECTS2 I-CONNECT FM CAR IPOD ADAPTOR

now the question i have is when i plug this into my iphone 3g, it states this connection is not suitable for chargeing ipohne, all be it, it still plays music perfect
after doing some reading i found out iphone 3g have moved the charging pins around for some strange reason
so will this do any damage to my iphone if i carry on useing it, or will there be an adaptor to convert one back to the other

ok brought one of these from apple, plugged it into my car and still get the same message saying this is not suitable for charging and do you want to go into plane status etc etc
anyhow it still charges fine and plays music fine
anyone else had this problem ?
will it be ok ?

Question about my ipod and iTunes

I am stuck! Every time I connect my ipod into iTunes and try to update and then when it says updating ipod, do not disconnect, suddenly a pop up appears and says that iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
What do I do????????

I think you should try what was already suggested. There are programs other than iTunes that can manage your iPod music anyway, so if we're unable to successfully debug your iTunes problem you won't be completely stuck without music on your iPod. But I suspect mods wouldn't like it if I told you about the other software so you'll have to Google around for it yourself, as a last resort of course.
P.S. Katrina in your computer specs do you mean 3GHz instead of 300GHz maybe? Or 3000MHz or 300MHz? =)

Simple question about iPhone backups and password

I can't remember the password to my iPhone-backup in iTunes. But, phew, I haven't lost any data, as I have my iPhone with all data intact. So I deleted the backup in iTunes, and tried to start a fresh backup with a new password. But alas, that doesn't seem to be possible (it backs up, but doesn't ask for a password, and when trying to uncheck encryption I get asked for a password).
Does this mean iTunes now won't let me back up and retrieve the data I actually have on my very own phone? And does it mean that I now have two options:
a. Keep on using my iPhone, keeping the data on it, but without the ability to backup and retrieve the backups, or
b. restore and set up my iPhone as a new device, losing all my data

If you update you will not be able to go back to a previous iOS version. The iOS is not included in the backup. The following link gives details of what is included: iTunes: About iOS backups

Question about iphone apps and saved data.

So let's say I'm playing a game from the app store on my iphone and I beat it. Now I want to buy a new game but I don't have enough space to keep them both on my phone. So I delete the old one from my phone knowing it will still be on my mac. Then I play the new game and beat it and I start wanting to play that old game again. So I put the old one back on my phone and I lost everything I did before. Why? Is there a way I can take an app off my iphone without losing all the saved data?

Here's how it works (from page 179 of the iPhone iOS4 User Guide). You can delete apps you install from the App Store. If you delete an app, data associated with the app is no longer available to iPhone, unless you reinstall the app and restore its data from a backup.
You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data.

Question about iphone 5 and buying it at a non apple store?

My contract has ended with at&t I have the iphone 4S. Well I saw target advertising there trade in and entered my phone info and it said I could get 202.00. If I were to get it thru their could I then go to apple store within 30 days and get the apple care+ protection? Or do both of them have to be purchased from Apple?

Question about Iphone 5 and Hearing Loop

I am unable to use my hearing loop with my phone. This happened suddenly as was working fine and next time plugged in I can bearing hear the book. All of the volume controls are turned as high as possible. I am wondering if there is something that I haven't thought of within the settings that i might have changed by accident? Any help would be appreciated. Using IOS8.1.1on I phone 5, My hearing loop is a uni-dex by Widex and has no volume control on the neckloop.
Just plugs into the phone. . Have spoken with the loop mfr and they just say the volume control comes from the phone so they can't help. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Question about iphone 4 and data plan..

I have the 3GS with unlimited data.
I am getting the iphone 4.
I will be giving 3GS to wife.
Will the unlimited data plan only stay for the 3GS?
Or can it be transferred to the iphone 4?
Or can I get unlimited plan for both since I'm an existing customer?

You can continue with your unlimited plan on the new phone. Your wife will have to choose one of the new data plans for the 3GS.

I recently got an iphone 5S and my songs not purchased from iTunes are grayed out (phone only) and are skipped past when playing them through my iPhone.

I recently got an iphone 5S and my songs not purchased from iTunes are grayed out (phone only) and are skipped past when playing them through my iPhone. i have tried the following:
1) Removing all music from phone and resynced to iTunes PC library.
2) Erased phone and restored from back up
3) Erased phone and started as a new iPhone
4) Reformated the music files in my library that weren't playing
5) Deleted songs from iPhone and computer and re-imported CDs
6) Tried to redownload my COMPLETE MUSIC LIBRARY from iCloud.
7) I have also turned it off and turned it back on several times
8) I tried syncing through my macbook (only moved partial songs to it to see if it would even work).
9) I have tried to get Siri to play them, did not work.
10) All music does play fine on my iPod Touch 3rd (iOS6 i think) gen and iTunes on Mac and PC
11) I added a CD to my roommates iTunes and it plays on their iPhone 5S but not mine.
After all of these things it is now WORSE!!! My iTunes purchased songs are now experiencing the same issue along with some (not all) of the original music files that were skipping and grayed out. My conclusion is i have no clue at this point! I have done everything i have found online in EVERY discussion, i have spent over 60 hours trying to get this to work and i am asking myself, i bought this product why am having to fix this when it worked just fine on my iPod touch (3rd Gen) and iPod Classic!!!! PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS ISSUE FOR US!!!!

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

Sure, it will work just fine that way. Leave the deactivated sim in the phone, as you'll need it should you ever have to restore or upgrade the software on the phone. You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim in the phone.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have a couple of steps for you to try in order to get those songs transferred to your iPod touch. First, make sure all of your software is updated with the latest versions. If the songs were downloaded from iTunes, you will also want to delete the songs from your library and then download them again from the list of past purchases on your iTunes account. If you try a sync after those two steps and are still seeing the issue, then I would like you to try syncing the iPod by setting it to manually manage. An article outlining more information on manually managing your iPod sync can be found here:

Screen blank but can turn on and play songs

I am writing for my wife who's Ipod mini will charge and turn on and play songs all just fine, but she has to select songs and use it from "memory" of what is where and how to move around the menu because there is no display. The backround light still comes on when you turn it on but nothing shows up on screen. I've tried "reseting" the unit by pressing menu and select at the same time and holding but that just shuts the unit off and does not solve any problems, please help this has been on my "honey do" list for way to long......thanks

Is the screen really blank or if you hold it at an angle can you barely make out the words? Did the problem start after loading the most recent update? I have had this problem with my mini since the update. I was able to get to the contrast setting and go as dark as it would go, but it still too bright to see unless it is held at an angle. I haven't gotten any help from Apple about this. I guess my only hope is to wait until they have another update to correct the problems that this update caused. I don't know how to get it back to the previous version.

How to use iPhone, iPod, and single iTunes library

I have an iPhone, iPod and a single iTunes library. I wish to be able to plug either of them into the computer and take individual songs out of the library to play on each. How can this be achieved?

Create playlists for each iPod and sync only the playlists you want on each iPod.
Select the iPod in iTunes.
Clkick the Music tab across the top.
Tick *Sync music* then select *Selected playlists* in the drop down and tick the playlists you want on that iPod.
Do the same for the other.

ICal will no longer sync with macmini still syncs with iPhone, iPod and another mac...what happened?

iCal will no longer sync with wife's mac mini. It works with our iPhone, iPod and and older G5 tower. I am using an iMac. Nothing shows up on the mobile me calendar in her office. I have been unable to get the shared calendar to open on her machine. All had been well until yesterday.

I did restore from back-up as well. And I had thought of restoring my iPod to factory settings however...I just got my mother-in-law's old iPhone 3GS. Upon getting it from her I restored it to factory settings. After having the problems tonight syncing my iPod to iTunes I tried syncing the iPhone. It started out fine, showing it as a new device and setting it up. It shows both devices on my iTunes and then when I went to sync it I got the error message that none of the songs could be copied from my iTunes because they could not be found. But they all clearly show up in my iTunes. I had done this before when I was having the issue with my books and then I had deleted them all from iTunes and readded a few that I wanted to put on my iPod and it still wouldn't sync them. So I really don't want to take absolutely everything off my iPod and restore it to factory only to be unable to add anything from my iTunes ever again as is the case with the iPhone.
