Question about Picture Icons

We have a list of products on one side of the window. On the
other side is one image of one of the products. I wanted to find
out if there, I know there is, but..., way to have the picture
change when a mouse rolls over another one of the Items? I
basically want to make it like this - When the page opens there is
a picture of the first item of the list showing, but when the
viewer rolls his/her mouse over another one of the items, the
picture changes to that item. Now, if the mouse moves off of that
item the picture still stays up, it only changes when the mouse is
moved over another one of the items. Second, right now the text of
the items or the titles is also a link to another window to view
that item, ingredients and directions. Does this make any
difference? Will it change anything about the picture changes?
Thanks

• Question about pictures file in home folder

I am trying to create more space on my hard drive and have a question about the pictures file.
In addition to the iPhoto Library I have several folders named 1, 2, 3 etc each containing a bunch of photos; plus several hundred individual photo files.
My question is whether these files are duplicates of what is in the iPhoto Library - and is there an easy way to find that out?
And I guess also to find out how they got there in the first place. Could these be imports from disks as opposed to my digital camera?
Thanks for any help,
Laura

Hey laura,
I haven't used iPhoto for a while but from memory i think that i work similar to iTunes. Whne files are processed by iPhoto they are catalogued on the hard drive according to the iPhoto preferences. I would check out the iPhoto preferences and see if you can see anything in here that will tell you what is going on.

• Question about photo icons on songs.

Hey guys, I got a simple question to ask.
Well, I just got a new 30GB Ipod Video today, and it works fine. However, after I added all of my songs to my ipod, I also wanted to upload the little photo icons next to them as well when you play a song. So I put one photo on an entire album, but then when I disconnected my Ipod, it's not there! Can someone help me?

Since the iPod might have updated before you applied the artwork you may have to update the iPod again. Press "File"> "update iPod" to update it without having to disconnect and reconnect your iPod.

• Question about class icons

So I learned today that a child class's icon is created by merging the child's icon as displayed in the class properties with the parent's icon as it appears in the parent's properties (the child's icon being the top image in the merge and the parent's the bottom). This isn't obvious from normal operation since the default icons are the same size and thus the child's icon perfectly overlaps and thus displaces the parent's. However, I drew an icon that extends a little bit beyond the bottom of the border of where the default icon normally goes (in the parent icon). This change was propogated to my numerous child classes, and now the icon is cut off on like 100 vis and it looks dumb.
Technically, this doesn't change anything about my program. Since I never actually place the child vi's on a block diagram, I never see the icons except when editing the child vis or when they are calling each other (one child vi calls the other, which is rare). The code is only brought into the main vi via dynamic dispatch. That said, I'd love to know if there is a way to override the default behavior of how labview builds these vi icons. It's driving the pedant in me crazy.

Hi majoris
could you post an example of this so I can look at it more closely?

• Question about desktop icons

Hi, My question is what are the settings that need to be changed to get rid of the icon menu that appears around desktop icons when your cursor is over the icon? The feature I'm refering to comes up around the icon and has a button to resize the icon a button to rotate the icon a button to close the icon and one to give the prperties. I have several different distro that use kde4.2 or 4.3 and all have this disabled by default. At this point the only distro I have with this annoyance on the desktop is Arch. I tried to google this question but without knowing the proper term for this "feature" I was unable to find an answer. I hope I have descibed it well enough here that someone can tell me how to disable this great annoyance.

Right click the desktop and select "lock widgets"

• Probably simple question about mailbox icons

Hei folks,
Sorry if this topic has been answered before, but my search didn't bring anything suitable up.
For the question: I have 3 Imap-Accounts, and each of these got another collection of icons in Mail:
image: http://img204.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sidebarnh8.jpg
The accounts named Web, FSMB and myTUM are all 3 IMAP Accounts.
So why does
-> Web have an icon within my inboxes collection WITHOUT subfolders but WITH that grey (@) icon
-> FSMB have an icon within my inboxes collection WITH subfolders AND WITH that grey (@) icon
-> myTUM have an icon within my inboxes collection WITH subfolders but NO grey (@) icon
I mean, I think I have configured them all the same way, and it just bugs me a little, I'd like to have them all under 'My Inboxes' or how it's called in English, WITH subfolders, but get rid of the grey ones that just use up space!
If there IS a solution (and probably it's darn simple and can be done with 5 clicks, huh), it would be really cool.
Thanks for reading (and perhaps answering),
Jojo
(PS: as always, please excuse my bad English)
PS2 & edit: Also - why do I have only outgoing mailboxes for web (imap) and gmx (pop) and not the others? arg!

Hi Jojo.
It seems to me that you posted in the wrong (Panther) forum, but the answer would be the same.
The accounts for which Mail shows mailboxes on the server as subfolders of the account's Inbox require INBOX to be put in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix for Mail to handle them properly.

• Doing a upgrade,Question about pictures

I have just received OS X Snow leopard and I'm just about to do the up grade from OS X 10.5 and I'm wondering if I need to back up my pictures or will they be transferred to Snow Leopard.

You always need a backup of everything important on your computer. Or better, more than one backup. There is never, ever a time that you should be without at least one complete backup. Time Machine is simple and effective for the first backup. Get an external hard drive at least 50% bigger than your internal disk and turn on Time Machine. Make it your top computer-related priority.

• Silly Question about bluetooth icon

Hello,
My bluetooth icon in the menu bar keeps flashing. I haven't changed my settings and I do not have file sharing on etc. I think I pretty much have a stand alone machine with no outside access granted. Any clue or do I need to get one :>}

• Question about Menu icons

1) I trashed an application that has Icons on my upper Menu bar next to the clock. The app is gone but the Icons remain. I can't move them off the Menu bar and a right-click doesn't do anything. How do I get rid of those Icons?

What application was it for? A lot of applications that show up in the Menu bar are actually loaded when you login. In this case, some of what the application did when it set itself up may still be running.
System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items
Is there any reference to the trashed program there?

• A question about fx:icon and fx:splash

In JavaFX Ant fx:deploy element, there are fx:icon and fx:splash nested elements. What they are designed for? I cannot see there is some effect on .jar or .jnlp or .html embedded.
To have a splash for .jar, it is sufficient to provide a splash image in MANIFEST file and hide it in java code when the main window appears.
To have a splash for .html, it is sufficient to call onGetSplash by fx:callback to customize a splash.
To customize the splash in jnlp, I have no idea. Maybe it is related to fx:splash.
And also the use of fx:icon is what?
Thanks~

fx:splash
fx:splash does nothing, it doesn't work (JavaFX 2.x) . . .
See RT-29066 "fx:splash has no effect"
https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-29066
RT-29066 is scheduled to be fixed for Java 8, it's currently open, so it's not fixed yet.
If the splash worked, it would work as defined here for web start:
Changing the Java Web Start Splash Screen
It is kind of a weird implementation for Web Start, it shows the standard Java splash the first time you run the application, then your customized splash on subsequent times (which is an awful user experience IMO).
Maybe fx:splash (if it worked and did anything at all) would also specify the java -splash startup parameter for a self-contained app, similar to as described here:
How to Create a Splash Screen (The Java™ Tutorials > Creating a GUI With JFC/Swing &…
The java -splash startup parameter is actually the quickest way to get a splash to display when starting up your app (it's even faster at displaying than a JavaFX preloader).
But fx:splash doesn't do anything at all, so the above is just hypothetical of what it might do if it did anything.
fx:icon
My guess is fx:icon is supposed to be for application desktop icons (I've never tried it, so I don't know if, like fx:splash, it does not work or do anything).
There is no specific jira that says fx:icon does not work in all cases (only native bundle ones), so if it doesn't work in other cases that you expect please log an issue at https://javafx-jira.kenai.com.
There are jiras which mention that fx:icon does not always work for native bundled apps (but they are fixed for an upcoming release - 2.2.40).
RT-27029 "FX Native bundler seems to ignore <fx:icon> passed to <fx:deploy> Ant task (although it does appear in the generated jnlp)"
https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-27029
You can get native icons to work for native bundled apps by encoding the icons in very specific sizes and formats with specific names and placing then at specific locations in your source directory structure so that the native bundle packaging software picks the icons up - but that is independent of any fx:icon setting for me.
I would be entirely unsurprised if fx:icon did not work for webstart.
A description of what fx:icon is probably supposed to do for webstart is in the JNLP tag reference:
JNLP Tag Reference
Describes an icon/image that represents the application. Web Start uses the icons during startup in the download progress popup, for desktop shortcuts and in the Web Start application manager. 64x64 icons are shown in the download progress popup and 32x32 icons are used for desktop icons and in the Web Start app manager. Web Start automatically resizes icons with other dimensions.
Attributes
href=url , required
Contains a URL to a web location containing an image or an icon. Only JPEG and GIF graphic formats are supported.
version=version , optional
Specifies the version of the image.
width=pixels , optional
Describes the width of the icon in pixels.
height=pixels , optional
Describes the height of the icon in pixels.
kind=default|selected|disabled|rollover, optional
Describes the use of the icon. Default value is default.
depth=number , optional
Describes the color depth of the image in bits-per-pixel. Common values are 8, 16, or 24.
size=bytes , optional
Specifies the size of the image in bytes.
The JNLP tag reference seems to have more info in it's icon tag than the JavaFX fx:icon does, so I don't know how the two would relate (if indeed they do at all).

• Question about JButton icons

I'm displaying a panel with three JButtons in one row, each of them displaying an icon. Each has an action listener registered to it. I want to change the icon when the button is pushed to reflect a different status. I remove the button from the panel, replace it with the new icon, then redisplay it. The problem is, the new button is added to the panel at the end of the row, and the remaining buttons are moved over. Is there any way I can just replace the old icon with the new one and redisplay the button without removing it from the panel and replacing it? It is important that I preserve the sequence in which the buttons are displayed.

4merSnake wrote:
If I do the "remove" and use the offset as you demonstrated, it works. If I just use the offset, it actually adds another button to the panel. The old one has to be removed first.
Unless there's an easier way ...Again, there is: just swap icons. Here is an SSCCE to illustrate what I am proposing. This small app creates an array of 8 ImageIcons and swaps a buttons icon on press of a button. It is currently set up for 8 small images named image00.jpg to image07.jpg located at IMAGE_PATH = "src/dy08/m02/a/images/"; Just copy this program, paste it, have an a couple of same-sized and named images available, change the program's constants accordingly, and run.

• IP question: Aggregation Level picture icon color?

We are pretty new on IP (Integrated Planning). You know that the picture icon of Aggregation Level look like a two step stair. When we check our BI 7.0 system, find for some aggregation levels, both the steps are white color, while for others, the top step is white color and the bottom step is blue color which looks like a small cube shape. What are the difference? The one with bottom step being the blue color means this aggregation level is activated and the one with both steps being white colors means they are inactivated?
Another question, as what we know, in order to do planning, the Cube must be real-time cube other than standard InfoCube in the setting of the cube, right? In our system, we find the aggregation is built on a Multi-Provider and underlying the Multi-Provider, there are about 6 cubes. But when we check all the 6 cubes, find the settings for these cubes are all set to Standard InfoCube. That means with the aggregation level built upon this multi-provider, users can't do any planning, right?
We will give you reward points!

Hi Kevin,
You can build a simple aggregation Level on a real time cube.
Aslo we can build AGgregation levels on Multi providers ( which must contain atleast one real time Cube) . These kind of aggregation levels are called as Complex Aggregation levels.
Also regd the Aggregation level Colours , your understanding is right.

Search for Aggregation level and you would get more details .
Hope this clarifies.

• Video sound and picture on tv.. question about burning to DVD

Hi
I finally got the picture to show up on the TV. I went into video, settings and turned on the TV out setting. Now I wonder if I can burn the itunes shows I bought onto a dvd?
Will this be a backup copy incase my computer dies or will I be able to watch this on a dvd player too?
Anyone know if I should put the shows on a dvd and if I can watch them on my dvd player then?
Thanks
