Question about K8N Neo2 Platinum mainboard.

About a couple of weeks ago I found that none of the USB ports of the K8N Neo2 Platinum mainboard are working correctly. Every time I plug a USB device I get the following error message:
"USB Device Not Recognized.
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message."
Because of this, I found that there's a device in the Device Manager called:
Under SCSI and RAID Controllers section:
  + AUL14T9L IDE Controller
The question is for the ones having this same motherboard:
Do you see this device as well?.
Thank you very much!

Think you might try to clear CMOS.
I did it twice this week.
First time I left clearing the CMOS all night. The problem was not fixed.
Second time I left clearing the CMOS all night and I removed the battery as well. All night too. No luck

But first please say what BIOS you got now
The most updated one: 1.0D. Should I try 1.B?

About the unknown device, are motherboard drivers installed? Is there some USB or other devices attached you haven't mentioned?
I installed the motherboard drivers downloaded from the MSI web site:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=587
They are the NVIDIA nForce3 System Drivers:
Win2K/XP driver package 5.03 contains the below components:
Ethernet NRM driver version 4.42 (WHQL)
Network management tools version 4.42
GART driver version 3.77 (WHQL) with updated uninstaller files
SMBus driver version 4.04 (WHQL) with updated uninstaller files
Win2K IDE 2.6 driver version 4.46 (WHQL) with updated uninstaller files
WinXP IDE 2.6 driver version 4.46 (WHQL) with updated uninstaller files
And believe me. Nothing is attached to USB ports.

  • Sound Question for K8N Neo2 Platinum

    Here's my current setup:
    AMD FX-53
    XP-120 heatsink
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Mobo.
    1 GB Crucial Ballistix (Slots 1 & 2)
    NVidia 6800 GT 256 MB
200 GB SATA SEAGATE HDD (SATA3)
    Lite-on Dual Layer  (Model# SOHW-1633S BLK)
    Ultra X-Connect 500W PSU
I am presently using the onboard sound, and I am able to hear left and right channels of sound when using media player, winamp, etc.  I can play both music and dvds.
I'm using the optical output on my mobo, and sending it to my Sony Home Theatre amplifier with an internal 5.1 decoder.  No matter what I do, I can't seem to get 5.1 surround sound.  I set the MSI Sound effect manager Speaker configuration to 6 Speakers, and I have my CD player transmitting sound via the normal 2 pin cd rom audio cable.
Does anyone know why I cannot get 5.1 surround sound when listening to DVD's???  Do I need to connect the digital output on my DVD burner?  If so, where does it connect to the mobo?

My DVD drive didn't come with any kind of driver CD.  I'm trying to use Media Player to run the DVD's.  Is it compatible with Dolby Digital?
Has anyone ever used PowerDVD?  This software came with the DVD burner, but I haven't installed it as I don't know much about it.

  • Question about k8n neo2 temperature regulation

    Hi everybody,
I got a slight problem with my k8n neo2. As posted in the thread of drutten (Always get this message after a cold start up"plz reset overclocking features in the setup menu") I'm experiencing a strange boot behaviour when i turn on the computer the first time. All d-leds remain red for ~ 30 secs and the black screen stays black. Then the computer proceeds through the booting sequence (and my monitor turns on). After the IDE detection i get the error message 'system in safe mode, please reset overclocking features'. After ignoring this message everything runs really perfect.
I observe this error only, when the computer was off for a couple of hours (and actually unplugged as i had a bad experience with a lightning some years ago).
I was just thinking could it be that the computer is actually to cold, when i first switch it on. And that this is somehow read by the mainboard and treated as an error ?
    thanks in advance, vanish

I've just came about a question with the nvidia system utility.
As stated above it reads a hypertransport frequency of 1005 mhz and a memory bus frequency of 402 mhz. My bios settings are htt multiplier = 5x and fsb = 200.
And i never came close to the sliders in the nvidia system utility, i mean i did't set there something myself. I basically just use the system utility to read out the temperature values - as the core center reports only rubbish to me. (system temp alternating between 0°C and N/A & cpu temp in my opinion a bit high and constantly fluctuating). By the way: the cpu voltage is reportet as 1.4, something that i dont believe :-)
The nvidia readout made me guess that the fsb must be 201 mhz to crat such values, therfore i set the fsb in the bios at fsb = 201 and surprise: the nvidia sytem utility reports the htt as 1000 mhz and the ddr frequency as 400 mhz. Does this make sense to anyone of you?
I also got a second question: Does a fsb of 201 do any harm to my system ? (cool and quiet is off, as i understand that this could be troublesome. the agp frequency is 66 mhz).
    Thanx,
    vanish
(hope anyone sees this post in this mistermed thread)
edit: well sisoft sandra reports a htt of 1005 and a ddr freq of 402 regardless of setting the fsb in the bios to 201 or 200. So i guess its a flaw in the nvidia system utility. So
    1. are thes values then normal
    2. can i reduce the values with the bios to 1000 mhz / 400 mhz in some way

  • Question about K8N Neo Platinum and sound

I'm experiencing "gritty" sound when using the onboard sound of the MSI K8N Neo Platinum.  Does anyone know why I'm getting this, and how to fix it?  I'm using Klipsch Promedia speakers.

I couldn't stand the Realtek AC97 audio - it sounded thin and tinny.
    I hated it.
I tried the nVidia drivers and the Readltek drivers, it didn't help - it sucked and there's now way to fix it.
Do your self a favour and get a Audigy 2 ZS (less than $100) and disable the $hitty AC97 audio - much better after doing that

  • Some questions for K8N Neo2 Platinum

Hi guys I'm quite new to Amd64 and just got the Neo2 plat and 3000+ from garage sales 2 days back. Just wanna ask the experts here is it true that sata 1 and 2 for this board doesn't have pci locked? I read this in 1 of the reviews before and it stated something like this...
We should note here, that we did run into issues using SATA 1 and 2 and overclocking. We quickly found out that these two SATA connectors did not lock with the PCI lock. We switched our drive to SATA 3 or 4 and everything was just fine. I am not sure if this can be fixed with a bios update, but unless you like hard drives corrupted, you should use SATA 3 and 4 if you plan on overclocking.
    http://www.bleedinedge.com/reviews/msi_neo/msi_neo_05.html
Anyone has any problems so far about this or this problem has been fixed by newer bios? Another thing is that I'm keen to overclock this chip as I'm reading those overclocking reviews but based on you guys experience, how far can I push using stock hsf with the current idle temp? My load temp for my current setup is 50c max running prime95 stable for 8hrs+
    Cheers

Thanks for the posts guys been a great help. Now I'm reading the issues of this board for the link below and thanks Supershanks for the link. You been a great help
I like MSI products especially their board coz I find their stuff well design and distro is good. I'm also using 865PE Neo2 PLS on my prescott no problem so far but after reading the related problems of this Neo2 Plat from the link above, can I say this board is a quite a failure product?
When I just got this board, I'm having problems when trying to change the HT Multiplier. It just empty when I hit enter and refused to go back even when I hit esc key. Reboot and tried a few times till I figured out it can be changed using the +/- key but this problem is gone after that and my first impression is my new board spolit? I mean don't the engineers or tech guys check through before they released these board to the market? There's no QC for this? Maybe I'm wrong to use the word, QC or etc sorry I might not be good at this. I wonder if they knew this bug in the first place? If they do but refused to fix it and just release the board that's lame. If they don't then the QC or whatever final checking/testing is real bad for this board coz they don't even realized this problem
Now I saw the link for another problem of mine again
    Problem description:
Starting-up the system gives you a hard lockup (freeze) with or without blank screen.
Some times, at boot time, the system says it is overclocked, but you know there is no overclock.
You must clear CMOS for be able to boot at every system startup.
I have this problem too and I'm going to read it but I don't need to clear bios, I just need to hit the power button again and the machine will boot to bios but this is quite irratating haha now I'm going to read to see how can I fix this problem.
Once again don't get the wrong idea, I'm not here to flame MSI coz I like their products too just that a quick browse of the link above made me realized this board has so many problems haha
Anyway thanks again for your time guys take care

  • Ram question for K8N Neo2 Platinum

Hi all. I have the above mentioned motherboard in my system, with 2 x 512mb of DDR400 ram installed. I want to upgrade to 2gb at some stage in the near future, and was wondering if I can throw another two sticks of 512 in, or will I have to get 2 x 1gb sticks?
    Cheers.

4x512MB stick works, however not guaranteed to run att full speed DDR400 ( depending on what CPU model / RAM controller - winchester/Venice/Opteron etc.). In general the later cpu models handles 4 sticks better then the older.
If not the CPU onboard RAM controller is up for the task, the RAM will run at 333mhz speed and give some worse performance compared to DR400 1T setting, however you will still enjoy the 2GB performance compared to 1GB 1T setting, when using application that use that much RAM.
Best would be 2x1024 sticks, to be sure about getting DDR400 speed 1T setting, but it could be worth trying adding another two 512MB of same model, because of the lower cost and set DDR400 ( 200mhz) manual in bios and increase RAM+CPU voltage some.
( Syar´s Easybios 1C3 is a good and stable biosversion that sets RAM voltage to 2.75v and some other RAM settings as good levels as default.)
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=59711.0
Some time ago, I did run 4x512 stick at DDR400 2T speed with a Winchester and Venice cpu, but suffered from less OC potential, compared with 2 sticks.
With my new opteron cpu, I can have a good OC with same 4 sticks of RAM, so for me it´s clearly a big differance between the "desktop" and "server" cpu models, and how they handle RAM.

  • NOOB -MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum questions

    Hi
I coming from an Intel background but am now considering changing to AMD; i'd like to keep my agp x800xt pe card and get a MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum board but have got a few questions /concerns.
I have looked on several forums including MSI's own forum and noticed people having problems with corsair value select memory modules.
My questions which i'd be grateful for answers to are:
    1. Am gamer and planning to also purchase a 4000+ to put in it - will the board recognise it straight away or will I need to update BIOS..
    2. Want to transfer my current 4x512mb 3200 Corsair Value Select sticks to my new board - will there be any compatibility problems? (cannot afford to buy new memory)
    3. Will I be able to run the memory 200 + ? as heard the boards base clock for a 4000+ is 166
    4. If I can run these at 200 can i do this straight away or will i need to overclock them slowly to get to 200 (will the board see them as 3200 and start at 200?)
    5. Anything else I should know/look out for?
Many thanks to all. My first post here so hello to everyone.

    Hello !!
Let´s try to answer your questions...
    1. It depends on which Bios Version is installed out of the Box, i suggest version 1.8, if you are not using a Venice / Dual-Core or later CPU Core. The advantages of biosses later than version 1.8 are the new Steppings Support and some new Memory Timing Options available in Bios Setup.
    2. I do not know exactly, i think most corsair sticks are running well on this Board if you are not going to overclock. But it depends on which Chips are used your Corsair Modules. What could be a problem is that you are going to use 4 Ram Sticks, because with Winchester Cores you would not be able to run 4 Sticks in PC3200Dual Channel Mode (DDR333), even if your Ram would be 100% compatible with your MOBO. Venice and later Cores are able to handle 4 sticks at 400Mhz DDR clock. Except you own 4 single sided Ram Modules.
    3. Should be possible if your memory likes it.....
    4. No, the Bios will recognize your SPD Timings. So you will have to overclock them from a 166Mhz Memory Divider Base.
    5. Take a look here:

  • Few question above the k8n neo2 platinum and raid

    hi
i have for now intel 3.4ghz and asus p4c800dlux and 4 sata drives :
2x36giga wd 10000 raptors in raid 0 (connected to the on board promise sata controller)
2x200giga wd 7200 jd sata that (connected to on bard sata ports)
i order a athlon fx-55 and k8n neo2 platinum for a oc (a have 2x512 corsiar pc4000pro and hydro cool 200 ) and its look that its going to be problem
"SATA ports 1+2 will not maintain a lock and you can and will corrupt hard drives placed on these channels if you raise the HTT above 220mhz."
    http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=ge...890&articID=228
so im in a problem, if i wont to do nice oc (and i will) i need to leave sata ports 1 and 2 not connected and buy a sata-pci controller for my 2x200giga , im right ?
in that case i need to connect the raptors in raid 0 in the sata 3-4 prots (near the agp) but:
the raid on the noe2 is "NV RAID (Software)" it means that there is no a controller like promise and the cpu need to replace the controller work, so its doing a lower performance.

If you had 4 huge drives I would be more sympathetic. To me every board is a compromise, resulting in me having to abandon something I might have done previoulsy. In you case ditch the two 36gb drives, and slum it with the 200gb drives. Remember that "overclocking" is not a right. There will be many users oblivious of the SATA 1/2 overclocking problems running 4 sata drives in RAID without a problem.

  • Help K8N Neo2 Platinum

hi Having Real Problems The With K8N Neo2 Platinum Board
When Starting Up The PC All I Get Is One LOud Beep That Lasts About
2 Seconds And Then Stops For 2 Seconds Then Does It Again And So On
But Never Gets To Post ,I Thought It Might Be Some Card Not Seated Right
But After Checking All Cards And Memory The Same Thing Happens Ive Now Took
All The Components Out And Rebuilt My Old 2600xp Socket a And All The Components Are Working Fine , So My Problem is HAve I Got A Doa Motherboard
Or Is It The Athlon64 3200+ ,Oh And The memory That I Been Using Is Branded
Samsung Pc3200 512mb And Ive Also Tried Samsung Branded Pc2700 2x256mb
But Since This Memory Works Fine In My old 2600xp System It Cant Be That Could it >?

One Of The problems That I Have Is I Didnt Get the D Card With The Motherboard
As i Bought A OEM Product ,Ive Only Just read About The Memory Config On MSI Site Which Clearly States That You Should Always Start To Populate The Green
First But I`m Sure This Has Only Just Been Added To The Site Check It Here
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=607
And yes The memory Can Work In Dual Channel Mode But Only With The Samsung PC2700 At 256mb A peice
My Thinking Behind The Graphics CArd Change ie (Swapping The Radeon 9800 Pro
For A Old Radeon 9600 Pro ) Is To See If It May be The Power Supply As The The 9800 Pro Shares The Same 12v line As The Athlon64 CPu But Can`t See It Being The Power Supply As its Only 3 Weeks Old And Is A enermax 470w With Dual 12v
    RAils
But Still My Biggest Question Is Could This be A Faulty athlon64 3200xp Skt 939 CPU >?

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum Ordered - Advice for a noob please

    Hi there,
this seems like a great forum, was hoping someone could give me some advice - Im trying to pre-empt any major probs....
I am a relative noob to building P.C's - done a few P4 based systems before but this will be my first Athlon based.  This systems primary use will be gaming.  I have the following on order (should be with me next week) : -
    a) MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum Edition SCK 939 Motherboad
    b) AMD ATHLON 64 3500+ 64bit SCK 939 Retail Inc Fan
    c) 160GB Maxtor Calypso 8mb Cache 7200 SATA DHH
    Components I have already
    a) Graphics Card - Nvidia 6800 GT
    b) Memory - Generic 2 X 512MB PC2700 DDR333 RAM
    c) Sound Card - Creative SB Live Value
    d) PSU - Jeantech 450W (22a on 12V Rail)
    e) Case - pretty generic full tower case - no fans attached
    f) CPU FAN - COOLERMASTER HYPER 48 SUPER SILENT HEATPIPE
    g) Spare Hard drive - 120GB Maxtor IDE Hard drive
    h) DVD Drives - 1 x Pioneeer 108 / 1 x Pioneer 104
    I) Monitors - Ilyama 17" TFT & Toshiba 32WL36P LCD
I have some 'noobish' questions - apologies for my ignorance : -
    1) Memory - Will my memory be okay ?  Should I ditch it and buy some Corsair DDR400 (which everyone else seems to have!).  Will performance suffer if I stick with the DDR 333 ? Do I need to adjust settings in BIOS regarding memory timing ? (I only picked up on this from reading through other posts on this board, and am totally clueless on 'timing'- Ive never needed to adjust timing on any previous PC's....!)
    2) Sound Card - will I be better off sticking with the onboard sound on the MSI K8N neo 2 ? Or for best performance do I go with the SB LIve ? (god its a nightmare trying to get updated drivers for this card),  Would I get a noticable performance increase buying an Audigy 2?
    3) Vcore / other power issues - Reading this forum Im kinda scared by many posts along the lines of "..for stability I need to change my memory voltage to xx-V" or "...for a stable system I needed to change my Vcore to xx-V".  Will I need to change the Bios default values on this system just to get it to run stably??
    4) CPU FAN - Are AMD stock fans any good ?  My Hyper 48 is quite highly rated....
    5) Im completely new to SATA drives, but Ive printed off the very useful install guide on this site (which I intend to use).  Is there anything I need to look out for concerning adding my IDE drive also.
I think thats about it just now - if anyone can see any other potential problems with my specs then please let me know.  Im really not trying to be negative / pessimistic - after all the reason I have went for this motherboard is that it is rated as one of the best.  Im just a bit paranoid that the dreaded B.S.O.D awaits me!
On a more positive note - does anyone have similar system specs they use for gaming ?  How well does HL2 / Doom3 / Farcry etc fly J ? I cant wait !
    Thanks for the time

  • SATA HDD installation on K8N Neo2 Platinum, Non-RAID, Non-Bootable

    Hi-
I’m a rank newbie on this forum (first post). I have a K8N Neo2 Platinum Mobo, which I’ve recently gotten up and running, with Windows XP-Pro SP2 installed on a single IDE drive. I would now like to add 2 SATA drives. I don’t need or want the SATA drives to operate in a RAID array, nor do I want them to be bootable. I want to use them independently for data storage. I read the following thread (I am posting here on a separate thread per the author’s wishes not to get his original thread too junked-up) :
Single SATA or Multiple Drive Array Setup FAQ
I have not yet plugged-in either of my SATA drives, because I don’t want to risk corrupting my existing boot (IDE) drive. I just had a few questions about the procedure given in the referenced thread, in the Single Drive Setup:
    - Step 14 States: “Make sure the “RAID Mode” is Stripping and Striping Block at 64k or Optimal. Hit F7 (Finish)”. Is this correct for a single non-boot drive?
    - Step 22 States: “As most of you know when you enter the Setup for Win2k/WinXP you will need to hit F6 to load additional drivers for other SCSI devices.” I assume this means I need to boot from the Windows CD. Is this true even if I already have Windows installed on an IDE HDD on this system? At what point will I need to hit <F6> ? Will I be prompted to do so?
    - I have downloaded (from the MSI website) the NVIDIA RAID CLASS DRIVER & NVIDIA Nforce Storage Controller (20 files, 1.3 MB total). Should I put these on a floppy? Or can I access them from a directory on my OS HDD?
    - Should I go ahead and plug-in both of the 2 SATA drives I want to add to the system before beginning the driver installation? The only reason I would consider installing them one at a time is if it eliminated any confusion between RAID vs. independent (I want independent operation). If I do install them one at a time, do I have to install the driver twice?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    - the bbdude

    OK Thanks JeanGuy and ssjkakaroto,
I have connected both of my SATA drives. They are enabled in BIOS but not set to RAID. I booted up to Windows on my IDE drive. In Disk Manager, the display shows Disk 0 (C: System), Disk 1 and Disk 2 as uninitialized, and my DVD (D:) drive. At this point, I could probably go ahead and run the Initialize and Convert Disk Wizard to get these disks formatted and be dome with ot now. Before I do that though, I just have a couple of more questions.
    - I had already loaded the nVidia nForce3 system driver prior to installing the SATA drives, but I went ahead and did that again after installing the SATA drives and restarting Windows. I used Live Update, which went out to the MSI site and found version 5.03 of the  nVidia nForce3 system driver. I'm not sure how to find the "Nvidia 5.10 driver package which include the latest SATA driver", ssjkakaroto referred-to. The Live Update install procedure did ask if I wanted to install IDE driver and I said yes. It then asked to over-write what I already had there (I said yes to that too). As the file names streamed-by, I though I saw some filenames with nv... listed. So, bottom line, is I'm not sure if I have the lates and greatest nVidia SATA drivers installed. How can I find out what drivers are installed?
    - As I mentioned in my previous post, I have also downloaded and unzipped the NVIDIA RAID CLASS DRIVER & NVIDIA Nforce Storage Controller (20 files, 1.3 MB total) from the MSI site; however, I don't know how to "install" this now that I have the files. There are a couple of .exe and a .bat file (bit no setup.exe).
I may already have everything I need to partition and format these drives. I just want to bve sure I'm not skipping a step that is essential to optimal performance.
    Thanks -

Nothing has ever been overclocked on this system.
Everything is plugged into a Belkin Surgemaster powerbar.
I haven't mentioned the power supply. I'll get to that. I have been using an ANTEC NEOPOWER 480W POWER SUPPLY (ATX12V  DUAL 12V RAILS ACTIVE PFC W/ DETACHABLE OUTPUT CABLES) for about a year on this system without
any issues. One morning, I wake up, hit the power button on my coolermaster case, and nothing happens.
CPU fan won't even spin. Nothing happens.
    O.k., blown power supply, I think . . . .
So I take out my Antec and put it in another system. That system turns on
    without any problems.
    Hmm . . .
I come here, and I read posts about
potential compatibility issues with Antec power supplies. But if it's a compatibility
issue why was my system working for about a year?
    O.k., fine. I'll buy a Enermax 535W EG565P-VE FMA 24P (115/230 VAC) power supply.
I just plug it into the mainboard (nothing else). Hit the power button . . .
The CPU fan spins for half a second, and then nothing.
Did my motherboard just suddenly die for no reason?
    Any suggestions?

Pull the AC plug from PSU and set cmos in clear position with battery removed for atlest 20 minutes perhaps longer .
Then try to post the system barebone .
Just cpu,1 pcs memory in slot 1 , gfx card , and keyboard in PS2.
No usb devices at all including card reader and no pci cards harddisks or cdoms/dvd/floppy.
It could also be caused by a short or a malfunctioning fan connected to mobo.
Try to disconnect all case fans from mobo headers if you have any connected to additional fan holders.
The chipset fan can also be disconnected momentarily just to see if it posts.
If none of this helps , replace cmos battery and try again .

the overclocking is done solely in bios.
Anyway, there seems to be different problems relating to waking up from sleep, I know that Cool'n'Quiet would stop working when I would wake up from sleep. I'll try overclocking mine a bit and I'll get back to you.
Also, check that the Save/Clear CMOS jumper is in the right position.

  • K8N-Neo2 Platinum pauses for 25 sec at boot, nvatabus.sys the problem?

    All,
After POSTing normally and starting to load Windows XP, my system halts at the Windows XP splash screen for about 25 seconds. Nothing happens, no disk activity or anything, the system just sits there.
I used Microsoft's Bootvis utility to see what was happening. It turns out that the nvatabus.sys driver consumes 100% CPU at boot for 25 seconds then the system continues to boot normally. Does anyone else see anything like this?
I am running the latest nForce drivers from MSI. The driver in question:
NVIDIA nForce3 Serial ATA Controller 2.6
    Driver Date 6/3/2004
    c:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\nvatabus.sys 5.10.2600.0446
    Windows XP SP1
I have a RAID1 of two 160 GB SATA drives. The mirror is healthy and working fine.
After booting the system is rock-solid stable, no problems there. It's just this unexplained pause at boot. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

ok check it out guy's this thing drove me insane all night last night and most of today. I was ready to return everything and give up. But alas all is not lost. Here is the rundown on what i just did.
    My Equipment:
    Athlon 64 3800+(w/ stock fan)
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Socket 939
    2X512 Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPRO ( with the cool led's )
    2 SATA HD (1 Maxtor Diamond10 300 GB w/ 16mb cache, 1 Segate 160GB w/8mb cache)
    PP&C 425 ATX Deluxe
    Radeon 9700 Pro ( cat 4.8 )
    Audigy2 ZS
    Sony Floppy
    Sony 8x52x52x32 DVD Rewrite
I have been reading and reading just like all you guy's. On a few websites i would pick up bits and pieces on what to try. Heres what i did. Upon Boot up i entered the bios. I then went to Cell Soft and adjusted my timings for my memory. I was at 2.5 not 2.75. I then set my speed down to 166. Exited and restarted. Big mistake everything ri=uns terrible slow and my expensive DDR 400 memory was showing up correctly at 333. Rebooted again entered the bios. reset my speed to 400. Then set the Overclock feature to manual. Set my timings at 2,2,5,2 200 and 2.75 volts. After saving settings and exiting I then turned off the computer. As per some other suggestions I moved my Audigy2 to the bottom most pci slot the one above the orange slot. I moved my memory to slots 2 and 4. I moved my SATA to slots 3 and 4. I rebooted went into the bios again and setup all my voltages. CPU was Auto, AGP was max yellow setting. Memory still at 2.75. I disabled the onboard serial and parrallel ports. Rebooted
    Fearing the worst,
5 seconds, 10 seconds, windows screen loging prompt. There was nothing wrong at all. It rebooted effortlessly. It re found my Audigy card and wanted driver but that was it. I am going to reboot a few more times and then run sisandra to test. I hope some of this will help you. I post in a few after some of those reboots.

  • K8N NEO2 PLATINUM ATA-133 Raid ?

    Hello,
My question is, is it possible to setup an Ata-133 raid on the K8N NEO2 PLATINUM (as the main boot drive). Currently I have 2 ata-133 drives and I want to upgrade to this board. I looked at the PDF manual and read the forums, but people usally talk about thier Sata drives.
If it is possible to have only a Ata-133 raid setup. How/what is the best way to set it up since there is only a primary and secondary ATA connection on the motherboard.  Setup a master / slave on the primary 1 slot ? or put them on thier own channel ?  Note, I read somewhere that optical drives ( cdroms,...) may have a problem if they share the channel with a harddrive that is raided. So thats my dilema.
      Thanks in advanced,
                Jim

    jim,
did you ever get the RAID setup to work with the IDE drives?
i was trying to connect 2 ata100 drives on the IDE2 or IDE3 ports and the bios will not seem to detect them at all,
but the RAID controller DOES detect them.
however, it will try to boot from the master drive but restarts at the windows XP splash screen, every time.

Right. If we connect two IDE HDDs on one IDE1 or IDE 2 (as Master & Slave), and plan to set up RAID.Take IDE1 for example, as long as we set up Integrated Peripherals-->Onboard Device-->RAID Config-->IDE Primary Master&Secondary RAID-->Enabled, Save&exit setup; enter RAID bios to set RAID mode, all things would be ok. But if we want to install OS in this RAID, we must press F6 install RAID driver at the beginning of OS installation. If we only use them as normal storage, OS is in other HDD, we should install RAID driver in OS.
Besides, the two HDDs could not appear in Standard CMOS Features any more, which appear in RAID BIOS.
