Question about push email...

Hi all,
i have a question regarding this push mail tech.
how the client will be able to receive a message from the server, without the need for client to check it by it self?
Is it true the only way to do that is to by keeping a connection between the server and the client opened? If it is, isn't that would be too much thread running on the server if there are a lot of client connected...
Or there is another way else???
TiA

My understanding is that POP3 email accounts are checked by BIS every 15 minutes and any new emails are pushed to your device. This means a message can take anywhere from 0 - 15 minutes to get to you (average 8 minutes).
What you can do is create a new blackberry email, which is not a POP3 account and is capable of true push email. Any emails set to this address will be pushed instantly. Then you can set your other email accounts to forward to this address. You should then recevie the emails within a few seconds.
The problem is this makes replying from the correct address a bit of a hassle so I've just learnt to accept the 8 minute delay.
I'm still reletively new to Blackberry so please correct me if Im wrong.

I am confused about using email when using my computer at an internet cafe.
Of course - I use the internet cafe's wifi connection/network.
How does this effect my email?
what do I have to do to use my email when logged on at an internet cafe?

You don't give enough information to do more than discuss the issue in general terms.
You should be able to read your email wherever you can get an internet connection.
To send email, it depends on the email provider you are using.  Gmail and other web based mail should not have any issues.  However, if you are attempting to use an account that uses your ISP's mail servers, you will probably not be able to send mail.  You may want to check with your ISP in that case, to see if they offer webmail.
Hope this may have answered your question.

  • Question about push notifications for apps affect on battery life?

I've noticed that after installing certain "Push Notification Enabled" apps that my iPhone's battery drains very quickly even when said apps aren't running. I've read that if an app makes extensive use of push notifications that it can drain the battery, but I haven't received any notifications from said apps. Does simply having a number of push enabled apps installed drain the battery cause faster than normal battery drain?
I don't really care about the push notifications for many push enabled apps, but I do like to have it enabled for certain ones. Would disabling notifications for all but the apps I use actually save battery life? I would think that since push messages are sent from the app owners server to Apple's push servers to the phone, that disabling notifications on the phone for an app or even deleting the app itself would not prevent the actual data from being pushed to the phone. In other words does disabling notifications (or deleting the app) actually prevent the data from being pushed to the iPhone or does it simply tell the iPhone to ignore the pushed data? The former would not increase battery life while the later would.

I've learned that it's not the number of apps that use push notification that drains the battery, but the number of apps that actively use it to send messages.
If push is turned on, the battery will drain slightly faster since the phone needs to maintain a constant 3G (or GSM) connection open, but no data is actually sent or received unless you receive a push notification.
In the case of push email, a push notification triggers the mail app to make an outbound IMAP4 connection. Depending on how often you receive email, this can decrease the battery life. If you receive lots of emails every few minutes, using 15 minute fetch will be more battery efficient. If you receive emails every few hours, push is more efficient.
For apps, it doesn't really matter since the apps can't initiate a network connection unless they are running. I'm not sure if app servers constantly sending push notifications when the notification for those apps is turned off drains the battery any faster or not. From what I've read when push notification are turned off for an app, Apple's push servers will tell that app's servers to not perform a push. In other words, Apple won't push app notifications to the phone for apps where notifications are disabled or the app isn't installed.

  • Question about hacked email

I received a "delivery failure" notice for a message that I never sent.  This delivery failure email included the sent message, so I was able to see that it had been sent to about 10 email addresses that I had most recently sent legitimate email to.  I confirmed with a few of those people that they did receive that message, although it did not appear in my Sent folder.  I would never have know about it had I not received the delivery failure notice.  The sent message was clearly SPAM aimed at getting recipients to click on a link.
I DO NOT keep a "contacts" list or an addressbook., so it seems to me that someone hacked into my account and was able to examine my "sent" emails to get a list of recipients.
I have changed my email password but am not sure what additional measures I need to take to prevent this from happening again and to ensure that my email is adequately protected.   Again, my case seems different because it does not involve "stealing" a list of contact or an addressbook.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Still possible you have a virus on your machine.  Is your Antivirus up to date, and have you done a scan?
Did you look at the headers of the spam to see if it looked like it was coming from inside verizon (or worse from your machine).
Its possible your mail was harvested at one of your recipients.  Considering using BCC  (blind CC) if you send to lots of people and don't need everyone to know who you sent the message to.

  • Question about Pushing ATT ISP Email Through Yahoo Push Account

So as I understand it, ATT doesn't allow outbound mail server access remotely (must use Edge), so a common workaround is to create a yahoo account with a subaccount equal to your ISP mail username, password, etc.
Ive done this, and it appears to work reasonably well, but can anyone tell me if it is possible to set this up so that the ISP address email is "pushed" as well as the yahoo address mail? In other words, I have to actually log into the yahoo mobile account and "check other mail" before the ISP mail shows up (versus the yahoo mail which is "pushed" to me without any manual intervention on my part).
I've got the feeling I've just got a simple configuration problem with the yahoo account, but I'm having a brain ****.
    TIA

The ability to send with an SMTP server when connected to an internet service provider via wi-fi depends on the ISP - if the SMTP server is outside of the ISP's network, or not provided by the ISP.
Most ISPs don't block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of the ISP's network as long as the SMTP server is authenticated - and the same applies when connected to the internet via at&t's EDGE network.
I access a .Mac account and a business POP account with my iPhone. Both accounts have an authenticated SMTP server, and I have no problems sending with either account regardless when connected via various wi-fi networks and different ISPs associated with each, and when connected to at&t's EDGE network.
If Yahoo allows for accessing a different email account through their incoming mail server, I don't believe they provide for Push-IMAP account access for such an account when doing so.

  • Question about same emails with others

Good afternoon, the other day I walked into
    yahoo.com, because I wondered if
I had done earlier account there.
So, when I tried to log in, I chose
that I can not remember my identity
and asked me to write the security email
I would have put in during my
    recording time. Me, I put
my mainly EMAIL, which is: [email protected]
After some time I realized that
some unknown had used my email
as security email to his account
on yahoo. Later I checked the
recent activity in my email in hotmail
and indicate places where I have not been
in any of the times I entered my
account. Finally, there are some messages
about verifying my identity to an account
of Apple, which does not come from
me. My question is whether it is possible
to have the same email with
these girls, who have the same name and
the same first letter on their surname
as me?? Thank you in advance!

  • Question about push mail via Mail2Web.

I'm assuming Mail2Web is probably the best solution for me, but correct me if I'm wrong... I currently have my own email domain and IMAP service through Bluehost.com. I use Outlook 2007. If I want mail pushed to my iPhone, but want to keep my own personal email address and sync with my Outlook Mail, Contacts and Calendar, can Mail2Web's Personal Exchange service do this for me? Also, can I add my wife's account as well, or does it allow for only 1 account? Any details on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I understood what I want but I stuck in a problem with static push-registry, it work fine on the emulator but when I install it on a real device nothing happen.
the device I use is E71 .. I want to know if anyone try push with it and he success or E71 is not supporting static push-registry.
when I install the application it dose ask me if I agree to run it automatically ..... also, I try the dynamic one and it success...
    thanks

  • Question about push notification

I am currenty on a cap plan with limited amounts of Internet. How much internet approx does push notification use? So that at least I have an idea of how much I can use mobile me.

It depends on how much email you get, the size of messages, and how often you update contacts and calendar. In general push will use less data than fetch, because fetch establishes a connection every 15 minutes (or whatever you have it set to). Push only establishes a connection when there is an update to be synced. Unless you regularly get large attachments your email usage will be pretty small, and correspond to the total size of the emails you send and receive. Web browsing and use of data-intensive applications (like Google Maps) will be the vast majority of your data usage.

  • Question about mac email attachments

    Hi,
Troubleshooting for my boss who is having trouble opening email attachments in her mac email from just one friends email account.
The attachments are xls and pdf files from a pc user who is using yahoo mail. This happened suddenly in the last week. The mac user can open other peoples attachments of the same file extensions. The mac user can also open the same blocked attachments if the files are forwarded from a different user to them. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a configuration I can change in the yahoo mail of the pc user that could have triggered the mac user to now seemingly be blocking attachments from the pc user? Several other mac and pc users can open the same email attachments from the pc user who is being blockied from my bosses mac email account. Hope this made some sense and thanks in advance for your help!

Its a Mac Pro running 10.9.4.
If it matters the pc user is running windows 7 home addition.
The problem began after the pc user accidently sent the mac user a tiff file. The mac user was unable to open that tiff file and then suddenly all other files sent by the pc user regardless of file type could not be opened by the mac user. They work together so it's imperative that they be able to send xls and pdf files back and forth. Thanks for your help.

  • Question about online email virus's

    Hey folks,
I am quite aware than Virus's programmed for Mac OS X are relatively unheard of and as a result, the need for antivirus software seems unnecessary. However, does this still count for when it comes to using email accounts online such as Hotmail?
Recently, I've noticed something fishy with my hotmail account. In my Inbox, I keep receiving 'Delivery Status Notification (Failure)' emails from [email protected]
When I go into my sent folder I will then see where it has attempted to send people junk mail from my email address.
Whats going on here?! How do I put an end to this? Is this some sort of online virus or account virus or what?
    Thanks for the help guys,
    Steve.

That's not quite accurate... they are non-existent. There are a handful of trojan horses, but those are not viruses. A virus spreads itself. A trojan horse is simply a malicious app that fools you into running it. The Mac trojan horses that currently exist are pretty easy to avoid... just don't download pirated software or install "plug-ins" recommended by dodgy web sites.
However, does this still count for when it comes to using email accounts online such as Hotmail?
If the viruses don't exist, it doesn't matter who provides your e-mail...
When I go into my sent folder I will then see where it has attempted to send people junk mail from my email address.
Perhaps your account has been hijacked and is being used to send spam. You should probably try changing your Hotmail password and any other security settings.

  • Question about push registry

hello, I'm a beginner in j2me and I'm developing an application that receive a message via socket, and I want my application to be always ready to receive the message even if it not running. I thought of static push registry put the thing I couldn't understand are:

    - when I use it how the connection be established (I mean do I have to write connecter.open()), because I use the dynamic one and by the example provided by sun I create the connection and then push it to registry ..???
    - do I need some specific code to be written on the server side ?
    - can u please give the steps of how to test static push registry ??

  • Questions about push notificaiton.

I'm playing 'we farm' game on my iphone4.
my wife played that game on her ipod touch, sometimes she used my iphone4 to play that game.
now she got her own iphone4. but 'push notification' of her ID is still popping
    up on my iphone4.
I want to know how to fix this problem.
and what does decide where 'push notification' goes?
    thanks for reading.

I haven't played this particular game, but I'm willing to bet she's somehow signed into the app, which is how the push notifications are being sent to your phone. Try singing her out on your phone and in on her phone.

  • Question About Syncing Email Deletions From Webmail

Is there a way to set up my mail account such that when I delete a message I viewed in Webmail, it will delete that message also from my email client at the same time? No.  Its the way POP works.

  • Quick question about exporting email address and their alias from Exchange 2007 mailbox

    Hi Everyone,
We have Exchange 2007 and 2013 servers. All users are still 2007 servers. I have a list of users around 179 out of 3000 in a CSV file. I would like to export those 179 users primary smtp and their aliases. Is it possible to achieve through any script?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Siva

    Hello Siva,
You don't need a script for this. Information can be obtained with simple command.
    $AllUsers = Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Select DisplayName,Alias,PrimarySMTPAddress,SamACcountName,Database,LegacyExchangeDN
    $AllUsers | Export-Csv Outputfile.csv -NoTypeInformation
Try this and let me know if it helps!
if you want PrimarySMTPAddress and alias of only those users whose information on the excel sheet, then what do you have as the column name in the excel sheet which you are using to query on the server.
Considering that you are using Alias to query the server to get the details you can try below:
    $Global:Output = @()
    $CsvData = Import-Csv Inputfile.csv
    foreach($line in $CsvData)
    {$CurrentObject = $Line.AliasWrite-Host “Processing Obect “$CurrentObject “From Csv File”
    –ForeGroundColor YELLOW$EmailIDJoin = ""$EmailAddresses = @()$UserInfo = "" | Select DisplayName,PrimarySMTPAddress,Alias,SamAccountName,Database,LegacyExchangeDN,EmailAddresses
    $UserInfo.DisplayName = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject).DisplayName
    $UserInfo.PrimarySMTPAddress = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject).PrimarySMTPAddress
    $UserInfo.Alias = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject).Alias
    $UserInfo.SamAccountName = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject).SamAccountName
    $UserInfo.Database = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject).Database
    $UserInfo.LegacyExchangeDN = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject).LegacyExchangeDN
    $EmailAddresses = (Get-Mailbox $CurrentObject)|%{$_.EmailAddresses}
    for($i=0;$i -lt $EmailAddresses.Count;$i++)
    $EmailIDJoin += $EmailAddresses[$i].ProxyAddressString
    if($i -lt $EmailAddresses.Count - 1)
    $EmailIDJoin += ','
    $UserInfo.EmailAddresses = $EmailIdJoin
    $Global:Output += $UserInfo
    #Export output to CSV File
    $Global:Output | Export-Csv GlobalOutput.csv -NoTypeInformation
