Question about Power adapter (sorry if this is in wrong topic)

Are the power adapters that are sold in the store 110 V or 110-240 V.

They are actually 100 to 240 volts in range.

  • Quick question about power adapter

    Is it okay to leave the power adapter on for a long period of time? would it mess with the battery if its on power adapter for long? or once the battery is charged does the computer use the adapter or battery(which keeps charging)?
    Its just that i want to leave my macbook on all night...waiting for an important email.
    Thanks

    It's not a problem. It won't affect your battery at all. I leave mine plugged in all the time using it for hours at a time sometimes. You'll be ok.
    Hope the email comes so you can get some sleep!

  • Question about RFC adapter

    Hi,
    There is this little concept about RFC adapter
    I would like a liitle clarifiaction about..
    Here it goes..
    Let's just say I have made an RFC in R/3.
    The same I have imported In xi.
    now when we say RFC ...By definition
    it is a remote enabled function module.
    We import the "interface" of the Same in Xi
    So if I make changes in the BODY of the RFC in
    R/3... do i need to reimport it in XI.
    Besides when XI's reciver RFC adapter is using the
    Rfc's interface to make changes in R/3
    is it using a Copy of this RFC created in R/3
    I would like to intercep at the point it's doing so...
    tried putting a break point in the body of rfc.
    Another question is regarding RFC sender adapter
    Program ID..tcp Ip protocol.
    Conceptually How does this connectivity takes place
    I tried and it worked ...
    I dunno How to explain this connectivity taking place
    just on the basis of PROGRAM ID...
    Kindly Help

    Hi Deepak,

    Yes you have to.
    >>Another question is regarding RFC sender adapter.Program ID..tcp Ip protocol.Conceptually How does this connectivity takes place I tried and it worked ...I dunno How to explain this connectivity taking place just on the basis of PROGRAM ID...
    ·An RFC server program registers itself under a program ID to an SAP gateway (not for a specific SAP system).
    ·If an RFC call is passed on from any SAP system to this SAP gateway with the option “Connection with a registered program” (with the same program ID), the connection takes place with the corresponding JCo server program.

  • Question about "Power On Start Test"

    Hi... I have owned TWO MacBook Pro's, one built back in 2006 and a newer one built in 2009 (both 17 inch)... On either one of them, on say about every 20th or so "pressing of the power key" to start the machine, rather than hearing the mac startup chime and see the screen light up within a few seconds, instead there is no chime and the screen stays black for a long time, maybe up to 30 seconds... Then the chime sounds and the screen comes to life.
    If it's quiet in the room when this event (or non-event) happens I can usually hear the quiet sounds you hear when the machine is starting, a bit of clicking and perhaps the sound of the hard drive starting up (??, never been sure what those sounds are other than to say they are "normal"). But you don't hear the chime and nor does the screen light up until some time significantly later...
    It's been my belief though not my knowledge that when this happens, again maybe one in every 20 or so starts, that it is the Power on Start Test that is, for some reason, not completing quickly but instead taking some time for whatever reason... If I'm patient, eventually, like in maybe up to 30 seconds, I then hear the chime and away it goes...
    Again, this occurs on not one but two different MacBook Pro's and it's done it on both of them at what I would guess would be this same 5% rate since both were new... And over all versions of operating systems that those two machines have seen... So it does NOT appear to be anything tied to something faulty in the individual computer unless I just go so unlucky as to buy two machines 3 years apart that both came with the same problem (unlikely)... I also have an older G4 desktop at home and I have a G5 desktop at work... I've never noticed this on either of those machines so this would perhaps appear to be laptop related????
    But as I peruse around and look for other folks who describe such an issue, I don't find much... So, I decided to post this question...
    Can anyone offer insight into what might be going on??? Is it a problem??? Might it be hardware, software, what??? Any feedback would be much appreciated...
    thanks... bob..

  • Gnome-java Widget question (sorry if this is the wrong section)

    I have created three files, yes i know naming conventions and spelling is an issue, but bare with me. I plan to clean all this up as soon as I get this issue figured out. right now I am flinging mud like a howler monkey.
    File One is a test file that calls everything together:
    package test_window_creation;
    import org.gnome.gtk.*;
    import window_creation.*;
    * @author adam
    public class Create_Window_test1
          * @param args
         public static void main(String[] args)
              Gtk.init(args);
              new Create_Window();
              Gtk.main();
    }File Two is the Create_Window Class
    package window_creation;
    import org.gnome.gtk.*;
    * Very simple class to create the window construct.
    * @author adam
    * @since version 1.0.0

              Navagation n = new Navagation();
              window = new Window();
              window.add(n.Navagation_Bar());
              //add window components here
              window.setDefaultSize(800, 600);
              window.showAll();
    }and finally File three is the Navagation (menu) class that has a private method that contains all the core componets of a menu bar, while the public method Navagation_Bar() is used to tie all those into one.
    package window_creation;
    import org.gnome.gtk.Gtk;
    import org.gnome.gtk.Label;
    import org.gnome.gtk.Menu;

    import org.gnome.gtk.SeparatorMenuItem;
    import org.gnome.gtk.Widget;
    * This Class is used with {@link Create_Window} to add a menu to the window.
    * This Class also hold basic information about each method involved.
    * This class contains File, View and Edit menus.
    * @author adam
    * @since version 1.0.0
    public class Navagation

              close = new MenuItem("close");
              fileMenu.append(save);
              fileMenu.append(new SeparatorMenuItem());
              fileMenu.append(close);
              editMenu.append(copy);
              editMenu.append(paste);
              viewMenu.append(help);
              //close will close the window.
              close.connect(new MenuItem.Activate()
                   @Override
                   public void onActivate(MenuItem source)
                        Gtk.mainQuit();
              //Help Should display a label right now until I can show a window
              help.connect(new MenuItem.Activate()
                   @Override
                   public void onActivate(MenuItem arg0)
                        label.setLabel("This is the sample help. replace this with a window.");
              return label;
         public Widget Navagation_Bar()
              final MenuBar bar;
              bar = new MenuBar();
              bar.append(Navagation());
              return bar;
    }Now from what I understand everything has to be a widget in order to be used or added or append to other methods, classes and so on. but for those familar with gnome-java for gtk+ could some one help me out? I am getting this error on run:
    Exception in thread "main" org.gnome.glib.FatalError: Gtk-CRITICAL
    gtk_menu_shell_insert: assertion `GTK_IS_MENU_ITEM (child)' failed
         at org.gnome.gtk.GtkMenuShell.gtk_menu_shell_append(Native Method)

         at window_creation.Create_Window.<init>(Create_Window.java:23)
         at test_window_creation.Create_Window_test1.main(Create_Window_test1.java:24)
    Which I know deals with the navigation bar to be precise. but what am I doing wrong to get this error thrown?

    Disclaimer: I've done no GTK programming at all.
    A naive reading of both the code and the exception stack trace suggests that Navagation.Navagation() is returning the wrong thing.
    The exception says that an assertoin that chile is a menu item failed.
    Is a Label a MenuItem?
    Unless I missed it,you are not doing anything with the menu items you create in Navagation.Navagation().

  • Question--does power adapter draw from outlet when not connected?

    Just wondering, since I'll often pull the plug from my MacBook but then not pull it out from the wall. (That combined with all the green press about energy vampires in the home...) Anyway, does my power cord, when plugged into the wall outlet but not to the MacBook, draw power continuously. Ie, in terms of energy savings, am I better off pulling it out of the wall?
    Thanks.

    Only a minimal amount depending on the design. I doubt if you would see much difference in your bill if you unplugged it. If you are worried about it use a power strip to plug it into. Then all you have to is turn the power strip off and the adapter is disconnected from the mains.
    One thing you could do is talk to your power company. mine has small meter you plug into the wall and then you adapter into this. This would allow you to see how much power s consumed by that item. They do this during a power survey of your home.

  • Hypothetical question about power adaptors

    I'm thinking about getting a Internet TV, the TV in question isnt wireless so was wondering whether its possible to have 1 powerline adapter into the hub, the other from the Vision box as normal but then buy another adaptor to plug in the TV? Would this be feasible or cause interference/slow the speed down etc?
    Cheers

    it wouldnt work, it'd be like splitting one ethernet cable and using it in two devices, its a great idea powerline adapters but very limited.
    Isn't that what routers/switches are designed to do though?
    The limit as always though is the overall throughput design of the powerline adaptors or ethernet devices.

  • Windows 2008 R2 - Question About Loopback Adapter

    Hello,
    I have the following situation:
    I have two Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with Service Pack 1.
    I use a load balancer (Radware Alteon) in DSR mode, to load balance traffic for between these servers.
    To use DSR, I have to configure a loopback adapter on each of the, with the IP address of the VIP that is configured on the load balancer.
    Everything is working ok, the adapter is recognizing the network and traffic is being loadbalanced perfectly.
    The issue starts here:
    I also configure a health check on the load balancer, so it can check the health of the server, and stop forwarding traffic to a server when it fails.
    One of the failure conditions, is when the loopback adapter fails.
    When the physical adapter fails, it is easy to recognize, because the health check, on its basic, is sent to the IP address and MAC address of the physical NIC of the server.
    When it is not responding, the server is considered as failed.
    However, to recognize a failure of the loopback adapter, the health check is being sent to the IP address of the loopback adapter (that is the VIP) and to the MAC address of the physical NIC.
    The load balancer is doing that perfectly and the health checks are passed when the loopback is up.
    However, when we simulate a loopback failure, by disabling it, the load balancer does not recognize the failure.
    Instead, we just see, in the load balancer statistics, that the server response time is very high (more than 3500000 ms) but the server is up.
    The check that we use is a simple ICMP ping request, and we are expecting an ICMP reply withing the specified configured period of time (that is, the timeout).
    We started a sniffer catpure on the switch connected to the server.
    We saw the following behavior:
    When the loopback is disabled, the server still replies to the ICMP requests, but with ICMP redirect (redirect for network)
    The ICMP redirect message is sent fromt the source IP address and MAC of the physical NIC.
    Then, another ICMP request is sent, and here is also a weird behavior:
    The request is sent from the source IP address of the load balancer and source MAC of the server, destination IP address of the loopback adapter (that is the VIP) and destination MAC of the load balancer.
    It is clear that this ICMP request is from the same "ICMP session" that was just sent, because it is being sent milliseconds after the first request and ICMP redirect reply. It is not a new health check, because a new health check will be sent after
    the interval configured (5 seconds after the first ICMP request).
    I don't know if this request is being sent from the server, which means that it spoofs a request from the load balancer by using its IP address as the source, or is it a request being sent from the load balancer, which means it spoofs a request from the server
    by using its MAC address as the source.
    My question is, if anyone saw such behavior of:
    1.) ICMP redirect from the server on Windows 2008 R2 when the loopback is disabled.
    2.) A seconds request within the same timeframe of the first request, not a part of a second health check.
    I configued the loopback adapter properly, with the weakhostsend and weakhostreceive enabled, and with forwarding enabled (using netsh).
    I tested the same topology with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2.
    On this OS, when the loopback is disabled, it just not sending an ICMP reply at all.
    Thanking in advance, Udi Dahan.

  • MSI X79A-GD45 8D overclocking 3930k question about Power Saving Features

    hi guys
    i could do the oc for my 3930k.Now i am on 4.3ghz.Here are the settings i made ;
    i didnt change the cpu multiplier left it on auto.
    EIST and Turbo features are on.I just change the multpliers of the core limits for every core.I made core limit 43 for all cores.
    Also i set the vcore offset feature to %12.5 and it made the voltage under load 1.280 which can hold system stable @ 4.3ghz.
    when cpu is idle multiplier and voltage decreasing and when the cpu is under load voltages and multipliers increase.
    thats what i want.  But;
    i tested the vcore offset as %100 the auto voltage under load increases to max 1.344.If i go for 4.8ghz probably i would need more than 1.344 on this situation what will happen?because i will need more than 1.344 but the auto voltage will give me just 1.344.How can we arrange this?
    then i tried to enter voltage manually but the voltage didnt decrease even all the power saving features on.I haven't change any settings  i mentioned above for the 4.3ghz oc.I just changed the vcore voltage to manuel. Everything stayed the same like decreasing multiplier under idle and increasing multipliers under load except the voltage.It stayed the same as i gave in the bios.
    from here
    I read from somewhere that on msi boards if you put the cpu multipler manually you loose power saving features.Everytime under load or idle cpu will be stay at the same ghz.Is that true?
    if i give the cpu multiplier manuel or vcore voltage can i benefit from the power saving features like  decreasing voltages and multiplier under idle and  and incresing them under load ?
    or when i enter the cpu multiplier and voltage manually ,does the power saving features go away?

    VDroop set to 100% is all you are going to get. 1.344v's should get you about 44-46X on the cores on 'Auto'. The voltage goes down from there with the lower VDroop settings. With CPU V. set to 'Auto', you get power saving, soon as the CPU V. is taken out of 'Auto', you lose it. No, the CPU speed may lower, but the voltage going to it will not.
    VDroop is not a true offset feature like can be found on other brands of boards. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162779.0
    Most folks around the industry recognize 1.350v's as the recommended limit for socket 2011 CPU's, so 1.344v's is fairly close to that anyway.
    So when i set the voltage and the cpu multiplier i loose power saving features right?
    Thanks for the reply

    The IDOC adapter does not need a sender channel, as all information the XI needs are stored in the message itself. Sender channels are requested mostly for polling adapters like file of jdbc. HTTP-, RFC-, IDOC- and XI-adapter do not need a sender channel (see manual for further details).
    The error message seem not to be translated in your system. Here is the message text:
    "MSGGUID &1: Control record must start with tag EDI_DC40, not &2"
    So in the payload there is no control record for the IDOC.
    Check in your IDOC receiver channel, if the checkbox "Apply Control Record Values from Payload" is marked. If so, uncheck it. That should help.
