Question about scanning

Hi I'm trying to scanto email or even to computer and it wont do it . It keep saying " Unable to connect to Web Services. " but I was able to do it before and now I can't get it to scan at all. Please help.
                   Thank you

Hello @Mary258 ,
Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are having a problem with the scan to email feature on your Photosmart 7520.
I would like to help.
Seems like you have two issues.
Scan to computer should not be effected by the Web Services.
It could be a network issue.
For the scan to computer try the Print and Scan Doctor.
For the scan to email try a manual DNS.
The following post by @happytohelp01 , has some good steps on how to do this.
Efax 7510 still won't work after turning off/on ePrint several times
I know its for a 7510 but the steps should be the same.
If that does not work reboot your network.
Turn the printer and the computer off.
Unplug the power cord to the router.
Wait a minute then plug the power back into the router.
Turn the printer back on.
When the blue wireless stops blinking try the scan to email.
Please let me know how things work out.

  • Question about scanned books

i have dozens of scanned books that ive downloaded from internet some of them are 250 pages long
i want to print some of in booklets and the larger ones god willing i will bind etc etc.
the problem is that two there are two scanned sheets per page, i need an option on acrobat to split the pages in half. is there a easy work around to manipulate large pdfs
(document assembly is allowed on the ebooks)

Typically you might crop all the pages for odd and print or redax to a new PDF. Repeat the crop for the other side (even), then recombine them. I think I have read about some 3rd party products that will do what you want.
In Acrobat, the recombination is the issue. It can probably be automated with JavaScript.

  • Labview novice with a question about scanning strings

Hello, I'm a research assistant tasked with taking data received via TCP-IP and plotting it. I've had a couple of problems, probably because I've never used Labview before.
The data is sent in sets of six values separated using semicolons as delimiters, for example
"0.086842;0.00020341;0.00039838;-0.14057;-0.12614;-0.1327;" is one such data set
Receiving these strings through TCP connection is working just fine, however I just noticed that after passing a string such as my example into a 'Scan String for Tokens' block, the negative signs are dropped from the latter three values. I assumed it has something with setting '-' as an operator, but simply wiring negative sign in as an operator didn't change anything. I know there has to be a way to retain my negative signs, but I can't figure it.

    Is this what you need?

  • Questions about 3702i and WSM (WSSI)

I have several questions about the 3702i AP and the WSM that do not seem to be answered in the data sheets/documentation.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    1. Is the WSM officially supported on the 3702 AP? The documentation seems to conflict on this.
For example, at the top of the WSM data sheet: "Flexible add-on third radio module for the Cisco Aironet 3600i or Cisco Aironet 3600e Series Access Points". Then later on in the page graphic shows the 3700 series radios too. I have found multiple pages that have similar conflicting information.
    2. Can the WSM be used WITHOUT MSE and Cisco Prime? If so, are there any limitations?
    3. How does the licensing work? Where is the license installed -- WLC, MSE, Prime? Do ANY of the features work without the license?
3a. How do you order the license? The SKU listed on the data sheet (L-WIPS-MM-1AP) is not a valid part number in CCW.
    4. Is it possible to do sniffing with a WSM? (the idea being not having to dedicate an AP to sniffing, or taking down a client-serving AP to sniff)
    Thank you.

Ok, so you are talking about off-channel scanning, which is actually a very short duration 50ms, that the AP is actually off-channel to scan.

Are you thinking of this bullet point?
Access points with wireless security module: The Cisco Aironet® Access Point Module for Wireless Security aggressively scans all channels without affecting the data-serving radios in the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands.
To me, that's just saying that the WSM is scanning and not interferring with the AP's normal radios.

  • Question about internet security...please help!

    Hi everyone,
I have a question about the macbook's internet security.
A few days ago I became aware that my sibling was using a laptop for internet use at my house which he got from a person that I do not trust. He is very computer-savy and we're worried that he may have installed some form of spy ware on that laptop and in turn, may have tried (or succeeded) in accessing my Macbook through some form of spyware. My house is hooked up with a D-Link wireless router, and at the time, it had no internet/access-password.
So my question is, could this person have accessed my computer and personal information remotely by and through the laptop that my sibling got from him. I was under the impression that Mac's have very strong firewalls, but I have also heard that as long as he knew what he was doing, he could have accessed my computer. I don't have a wireless "network" set up at my house, I just simply use the router for internet. But my sibling told me that this guy was his "network administrator" which leads me to believe that he must have had remote access to the laptop.
Can anyone with knowledge on this problem please weigh in and let me know what I need to do to confirm that no one has accessed anything from my macbook.
    Thanks!

One option if you want to be extra safe is turning on FileVault (System Preferences -> Security), which will encrypt everything on your computer so that if somehow someone does gain access to your computer they will have a next to zero chance of being able to read anything they get from your computer. You have to have a lot of extra hard drive space on your computer to turn it on though.
Also, a "network" is just a connection between computers, regardless of the internet is involved or not. So when you connect your computer to the router which gives you the internet, you are putting your computer on a network. Now I believe that in order for this person whom you don't trust to gain remote access to your computer, they would have to have more information such as an IP address for your computer, through the router in order to get to it.
One thing I think is very important to consider that isn't on the technical side of things is something called "Social Engineering" which is a form of cracking, or hacking. You can do your own research, but in a nutshell Social Engineering is getting people that have access to something I'm trying to hack to give me information. For instance, this person you don't trust could be giving your brother the computer in the hopes that he will download something through your router to that laptop which could give him IP addresses and other information. And then when he gets that laptop back he could scan it for useful information and your brother wouldn't know he did anything wrong at all. The best way to avoid this is purely education and communication. Even if your brother doesn't share the same suspicions about this person, surely he will understand the need to be careful and smart when it comes to sharing personal information in the digital world.

  • Question about swapping SIM cards on a Z10

Hi, everyone, I am a non-Blackberry user who works in IT support.  One of my clients uses a Blackberry and has often asked me very complicated questions about how to do various unusual things with his device.  At the present time, he is considering switching to a Z10, which would be set up using ActiveSync.  He wants to know if he could swap the SIM card without having to go through the setup process again.   My client travels a lot, and wants to use a local SIM card on an upcoming trip to a very remote area.
I've not been able to find an answer to this anywhere.
This is his exact question: "I just got it from a friend (ATT version) and I am trying to see if I like it enough to switch to it as my primary phone.  Blackberry z10 asks you to sign in with your blackberry world ID when you first set up the phone.  Question: Would you have to do it again if you put a different simm into it?  With iPhone, it makes no difference so long as the device is unlocked—you can then exchange simm cards as often as you want.  Would it be the same with an unlocked blackberry z10 (I know it's not possible with the bold 9900 as System 7 ties your ID to the simm card).  In short, in blackberry z10, could you exchange the US simm for another country's simm without having to wipe the phone,  etc.  "
If anyone can shed some light on this for me, I'd be very grateful.,  Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    The key issues are thus:
Ensuring that the device is truly carrier unlocked
Ensuring that the specific device model is compatible with the radio frequencies/technologies that the desired carrier uses. There are 4 different Z10 models:
    http://www.bbin.in/en/2013/03/03/4-types-blackberry-z10-models-fits-better/?utm_campaign=4-types-of-...
If both of those are OK (separate research of the desired carriers would of course be necessary), then it is indeed a simple matter to change carriers. For example, I changed from ATT to TMO by simply changing the SIM...no need to WIPE or anything, and my same BBID came along just fine. You should, however, always obtain a properly-sized SIM card from the carrier -- there are plenty of reports of folks trying to use "cut" SIM cards and experiencing errors.
With BB10, it's actually simpler than with legacy BBs. Legacy BBs used the BIS service, which required receipt onto the device (from the carrier data network) of Service Books so as to activate the various services that the user subscribed to. When changing carriers, it often could be that a latent Service Book from the prior carrier causes issues when shifting to a different carrier...and that's where WIPING and such came into play, so as to cleanse the device so that the new carrier could deliver all of the proper Service Books to the device. With BB10, there is no BIS, and there are no Service Books...so all of that complication is eliminated.
    But, as always, YMMV.
    Good luck!

  • Question about PL/SQL Function in report

Hi all. I have a (basic) question about using a PL/SQL function in a report. In my report page I have an item (PL/SQL function) that has the following syntax:
    return username from t1
    where username like 'Le%'
I reference this item in an email process. Ideally this function would return all usernames that begin with 'Le' in the drafted email; however, its not looping so I'm only getting a return on the first name.
I have a few books on PL/SQL but I'm not exactly sure where to start - I imagine there is a loop process I need to integrate into the function but, like I said, I'm not sure.
I would have posted this to the PL/SQL forum but also wanted some feedback on whether or not using this method is the best way forward. Essentially I have a table with usernames and just want to send email messages based on some simple logic.
    Thanks!
    Len

    Hi Sergio,
First, it's an honor to have you reply to my post. Thanks!
    To be more specific,
T1 is a table containing the results from a user security scan. Username is a column in this table containing user names. What I have done is create a page in HTML DB with the following elements:
    1. An 'Item' containing the PL/SQL function that is hidden. The purpose of this Item is to generate information from T1 that meets the simple logic parameters - in this case, the user names that begin with "Le". I have called this Item P145_TT
    2. A 'Process' containing references to HTMLDB_MAIL. The 'Process' looks similar to this:
    HTMLDB_MAIL.SEND(
    P_TO => '[email protected]',
    P_FROM => 'Anon Email Account',
P_BODY => 'Note: This message was automatically generated. Do not attempt to reply to this email.
These are the users that begin with Le: '||:P145_TT||' ',
    P_SUBJ => 'Summary');
    3. A 'Button' to submit the process and (hopefully) send the message containing all users that adhere to the logic in the function.
    4. If I use 'return username from t1...' I will get a username generated, but like I said previously, it only gives me the first and does not loop.

  • Question about Measure folders Items (dimensions & measures)

    Hi All,
I have tow question about measure folder
1-     How can I make measure folder contain both dimensions & measures?
         Like this image http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/bi/r10122/images/d1t10202.gif
2-     When I create measure folder and add some measures in it, when I query cube these measures still displayed out of folders how can I make all measures and dimensions displayed only on folders like the above image ?
    Regards,
    Gado

    Hi Andy,
There should be no difference in functionality for these two kinds of folders. You can perform all the operations on these two kinds of folders without any difference, for example, delivery messages, create view settings/rules and etc.

  • I bought a Canon 8400F scanner- question about multiple photos being scanne

    Hi,
I have a question about about scanning photos. It was posted that if you scan something with multiple photos, it will separate the pictures.
If I put 6 pictures on the scanner, will it automatically scan them and separate them, or is there something in the software where I select it to separate each picture.
    Thank you

I'm not at my Mac right now but it should be real obvious in the CanoScan software. Open it up and play around. It will jump out at you.
You don't tell it to select "each" picture. You merely tell it that there are multiple pictures and it then does everything automatically.

  • Newbie question - general question about e-mail sync

    Hi,
I have a general question about email sync and BlackBerry smartphones.  Are there any devices that allow email syncing with a Microsoft Exchange 2007 system that do not require the BlackBerry Enterprise server?
Thanks; sorry if this has been asked before but I was unable to find it in the forums, documentation, etc.  Everything I found assumes that for this kind of environment you will be using a BlackBerry Enterprise solution, but I can't assume.
    Thanks again.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
If the Exchange server has anything that faces the internet (OWA, POP, IMAP), then BIS can be used to handle email (only email...calendar and contacts require BES to sync OTA).
Or, a PC, inside the network (but with an internet path) and logged into the email server (using Outlook), can be left running, using the RIM Desktop Software's Desktop Redirector capability to forward  messages to the BB.
    Those are basically the options.
Hope that helps! Let us know!

  • Question about keynote efficiency

I have a question about the efficiency of a keynote presentation...let me explain...
I am creating a slide in which I want the entire contents of the slide, 10 objects (a pdf image, 8 shapes, and a text box), to fade out. Following the fade out, I want a text box to appear with a brief instruction.  Following a click, the text box with the brief instruction will fade out and the original 10 objects will fade back in.  I see several options available to accomplish the effect:
    Option 1
I could create fade out actions for the original 10 objects, have the "brief instruction" text box fade in and hold. Then, after a click, the "brief instruction" text box would fade out and the original 10 objects would fade back in.  The important note here is that all these objects would be on the same slide
    Option 2
I could create fade out actions for the orginal 10 objects and then move to a new slide.  On the new slide would be the "brief instruction" text box, which would fade in after a short delay.  Then, after a click, the "brief instruction" text box would fade away followed by another new slide which would have copies of the original 10 objects from the first slide.  These 10 objects would then automatically fade back in after a short delay.
TL;DR: Option 1 has many objects and effects all on one slide, option 2 splits some of the objects and effects onto three different slides.
My question: Is one of these options more efficient than the other? I imagine in a short presentation it probably doesn't matter, but what about a presentation that starts to get pretty large, say 20 slides or more? Splitting everything up onto three different slides definitely helps me from an organization and planning standpoint.

    Multiple slides.
Slides are free, all you are doing is duplicating the 10-objects slide and inserting the instruction slide in between. Keynote is like any other slideware - keep the complexity to a minimum.
Given the weakness of the nomenclature on the animations timing box in Keynote, using the multiple slide method means you can effect any changes very simply and not worry about scanning up and down a endless list of animation items.
    K.I.S.S.
    I hope that helps

  • Questions about count

I have a few questions about count
    a) Is there any difference between select count(*) and select
    count)1)
    b) If I have created index for the table, will select count use
    the index for counting?

If you don't analyze your tables and indexes and compute
statistics, the indexes will not be used.
If you have analyzed your tables and indexes and computed
statistics and the index is on a not null column, the index will
be used for COUNT(*), COUNT(constant) such as COUNT(1) or COUNT
    (0) or COUNT('x'), and for COUNT(not null column) where the not
null column can be the column that the index was created on or
any other column that has a not null constraint.
If the index is on a column that can contain null values, then
the index will not be used for the COUNT functions listed above.
Much to my surprise, bitmap indexes are not used for counting,
whether they are created on columns with not null constraints or
not. I seem to recall that bitmap indexes are recommended in
situations of low cardinality, so perhaps they are inappropriate
    for counting.
The following tests should demonstrate all of the above: (I

  • Question about managing application licenses together with netboot

    Hello
So far I had made no experience with an MacOSX Server netboot configuration but we plan to introduce it in some weeks. Therefore we are "wondering" how management/assignment of application licenses is working in a netboot configuration. Normally in a local MacOSX configuration licenses for application are in generally assigned on the application (some are bound to a certain user name, others to the CPU ID) and is valid for all users login to the same computer. How and at which time are application licenses (for example MS Office 2004, Adobe Acrobat etc.) assigned in a netboot environment?
Many thanks in advance for any clarification and with best regards, André Müller

    Hi Andre,
Is this a technical or legal question Either way it is an interesting question about a major grey-area, and I wonder if anyone has the right answer.
Boiling your question down to specifics, it could be...
I have 15 individual Photoshop serials. I want to run Photoshop off a NetBoot image for 15 simultaneous users. Can I install one serial on the image, and allow 15 users to open Photoshop simultaneously. What if I want to install the image on 20 machines, but only 15 users will ever use Photoshop simultaneously.
There is a technical answer and a legal answer to the question. I don't know if there is a 'right' answer since multi-user installations of titles that are technically possible under NetBoot may not be allowed legally under the user license agreement you committed to on breaking the seal on the software. And these agreements are different for different countries.
Here's the technial answer. Sometime before OSX server 10.0, when Apple introduced netboot technology, developers were advised not to perform network scans checking for duplicate serial numbers when aps start up.
In practice this means you can install software title on your image, activate with a serial number, and it will not conflict with the other identical versions of the same application on other images on the network.
FileMaker Pro is the only software I am aware of that doesn't play by these rules, altthough it no longer checks when the applicaton starts, but when any FMPro network activity is started.
Here's the leagl answer. It depends on the title and the country you are in. The legality is definded under the eulas for the titles concerned. I don't know if the leaglity has ever been tested in a court of law in any country in this context.
The easy way to do the right thing for some titles it to purchase a multi-user serial number, ie. a single number which will work for 5 or 10, 20, 50... etc. users. Fore example, FileMaker has a volume licensing serial number which I beleieve can be purchased in increments of 10 users. However, not all titles offer this option, though, and it's difficult if you need 12 copies and have to buy 20.
Sassafras software http://www.sassafras.com/ sells Keyserver, which may be an appropriate solution. Keyserver tracks installations and authenticates serial numbers to ensure no more than the licensed number of copies can be run at the same time.
I don't think I've answerede your question for you but hope to have expanded the contxt of the question for other suggestions.
    Good luck,
    b.

    I am an HP employee.

My HP, purchased in June 2012, died on Saturday.  I was working in recently installed Photoshop, walked away from my computer to answer the phone and when I came back the screen was blank.  When I turned it on, I got a Windows Error Recovery message.  The computer was locked and wouldn't let me move the arrow keys up or down and hitting f8 didn't do anything.
I'm not happy with HP.  Any suggestions?
