Question about returning optional software

i bought restore cds with a new laptop for 100 dollars extra, but i found out when i unboxed my new laptop that the restore cds are really nessecary, is it possible to return the cds and keep the laptop?

A majority of computers sold today have a special part of the hard drive set aside for recovery, to keep costs somewhat down. However creation of these discs is like an insurance policy.
However according to here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Help-Topics/Returning-Online-Purchases/pcmcat260800050014.c?id=pcmcat260...
Geek Squad services which have already been completed are non refundable / returnable.
However if you have a complaint about the service you had performed at a local Best Buy store, you can tell the Geek Squad about it here: http://www.geeksquad.com/contact.aspx

  • A question about the option Reset All Settings

Hello, I have a question about the reset all settings function in the IPad. I need to keep all of the installed applications on the device yet I need to remove any log in information and contacts. Is this the correct option or would the Erase All Content and Settings be what I want?

If you read the OP's request, they "need to keep all of the installed applications on the device".  Selecting "Erase All Content and Settings" will do just that, erase everything.
Faroff, you can remove accounts in Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendar ... that would remove contacts only if the contacts were synced to such an account.  If contacts were synced from iTunes, you'd have to un-sync them from iTunes by changing the sync settings.  If the contacts were just manually entered and not synced with anything, you have to delete them one by one.  However, iOS will remember past usage of a contact, so even if you remove them they may be recalled by you initiating an email or iMessage to something close to what used to be in the Contacts app.  The only way to clear that I think is to do a full erase of the iPad.
As for log-in information, go to Settings/ Safari/ Passwords & Autofill, where you can erase passwords and saved credit card info.  You can also clear cookies and data in this menu.
You might be better off doing a full erase of the iPad.  Why do you not want to remove the apps?  You can re-sync them from iTunes or re-download them if necessary.  Or did you inherit this device from someone else and you're wanting to keep their apps installed but remove their private information?

  • Misc. questions about Oracles SOA software

    Hello,
I am a computer science student at the Fachhochschule Aachen in Germany and i'm writing my master thesis about serviceoriented architectures.
Amongst other products i plan to present what oracle has to offer for SOA. But i'm missing some information, which i couldn't find at the website. I hope somebody can help me with my questions:
    1) Is it correct that you only need the Application Server and the SOA Suite for a basic SOA setup? And the SOA Suite is included in the Enterprise Edition of the Application Server?
    2) The SOA Suite contains the BPEL Process Manager. I just want to know which version of BPEL this tool supports: BPEL4WS 1.0, 1.1, WS-BPEL (2.0)?
    3) In my thesis i describe several standards that help with serviceoriented architectures. I want to check if these standards are implemented and if they are, in which product, which version and how extensively? These standards are:
    - WS-Policy, WS-Adressing
    - JBI (Java Business Integration)
    - SCA/SDO (Service Component Architecture/Service Data Objects)
    - WS-CDL (Web Service Choreography Description Language)
Are there other important (open) standards i didn't mention (other than the real basic stuff, WSDL, SOAP etc)?
    4) What tools does Oracle provide for testing the services and processes?
    5) What support does Oracle provide for new customers, that are building their first SOA?
Every help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Question about "compression option" in workbook

    Hello,
We'd' like to use the compression option in the workbook (with J#).
    I have 2 questions :
-How to set this option automatically by default for new workbooks ?
-How to set this option in mass for old workbooks ?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Best regards
    Nicolas

The note talks about "optimized storage" for a workbook, which I am assuming is the same as the "compression option" you asked about.
    And I quote:
"Solving the issue for a specific workbook:
    - Open the specific workbook in BEx Analyzer
    - Open Workbook Settings dialog
    - Check "Use Optimized Storage"
    - Click on OK Button
    - Save the workbook
Note: As the change is done in the workbook settings, it affects only that workbook.
Solving the issue for any workbook within a system:
    - Login to the BW system
    - Execute transaction RS_FRONTEND_INIT
    - Add a new Entry: ANA_USE_OPTIMIZE_STG = X
    - Save your change
Note: After applying this change, all (re-)saved workbooks will be stored with optimized BI metadata."
Looks to me like it might be helpful, but you can be the judge...

  • Question about Oracle Client Software

    Hi!
I'm going to develop a software which will access an Oracle Database somewhere on the network. This software will be developed using C++ language and will run on a Linux RedHat 7.3 machine.
Searching for APIs to connect with Oracle Database, I found OCI and OCCI, which I think will do this job. Also, in another thread in this group, I found that I have to install Oracle Client Software on the machine which will run my software. Then I came into a question: is it possible to install Oracle Client Software alone in a machine, I mean, without the entire database? If yes, how about the licenses? Do I have to have a Oracle Client License for each machine running my software or is it free for Linux?
    Thanks in advance,

Is there a different client that includes the Oracle Net software as stated in the OBE ? if so, where is it ?Before V11 Oracle used to package a "Client CD" & it appears it is no longer available.

  • Magnet destroyed my hard drive, I have many questions about my options.

Ok, so I didn't realize my air condition remote was magnetic and I set it on my computer and bam my whole computer crashed. Now when I put my install dvd to boot up from, the drive makes some weird noises and then the DVD gets booted. And before you ask, its the drive needle making a sound and not the optical drive. I have a time machine backup from a few weeks ago so all my information is saved.
So, I have insurance with state farm for accidental. If my claim goes through and apple installs the new drive, will I be able to get Lion back on my computer? I started out with snow leopard and installed lion via the app store.
If for some reason doing the claim process will take forever or they don't accept it, as easy as this sounds can I just buy a new drive on amazon for like 50 bucks. (From what I looked at) Install the new drive myself and then bootup from the snow leopard dvd I have? Then log into the app store install lion and then hook up my external hard drive and restore my laptop back to its old self??? Or is it possible I can use a Lion time machine backup in snow leopard and when its done it'll be Lion?
    Thanks!

Of course. If you have a Mid 2010 or newer MacBook Pro, you have OS X Recovery, that allows you to reinstall OS X Lion even if it's not installed in your hard disk. To start in Internet Recovery, hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting. In this mode you will be able to format the hard disk and install Lion.
If you have an older computer, you will have to install Snow Leopard and upgrade to Lion. To do it, first update to OS X 10.6.8 in  > Software Update, and then, open App Store > Purchases to download Lion.

You can do that without any problem. You can use a backup created in Lion with Snow Leopard, but it's not recommended because it's possible that Snow Leopard won't work correctly. You have to restore the backup after upgrading to Lion, or from Internet Recovery, so you won't have to install Lion

  • Question about returning an Apple product to the store...

    Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but here it goes:
Last Friday, I bought an TV in a Premium/Authorized reseller store. However, I didn't notice that I'd need a television with an HDMI, DVI, or component video input port. Unfortunately, mine only supports S-Video or composite video input port, so I'm unable to play it with colors!
Therefore, I'd like to return this opened TV. So, do you guys know what are their policies? Will they accept the return? I'm asking you this, because only tomorrow I'll have a chance to call them or visit them.
Hope you can help me here!

    Hi F Shippey,

You might want to check the Apple TV forum. I seem to remember someone reporting having luck using the Green component output connected to the composite input... but check the forum for advice.
Could you give me a link, because I've been searching for that and didn't find anything! I might want to try it, but the problem is that I don't have any component video cables, and if it doesn't work I wouldn't want to lose money...
    Thanks pal!

  • Question about returning online items...

Just to confirm, the 15-day timeframe begins when the item is delivered to the residence, correct? Not when the order is initially placed?

    Hi jbtb07,
Thank you for taking the time to connect with us on the forum.
It looks like CrystalWoW was able to answer your questions; however, let me see if there is anything else I can help add.  As CrystalWow mentioned, a "special order" product will be ordered directly from the manufacturer.  A majority of our special order products will tend to be appliances and should be marked accordingly on BestBuy.com.  If you ordered an item from one of our online Marketplace retailers, then you would want to contact them directly regarding a return or exchange.
I hope you have a wonderful day, and let us know if you have any other questions!

  • Question about returning old hubs etc. to BT

Sorry if this isn't quite the right place to post this message, but I'm not sure where else to do so.
I have a number of old BT hubs and hub phones that I want to dispose of. I'm aware that I can request kit return bags from BT but given the quite significant number of items and the effort involved in packaging them up and taking them to a post office I'd like to know whether BT would be seriously disadvantaged were I instead to take the items to my local recycling facility and put them in with other electronic items. Formally the kit belongs to BT, and although I doubt that they'd pursue me for it I wonder whether they log its return as a means of quantifying their environmental credentials.
Incidentally the reason that I have quite a lot of items is that as friends have been sent upgraded hubs etc. they have offered me their old ones as spares, and I have always accepted. It is now time for a clear-out - before I find myself appearing on 'The Hoarder Next Door'!
    TIA.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Rest assured that I will only dispose of my surplus hubs etc. in the electrical receptacle of my local council's recycling facility. I'm well aware that such items contain some very valuable non-renewable constituents, and while the quantities in any one instance are small, this adds up to rather a lot of valuable material across the deployed base, and I'd very much like it to be recovered. Indeed it was what might be considered broadly as environmental concerns that prompted my original post: had I thought that BT would do more to recycle/recover material from surplus equipment than the council would I'd have rung up and asked for as many bags as it took, irrespective of any personal inconvenience.
Of course if BT could produce a long-life hub that could be enhanced in the future purely by software updates then this would be less of an issue. There might be some technical challenges with such an approach but I suspect anyway that it might be asking a bit much for the marketing people to adopt it.

  • Question about block viewer software

    Hi,
please tell me have anybody used terlingua The Block Viewer for Oracle?
I have tried to get key to use demo of this software, but nobody replay.
    I know about bbed.
    Best regards.

If you know about BBED and how to use it, I don't think you should spend time on this product since no one is better capable than oracle itself to tell you how their blocks work and how to deal with the internal stuff. I am not sure about the views that these guys are mentioning in their pdf but I am not very convinced that I can think of spending time over this software.
Stik with BBEd and other commands from Oracle to deal and work with its internal strucutres IMO!

  • Question about Alpha option in the transfer rules for infoobject

    SDN Experts,
I know that we check the Alpha conversion for only numbers like 0,1,2. this alpha option puts zeros in fornt of numbers but what happens when we get characters words for example 'Apple' does it put zeros infornt like '00Apple'?
i will assign points, Thank you.
    Les

    Dear Les,
Alpha Conversion is used to store the input data or incoming data in the Defined Internal Format , and it at the time of displaying it displays in the User defined format..for eg ...date field..the system stores as YYYYMMDD and it gets displayed as DD.MM.YYYY ( or any specified format by the user ) , this is usually for Numbers as the length needs to be maintained when storing at the database..
and at the time of display it pads the zero's and displays...
you can also check CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_INPUT , CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_OUTPUT  function modules where XXXXX denotes a Conversion Routine..( Eg ALPHA ) ...
    Hope it helps..
    Thanks,
    Krish

  • Question about returning iPod USB Adapter...

... Recently my adapter stopped working and Apple sent me a new one. Now the one I just recieved did not come with a return shipment label as far as I can tell (it has a P/N numbers and a package ID), so what am I supposed to do in this situation? Do I create my own return label?

Well there is a receipt pull out and it does say that I should return the item back within 10 days. The label, as far as I know, isn't one of those labels that apple normally send with returnable items that you just rip off and has the return label under it. It's just two stickers with my address on it. Now has anyone ever been charged for not returning the item?

I am pretty sure I have a defective iPad 2. Can I return it for a store credit rather than for a replacement unit?

    jacko12 wrote:
It was purchased from an apple retail store, and it has been months since the purchase. This shouldn't matter (amount of time) because there is a 1 yr warranty!
    Then  you CANNOT return it.
The warranty provides a replacement unit, NOT a refund.
This would be the same for any warranty on most any product.
You can get a replacement.  You cannot get a refund.
