Question about points earned on gaming consoles

I am confused about how the gamer's club unlocked works.  The Best Buy site says that my Best Buy members get 1 point per dollar spent.  The Gamer's Club Unlocked details says you get points on gaming consoles.
I purchased an Xbox One Assassin's Creed bundle for $299.99 on 11/8/14 and 299 points are pending in my My Best Buy account.  That doesn't seem to me like I am getting any points for the console purchase; it seems like I am only getting points for the dollar amount spent in the store.  If this is the case, why even mention that the Gamer's Club Unlocked membership gives you points on gaming consoles?
I purchased a cell phone and received the Gamer's Club Unlocked membership on 11/8/14.  I was told the membership was effective immediately.  This seems to be the case, since I received the 10% bonus discount when I traded in a video game during the same visit.  I purchased the Xbox One Assassin's Creed Video game bundle with a free Xbox live gold membership on 11/8/14 during the same store visit.  I actually made three transactions: one to buy the phone/gamer's club unlocked membership, one to trade in the video game, and one to buy the xbox one console bundle.  The cell phone/gamer's club membership transaction happened first.
Should I have received additional points for buying a gaming console?

Hi kre1997,
Regrettably, no -- Gamers' Club members do not earn any additional points for video game consoles. My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members still receive their respective bonus points for these items though, as do My Best Buy Credit Card holders for purchasing them using their card. For more information though I'd encourage you to check out the two pages:

  • Question about X-FI I/O Console Upgrade

    Hey i have a question in a few months i will be purchasing a set of Logitech Z 5500 speakers and i am confused about getting them to play digital sound. Do i need to buy a X-Fi console Upgrade kit ?
    just to get digital sound i know i need a coax cable but all this talk is confusing to me, sorry if i this post made your head hurt.
    Thanks In Advance
    TVS.

    I have the same setup and didn't realize that I'd need an upgrade. You don't need the console Upgrade Kit. I don't know why this isn't listed as an accessory, but you can go with the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module? to get you the Coax and Optical Digital sound.
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...55&product=780?I found that Amazon.com had the best price. BTW, Optical Digital is a better choice and since you have the ability to use either and you need to buy a cable anyway, might as well buy the cable from Amazon and get free shipping.

  • Question about points and using gift card

    I have two recent transactions that are not receiving points.
    The first one on 10/24 for two iPads.  With this purchase I did use two gift cards as part of the payment but the two gift cards only covered part of the payment.  It is my understanding I do not receive points when using a gift card but wouldn't I still get credit for the remaining balance I paid that the gift card didn't cover?
    Simlar situation seems to be happening with a Xbox purchase on 11/7.
    Like I said I understand not getting points for what was used for the giftcard but thought I should get points for the remaining balance.
    Example if I used a $10 gift card to help pay for a $1,000 purchase, I don't get credit for the remaining $990 in reward points?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Bulletpig,
    If the remaining portion of a purchase is considered eligible, then points should be awarded.  After using the email address you registered with the forum to review your account, I believe that I can explain why you did not receive points for the portions that were not paid for with a gift card.  It appears that you used your Best Buy credit card and applied those portions to promotional financing offers, which are not eligible for points.
    While those purchases should count towards reaching Elite and Elite Plus status, they would not qualify for points.  I would like to go over your account with you to ensure it is up-to-date and to see if there are any other questions I can help answer, so I will be sending you a private message.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the little yellow envelope at the top of the page.

  • Question about point curve

    At the bottom of the tone curve section in the develop module is the point curve. There are three choices. It's pretty self explanetory what medium and strong contrast do, but what does linear do and are there images when it would be better used? I know I can just look at it to see what difference in looks are, but I'm curious what's happening when that option is chosen. Thanks

    I realize that to those of you who know it all, my question may seem stupid. I DID look at it and see only a slight change from when I import. If someone who's not so smart could answer my question-it might require actually reading my first post though-what is happening when that option is chosen. Thanks

  • Question about Macbook Pro 15' gaming slowdown

    I purchased this mid 2010 MBP 15 last year but didnt game much on it. Just recently I installed Battlefield bad company2 via bootcamp and also overclocked the GPU a bit. The MBP has handled it quite well with 60ish fps in low settings.The problem is now all of a sudden the fps drops to 35 on average and its basically not playable. I've resetted the clock rate back to factory setting and tried fan control to 6000RPM but still no help. Is this driver related issue/overclocking problem/overheating/ or do I need to reinstall my win 7 os? or its just that GT330m can't do the job? Thanks in advance!

    I think your graphics card can't handle what your trying to throw at it.

  • Question about Tritton AX 720 Dolby Digital Surround Gaming Headset

    Hello, I have a question about the AX 720 that I hope someone can answer. I emailed Tritton and I'm not sure they understood what I was asking, so Ill try here. Ok, my question is this, Will I get audio through the headset if my set up is this: My X-BOX 360, my PS3 , and my Direct TV box are all hooked up to my TV via HDMI. My TV has an optical audio output, so if I hook up the AX 720's amp to my TV with the optical cable will I get the audio that is coming from that output into my headset? I'm using the Tritton AX 180's now hooked up almost exactly the same, except instead of the optical out, I'm using the red and white out that is right next to the optical out, and it works perfect. I get full audio from all 3, and the only time I have to change any cables is when I want to chat, but thats rare. I'm looking to upgrade to the 720 because I'm on my 3rd set of broken AX 180's. Ive read several reviews about the 720's and a few of them said that if your TV has an optical output that you can use that, and I hope its true. I hope this question makes sense, and thanks in advance for the help.

    @Rockadile: You are totally right about the AX 180's breaking, like I said Im on my 3rd set. Thankfully for the first break it was within the return period, then I made sure to buy the warranty when I got the second. Now that the 3rd has broken in the same exact place Im done with these. The problem is my heads big (wide), and because of this theres extra pressure on the plastic piece that connects to the ear piece. I had to make a custom metal bracket to fix it. What I did was take 2 pieces of flat metal and bent them into the shape and angle of the plastic that attaches the earpiece, then I electrical taped them VERY tight. So basically instead of the plastic getting the stress, the metal does. And it worked great up until now, its breaking just below the adjustable part where the plastic goes into top of the headset. I looked at the AX 720's and it seems like there alot wider and stronger in that area. But if I do get them I will be sure to buy the replacement warranty. Sucks having a big head!

  • Extending Network and Gaming Consoles

    I have a airport extreme set up in my office. Downstairs I have 4 gaming consoles, which require fast internet speeds other wise it effects game play. The signal where 2 of my consoles are do not get great reception. So I know I can use an airport express, plug it in where I get reception downstairs and have it extend the range of my network.
    However, I have 2 questions about this:
    1) I have my extreme set up for N and my gaming consoles are G. The extreme is backwards compatible, but will the same hold true if I add an Express to the network? Will my G consoles still work?
    2) In my head I think this would slow down the speed. I would think my console would have to go through an express, then the express sends up to my extreme, then finally out to the internet. Would adding an express slow the connection at all because now it has one extra point it travels through?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    1) I have my extreme set up for N and my gaming consoles are G. The extreme is backwards compatible, but will the same hold true if I add an Express to the network? Will my G consoles still work?
    The 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can be added to your network configuration to extend the wireless range of the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). If you configure the overall extended network for the "802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)" radio mode, your "g" game consoles should be able to connect.
    2) In my head I think this would slow down the speed. I would think my console would have to go through an express, then the express sends up to my extreme, then finally out to the internet. Would adding an express slow the connection at all because now it has one extra point it travels through?
    The bottom line ... yes, extending the network and support for "g" clients will reduce the overall bandwidth available for the wireless network. If bandwidth performance is critical, you may want to consider switching to an all Ethernet-based solution.

  • Questions about Audigy 2 ZS connecti

    Hello,
    New to these forums, so bear with me. I'm considering purchasing an Audigy 2 ZS gamer card, and have some questions about the card and speaker setup. I've read the FAQ's in the forum, and they have been a big help, but I still have questions related specifically to my setup. Here's the system specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    Asus K8V SE Deluxe
    VisionTek Radeon X800 XT PE
    Seagate 250 gig SATA HDD
    gig Crucial ram
    Antec P80 case
    Antec TruePower 430 ps
    Altec Lansing ADA885 digital speakers (awesome sound)
    Altec Lansing headset (cheap but works for voice and gaming)
    ADI AD980 onboard sound
    Windows XP Home
    . I currently am able to run both the speakers and headset at the same time by using the front panel audio outlets on the case (helps with the immersion in IL2 946). I would like to continue doing this(using front panel audio) with the new card. I've found several places that have an adapter cable for sale, http://www.x-tap.com/
    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=2700
    http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=ww_english_add,U={B8F6030-DA4F-D3-94F4-00500463020E},Company={CEAE26D-879-4C00-AC9F-03BC258F7B70},d=3025443648,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com,case=5764
    The plug that I have has only 3 separators, not 4. Will this work with the Audigy 2? I don't have a link for this plug, unfortunately.
    4. I had been considering purchasing? a set of USB headphones, but I've been told that when you plug them in, the sound is cut off for the speakers. If there was a workaround for this, I might consider getting them. Then I wouldn't have to use the front panel audio or the connections on the card.
    5. I've heard of an issue with this particular set of speakers and the Audigy 2 card, particularly that the speakers were originally designed for a Dell system, and the wiring was phased differently than in other systems. Is this something to be concerned with, and if so, is there a workaround?
    I like to research a particular product before I buy it, in order to make an informed decision and avoid problems if possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't
    Thanks in advance for the help.

    The inputs are easy to find and select:?
    Right-click the Mixer icon on the taskbar and select "Playback Devices".<
    There should open a new Window with the options of "Speakers" and "SPDIF"<
    With Speakers highlighted click the?"Properties" button on the lower?right corner<
    Go to the 4th tab (I believe it is "volume" in english, "Pegel" in german)<
    There you have your inputs!<
    Unmute Line-In and set its volume according to your desires.<
    Also remember that software designed for XP, that should control the Line-IN settings, (ie. Hauppauge WinTV or Dscaler) will be unable to do so in Vista, do to the architecture change. You can however enable "Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP2" for these applications (right-click on their executable) and restore control of the inputs directly from the program. (You should however unmute it first as explained above). PS:? All Creative Software that came on the CD is incompatible to Vista. Only the included Audio Console should work as expected.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 05-07-200707:3 PM

    what is the use of points earned in apple support communities??

    This solved my questionRe: How the heck do you get points on your apple support communities account?
    Jul 12, 2013 10:20 PM (in response to BMPU)
    To get points, you have to answer questions. If the user that created the post tested your solution and it worked, he/she (may) give you a "This solved my question". As you can see in the right part of this page, a solved question adds 10 points to your account. If you helped solve the problem, you receive 5 points. On a single thread, the original poster can only give 1 "This solved my question" and 2 "This helped me", so you can receive a total of 20 points.
    With these points, there are levels that you can see in this page > https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/reputation.html When you level up, you receive privileges like report posts, access to Community Calls... The most important level respecting to privileges is the level 6, that gives you access to a special forum called "The Lounge" (where you can talk about anything you want, complain about an user or report problems with the forum), and you also receive gifts from Apple and other privileges

  • Basic questions about programing for J9 VM

    I need to create a java application to run on a Pocket PC 2003 OS and I'm limited to using IBM's Websphere J9 Virtual Machine. I'm new to using java in this capacity and therefore have lots of questions which I'm guessing are pretty basic. Despite my best efforts, I've found very little to help me online. Below are a couple questions I have that I'm hoping someone can help me with. Even better, if you know of any resources that could help me with these and other questions, I'd love to have them. Thanks in advance.
    1. I'm using standard AWT for the GUI but I'm having problems getting frames, dialogs, etc., to come up in anything less then full screen. setSize() and resize() have no effect, even if I extend the frame and override the setMinimumSize, setPreferredSize, setMaximumSize methods. What do I need to do to get a child window to appear in something less than full screen?
    2. I'd like to be able to add menu's to the buttom toolbar (with the keyboard) but have no idea how I would add something to it. Can someone point me in the right direction?
    3. When my application gets an iconified event I go ahead and call a System.exit() to exit the application. This doesn't kill the java VM though, which continues to run in the background (taking up plenty of memory). If I run my application using the J9w.exe so that it runs without the console, then not only does the VM continue to run, but I have no way to stop it (the running program list can't see it). Since each time I run my application it starts a new VM, it only takes a couple of times before I'm out of memory and have to do a soft reset of the PDA to make things right. Can I kill the VM when I kill my application?
    4. I learn best by looking at example code, but have been unable to find any code people are running on J9. I have the GolfScoreTracker installed and running on my PDA, but the jar file contains only the classes. Since it's supposed to be a demo, I had hoped that the source code would be included, is that hoping too much or is the source code available somewhere? In addition, if you know of any applications out there with available source code that are known to run well on a PocketPC J9 environment I'd appreciate the link.

    Hi there, I saw your questions, im currently developing a java pocket pc application as well and here's what i go so far:
    AWT seem to be hard to use on pocket pc, instead i recommend that you use SWT, which is a technology developed by eclipse. It's already installed on the eclipse plugins, you just need to download the jar and dll files for the pocket pc. They are available at: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index.php
    I assume that you already have the J9 working on your device. So you only need to copy the SWT.jar file and the swt-win32-3064.dll to the folder containing the .class files on your device.
    Now, on your java IDE(im using eclipse) Add the SWT.jar library to your project which should be on C:/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.swt.win32_3.0.2/ws/win32/swt.jar or something like taht depending on your eclipse root.
    Now you are ready to code some SWT, here is a sample program from Carolyn MacLeod, i modified a few things so it could run on the pocket pc but it's almost the same. Once you coded in eclipse run it, then copy the class file from your desktop to your device(There should be like 4 or 5 classes like sample.class, sample$1.class etc. copy all of them) where you put the jar and dll files(If program does not run you may try to rename the dll file for swt-win32-3050.dll instead of 3064.dll). Now after you have everything set up you need to create the lnk file in order to run the program. On your desktop create a new textfile and write the following on it:
    255#"\Archivos de Programa\J9\PPRO10\bin\j9w.exe" "-jcl:PPRO10" "-cp" "\My
    Documents\Java\swt.jar" ;\My Documents\Java" sample
    Paths depend on your install, and the place where you put your classes and jar file. path for j9w is usually "\Program Files\J9\PPRO10\bin\j9w.exe", and the last word should be the classname.
    Currently this form only displays an image on a canvas, click on the browse button and choose a pic and it will display on the canvas. Im trying to connect the form to an oracle database but no success yet on the device.
    Hope it helps, if you have any questions about the code or something, and I know the answer, please feel free to ask.
    See ya

  • Some questions about building  a plug in

    Hello,
    1.I'm trying to build a plug in ( for EM12c release 2 ) for my standalone java application - which exposes mbeans whom i want to collect some metrics with.
    It's been a while since i started to build it - and I asked quite a lot of quesions about it - because the documnets supplied with the EDK and
    the books ( ProgrammersGuide, ProgrammersReferece and the README file ) are not very clear to me ( I'm a newbie with EM in general .. )
    So far some of the questions got answered and were very halpfull with this long process. BUT, there are some questions that nobody answered yet.
    I'm quite "stuck" with it. I'm talking about the questions in : Re: A question about updating metadata files in plug in
    I have a deadline for this plug in ( which is very close ..) so this the reason I post this new message.
    I will appriciate any help about those questions .
    2. Regarding the above, ( hoping to have an answered soon ..) I'm trying another way to buils this plug in:
    In the README file there is this section( 3.6 : using MPCUI ) . I read the programmersReference ( chapter 8 ) and followed the instructions both in the README file and the ProgrammersReference .
    For a begining, I just wanted to modify a small thing in the example supplied ( Demo Host System ) just to get started with something .
    So i modify the file which contains the label ' Select member ... ' ( i don't remember the name of the file since the project is in my office , and I can't copy/paste ..- I think the the file icontians the name ' ConfirmationTarget .xml - it's one of the pages seen while adding a target ) .
    I i changed it , i build the project ( using FlexBuilder) but did not use ANT as it's says in the README - the eclipse IDE build this file automatically
    ( HostSystem.swf  in bin-debug dir as it says in the README ) . I copied this file to stage_dir/oms/metadata/mpcui .
    i build a new plug in ( i incremented the version of it ) - no errors, everty thing was fine .I also copied this file to the oms server ( it wasn't there before )
    and than run the commad ' emctl register oms ...' as it says in section 3.6 - and o got 'Success' eventually .
    Now, when i opened the EM console , hoping to see tge change i made ( again , it's just a change of the title of the step while adding the target , and adding another menuitem to the 3 item that were alreay there ( CPU, FS, etc ) .
    I believe wad i did is right- i mean changing in the right file and place ( there is no title like like this in any oter source file in the whole project )
    but still, I didn't see any change! it seems execatly as it was befoer the change ..
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

    Regarding your question #2. Please read my response here carefully as it covers a number of different issues.
    1. Ant is not required to build the SWF file in your plug-in. It is an OPTION. Section 8.27 describes the different development options using either Ant or FlexBuilder.
    2. You do NOT need to ever copy a SWF file to any location under the OMS runtime. You need to include it in the stage area and then either build an OPAR or use emctl to incrementally update the deployed plug-in. It has to either be deployed as part of the plug-in deployment or updated incrementally using emctl register oms metadata. Section 8.27.2.6 describes the specific steps to do this incremental update.
    Steps to update the SWF associated with demo_hostsample. These are covered in the README and in chapter 8.
    1. deploy the demo_hostsample plug-in as described in the README
    2. create an instance of the Host Sample target type through manually discovery (Add Targets->Add Non-Host Target Specifying Properties)
    3. using the demo_hostsample.zip project in Flex Builder, modify some part of the code, for example, modify the line containing label="Current Status" to label="My New Label"
    4. rebuild the SWF, to be sure you can to a Clean build of the demo_hostsample project
    5. ensure there is an updated copy of the HostSample.swf under demo_hostsample\mpcui\bin-debug (NOT bin-release, unless you Exported A Release Build)
    6. copy that updated HostSample.swf file to the location on the OMS machine where you unzipped and built the OPAR for the demo_hostsample plug-in
    7. cd to the stage/oms/metadata/mpcui directory and replace the current HostSample.swf with the one you just built (BE SURE ITS THE UPDATED FILE)
    8. execute the command "emctl register oms metadata -sysman_pwd sysman -pluginId oracle.sysman.ohs -service mpcui -file demo_hostsample_uimd_swf.xml (BE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT sysman_pwd)
    At this point you should be able to go to the homepage for the Host Sample target you created and see the changes.

  • Questions about a MasterQuize program

    Hi, everyone.
    I got a in-class case study program like this in the class:
    * This class stores/represents a question that has one of two
    * answers: True or False.
    * <p></p>
    * It needs to track the following information:
    * <ul>
    * <li>Question text</li>
    * <li>Correct answer</li>
    * <li>The user's answer to the question</li>
    * <li>Points value</li>
    * <li>Category</li>
    * <li>Difficulty rating</li>
    * </ul>
    // Our question should allow us to do the following:
    // - Create question (constructor) -- may be overloaded
    // - Print (display) question
    // - Check client's answer for correctness
    // - Get points value for question (0 or max)
    //   - Add "No-BS" grading option
    // - Getting client's answer
    // - Check to see if answered by client

    In the TrueFalseQeustion class, why are there so many constructors? What is the purpose of setting some of the variables to default values?
    Thank you very much!!!

    } I don't understand why the assignment wants me to build a method in the MultpleChoiceQuestion class to store the potential answer choices, I can make the program display the potential answer choices by including them in the questionText as following in the QuizDriver class
    Question x;
    x = new MultipleChoiceQuestion("What is the color of the car\na.Red\nb.Green", "a. Red", 3);
    t.addQuestion(x); I don't know how to allow the client to construct the list of answer choices one at a time(add one potential answer choice by calling the addAsnwerChoices() method once)
    Here are a few original sentences of my assignment which describe what I should do with the MultipleChoiceQuestion class
    Using TrueFalseQuestion as a model, develop a new MultipleChoiceQuestion class that can be used to represent a problem where the user must select one of several answer choices (e.g., "Select answer (a), (b), (c), or (d)."). This new question type should have all of the same externally-visible functionality as TrueFalseQuestion, except that it must:
    maintain a list of potential answer choices
    provide a method that allows the client to construct the list of answer choices one at a time (i.e., the client should be able to call an addAnswerChoice() method to pass a new answer option to the MultipleChoiceQuestion.)
    display (as part of the question text) the list of answer choices with appropriate letters ("abcd" instead of "0123") I don't understand what these sentences mean.
    1. "Maintain a list of potential answer choices"-- this reminds me of the getPossibleAnswerChoice() method in the TrueFalseQuestion class
    public String[] getPossibleAnswerChoice ()
            String[] possibleAnswerChoice = {"true", "false"};
            return possibleAnswerChoice;
        }I wonder that if the potential answer choices I have to store in the MultipleChoiceQuestion class are only letters "a", "b", "c", "d", etc, or include the answer text coming after the letters(eg. a.Red, b.Green)
    2. "provide a method that allows the client to construct the list of answer choices one at a time". How do I achieve the functionality "one at a time"? Do I need to pass the input of the client (a potential answer choice) to the variable of the method which stores the list of potential answers?
    3. "display (as part of the question text) the list of answer choices with appropriate letters". My question here is that: When the client type in one possible answer, should I append it to the variable questionText? (So I use the questionText variable in the methods of the first and second steps)
    Thank you very much for your nice help!
