Question about moving database

Hi,
yes I searched the forum and haven't found the information I'm looking for (maybe hidden in some big thread).
I just want to move my LR 1.1 database to another folder (HDD). Do I simply copy the whole repository or is there some tricks to know?
Thanks
Dany

To move your Catalog, Export all of your photos as a catalog. Create a new catalog where you want it and import the exported catalog. That is the simple answer.
You should carefully read Chapter 4 of the User Guide 1.1 before doing anything.

Pl post details of source and target database versions, along with your OS details.

2.I think we need to create tablespaces ,do we need to create users as wellYou can create users, but it is not necessary. You need to pre-create tablespaces only if their characteristics/locations on the target are different than on the source.

4.How come we get consistent export wetherEnsure the database is started in restricted mode, so users will not be able to access the database during the export.

1.Do we need shutdown / startup restrict the databaseNo - DBUA will do this automatically for you.
2.How can we move the files to the new locationYou can after the upgrade move the datafiles to wherever you want - use the ALTER DATABASE RENAME DATAFILE (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_1004.htm#i2082829) command.
3.Can we change db_name of the databaseI do not believe this is possible with DBUA.
4.Can we use the old database as wellNo - the database will be upgraded by DBUA - there is no "old" database.

  • Question about moving a site

This isn't a Dreamweaver question, but you guys have been
great help in the past. Perhaps you can help me here.
I have a customer, WC, who had a site through one of these
'template' companies. I have redesigned his site. His domain name
is registered through Network Solutions. If I leave the domain
registration with Network Solutions but CHANGE his hosting company,
will anything (settings, Cnames, MX records, etc) need to change on
their Microsoft Exchange server? They no longer have a network
admin, and I'm not familiar with Exchange. I don't want to risk
crashing their email for a day!
    Thanks!

This will only be true if you are not using an exchange
    server. When I do
this for non-exchange server domains, I always have the
    clients set up a new
email account that grabs incoming email from the new
    mailserver, while they
also continue to get it from the old one. In the 72 - 96
    hours it takes to
be really sure all DN servers have propagated, they will
    receive email from
both locations. After that time, they can then cancel their
    original
hosting account, and remove the associated email account.

No - not if they are using an exchange server.

  • A Question about LV Database Connectivity Toolkit

    Hello everyone!
I have a question about using LabVIEW DataBase Connectivity Toolkit 1.0.2 that eagerly needs your help. I don't know how to programmaticlly create a new Microsoft Access(.mdb)file (Not a new table in a existing Database)using LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit1.0.2. As you know, usually we can set up the connection by creating a Universal Data Link (.udl) file and inputting the path to the DB Tools Open Connec VI in the LabVIEW DataBase Connectivity Toolkit. However, searching a table within an existing database containing a great many tables is a toilfulif job. If I want to use a new DataBase file with the date and time string as its name to log my acquisition data in each measurement process, how to do? I am sure someone of you must can resolve my question, and thanks very much for your help.

I don't know what your real design considerations are here but, from I understand from your post, this is a really bad way to go about the process of logging data -- IF you want to be able to do significant ad hoc or stored procedures analyses after it has been collected.  Using separate MDB files for data that ONLY differs by one field (namely that date) is not the most efficient way to organize it.  What would be much more efficient would a joined table including the date and a reference ID of some sort for the various measurements that were done.  That way your stored procedures for looking at ALL measurements of type X would be very simple going across ALL dates.  Making such a comparison across multiple MDB files is a much more challenging process AND doing the original data collection in that way doesn't really gain you anything.
Generally, if something is difficult to do in the DCT (Database Connectivity Toolkit) it's because it's a "not good thing" to do within MDBs.  I know that others probably disagree with that but I've worked with Access since it's initial release and other RDBMs prior to that both through compiled tools, Unix scripts, etc.  You may, of course, still choose to proceed in the way you've described and that may work excellently for you.

  • Basic question about Flashback Database

    Hi,
I have a very generic question about using Flashback Database.
On my testing systems, for performance testing and simulation purposes, I want to create a guaranteed restore point so I can test impact on batch when code change releases are done, before deployment in production.  My confusion is with respect to redo logs, as summarized in the questions below:
    1. Is it possible to change redo log files, when a guaranteed restore point has been configured?
    2. If yes, will the Flashback to restore point, also change the size of the redo logs?
I could not find anything in the docs about this....hence my question....
Appreciate your time taken in responding to these questions....

  • Question about moving a SQL profile to a different database

    All,
I know in 11g I can move SQL baselines to another host. Does anyone know if I can more just a single SQL Profile and how that is accomplished. I'm not seeing a PL/SQL package do to this but I may be missing it. Also, no hits on Metalink or Ask Tom on how to do this. I have this vague memory that it is possible but I'll be dammed if I can figure out how to do it.

  • Question about Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL

    Hello,
    I've read that:
This course is a combination of Oracle Database 11g: PL/SQL Fundamentals and Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units courses.
In order to preparing for this exam, i should read the student guide, so there are 4 pdf files. One is Oracle Database 11g: PL/SQL Fundamentals, and the other 3 are regarding to Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units (volume I, II and III). My question is, regarding to this last one (Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units), which volume should i read? I saw that volume I has 400+ pages, and the IIIrd ~80.
Which document should i read? What's the difference between them?
    Thanks!

Passing the exam and becoming certified are not a matter of simply reading a book or taking a training class. While books and classroom materials as well as in-class training are all important steps in preparing for an exam, experience and research are just as important. I cannot tell you that there are 53 questions on the exam and every single question maps directly back to page 13, paragraph 3 in XX book. However, If you have the classroom material, and you have the list of exam topics, you should be able to find most of the information you need. In some cases, if you are not completely familiar with a specific topic, or you don't feel like the information in the book gives you all the information you need, you may need to do a little additional research. This is all part of preparing for an exam. This process is what makes you successful as a certified professional.
Your focus seems to be solely on the course materials that you have and what volumes and chapters you should read. I'm trying to give you a different perspective - preparing for an exam is not necessarily about taking one course or reading one book and being ready. You need to review the exam topics and be sure that you are familiar with each topic.

  • Question about B1if-Database in SQL-Mgmt-Studio

    Hello,
We have made some changes in the configuration in SLD.
We made some more Di-Proxy-Ports and then made Proxygroups for the Databases.
Nearly every half hour, in SQL-Mgmt Studio we can see this "task" ?
During the time, this task is online, the Queue-Monitor collects all Jobs... but not more.
After this Job has finished... B1i begins to work up the jobs.
Can anyone tell me something about "Rollback Transac" in  B1if-Database ?
    Thanks

  • Important Question About Moving Files

    Aloha DW Community
I need help/confirmation on this before i do it. I have
inherrited the website from hell; that meaning the folders on my
computer and on the server are very unorganized. There are images
all over the place, in places they just should not be stored. i am
getting ready to switch to a new service provider for the site so i
want to start as fresh as possible. i have already downloaded the
whole site from the server to my local computer. i have gone
through and deleted all the old files that are no longer needed.
now before i upload this site to the new server i want to collect
all the images that are spread about and place them in the same
folder. my question is this - if i gather all the images together
and upload the site, will dreamweaver correct all the link paqths
that have been switched around by me moving all the pictures? i
know DW does this, but i am not sure if it will do it on such a
    large scale.
if you know the answer, please let me know.

  • Question about moving itunes to wd external drive?

i found the page where it says u can move itunes music to external drive but will that include my tv shows also and if so can i delete it from my laptop after i move it to other drive?

\Music\iTunes\ folder is the main iTunes library location. It contains the library files, music files and everything else.
I have all of my music files already stored on an external HD. But for some reason when i moved it all
What exactly does "moved it all" mean? What did you move?
in other words in the old drive I still have the following files:
    itunes library genius
    -itunes library extras
    -itunes library
These three are all the same type of files. I don't know what type of files they are
The iTunes library.itl file is the iTunes database file. Without that, iTunes is empty.
Since i already have all of my music files on my ext. HD can I delete these files without messing anything up?
Only if you want iTunes to be completely empty and you want to start from scratch.
Moving the music file syourself is not the correct way to do it. iTunes will lose everything.
If you want to move everything, copy the entire \Music\iTunes\ folder to a new location.
    Hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the iTunes library.itl file in the iTunes folder you moved.

  • Question about using database links in Forms 10g

I have a form that uses a database link for the "Query Data Source Name," i.e. it is set to some_view@some_db_link
For some reason when I run a query using the DB link the query takes approximately 30 seconds. When I remove the link and go local the query takes about one second. Has anybody observed and addressed this issue before (without going local of course)?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

Let me first say that it is never a good idea to use a db link in the data source. It is better to create a synonym in the database and use this as the data source. If the db link changes, you only have to do this in the database, without recompiling forms.
    create synonym some_view for some_view@some_db_link
This may already solve your problem. If not, than see if the query is also slow in sqlplus. You may have a problem in your connection between the two databases.

  • Question about moving iTunes Media folder/library

    Hello,
I'm responding to the article listed here: iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support that describes moving your iTunes media folder. I have a massive music library/playlists (over 350 gigs and growing). I'm planning to relocate my media folder to Dropbox because I have ample space there and it will allow me to run my library off of multiple computers (though not at the same time). My question is this: if I follow the steps and consolidate and relocate my library to the new Dropbox folder, will all my new uploads and downloads/purchases/imports also start automatically going to this newly specified location? I want to make sure that it would.
    Thanks

Well the way that Dropbox works for me (just documents and data, not iTunes) is that I have a complete copy of the files in my Dropbox folder on my computer at home, and at work, and in the cloud on Dropbox's servers. Each time I update one of the files it is uploaded to Dropbox and then downloaded to the other client machine. When using another computer I can access my files from the Dropbox web interface, or use the Dropbox app on my iPad. It sounds like you are hoping that you can have all of your files in the cloud, and only in the cloud. I don't think it works that way.
For 350Gb and growing I think that realistically you need to stick with local storage. I clone my library to a 1Tb portable drive which I physically take to and from work, At each location I use SyncToy to synchronize the local and portable copies of the libraries effectively giving me three parallel clones of the library at all times.

  • Questions about moving from Mobile Me to iCloud

I just upgraded my iPhone to iOS5 and am curious about the move to iCloud for my mobileme account.  I know there are articles out there, but they seem very generic and do not put my fears to rest.
Here are my questions and concerns. I figure they will be easy for a lot of you to answer, but I need to pose them before I make the jump.
1.)  Do I need Lion to move to iCloud?  (from the articles I read I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I thought I'd clarify)
2.)  I have more than one mobileme account that has calendars and mail synced on my computer.  If I upgrade one account do I have to upgrade the other at the same time for iCal and Mail to work?
3.)  My husband's mobileme account syncs his work calendar.  It is very important that I don't lose his information and that his calendar works flawlessly after the upgrade.  Has anyone run into problems with the calendar syncing?  I will not move anyone's accounts if iCloud is still experiencing a lot of bugs.  I will of course make a backup copy of his calendar before upgrading, but his calendar changes often and is synced to two iMacs, a Macbook Pro, Mac Mini, an iPad and an iPhone it will not be practical to keep track of his calendar and if it is syncing properly.
4.)  How do I actually make the switch to iCloud once I make up my mind to do it?  My Phone told me to sign into me.com to do this, but when I signed in I didn't see how to say that I wanted to use the iCloud.  Maybe this is because I haven't upgraded to Lion yet?
    Thanks!

I am curious about the comment you can only use one iCloud account at a time. Right now I have my moblieme calendar and my husband's mobileme calendar both visible in iCal.  That is very convenient for us because then he doesn't have to open up a separate user on the iMac just to check his calendar (this is our home computer that is mainly mine).  Are you telling me that I won't be able to use both CalDAV accounts in iCal anymore?  Will it force me to use only one?
Most of our music and videos was purchased under my .mac account, so iTunes isn't a problem, but we like to share one user on the computer and still be able to see both our calendars and e-mail.
