Question about MiniBridge in CS5

Hi!!
I've a problem with mini bridge inside PS. When I click on it I see "wait for bridge" but nothing appear...
Why?

Hi,
This thread has a few other solutions to look at.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/628677?tstart=0.
1. Make sure your antivirus software is not blocking Ps.
2. Next, look into the hosts file solution: (post #29, #31)
'My hosts file on Vista was named  "hosts" (no extension)  located at:
   C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.
Look up  "hosts file" in Wikipedia and it tells you the location on other  operating systems.
Edit it with notepad.  I modified my hosts file by putting  a "#" at the beginning of the line with my hosts file information,  which disables it - everything after a # on a line is considered a  comment and ignored. my hosts file had only this line:
::1              localhost
I  put the # sign in front of it to disable it.
3. Next you can try post 16:
i got it work too (XP):
1. i created  a new user (TempUser), logged in to it, launched photoshop - and made  sure everything (minibridge i.e.) works
2. then i logged back into  my account and replaced my C:\Documents and  Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\SwitchBoard folder  with the one from C:\Documents and Settings\TempUser\Application  Data\Adobe\SwitchBoard
(seems like somehow the SwitchBoard folder got corrupted...)
4. Last, try post #14, 15:
I changed file security permissions for "Users" on the bridge.exe file  located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5 to 'full control' instead of  'read&execute' and 'read' only. Then restart Bridge.
We're putting together a tech support document to cover these trouble shooting options for future reference.
regards,
steve

  • Question about starting PhotoShop CS5

I have Photoshop CS5 in Windows 7. Sometimes when I start up the program it hangs up on "Reading Preferences" for many minutes, and sometimes it stays hung up there for too long and I have to reboot my system sometimes 2-3 times before the program begins to start up again. One time it was so persistent I had to uninstall and reinstall the program so it would start properly.  Any thoughts on how to fix this? It's a real time killer.

I almost feel that Adobe should hand out "gold stars," or similar, to everyone who CAN hit the keys quickly enough...
Good luck, and glad that it's working for you.

PS - from time to time, I will make a Copy of my Prefs file, just in case. Though I have only had to reset them, over 20 years and many versions of PS, having a "known good" Prefs file handy can be, well handy.

Hi I have a question about shooting in Raw with my Canon EOS 6d.
I'm in the process of learning photography and my goal was to start shooting in raw.
I have Photoshop CS5. When I tried to edit my images in raw I received an error message stating, "The photoshop camera raw plug-in did not recognize the format. If these files are from a camera, you may need to update your camera raw plug in."
In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6. My version of CS5 is 6.0.0.205. Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost. THANKS in advance!
    Heather

In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6.
That is correct. Your camera was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3. Camera Raw 7.3 will not work with CS5. You need CS6 or CC.
Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost.
It all depends on your preferred workflow and your budget.
Using the DNG converter is free. There is no monthly fee. You use the converter to convert all Raw files from the EOS 6D to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5. That's an extra step every time - every photo. Some people don't like the extra step. Others don't mind.
Camera raw, DNG | Adobe Photoshop CC
Or you can upgrade to CS6 (non-Cloud) and pay the upgrade fee
    Creative Suite 6
Or join the Cloud and pay the monthly fee
Or join the Photoshop Photography Program (US9.99/month) and get PS CC+LR

  • 2 question about GPU and Lens correction ,cs5

    Hi
i have 2 questions about Gpu and lens correction in Cs5
    1)Filter->lens correction->search online
i get often and almost every connection time out at the first click on search online , at the second click i get no online profile
    is it normal?
    2) question is about Gpu
it run faster , but talking about ajustament layer
like saturation or vibrance for example
i found with the gpu on , a light slow refresh compared with gpu off
i have set cache  levels 6 ,history 20
    i guess are the defaul
well i add a saturation layer and move the saturation slide ,increase o decrease saturation
with Gpu Off , the changes are immedially , i mean i can see in real time the increase o decrease of saturation
with Gpu On it takes a few(very few) time more
    again is normal ?
don't be angry , i'm going to buy cs5 and i'm unsecure ... the price make a big role
    thanks

For what it's worth, I also see a timeout on the first [ Search Online ] click, after about half a minute delay.  Second click turns up results immediately.  This happens each time Lens Correction is started, even without restarting Photoshop, and in both 32 and 64 bit versions.  Also note that I started with one profile listed by default (though from the wrong camera) for my 40D with 28-135 zoom.
I alsow noticed that I was seeing progress bar activity in the Lens Correction dialog while I was typing this (even though Lens Correction was NOT the active window) every time I hit the 'L' key.  Strange.
    Windows 7 x64.

  • Questions about PDF exporting with InDe CS5.5

    Hey all,
A couple questions about exporting to PDF from the latest version of InDe.
First, I have noticed that it seems to take a lot longer to get to a PDF. Any suggestions for how to speed up the process? It took 8 minutes or so to generate a low-res PDF (for print) of a 24pp document with a few placed images and vector graphics. Wow, that's a long time to wait, especially for a proof.
Second, the background task... if I get it going on making that 8-minute PDF and then work some more on the document, what exactly is in the PDF? Usually I save before making a PDF or printing. So, is the last version saved what will be in the PDF?
(As an aside, this ability to work on the doc while generating a PDF seems kind of weird. Generally one makes a PDF for proofing, or even for printing, when all the changes have been made and everything is "final". So, I see no benefit to being able to work on my document while it's making a PDF, as I'm probably finished making revisions for the time being. I have to say that I kind of like the progress bar you get when you make an interactive PDF, as you know you can't work on the document when that's on the screen... )
    Thanks as always.

Yes, this is abnormally long (and too long), something is wrong. What's the full version of InDesign you are running, as reported by holding down Cmd or Control and selecting About InDesign?

Saving is not related. InDesign makes a database snapshot of your document the moment you begin the PDF export, and makes the export relative to that snapshot, regardless of edits you continue to make during the export process, and regardless of saving. Of course saving first is a good idea, for several reasons, not the least of which it sounds like something's fairly seriously wrong with your document or your InDesign installation.
We recommend you trash your preferences and export your document to IDML and see if either of those things changes this 8-minute behavior...err, assuming you're running 7.5.2.318.

Yeah, I think the primary benefit is if you are likely to work on 2 or more files in parallel, so you can finish A and export A and then switch to B. If you'd like a dialog box to pop up when export is done, check out my exportPop script from this post: ANN: automatic dialog after background export (exportPop.jsx.

  • A question about upgrades and mroe upgrades

I've got a question about the upgrade sequence and costs thereof
I have CS5.5 Production Premium. Suppose I upgrade to CS6 production Premium. If, when CS6.5 comes out and I decided to upgrade, would it be considered an upgrade from 5.5 or 6 for pricing purposes?
I presume the older the software the more expensive the upgrade but if I'm upgrading from my CS6 upgrade would it be considered an upgrade from CS5.5 9the original suite) or an upgrade from CS6?
    Thank you

You have a CS5.5 now. Now, you upgrade to CS6.
When CS6.5 come out. It will be considered as an upgrade from CS6 (and not CS5.5 which is your original suite). Hope this is clear

  • Few questions about cs6

is there a way to let the ruler and straighten like cs5 ? i gave a look to my friend cs6 and cs6 ruler and straighten leave transparent image around the corner

The feature is there, where Christoph described it, though I would have liked it if they'd left an option for the Ruler Tool button to allow people to add "and crop" as well.  But Adobe have confirmed they moved it out of there on purpose, presumably because new users would expect to crop their image using the Crop Tool, not the Ruler Tool.
    mantralightroom wrote:

You MUST be talking about the Properties panel, where adjustment layer info is shown, because the dialogs you get when you do things like Image - Adjust - Levels or Image - Adjust - Curves is not resizeable in any way I can see.  At least not on a PC.
No, there's no special option that allows dialog sizes to be saved separately.  It's just one panel, and the size of the panel itself defines the size of the contents up to each of their max sizes.

  • Question about background colors

    Greetings folks,
I have a question about background colors using a DW template in CS4.The page in question is here: http://www.webrevamps.com/dw/assignment11.html
On the left nav, I want the background color to extend throughout the entire sidebar. Not just where the text is. What am I doing wrong?
And actually the same question applies to the main content area.
Secondly, behind the graphic where the header is.... in DW it shows as a black background covering the entire header area, but that is not the way it looks when posted online. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Nothing.  THis question is asked and answered several times a day.  Google "faux columns" to see a slick way to make it look like you have fixed this.

No idea.  It looks exactly the same to me in CS5, nor do I see any reason why it wouldn't look the same in CS4.

  • Question about Student version and CS6

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question...
So I have a question about Student&Teacher versions in CS6 - Will there be Student & Teacher version for CS6 too?
P.S Sorry if there are some grammar mistakes.
    Hope You understand!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply Bob,
I was actually referring to this exact page ( CS5.5 Production Premium, Student) http://adobe.ly/H6so7G (non-flash version because links were redirecting) where it doesnt list the offer on the left.
However, after reading this http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faq.html and this http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faqchannel.html I'm assuming it must just be an error.
It doesnt mention anything about not including student editions and all offer pages I've seen have a link to the education store.

I bought a twelve-month Dreamweaver CC program with monthly payment that I have paid via bank transfer and there would be a question about the activation. How could I get the license key with which I can activate my account? I can not find it and now I only have access to the trial version.

There is no serial number require for Creative Cloud products, you may activate the products using your email address and password which is associated with Adobe. If your Dreamweaver asking for serial number, then make sure you are signing in with correct email address.

  • Question about subclips in a long project

    Hello all;
I am editing a 1 hour long documentary in full HD with a lot of clips and so forth in it.  What I have been doing is for some segments creating a sequence in another project, rendering it and saving it as a H264 Full HD format, the same as the main project.  Then importing that rendered version into the main project instead of all the component parts.  This makes it harder if I want to change anything in that segment, but it cuts down on the load time of the main project, and seems to work OK.
My question is - when I finally render the whole 1 hour project, will these included clips get degraded because they will be (I guess) rerendered?  Is there a better strategy for this?  Also, I'm doing the project in three 20 minute sections that I intend to simply run back to back in Encore when I'm done.  Is that likely to be a problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
    Jim G.

    Hello again.
I hope you don't mind if I ask you a follow up question about this issue of consolidating complex sequences into a rendered video file and then using that in a longer sequence.   On CS5 within the Export screen there is a button labeled, "Match Sequence Settings"  if I render a segment with that selected and import that into a longer sequence is that a problem too?  Or do I have to select something like AVI lossless?  Or should I avoid that as well?
Finally, for After Effects segments that I want to incorporate into Premier, I can use the Dynamic LInk thing, but it seems to mess with the color when I see it in Premiere.  Would it be OK to use the lossless renders from AE in the CS5 timeline?
I apologize for pestering you with these questions.
    Thanks,  Jim Greeson

    Hi!
    I'm a grade five student,

    web design and animations.
    I already have Photoshop cs5

Dreamweaver is the correct program right?
I also have a question about Adobe Courses (Online)
Will they go through, and show you how to set up websites
with dreamweaver... Templates, etc. stuff like that?
    All comments appreciates.
    Thanks
    CG

I am hardy the most qualified to answer this, but I'll have a go at it. First of all, I admire your ambition!
Dreamweaver is a great tool, but it will not necessarily teach you web design. Once you have some basic idea of what goes into a web design, you will realy appreciate what DreamWeaver can do for you. I am going to pass on to you the same advice given to me when I first wanted to get into DreamWeaver and web design.
I would realy suggest some basic HTML and CSS books and use a text editor to create your first pages. Once you start to undersatnd what you are doing, then by all means, get some DreamWeaver training. Everyone has their own favorite titles to learn the basics from, so I'll just say these are a suggestion and helped me get started. The Head First series was clearly written, has a good sense of humor and helped me get the basics. Check your Libraries, second hand book stores, or other resale outlets. I know you mentioned the Adobe Online, but I've also used, and like, the Adobe Classroom in a Book series. Once I learned a particular version, I found the Missing Manual series good for advanced questions and going to a new version.
Don't get discouraged, stay with it and don't be afarid to try another book if you don't like the ones I've suggested. We all learn different ways and what worked for me may not work for you!

    Hi there.
Just bought new station, with NVIDIA Quadro 4000 included, and I'm trying to get my head around this mess:)
Can you please help me with those questions:
    1) Is Quadro 4000 fully supported by CS5?
    2) Should I download some special soft and plug ins to fell the kick it should provide?
    3) What about this RENDERING confusion, it's clearly said in hundreds of videos online that Rendering should be a lot faster (h264 and such). And it isn't. Also there is a MainConcept 5.1 codec - is it for real? From creators of it:
"Main Concept 5.1 gives CUDA H.264/AVC Encoding support for NVIDIA GPU accelerated H.264/AVC encoding for selected presets"
    4) My playback isn't smooth at all:( I've got new station with 12Gb ram, RAID, i7 quadcore and Quadro 4000, edeiting standard h264 DSLR 1080p footage. I didn't even tryied famous 9 in 1 playing realtime, it's getting choppy with 2 already:/
GPU acceleration is on, everything seems to work fine. I'm confused. Moreover, my friend got exactly the same PC station only with cheap regular Geforce, and actually i don't see any difference. Am I doing something wrong or was I just tricked by Nvidia superb marketing? And it brings me to:
    5) Most important: can You please advice us how to SETUP and use PREMIERE PRO, PHOTOSHOP, and such to take most of Quadro? Web is overrun with videos about how great and 10x faster it will be when you buy it;), but totally confusing when it comes to real advices.
    Thanks a lot Todd

    > 1) Is Quadro 4000 fully supported by CS5?
    Yes.
    > 3) What about this RENDERING confusion, it's clearly said in hundreds of
videos online that Rendering should be a lot faster (h264 and such).
    And it isn't.
Rendering is the creation of images. That's faster. Encoding/compression takes those images and converts them to a specific format. That's not accelerated by CUDA in Premiere Pro CS5.
    > Also there is a MainConcept 5.1 codec - is it for real? From creators of it:
"Main Concept 5.1 gives CUDA H.264/AVC Encoding support for NVIDIA GPU accelerated H.264/AVC encoding for selected presets"
Yes, MainConcept offers some additional software that uses CUDA to accelerate encoding/compression. That's separate from what Premeire Pro CS5 offers. If you have questions about that, then you should ask MainConcept.

Have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) update? What operating system?
The CUDA acceleration only accelerates some things. If you have bottlenecks elsewhere, then those will still slow you down. For example, if you aren't using multiple fast local hard disks (one for OS and applications, one for source media, one for output files) then you'll have poor performance.
