Question about MSI Motherboard RMA

So my 870A-G54 shorted and wouldn't post so I RMA'd it to MSI in California.
Apparently it arrived in Walnut, CA on Thursday (hopefully the right address, the Customer Support guy told me it was the right address, not City of Industry).
The package arrived on Thursday, signed by someone named Frank and ever since then, the website for RMA tracking still says Processed instead of arrived. Is this normal? RMA customer support is terrible, always get this Chinese/Taiwanese dude who sounds like he doesn't care.

Sorry, we are all just end users like you and have no way of knowing the status of your repair. Sorry

  • Some questions about MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra

    Hi to all!
First of all sorry for my bad english  :P
I have some questions regarding this motherboard that i would like to buy.
I've red some times ago that nForce 4 chipset had a bug with the HyperTransport (or similar) so all the motherboards with this chipset were post-poned. Now the german MSI site has posted a press-release of the MSI Neo4 saying that mass-volumes distribution will be in mid december.
I would like to know if some Neo4 were distribuited before nVidia found the bug and (if so) if there's a method to identify the "good" from the "bugged" versions.
The second question is about the possible heatsink. I would like to install a Zalman CNPS-7700 AlCu (with 12x12 silent fan) but I dunno if the heatsink "dimensions" could create problems to some motherboard component.
    Thanks!

  • Question about MSI K8N SLI Platinum

i have a question about this mobo.
my previous msi boards had a feature where if u overclocked too much, and the system couldnt handle it, it would load the default settings in the bios. I really liked this feature and am wondering if it will be present in this board.
    is it?

sorry m8 after that post i double checked and i thought you were talking about neo1 - didnt notice the SLI bit  .  i think a couple of others got caught by that one too.
    so i did some investigating:
it uses the same award phoenix bios 6.00PG as neo1 and 2.  every board i have owned since kt266a fom various manufacturers with that bios has had that feature. plus the insert key trick even works on a lot of 486 and early pentium 1 machines.  i am still 99% sure it will put it that way.

  • Question about MSI NX7300GS-TD256E

    Hi Everybody.
I know this not something one should ask. But I would like to ask what is the difference between MSI NX7300GS and MSI NX7300GT? Second I would like to know something. My brother tells this problem is because my Graphic card is MSI and my motherboard is from Asrock. Now I don't know much about this. But sometimes my computer just switch off and switch on again and when I start Windows it tells me that it has been restored from a problem. Now my brother tells it is because of the Graphic card. Can a Graphic card do that to a computer? Or can be something else. My mother uses Northbrigde and southbrigde from VIA. And he said it is not something that one likes to have on ones motherboard. Can that do what I said? And can one change ones graphic card after some time? Like can I change my MSi NX7300GS to a MSI NX7300GT? Or should one take another card? Like 7600GT? I usually don't play much games since I am not very found of games. I hope someone can help me with an answer to these question.
    Yours

  • Questions About MSI Z87-GD65 System fan Currents!

    Hi,
I have a few questions on the MSI Z87-GD65 System Fan currents. I want to hook up 2-4 120mm case fans together through a PWM Female to 4 x PWM Male Computer Case Fan Splitter and connect it to one of the SYSfans on the Motherboard, but I am unsure about the current limit on the SYSfan1-3 on the motherboard. Also I was unsure if I needed to have a 4-pin connector or 3-pin connector. On the online manual it says that for Sysfans1-3
    Pin #1 is Ground
    Pin #2 Is Speed Control
    Pin #3 is Sense
    And Pin #4 is NC
What does NC mean? Do I need a 3 pin or 4 pin connector?
    Thank You For any assistance!

    NC isn't used.
The sys fans you only need to get a 3 wire fan for the cpu fans a 4 wire fan would be indicated.
The amp rating is 1amp I believe.
If you want to really control and monitor your fans, it is best to use an outside fan controller. I use the Corsair Link in one of my computers which I like, but is overkill.

  • Questions about MSI FX5600-VTDR128

    Hi,
I'm considering purchasing the MSI FX5600-VTDR128 graphics card, but I have a few questions that I wondered if anyone could help me with.  First, has anyone had major problems with the card?  Also, I wondered if the tv-out feature would work using only rca composite cable because I do not have an S-video port on my tv.
    Thanks

I'll be honnest...  it might not be a good purchase if you are a gamer.  You can find other MSI card doing better.
The major problems i've seen is:
      - Slow for games
      - IRx application for the remote control have serious
memory leak and i don't know if MSI really care about
that.  People yell about that in every forums but
there's simply no MSI answer!  You often have to
kill this task and throw the remote control in the
garbage if you don't want to loose memory.
I'm acutally loosing 8k per second.  Any programmer
from MSI forgot to do a "MyObject = Nothing" after
a "MyObject = New Something()"???  Common, it's easy
to find this problem.  it take exactly 8192 bytes...
someone can find where you ask to the OS to give you
        8K of ram!?  ANSWER MSI!!!!!
      - Media Center reset your screen to 1024x768 with a
screen refresh of 60Hz!!!  Each time you get out of
Media Center, it keep that stupid resolution.
(Everybody yell after that too in the forums, this
        is crappy programmation).
Of course like the moderator said... satisfied customer never come to write on the forums.  But to be honnest, not every customer are computer Wiz and many customer think that it's normal to reboot a PC every 1-2 hours... "It's normal, it's just a PC after all"... lol.  Common!  The problem is that the PC works FINE!  The bad programs doesn't!  And it's not normal to find such an untested software on the market!
Hopefuly, thoses who make hardware only are more serious and test their stuff before selling them.
And to finish, you asked if it was able to work with an RCA because you don't have an S-video yet.  I would say, yes because there's an adaptor with 2 plugs of each (input/ouput, for s-video and rca).
I've not been able to make mine work yet... i'm trying to find out what's wrong.  mine is plugged onto my video RCA output.  I setup my video to send the signal on the rear RCA plugs but the Media Center just get nothing!  But i'm sure there's something i didn't understood.  It's the first time i try to watch tv on a comp...
hope this might help to make your choice.

  • Question about MSI Z87 boards and NVMe PCI-E SSDs

With the release of the Intel SSD 750 PCI-E SSD and more NVMe SSDs no doubt to follow, will the older motherboards like the Z87 series get updates so that they can boot with NVMe SSDs?
All of the Z97 and X99 boards already have compatibility:
    http://www.msi.com/news/1949.html
What about older chipsets like Z87, Z77? Z87 in particular is very similar to Z97, so I'd imagine it'd be the most likely candidate.

    Yeah I did.

Did anyone get an answer from MSI.
MSI is there going to be a BIOS release to support the ability to boot off of nvme PCIe cards for the M87 boards?
MSI Tech.   05/14/2015   We unfortunately do not have any information regarding any future support for these series boards and supporting NVMe, you , you may continue to visit our news section for updates as they become available. http://us.msi.com/news/
I think is possible though - that and it's likely these boards may support Broadwell as well.

  • Questions about MSI K8T NEO FIS2R

I've just got the board and updated to the latest bios, everything is ROCK STABLE with my HyperX 3500 ram at rated timings( a suprise since ive read that they wouldn't!).
    Now the questions:
    1. After update to 1.2 BIOS the temp in BIOS appeared as 64 degreas C! CoreCenter says 30 idle as before.....EDIT: After yet another restart the temp is back to normal in BIOS?!
    2. In version 1.1 I noticed that the vcore options were available upto 1.625 now with this BIOS ists 1.55V.....I saw that the BIOS contained some vcore settings updates, but never thought that this would be it.....
So far very impressed with the board, installation was easy and the system is rock solid from day 1.....

1.2 BIOS puts the max vCore to 1.55 just like you said, and after your BIOS is cleared at first boot up you will always get a bad temp reading, only after a restart will you get the correct temp reading.  It is quite annoying when you are building with this mobo for the first time but I figured it out after I tightened my timings to much and had to reset the BIOS about 15 times, looking for the best performance possible.  It would be nice if MSI fixed that temp problem.

  • A quick and simple question about MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum

I want to overclock my 3500+ but when I go like to 2.4GHZ, the computer isn't stable and sometimes even corrupt some of my Windows files.
My HTT is alright so my mobo stays around 800MHZ
My memory is at 166MHZ so it doesn't go too high
My Vcore is 1.4v but this overclock is so minimal it doesn't cause a problem
Last thing.... AGP and PCI Locks
AGP, no problem, it is locked to 66MHZ, but what about PCI?
I downloaded CoreGen and when I increased the HTT, AGP stood at 66, but PCI increased with it.
Some told me that when you lock AGP to 66, it will also lock PCI, well I have to say that it ain't true 'cause I experienced it myself.
Why isn't PCI Clock not in the motherboard, or is it? and any other motherboard have it???

Never mind, I just noticed I had to put the AGP to 67MHZ to lock both, BUT, I think my comp just sucks in overclocking.....
    I set it to 2400MHZ
220x11 with memory at 183MHZ using A64Tweaker so that make my memory set to right on 200MHZ.
My motherboard is set to 880MHZ (800MHZ Origin) so I set HTT to 3 to make 660MHZ and still doesn't work.
When I say it doesn't work it is because my PC doesn't pass Super PI test, it freezes completly after the first LOOP but if I do not run Super PI, the PC won't crash. Is it a Super PI problem or what?

  • Some questions about MSI Z97M Gaming before I buy...

First question is, there seems to be some issues with updating firmware, whats the issue of using M Flash thats built into the BIOS? I was reading the sticky and it's talking about making a boot disc to do it. Also how is the Killer NIC? Once again I see a lot of problems with it here on this forum. I prefer Intel NICs but i'm willing to give something a chance. Last question, can the LED audio accent lighting strip (the one for the audio) be turned off? I downloaded the PDF manual and it didn't say anything about it.
    Thanks for your time guys

The BIOS comes with the BIOS + ME update for that BIOS version and if you do use M-flash make sure to use Update BIOS and ME option....

3: no idea... (it may be possible but i just do not know)
I do not have one of those boards so I do not know
    Quote from: JLio01 on 02-September-14, 15:53:26
Also, you could turn off some of the LEDs including the audio strip under BIOS settings. I have the same LED stripe on my MB, I believe it's the same design and can be turned off.
like this guy said if its like his it can probably be turned off (my quote: (it may be possible but i just do not know)) in the BIOS settings somewhere but you would have to go section by section to find it (I do not see why they wouldn't have some option to disable it but it may be a little tricky to find and probably in some obscure sub menus under lighting or chipset features or something)!

  • Question about MSI/VIA/ATi compatibility

As you can see, I may be getting an X850XT soon for my 6800gt. Ihave had one ATi card in the past which was my 9800 pro a whileback, and it was a good card, but I did have some issues back then, whether it was problems with VIA or not. Anyways, I have read somecomplaints by other people who say that ATi cards and VIA  chipsetsdon't and especially MSI boards get along sometimes and cause problems in games. I was hopingthat this board can shine some light into this, thanks inadvance! Do MSI boards seem to suffer more with ATi products rather than NV products?

I've owned both the 6800GT and the X800XT (both AGP) and used both with K8T Neo2 board.  I had some mouse issues when using the 6800GT.  It would disappear during gaming.  This was nVidia driver related.  Overall, I think they are both fine with MSI boards in either nVidia or VIA chipsets.  The occassional driver issue is hard to avoid from either camp.
I have used numerous MSI boards, both VIA and nVidia, in the past with Radeon 9700Pro and 9800Pro and nVidia MX cards.  No troubles that I can warn you about.  Maybe some issues arise when overclocking?  I usually don't overclock & when I do, it is mild.  I think if you run pretty standard fare you will be fine no matter what you choose.  Just my observations...

  • Question about MSi Drivers

Why is it that the 53.03 drivers from msi installs winsys.exe into the registry so it resides in memory? I belive this code is a keylogger Win-spy parasite.
The strange thing is, that with winsys activated my result on 3dmark2001se is 13200+, with it diabled the result drops to 12700.
    Anyone else noticed this??

Thank you ever so much for the help, my mind is put at rest now!!
BTW what do you think of my powersupply is it good enough for a geforcefx 5900 ultra?
Also is the performance for my setup about right with 13200+ 3dMark2001se & 4170 in 3DMark 2003?
