Question about Movie Rentals

When you rent a movie, how long is the rental good for? When time runs out, does it delete itself from your hard drive? Does it stay on the iPod until you sync or does it stop working there after a certain amount of time?
Thanks for the answers!

Does anyone else think 24 hours is too short for a movie rental?
I watch these on my iPhone when I have time over a 2-3 day period.
I think 48 should be the minimum and possibly 72 hours.
Who/where can make concern know to Apple?
Thanks.

  • Question about Movie Rental Times and AirPlay

Just wondering. I have been sitting with my Apple TV2 since I got it this morning with it saying to download an hd movie. 1920 minutes remaining.I can get a faster download off my computer so that comes to my second question. Can I rent it on my computer and airplay it to my Apple TV?
Oh and my network speed is 3mbs. Not alot I know... But is that ok?

Are either of you using a DNS server / name server other than the one provided by your Internet service provider? OpenDNS or Google's DNS service, for instance? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, probably not.) There have been a number of reports suggesting that this can result in slow media downloads due to the way the movie servers try to optimize delivery based on your location, though it's unclear to me how accurate this really is.
Also, be aware that by default, the new Apple TVs provide "hi-def" rentals from the iTunes store (this is not applicable to Netflix), which means a larger and therefore longer download. To rent standard definition, you have to go into Settings and switch rentals to standard definition.

  • Questions about movies in iTunes

I like our new iPhone and still need the iPod Classic because of its nice large hard drive (which still doesn't hold all podcasts).
I bought the Classic more for its ability to share pictures than to play music.
Photo Stream's nice, but not for > 1,000 pictures... which for us is not for > 3-4 months ago.
So having all pictures on the Classic helps us share with Mom and others, via the Classic, and better... via the TV screen (via the cables).
To do this, I have, every few weeks, dragged and dropped the home camera movies from iPhoto into iTunes.
When that happens, only the name comes across, no date information.
So, to then have the movies in a good sort order (since we had more than one camera, sorting by file name doesn't work), I needed to manually name each one.
    Questions:
    1) How to get all deails about the movies, especially the date/time stamps, from iPhoto into iTunes?
    2) If we can't do that... is there a way to use automator to, after I highlight a movie or group of movies and press the macro keystrokes (does it support that??), read the number of the current highest-number movie (I rename to Video###) + 1?
With either of these, my life would be easier getting all content onto the iPod Classic.
    On a related note...
Some podcasts don't download in a format that works on the iPod.
Is there a way, beyond the manual one I use, to convert the file formats automatically to the one that plays on iPods?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi there,
I'm new to the part of buying movies in iTunes store and got some questions about it. I live in Cologne, Germany. iTunes settings are set to English (US).
I found myself in the US Store but after all I can't buy items there, which is pretty annoying anyway and got forwarded to the German store, which is missing .. lots of content (e.g. Echelon Conspiracy).
go to the iTunes store. click on "TV Sendungen" (tv shows), and find the entry +exclusive: unaired TV shows in english+ in the upper right corner.

  • Question on Movie Rental

    Hello all.
This will be the first time I am renting a movie and I got a couple of questions.
This is from the iTS Movie Rental Support Docu:
    • You can only play your rented movies on the computer you rented it from and only if it is authorized to play your iTunes Store purchases and rentals.
Please refer to the last point; *Query: If I rent and download a movie from my iMac (main computer), can I transfer it to my MacBook?* OR that I just have to rent it off my MacBook? Because I was thinking of syncing the rental to my iPod and iPhone too (just in case) and they are connected/sync to my iMac.
    Merry Christmas and Cheers!

I think as you read more you will find that if you transfer the rental it will be deleted from the other device. You cannot have a rental on 2 devices. You have 30 days to view the movie - once you start viewing you have 24 hours to view it as many times as you want - then the content will automatically delete.

All information is greatly appectiated

    Hello horsecrazy,
I want to get a certain clip our of a certain movie but i cannot find a way to do this at all
Do you want to export a single clip from an iMovie project? If so, place the clip in the timeline, then choose File > Share from the menu. Select Quicktime and "Full Quality" and make sure you check "Share selected clips only". Hit share and have a coffee while iMovie exports.
    hope this helps

  • Questions About Movies

I came to the assumption, in another support topic, I couldn't add my own DVD's to my iTunes account or Touch. Therefore I realized I could only get movies from iTunes. This is probably the first time I searched for movies in my iTunes account, and I expected a giant variety of movies available for purchase; however, I got the opposite. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong.
Half the movies in the store are rentals, and they don't offer many classic or even new movies in the store. Is this just because I am looking in the wrong place, or is this really how it is?
If I am looking in the wrong place, please give me instructions on how to find the entire list of movies listed in the store.
I prefer to buy a movie, rather than rent it...

Aside from movies available from the iTunes Store, ones you make yourself, and ones sent to you in an unencrypted form, such as a home video made by a family member or content specifically intended for iTunes from some recent DVD packages, you can't.

  • Newie question about movie score

I've never really used sountrack before for a movie score and now that I am I have a quick question. In the left pane where the movie plays it allows you to make the movie 50 percent 100 percent and so on, but when I do that the pane stays the same size. How do I make it bigger so that the whole movie at 50 percent shows?
    null

Grab the video tab and "tear it off", it becomes a floating window you can resize.
If you leave it set to +Fit to Window+ it can be any size you want.

  • Questions about movie clips

I want to play a movie clip in a separate file. First, I use loadMovieNum("[url]",1); which works, but the movie is ends with being too large, even though I adjusted the movie clip's size and exported it. When I load the movie, is there something I can do to adjust the movie in code?
Also, when the movie ends, is there a way to have it move the main page to the next frame (e.g., on(release){gotoAndStop(2);})?

    Bump. Anyone?

  • A question about movie clips and the eraser

So I'm kinda new to flash and whatnot, probably not nearly as
good as half you people with the scripting and I donno what half of
things you say are.. and yeah.. but I'll learn one day. :]
Anyways.. so I want to use the eraser tool to erase a
graphic, but it doesn't seem to be able to do that. Basically I
have this picture of an eraser and when I l click the link I want
the eraser to erase the page, but the thing that actually could
erase doesn't seem to erase things unless they're made in flash.
    Suggestions???
Also, how do you make a movie clip stop moving when you hover
    over it?

Ok - let's go step by step:
    Re-re wrote:
    > In flash CS3 there's an eraser tool that lets you erase
    things, but doesn't let
    > you erase graphics from what I can see.
"Graphics" is a pretty general term - it can mean anything
from vectors to bitmaps to symbol
instances. I have to assume that you are referring to
    imported graphics. Please clarify.
If you are finding the eraser tool does not erase "graphics"
then you are either trying to erase a
    bitmap or an instance.
If bitmap: you must break it apart or Trace Bitmap (convert
to vectors) before using the eraser
tool. More importantly, if you are trying to erase part of a
    bitmap, it is probably more
advantageous to go back to the original source file and edit
it in your graphics editor and
    re-import into flash.
If it is an instance of a Graphic symbol, double click the
symbol to enter Edit Mode - then use the
eraser tool (assuming the artwork inside this symbol is
vector art. If a bitmap refer to the
    previous steps.

Here's where my confusion increases - this is a different
issue from the first one right? The eraser
tool and this eraser button are 2 different things? Let's
assume this eraser button is something you
made ok? But your last scentence still confuses me - what
does the Flash eraser tool have to do with
    your eraser button?

Give the MC an instance name and target it on rollOver of the

  • Quick question about movie dimensions

I've got a movie that is 776 x 592 and encoded as H.264. The movie does not have an audio track. I want to cut this movie up and sync it up to a voice over file that I have as a WAV file. I want my end file to have the same dimensions (776 x 592) and hopefully not lose any quality in the video since it is a screen recording and a loss in quality will make any text appear blurry.
So, can this be done in either Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro?
PS - My first idea was to use iMovie but I quickly realized that iMovie converts all to DV and scales the video to DVD dimensions which is not what I want.

First off, you've got to get out of the h.264 codec to something you can properly edit with. (Why in heavens name did you record in that?)
Secondly you've got to edit a sequence preset to match your screen size.
If you've got the drives to handle playing it back, I'd suggest 8-bit uncompressed. Or dvcpro50. Make sure you match the framerate. Is it progressive (probably!) or interlaced? Make sure you match that.
Drop the file into compressor, set up your parameters and give it a shot. Check back in with any issues.

  • Question about movie formats

    Hello all,
I'm just curious why all movies are in .avi format and not in .mp4? Is that because of the conversion speed or quality? Lots of devices (iPhone, PSP, iTunes...) doesn't support .avi so why not to convert movies to .mp4? Isn't .mp4 also newer than .avi?
Can anybody explain it to me please?
    Thanks

Thank for the link, it's really interesting:)
But I still don't understand, why people converting movies into .avi if you need some other supplies (codecs) to play it and you cannot play it in many devices instead of .mp4, where you don't need anything else and you can play it everywhere you want.
And if .avi is more popular why companies (such as Apple, Sony, etc...) doesn't support .avi format in their devices? It doesn't make any sense. If they would provide the possibility of playing .avi format, many people will use their devices for that. I know many people who own these devices, but non of them plays videos in them, because it is not in .pm4 and nobody want's to convert the movies because it takes so long time...

  • Question about Line Rental

    Hi.
My recent (and previous bills) shows the rental charge for my "Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan" to be £15.78. But when I look at another BT webpage it says this plan costs £2.99 plus £11.54 line rental, which comes to £14.53.
How come the difference? (which appears to be 8.6%) Is this something to do with Vat?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Pure Guess but the £1.25 difference  could be due to you not opting for paperless billing.

  • Absolute beginner's question about movie making from camcorder

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I had to start someplace. My daughter just got a Sony DCRDVD mini handycam 105. It has NO hookup for importing recordings onto a computer. It has the small dvd's, the 8cm size. She has tried it on her Dell, running WindowsXP by placing it in the drive tray but it won't recognize the disc. I am using an iMac G5 iSIght and was wondering if anyone had any idea if there is a way to import the video from this size disc onto this machine. (I"m sure the side slot loading superdrive is out of the question) The cameras only adapter is one that allows it to be plugged into a TV or VCR using RCA type plugs. Surely there is SOME external drive that will allow my mac to be able to import the video on these discs. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. It has her wedding and reception on it and is afraid it's lost and can never be edited in any way.
    Thanks

My last bit of advice would be to use a DVD - R (or - RW) which at this point in time a more universal (older) format v. DVD + R which is a little newer and not all older DVD/VCR players can read...
Well, at least that's what they tell me...

    MOVIE RENTALS
Movies are viewable only on your Mac or Windows computer (using iTunes version 7.6 or later), iPhone, video-enabled iPod (iPod touch, iPod nano (3rd generation), or iPod classic), or on TVs using your Apple TV. Movies in high definition resolution (HD) are viewable only on TVs using your Apple TV and must be downloaded directly to your Apple TV. Movies are viewable only on one device at a time.
You must be connected to the iTunes Store when moving or streaming movies. Once a movie is moved, it is no longer viewable on the sending device. You may only move movies to another device from your Mac or Windows computer. Movies downloaded directly to your Apple TV may not be moved.
You have thirty (30) days after downloading a movie to begin viewing. Once you begin viewing, you have twenty-four (24) hours to view the movie (the “Viewing Period”). You may view the movie an unlimited number of times during the Viewing Period. Movies are not viewable after the thirty (30) day period. Stopping, pausing or restarting a movie does not extend the available time for viewing.
If you move a movie to an iPod or iPhone and then use iTunes to restore the iPod or iPhone before you finish watching it, the movie will be deleted and will not be recoverable. This also applies to choosing Settings > Reset > Erase all content and settings on iPod touch and iPhone.
