Question about photo shop, need help

    I downloaded a version of photoshop a friend recommended because I was looking for a free photoshop to use... So I downloaded it, and when I opened it, here is the response I got:
    "This program may not have installed correctly. If this program didn't install correctly, try reinstalling using settings that are compatible with this version of windows."

    I really want to figure out how to get this to work, I am terrible with computers and I don't even know if it is gonna show the link to the photoshop I had downloaded here on this post, but, I wanna figure out how to get this to work so I can go about creating my own mugen video game (I wanna learn mugen).. But first I need to figure out how to get photoshop to work, I am not very good with computers. Does anyone have any idea why I "may not have installed it correctly?

Bravo to you for seeing the light that if you want to play you have to pay.
The best place to buy Photoshop is directly from Adobe.
Brace yourself: The full version of Photoshop is amongst the most expensive software out there.
You might want to look into buying Photoshop Elements. It does most of what the full version of Photoshop does and it won't break the bank.
And stay off eBay for buying Photoshop. The "too-good-to-be-true prices" you sometimes see are scams, and you'll likely get ripped-off.
For what it's worth, I don't know of too many programs that charge as subscriptions. Of course, if you consider that every few years new versions are released that require paying for the upgrade, that's not too different. But if you don't upgrade you can keep using the version you have for no additional cost.

Question about hard drive, need help lol.

Hey I'm kinda new to the MacBook world and have a stupid question. I am getting a late 2009 MacBook unibody (white polycarbonate, model MacBook 6.1... I believe) I am switching the original 250gb 5400 rpm hard drive out for a Seagate Momentus XT 750gb 7400 rpm hybrid hard drive. I want to keep everything on the original hard drive and just pop the new hard drive and start fresh with Snow Leopard. I'm going to purchase the SL cd from apple but I do not have the original grey start up cd that came with it (my girlfriends little sister lost it). Do I need to call apple for that cd in order to start fresh on my new hard drive or is everything I need on the SL cd?
Also how do I go about wiping the whole computer when I put the hard drive in and use SL? I want to essentially have a completely clean laptop with a new hard drive.

The SL disc you get from Apple will do everything you need. When you nstall the new hard drive there will be nothing to wipe, the drive is the only piece of that Mac hat stores anything so you don't need to worry about that. Post back and let me know how that hybrid drive works out....I'm interested.

Question about Dynamic Overclocking - Need help/advice

I recently upgraded to version 3.9 bios on my MB (K8N SLI paltinum).
I had DOT enabled before the upgrade, on 9% extra. this worked ok. as soon as a program required heavy CPU, DOT kicked in and give me a 9% boost. and it also cooled off, back to normal operations when the CPU was idle again.
now, since the upgrade to 3.9, the DOT always stays at 9%? when booting up, when idling, always...? Is there a setting that I missed? or is it a bug in 3.9?
--> after the upgraded I loaded the optimized defaults.

thnx all for the updates. I'm currently using DOT on 9%. It runs rock stable. IIf I set it on 11%, no problems.
C&Q is off, always was.
The problem with DOT is, that it doesn't do what it should do. (in 3.9 bios). nl, when the CPU runs on 0% load, no Over-clocking is need.
Any other settings that I should check?
Do I need to turn on Q&C?

Question About Photo Printers

Excuse me for asking a question about photo printers here, but I could not find a place in the Apple Discussions form for printers.
I'm thinking about buying an Epson R1900 printer since my primary selection criteria is the quality of glossy photographs.
However, I have been told that use of the R1900 for general purposes (with a "standard" printer setting and non-photo paper) will detract from the R1900's performance when it will be used for printing photos (with photo RPM printer settings on premium photo paper or other media). But I just do not know whether this is correct. I was planning to have only one printer and expecting to use the photo printer as my "general purpose" printer (text, documents etc.).
I would appreciate receiving advice/guidance from people who know about printers and/or people having with experience with the Epson R1900.

I use my photo printer in two ways.
For high quality prints I use the manufacturers Glossy paper and their expensive archival Quality inks for excellent results. More commonly though, I change out those ink cartridges and replace them with a cheaper water soluble ink bought online and use normal A4 copy paper for printing web pages and PDF documents.
This second practice is about 60% cheaper in ink and copy paper is only about 1 cent per sheet and is satisfactory for such documents.
The disadvantage is that is does require physically replacing one set of ink cartridges for the other, also if moving from basic to quality, I also do the inkhead alignment tests and adjustments to ensure that the output for glossy photos is going to be first rate.
I find this necessary to prevent waste of good pigments, yet it still allows the printer to be used for more mundane usage of printing documents. The cost of printers is heavily discounted, as the manufacturers recoup their cost from the sale of ink. Hence one needs to have this dual usage in place to get the best of both worlds.
This advice is not specific to one model photo printer, rather it is a general approach developed after spending too much money on good ink, printing web pages.

Seriously...FaceTime is banned there...there is no way to add it back to your phone...if you wanted FaceTime, you should not have purchased your phone there.
BTW: You don't have any warranty or support for this phone in India.

Thinking of making the PC to Mac Move, questions about Photos App

Helped my mother on her Mac a little bit and got the Photos App working for her. Now my turn, I have been a die hard Windows user, but I will never use a Windows phone. (Can never give up my iPhone) I have been taking on a huge family project of scanning old photos and dating them. Along with digital photos from early 2000’s. I have probably about 10,000 photos. (And 20,000 more to scan) In Windows I use photo gallery 2012 to organize and date etc. my photos. The thing I like about photo gallery is that when I make a change to a photo it edits the original. The dates and GPS I add to the photo are forever saved to the file in the metadata.
I am very tempted to move to a Mac. (I have an iPhone & Apple TV, I would like to sync across all my devices) I never like iPhoto, the idea of a “non destructive” editing means I have to import and export photos. I think the new Photos app might work for me.
A few questions:
If I move all my directories/folders of my photos to a Mac, will I be able to use the Mac Photo App to edit the photos and the changes I make be saved directly to the photo file in the respective folder? (Or are the photos then saved in a new location after being edited in the Mac Photo App?)
If I turn on the iCloud Photo Library (on the Mac & iPhone) I understand all my photos will be uploaded to the cloud and any changes made on either device will be seen on the other. My question, if I make changes to a photo that is in the iCloud will that change be made to the original photo file that is stored on the Mac? (Basically I want to have at all times a hard drive copy for my personal backup)
With the iCloud Photo Library feature I understand that any new photo I take with my iPhone is uploaded to the iCloud. Are the photos taken on the iPhone physically downloaded to the Mac? I know I can view them on the Mac Photo app, but I want to know if they are downloaded to the Mac and if so where does it save the new photos?

I do not use ICloud so someone else will need to answer those questions. For question one though... Photos, like Aperture and Iphoto before it, puts your photos in its own filing system. You would need to export the photos to get them back out of Photos. You can export them to anywhere in your mac file system.

Looking for Photo shop 6 help.

I am new to Photo shop and Photoshop element 6 came with my new Epson Scanner... I am in the process of scanning hundreds of slides that I have from years ago. Some of them are in need of help. I can't seem to find the help I need for Element 6. I am trying to fix a couple now that have a crackle look to them...I have been trying with the top photo of our son who is now 44, so that tells you how old these are.
Our daughter on the right is now 49 and handicapped so really want to try and learn this. Like I said I am new to this but follow directions well and want to learn, thank you so much.

This program has a steep learning curve. There are many books available to assisit you - check in the library.
Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage is excellent. It is available at Amazon for a bargain price, since the latest iteration of the program is Photoshop Elements 9. However, since you have v.6, I would work with that. You don't need all the bells and whistles to start with.

As for your second picture, it appears to be in better shape.
I restored the faces of the little girl and the lady with the healing brush tool, and got rid of most of the glare in the eyes. (Don't know if that is in v.6, if not, you can use the clone tool)
I boosted the contrast .
The thing to remember when restoring these old pictures is that the enemy of good is perfection. One can touch up a spot here and there with the brush tool, but it is apt to look fake when carried too far.

Hi.I just use my photo stream with icloud control panel.First it's work,my pictures upload automatically to my pc but now when I take new photos,they are not sent.

Questions about photos and resizing

Hello I have a simple question about resizing photos. When I grab one of the corners of a photo it will resize everything instead of just changing it horizontally or veritcally. Anyone know of a way to fix this??

In the Metrics inspector window, uncheck the box next to "Constrain proportions".
However, resizing in just one direction or not uniformly will distort the image.

Questions about Photo Files

I am new to Mac and have a couple of questions about storing photo files just so I'm clear on everything I'm doing (or should be doing).
I have copied my files over from an external hard drive to the Pictures folder on the Mac which seems pretty much how they were stored in Windows. I have always used Photoshop to edit my photos and will be doing the same on the Mac plus I am going to start using Aperture.
I thought I would check out iPhoto today and if I understand correctly it imported (copied) all the photos in my files over to it so now there are two copies of all my photos and double the space taken up on the hard drive. Can someone confirm this is true and if probably not the best way to store my photos since I will be using Photoshop?
My second question, is there a way to have thumbnails of the photos in folders with out opening the folders?
Any and all advice on photo files, storage, ect. is welcome!

That's correct - when iPhoto imports your images, it stores them in its library (Pictures/iPhoto/iPhoto Library, which appears to the Finder as a single file, but which is actually a package containing files and folders). It doesn't delete the original version.
Both Aperture and Adobe Bridge (which is bundled with Photoshop) will themselves have the ability to manage your images, so you'll probably want to decide which application you prefer for image organisation and stick with one or the other. Aperture and iPhoto will also work together, so you can actually choose to store your masters in iPhoto if you prefer its image management.
Both Aperture and Bridge have "thumbnail view" of an image library, or you can do a quick and dirty preview by opening the image folder in the Finder and switching to icon view (and using the View Options menu - cmd-J - to increase the icon size if necessary).

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

If you are trying to connect to your ISP e-mail account. The ISP will help you setup and connect to your e-mail account. So, you might want to give them a call.
Usually, when you are told that you can't use the server it means that there might be an error (either a wrong name/ address / password/ connection type/ etc.) so check your settings again...
