Question about LabVIEW toolkit versions

Hi,
In our systems we have LabVIEW 2012 sp1+ older versions of toolkits such as NI DAQmx (9.7) or NI Flex RIO (13.0 )
I have bought a new system that has all the up to dated toolkit vesrions. For example NI DAQmx (9.9) or NI Flex RIO (13.2). I will install LabVIEW 2012 on this system but I would like to know if I open my VIs in teh system with up to dated drivers then can I open them again in my old systems ( they both use 2012 but driver versions are different) ?
Could you please let me know if I need to re install the old drivers on my new system?
Thanks

They should install side-by-side without any issues.

  • A question about LabVIEW's instinct.

    Hello guys:
    I have a question about LabVIEW's nature.
Is LabVIEW a language that can realize the operation system(OS) ?
I feel LabVIEW can express my idea intuitively in my mind.
So LabVIEW can help me develop some program rapidly.
I think LabVIEW can do it.
    How about your opinion?

Do you mean can LabView read your mind?
Not by itself, external hardware is required.

  • Questions about LabVIEW

    Dear support team,
Could someone please respond to Eric's questions? Eric works at Bonneville Power Administration and they are gearing up for another major LabVIEW and DSC project. He may have LabVIEW 7 beta. I am on my way out of town for two weeks and won't have access to phone or email. Thanks!!

Subject: The list of question i never sent
Sorry for the long delay, things have been very busy here with this new project. I have questions / concerns about the DSC, OPC and LOGOS; first here is our architecture.
We will have two servers running windows 2000 server. Both servers will be live and need to have all DSC components installed. One server is to act as the primary server and the second is to act as a failover server. We have custom components that manage all of our custom services, if one of the custom services stops responding the failover service will shut down all custom services on the primary server and start all of the custom services on the secondary server, thus, the secondary server becomes our primary live server.
My understanding is that we will have to load a *.spf file on each HMI that tells the HMI where the server is, at the same time we need to initialize the DSC and OPC with *spf and *.lpd files. Now I might have the file extensions wrong but the idea is the same. We have all of our data in a SQL 2000 database, how do we make sure that all of the configuration files match the SQL 2000 db? We have several GUI's that can edit the SQL 2000 data, how do we update the DSC / OPC configuration files?
So in short here are my current questions:
How can we manage failover with two live servers
How can we ensure that DSC / OPC / Logos configuration files match the data in SQL 2000?
Does any of this make sense? This labview stuff is very new to me.

    Hi Eric,
You got it right that once the primary machine goes down, the standby machine detects this, and then loads the appropriate SCF file, etc. Caveat: This would mean however that the hardware in question is accessible by both the machines (it's on an Ethernet, for instance). Any hardware physically connected to the primary machine will obviously be not accessible by the secondary (unless there's a way to have a "Y" connection).
The logging part you mention is not very clear to me. Several questions come to mind: Isn't DSC the logger, logging to its Citadel database? Or, is SQL 2000 the main database? And DSC is logging to SQL 2000? If yes, how? Or is the SQL 2000 querying Citadel and hence getting the data into itself?

  • Two Question about GP on version CE 7.11

    Hi ,experts:
Question 1:In our old system's workflow, a position named "secretary-
general of Loan Committee" can distribute the task to the specific
committee reviewers. After do that he also can change the reviewer, who
got the task but hasn't any progress;to not do the task or add other
reviewers to get the task. So we should do that with GP like this:
there are three actions, action A action B and action C. The action A
can assign several users to the action B and the action C, also the
action A can change the users that have been assigned to the action B
    or the action C.
Question 2:Familiar with the question 1, after one position finish the
task and submit,he can call back it if the next position haven't do
anything yet , and then he can rehandle the task and submit it again.
So we should do that with GP like this: there are two actions , action
A and action B, the action B is the next position of the action A, the
user of the action A finished a task and submit it and he can call back
or rehandle the task until the user of the action B accept his task.
Are these 2 points above possiable in GP version 7.11? And it will be
very kind of you to give us an example if GP can do this. further more,
is there any doc of GP about it?
    Thank you very much!
    Best Regards!

  • Question about labview block diagram

    Hi all,
I'm working on labview with fieldpoint modules. Why can't I connect the FieldPoint IO Point Constant directly to the FP Read (Polymorphic)? It says "I connected 2 terminals of different types". But somehow I found some manuals on NI which said these 2 items could actually be connected. I use Labview 7.1.
    Regards,
    Nicky
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That Fieldpoint Icon looks different from the one I'm used to seeing.  Unfortunately, my PC that has 7.1 on it isn't running anymore, so I can't check that far back.
The error tells you something about what it is looking for (cluster of 2 elements).  Turn on context help for the Fieldpoint function.  Delete the broken wire and right click on the connector input and select Create Constant.  With either of those, you should be able to find out some information as to what is required in that "cluster of 2 elements".
Here is what mine looks like.  I am curious to know where you got your Fieldpoint function from.  Is it from an older version of LabVIEW than 7.1?
What version of Windows are you using?  The font that is showing up on your block diagram looks oddly blocky.

  • Can I turn off auto tab loading, if no, question about uninstalling newest version of firefox

I tend to wind up with far too many tabs open at one time to not bog firefox down. I came up with a very useful workaround - close and re-open firefox with it disconnected from the internet.
Thru version 3.6.19 this works beautifully, because when it can't find the internet, it loads all of the tabs as "problem loading page." They load quickly but don't use much memory and don't bog Firefox down that way. Then I connect to internet, and work the the tabs at my leisure. That way I have many tabs of pages I'm interested in ready for me, but only a few actually open and using memory etc.
When I upgraded to the newest Firefox version, I had a lot of tabs already open but I discovered my workaround trick no longer works. As soon as I reconnect the internet, all the 'problem loading' tabs automatically start loading the full/real pages.
QUESTION 1: Is there a way I can turn this function off, at least for awhile until I can work thru the set of tabs I already had loaded when I upgraded?
QUESTION 2: Is there a way I can easily/quickly break a single window with a bunch of tabs into multiple windows? I mean WITHOUT having to handle each tab one by one...
QUESTION 3: Is there some way to get a window listing all tabs and windows where I can delete selected tabs, while I have that window open? The dropdown on the righthand side of the page doesn't work for this, because it shows them all as 'problem loading page' rather than showing the url (or maybe there is a way to change the display in the dropdown menu?)
Since I discovered this problem, I re-installed Firefox 3.6.19 (leaving the new Firefox version on the computer too). I did NOT make a new profile because I wanted it to see the session manager set of tabs I had already, my preferences & passwords, etc.... I am running 3.6.19, but I suspect it is having some problems because of both versions being on the computer with the single profile however, as its crashing more often and using more memory & CPU... I also tried to save the window in session manager (which I had before I loaded the new firefox), but got an error message.
QUESTION 4: Is this likely the problem, e.g., two firefox versions but no new profile? IF so, is there a way to duplicate the profile so each firefox version has it's own, but both are identical?
QUESTION 5: If uninstall the new Firefox, will the 3.6.19 version still run properly, with my profile, settings, session manager saved sessions, etc. all still intact?
Thanks in advance for your help, I really need it!!

  • Last ditch question about The older version of iTunes cannot be removed...

I've spent two weeks trying to upgrade iTunes. The error is always the same: "The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." I went through every step in the detailed documents on the Apple Web site except one: I don't have a clue what to turn off with MSConfig. I have also used the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and have manually deleted all references to Apple, iTunes, and iPod in the Registry. All these things have been done not once or twice but at least half a dozen times.
I also spoke with Apple. They walked me through the same processes that I had already tried many times, then said that this particular error means there is a problem with the Windows Registry.
    My questions are:
    1. In general, does anyone have a clue how to solve this problem other than the steps I have tried repeatedly?
    2. Does anyone have a complete list of the items iTunes adds to the Registry? Perhaps there is an item that does not include the words Apple, iTunes or iPod.
    3. Can anyone suggest likely culprits that I should turn off in MSConfig?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

    3. Can anyone suggest likely culprits that I should turn off in MSConfig?
the first thing to try with MSCONFIG is turning off everything except for essential Microsft services and the itunes/quicktime background processes. the following document contains a good set of detailed instructions on that:

  • A question about Auto Save, Versions and Preview.

I haven't upgraded to Lion (yet?). I'm trying to understand what impact Lion will have on my workflow.
Do I understand right that it is not possible to turn off Lion's Auto Save?
And that the autosavings are stored in a hidden sqlLite data base?
I use Preview for... err... previewing files (PDFs and image files). Nothing I open (preview) in Preview I save.
Is Lion's Auto Save going to save every file I take a look at in Preview?

    Thebestplacehere wrote:
I think is more a pro than a con to upgrade ..
The idea of Versions looks good to me, it certainly is not a 'con to upgrade'. The amount of disk space it uses and where (on which disk) is a bit of a concern to me. But by the time the applications I work with implement this feature that probably will be sorted out.
    there's more to upgrading though.
    Not so much on topic:
I do want to upgrade. Eventually. Although I do worry about the direction Apple are heading in, I don't want to get stuck in the past.
I'm disappointed AirDrop is not for my computers. And the treatment Spaces and Exposé got really withholds me of upgrading any time soon. Maybe a third party developer dives into this matter. Working with an external display connected to notebooks has changed in Lion and is not particularly handy for everyone. (While using the external display only, opening the lid of the notebook in Lion turns on the display of the notebook. This was not the case before Lion.)

  • Question about LabView 8.0

Installers created from VIs are now compatible with Windows 98, like LabView 6.1?
If not, future version of LabView will be able to create Win98 installers?
With LabView 8.0 can I create smaller installer files?
    Thank you in advance.

LV support for windows 98 stopped with version 7.1, so no future version of LabVIEW will support 98, which was replaced over 4 years ago.
The LV run-time engine (which is included with the installer you create) has been getting bigger with every release. When you create the installer, you can choose to remove some of the optional features, which will make the installer size smaller, but not by a great deal. What you can do is instruct users to download the RTE from NI's website and send them only the executable, which will be much smaller than the full installer.

  • Question about WAD print version configuration

    Hi gurus,
We are having a problem with the WAD print version. We have created two WAD templates, one of them is for be viewed at the portal and the other one for the export to PDF.
Our template has several tables(data providers) in a horizontal line. The template for the export is exactly like this original template, but despite this, when we press the "print version" button in the portal, the PDF appears desconfigure and shows the data providers one under the other, in a vertical line.
We have tried to change the size of the data providers but we are not getting the expected result.
Could anyone give me some idea of how to proceed correctly for this situation?
    Thank you in advanced.
    Manuel.

Ok Mike, thank you very much! I was already guessing it would really not work in Firefox, and we would have to look for alternative solutions.
We followed your advice and we are now trying to use a Firefox plugin named IE Tab, and it looks like its going to solve our problem.
Thanks a lot for your attention.

First remove iTunes and associated programs using this method:

  • Question about LabVIEW generated DLL's

    Hello,
I want to try programming games in either JAVA or FLASH.
What I want to know is if I can use the LabVIEW generated DDL's for use in my games, without having to need the LabVIEW runtimes installed.
(in other words, are the LabVIEW generated DLL's, stand alone DLL's as generated in for example C/C++ or other programming languages?)
Second, how good is LabVIEW in converting it's code into a DLL. Can I make complicated algorithms, or are just simple functions allowed.
Hope you guys can spare a few words on this topic.

Hello dan_u and thank you for your quick reply.
If the LabVIEW Runtimes are needed to use the DLL's, that is not a good option for me then. I eventually want to distribute my games over the internet, and having to sent the LabVIEW runtimes with the games is just not an option.
To bad, I'm better in programming stuff in LabVIEW then in writen C++ like code.
