Question about safari status bar

Hi All,
I have a web application , mainpage contained an iframe . the Page in iframe will set data to status bar . And mainpage will scan status bar by a timer to get the update info . All the flow was controlled by JavaScript .
It works fine with IE , but for Safari , i saw the status bar was updated and the data is correct , but window.status alway be empty .
Did anyone know how to get the data ? if Safari can show the correct data in status bar , it should mean the browser contains the data , right?

BTW , the version number of my Safari is 5.0.1

Safari Status Bar, no information while loading page

This isn't new and I apologize if this has already been answered elsewhere but I looked and didn't find an obvious answer. In past versions (?) Safari's status bar at the bottom of the browser window used to show information about page loading progress while the page was attempting to load. Items like
x out of y items complete (or loaded or something like that)
used to be displayed...
Now, and for some time now, nothing... Why???
Now, there is nothing but the blue progress bar that moves left to right in the URL box while the page is loading... As long as it's moving, then I can say progress is happening... However, often the blue bar stops for quite a long time and by habit I still find myself looking down to the status bar to see what it says and it says nothing...
Again, this isn't new now but I'm just now getting curios enough to ask about it...
Am I doing something wrong or do I need to take some addtional steps to get useful information out of the status bar???

But what about when a page is loading and the blue progress bar in the URL window stalls. Anytime that happens I look down to the status bar and where it used to offer useful information, now it offers nothing. What happened to that??? Is there anyway to get info on a seemingly stalled load of a page???

Safari status bar no longer shows page load progress

Hi... Though it's been this way for a while now, perhaps since the start of whatever Safari version came along with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion ??, I've finally become curious enough to ask about the following...
In times gone by, the Safari status bar at the bottom of the page would show page loading progress... You know, the old xx out of yy items complete or something like that??? But now, nothing... Nothing at all in the Status Bar while a page is loading... Nor is there a spinning gear in the URL line to show you something is going on... Instead, all there is is the blue progress bar that slowly moves left to right across the URL box to show you what is happening... And often that blue bar stalls where it just sits for quite a while... And when that happens I never know the details of what is going on...
Do I have something set up wrong??? Or did Apple decide we don't need to know what's going on while pages attempt to load??? I sometimes quit Safari when I have a secure page log on that appears to stall and all I have as feedback is a stalled blue progress bar...
All I ever see light up in the status bar is the URL of a link I might hover over on a page... Otherwise, nothing... That doesn't seem right... Again, am I doing something wrong in the Status Bar set up or is that all the Status Bar ever shows now???? And if the latter, why would Apple have chosen to stop letting us observe page loading progress??? At least that used to tell me something was happening.. A blue progress bar that stops moving doesn't tell me anything useful...
Any thoughts or help on this would be much appreciated... thanks... bob...

What happened to the Safari status bar?

Before Lion Safari used to have a nice little piece of functionality in the Status Bar. Before I ask, let me explain what *didn't* change. Still functioning in the status bar is notification that the link you're hovering over wil open up in a new tab (or window based on your settings). See the image here

What *is not* happening anymore is this notification when you would like to open a link in a new tab (that otherwise would not) by holding down the command key. For example, you are on yahoo.com hovering over a link to an article. If you leave your mouse pointer over that link and then hold the command key down, the "in a new tab" note at the end of the URL in the status bar doesn't show up. This also worked for holding down the option key (download) and holding shift+command (in a new tab behind the current one).
I hope I am explaining this correctly, let me know if not.

Please enable guest logins and log in as Guest. Launch Safari and test. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and disable it if you wish.

Safari's and Finder's Status Bars are not transparent like as top part of Safari or Finder. You can see this when you scroll the website or your local information on a mac.

Just switching from a PC to MacBook Pro - question about Safari display

Hi,
I am sorry for such a simple question, but if anyone has a moment... we have the new 15 inch laptop, but when accessing a website, the display does not fill up the whole screen. In other words, I can still see quite a bit of the background (wallpaper?) and it just seems to me that it could fill up the screen more than it is. The website doesn't matter - Yahoo, Apple, all the sites are displaying at the same size. Is there a way to adjust this? Thanks.

Grab the title bar and drag the window to the upper left, then grab the bottom right corner of the Safari window and drag it larger.
Alternatively, click the green dot at the upper left - that's a bit different than the Windows 'maximize' in that in Mac OS X, that button enlarges the window in a content-sensitive manner (i.e. makes it large enough to display the full content of the window, within the limit of your monitor). That means that, depending on the web page, the window may fill the screen vertically, horizontally, both, or neither (it will leave space for the Dock, though).

Question about EMCTL status dbconsole

I am using Windows XP SP2 and 11gR1. I have an installation with 2 homes, db_1 is home to DBCASID and OCP11GSID, db_2 is home to ORCLSID. All are the same Oracle version, namely, 11gR1.
I have set the EM services to start manually. I initially started the service for ORCLSID then stopped it and, started the service for DBCASID which started uneventfully. The services were started and stopped using EMCTL by setting the ORACLE_SID to the proper values, in addition, since those instances are in different homes, I switched the PATH as necessary to point to their respective homes.
When I issue the commands:

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is not running.It reports the service as not running. Windows shows the service is running and in addition to that I have successfully started EM for the instance and used it to browse the state of various elements that make up the database.
As I type this, the address in IE that I am currently looking at is:

Dear 440bx - 11gR2,
I had the same problem and the enterprise manager is running. The agent is not running on your situation but the enterprise manager itself is running.
When you type emctl start dbconsole it keeps printing dots (.) and saying the dbconsole can not be started. Actually the dbconsole is started but the agent is not.
Please type;
emctl status dbconsoleHere is my output (enterprise manager is running);

Another question about altering nav bar templates

I'm currently building a site using the "modern" template in iweb. So far I've been able to do a lot of customizations, which I love, but the nav bar is driving me CRAZY!
I've read a bunch of other topics and from that I've managed to create my own text box nav bar, but it's still not 100% what I'd like. Here's what I'm looking for:
I love the modern template except the rollover colour in the nav bar being red. I'd like the colour to be dark grey when rolled over just like it is when you're visiting the current page. I made my own text bar in that way but now when I'm on a specific page, that page heading in the nav bar doesn't stay highlighted in dark grey. Is that clear? I'm not familiar with web design and the language that corresponds so if there's anything I can do to clarify, please let me know. I need to know how I can get both: nav bar rolled over in dark grey AND the current page (page being viewed) in dark grey. If anyone has any information to help, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for the help. I've already done what you suggested but it unfortunately doesn't answer what I'm looking for.
In the modern template, when you're on a specific page, that page's header in the nav bar is dark grey whereas the other tabs in the nav bar remain light grey. I don't want the tabs the change after they've been clicked, rather, I want to keep the function of the template and simply change the rollover colour. Two questions:
1. Is there are way to make a text nav bar do the same thing as the template so when I'm viewing a specific page, the page's nav bar tab remains dark grey but goes back to light grey when I'm viewing a different page?
2. Thank you for the link with the HTML snippet. I had found that link last week but couldn't find it again. I don't know how to alter HTML so while this seems like a great option, I'm wondering how it works. If I put an HTML snippet in the header, is it viewable when the website is live? Is there a way to view the source code of a page?
I apologize if these questions seem rudimentary....I'm quite new to all of this!!!

Question about ScrollPane scroll bar

Hello Everyone,
Currently I am working in Flash Professional 8. I need to
customize the scroll bar in the ScrollPane. I figured out how to
customize the graphics.
Instead of the lil grey scroll bar that you can drag I want
it to be an arrow. I made it into an arrow but there appears to be
some sort of size restriction on it and the arrow I created appears
distorted. Is there some way I can change this size restriction and
have the scroll bar be 100 pixels high if I wanted it to be?

Question about transparent scroll bar?

i have a Tree with some data in it. Verticalscrollpolicy = "ON". HorizontalScrollPolicy = "ON".
When i click on one of my branches it expands, making horizontal width greater than the horizontal size of the Tree. The horizontal scroll bar springs into action, but the vertical scroll bar is still disabled because the data hasn't expanded that far vertically yet.
However, when the vertical bar is disabled, the text overlaps the vertical scroll bar, like the bar is clear or something. I don't want this. I want the bar to be opaque, so the text never shows through it, even when the vertical scroll bar is disabled.
any ideas? thanks!

Question about "activated" status

Hi again!
Got another question regarding Applescript studio app. Most apps I notice if you close their window and the app allows itself to stay open, by double clicking the icon or clicking the dock icon it would reopen that window. But I notice that if you would close the window and "activate" the app by Expose or -tab that some apps will reopen the window and some won't...make sense? So I guess my question is how would I make the app reopen its main window that was closed if you would click it's icon, but not if it was reactived in Expose???

From some quick experiments it looks to me like "will become active" and "activated" are going to get called any time your app is activated regardless of whether it's due to command-tab or clicking the dock icon. So if you're only wanting to open an new window on a dock click I don't know how you could really use either of those and be able to tell what caused your app to be actived.
On the other hand it appears that "should open untitled" may do what you're wanting. It appears that "should open untitled" gets called if your app does not have any open windows and it gets activated by a click on the dock icon. It does not seem to get called if you switch to your app using command-tab. Nor does it get called following a dock icon click if you already have a window open.
It also does not get called if your app does have a window and you switch to it by clicking the window in Expose. Is it even possible to switch to an app through Expose if the app does not have any windows to click on?
I'm not sure what other circumstances could cause "should open untitled" to be called so you may have to experiment with it some more.

Question about safari image files in 7.1

I am running os X 10.9.5 and safari 7.1. After I upgraded to safari 7.1 I noticed that if I open an image file into a new tab it is centered in the page. Previously they have been aligned left. Is this normal? Can I change the alignment to the left? I do not like change. Thanks in advance

I had the same complaint with Safari 7.1 (MacBook Pro 2011 / OS X 10.9.5) centering images instead of left justifying.
Yet another sacrifice of functionality for appearance.
Be forewarned, this solution is beyond my working knowledge (meaning I don't know if it's reliable or even sane).
I just Googled and poked around enough to fix the image justification issue.
NOTE: this solution causes other problems (e.g. I found Apple's support site doesn't render correctly -- minor alignment issues), so choose based on which causes you less pain. The mitigating factor is that you can toggle this on and off via Safari preferences...
The actual solution is Steps 5 & 6. Steps 1 - 4 are how I got there...
So, I
used the Developer menu to Show Web Inspector
poked around the DOM Tree until I found<img style... margin: auto ...>
tried editing it to be...margin: 0px ...
and the image was instantly left justified
Googled until I found out how to override the default CSS
created and saved a 3 line .css file (I used Terminal and vi, but I assume you can use TextEdit, too). Create the file wherever you like and name it whatever you like -- you're just going to point Safari to it, later...~/Projects/CSS/Safari7.1.Override.css

configured Safari to use the new style sheet to override the default image marginSelect Safari / Preferences... menuSelect Advanced tabClick the Style sheet: combo box (default value is None Selected)Click Other... (to open the file chooser)
Navigate to, and select, the .css file you created in Step 5
Click Choose button
Images are now left justified.
To return to the default image justification (and allow other sites to render correctly), go back to Step 6.1.1.1 and click None Selected.
Hopefully, Apple will fix the default or someone who knows what they're doing will offer a real solution.
In the mean time this hack will kinda work. :-)
