Question about Sharing My Location through iMessage

My friend has shared her location with me through iMessage using OS8 on her iPhone 5S.
My question is, will she know when I am locating her using the access she has granted me?  Will she receive an email or any other notification or indication when I click on LOCATE?
I am using an iPhone 6 with OS 8.1.2.
Thank you.

No.

  • Question: about accessing Nik collection through Lightroom

I have recently purchased and installed Nik collection. I have no problem reaching the plug-ins in Photoshopbut can't in Lightroom (except for HDR)

Thanks!  Technology senses my fear and always makes it difficult for me! Ha! I can use the Nik programs so if I have to, I'll work on them there.

I suspect there are potential issues on some systems with the Google "combined" version, when I installed it I had recieved a copy of the Google complete version free because of my purchase history. I was advised that I could install over the Individual Plugins I had. I never got as far as trying it with Lightroom, only in Elements. The plugins appeared but the load times were abysmal and I mean realy bad , far longer than the Nik individual Installs, so I dumped it and reverted to the originals. Pity cos I wanted the Sharpen Plugin that I have'nt got. After reverting all was back to normal The Nik individual Plugins load very quickly. It was this that convinced me there is a difference in the Google setup. There are people on here with far more knowledge than me, hopefully one of them can help you, alternatively you might try asking Google for help with this.

  • Questions about shared maps

    Hi,
I have some questions about shared maps. Our Olite Applications has 96 tables. On these 96 tables, 54 tables are tables with DISABLED DML = UID. So, change on the client database are not uploaded to the server. Some of those tables have no where clause and some have a where clause which is the same where clause for all.
Is it true to say I could put all those tables as shared maps?
Are they automatically shared because DISABLED DML = UID?
What would be the advantages of putting those publications items as shared maps?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for your help.
I looked into CMP$ tables and CLID$$CS is not 0 but egal to my usersnames. I use a java program to create my items and publications.
I also found in the table C$ALL_TEMPLATE_ITEMS a COLUMN named SHARED and they are all with the value N. So I think they are not shared.
I think I found where in the API I should make the table shared. It is in the addPublicationItem procedure of the Class ConsolidatorManager. I will try it.
If we want all users to have all the table data, must we use the groups you talked about?
If yes, how do i define those groups?
    Thanks

  • Question About Sharing Apps Between My iPhone and My Wife's iPhone

Hi, I have a question about downloading apps to my iPhone.
I ordered two iPhone 3g's - one for my wife and one for me, and I've discovered that when I download an app (even free ones) on my iPhone and then later sync it to iTunes, my wife cannot put it on her phone. However if I download it on iTunes on my computer and later sync it to my phone, then my wife is able to sync it to her phone as well. It's no big deal when they are free because she can just go get it if she wants it. I haven't purchased any apps yet, but is there a way to be able to give my wife apps that I purchase on my iPhone? Or do I need to purchase all of my [pay] apps and songs on iTunes on my computer to ensure we both have access? Or do I have it all wrong completely LOL?? This rights management stuff is confusing.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Jimmy

I had my iTunes account and phone before I got my wife's hers. When I first started, I synced hers from her account on my computer brought in my libraries and authorized her phone as one of the 5 allowed. She had all purchased apps and music. Over time we each bought music or apps on our seperate accouts. Of course, we told each other about cool apps or music we bought and wanted on our phone. When I went to sync iTunes was going to delete all music and apps and sync with the library I was logged into. Didn't want that, only work around I have found is to copy new music or new apps from one library to the other. Updating on the phone is also difficult because you can't switch between accounts so updates have to be done at the computer for apps bought under different accounts. I am sure there is a better way to do this and ask for an insight anyone would have. I hope it works out.

  • Questions about shared music

Hi everyone i just recently learned about how in itunes you can share your music and look at music on other itunes in your home. My question is what good is it? The only thing that i can see that you can do is play the song or show from that other computer, but you can not import it into the other itunes. Am i correct about this? Is there a way to import a song from a different mac's itunes in my home into my itunes? thanks in advance

The reason they do it is so you are not illegally allowing digital transfers of your music library. Authorizing and sharing are two different things. When you share your library, ANYBODY who can see your computer on a network who is running iTunes can then see your library. For example, say you live in an apartment building and someone is running an open wireless network to everyone in the building can hop on if they want and you are sharing your iTunes library. Everyone in the building, assuming they run iTunes, can pull up your library and listen to your music. If Apple made it so you could also import music off of shared libraries, you essentially would be running a mini-Napster in your apartment building. Neighborhoods with houses close to each other, college dorms, office buildings, etc. are all places were a LOT of people could potentially be able to access your shared library.
So the shared library is very useful/fun if you are in a place where a lot of people are on the same network and you can sample new and different stuff (think of it like having a lot of private custom radio stations available to you). If Apple had allowed free importing and copying of library files, then they would run up against the lawyers of the music industry. So they don't block that stuff just to be difficult to their users. They do it to keep their products legal and free of legal attacks.

  • Few basic questions about sharing and other stuff..

    Hi there!
First of all I know where are "101" pages, but they are not giving detail information.
1.I know there are some folders where I can put files, web-sites and other in order to enable sharing.
What do I have to do to enable other users (from internet to)
    - view my webpage when they enter my IP address in browser
    - to access files which I want them to be able to acces (with user and password required)? I know there is sth like sharing, and windows sharing, but I give access to my all user folder, do I have to create new accounts on my mac?
    2. It's kind of small problem, but can I run apps in finder using only keyboard (enter causes rename action)
    3. Why doesn't safari keep addresses I used in addres field after few days?
The most important question is 1.
    Will be gratefull for help.
    Thanks
    Adam Mscisz

    1. Start Personal Web Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences; if you have a router between your computer and the Internet, ports 80 and 443 need to be forwarded to your computer. You can set this up from the router's configuration page, which is accessible by finding the router address in the Network pane of System Preferences and putting it into a web browser. See this article for instructions on how to password protect your shared files.
    2. You can use the Command and O keyboard shortcut to open the selected item in the Finder.
    3. The default setting in Safari is to keep the history for 7 days. You can use the method posted by ptejad in this article to extend the time Safari remembers the history for. The method at the top of the linked page won't work in Tiger.

  • Question About Project File Location

I was wondering how important is the project file location when it comes to performance?
Currently, I store all of my adobe project files(AE, PRP, ENC) on my SSD along with my OS and applications.
Btw, I am familiar with the guidelines for disk usage, but cant seem to find anything that has covered this specific question.

My C:\ is an SSD, and that is OS and programs only.  My D:\ is a fast WD 500 GB Raptor, and is reserved for Page file, My Documents. digital photos, and Video Projects.  E:\ and F:\ are both WD RE4 RAID0s, so all my drives are fast.
I keep files which are frequently re-written, or replaced, off my SSD to avoid any risk of degradation due to repeated re-writing to the memory.

  • Question about shared variables and report generator

I have a project with about 200-250 shared variables and at every 12 hours i want to make a report containing information about some boolean and double front panel variables linked to the shared variables... Now, i've tried with both the "Write Trace to SpreadSheet File" function from DSC->History and with different functions from NI Report Generation Toolkit. My problem is this: i would like to get my xls file to contain just the timestamps when my shared variable changed value. As it is, the number of rows in the file depends, obviously, on the sampling interval given as input. As an example, in 12 hours, my shared variable would change value maybe 5-6 times. Thus i would like my xls file to contain just 5-6 rows with those 5-6 changes. If i set the sampling interval to say, a matter of seconds, that would mean too much unneeded information in my xls file. Instead, if i set it to let's say 15 minutes, i would probably lose the moment the shared variable changed value. Is there a way for me to achieve my desired functionality with functions from DSC or Report Generation Toolkit? Thanks in advance, Sabin

Hi Mike and thanks for the reply. Actually, my first idea was exactly this: in an event case structure, whenever my variable changed value, i would retain the relevant data in an array and then at the 12 hour period write all of it in a report. However, my boss deeemed it memory unefficient and compelled me to use only one function. Thus my predicament... If you have more advice on this new info, i would be grateful... Cheers, sabin

  • Question about Sharing folders over network

Alright, i have a mac and a PC, on the same network. I have a folder on my PC thats shared, and i can access it via the network tab in finder. The network icon thingy appears on the desktop, and it acts like a folder on my mac. Is there anyway i can move this "folder" to another location? Also, when i restart my mac, i have to conncet to the same folder again via the network tab. Is there anyway to have the folder stay there, even when restart my mac?

Create an alias or a symbolic link would be the normal manner so you can access a folder/directory from another location.
Can't help on the log-in automatically but perhaps SharePoints or something will let you. Do you use Samba to connect?

  • A very dumb question about sharing preview in an iPad

    Hi, folks
I have to share some content I have made in some iPad devices. I am taking about a dozen of people, some of whom I don't even know.
To test all this, I have reloaded in Folio Builder the content with our shared user account (ie: not mine) and now I want to test this sharing with myself, to see that in my own account and my own iPad.
However, I see that this seems not to be possible. As fas as I have been reading posts here and there, each user has to start session with that shared account and then download the folio. Afterwards, they can restart with their own account and still see the folio, as it has been downloaded to their devices...
Is that right? I mean: is there no other way but sharing the account and password with every individual likely involved? That gives me the creeps, to be honest.
Thanking you in advance for all your patience
    Gustavo (Posting from Madrid).

Yes, Bob I thought that was the way
But I am a bit dumb-stuck in this. The user... let's say [email protected] has shared it and I have received his e-mail in my iPad. I have my account, let's say [email protected]
How do I see / download it in the iPad?
I must be a bit overworked to see it, sorry if so.

  • Question about shared application modules

    Hello,
I read the part in the developer guide but I still have some questions.
    1) The dev guide states that shared app modules use a different configuration.
I assume this is the <appmod>Shared configuration?
    2) Where is this defined? Can this be changed?
    3) I understand there are two type of ‘scopes’ session and application. I’m using application for static lists, but I do not understand what the session scope is for? Is there any reason to use this scope over a normal application module?
    4) We have a system which uses VPD in an ‘odd’ way. We use it to set the current working year. Because the data is bound to years. Is it possible to use a session scoped shared module for this? And when I changed the current year (Context being set via the app module) to refresh all the session scoped shared module’s views?
    -Anton

    Anton,
Yes, you can jump aroundd as you like.
You just can't use view links between VO's based on different db schema tables.
Nesting AM's doesn't help there, the DB connection of the top-level AM will be used.
Why don't you create synomyms for the tables in the other schema?

  • AEBS 5th gen - question about interference & mounting location

My base station is mounted on my desk about a foot from my iMac. The iMac isn't obstructing the transmission or receiving path to other devices (iPads, iPhones, laptops). Intermittently the wireless network seems to bog down. There are no other wireless devices within 25 ft of the base station. Is it possible that the iMac is causing interference that would intermittently slow down the wireless network operation? The symptoms are slow or hanging page loads in Safari on the laptops and iPads/iPhones, and very slow downloads at times.
My next experiment will be to turn the iMac off for a few hours and see if things improve

Not really. With locations servers off but connected to internet you can send a message via Lost Mode that will be display on the screen.

No app on the iPod is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    iCloud: Erase your device
    iCloud: Use Lost Mode
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • Some questions about sharing resources, eg via dropbox...

    Experts-
I see that one way to share all topics with another RH user is to open the Topics List pod, select all topics, then drag the lot to Resource Manager (eg, the Dropbox folder therein). Is there a way to add images and other non-topic files in a similar way, or do I need to dive into each directory in project files, then select-drag the files to Dropbox?
Is there a way to configure RH such that all new files that are added to a project are automatically copied to Resource Manager so one doesn't have to remember to do this manually?
Is there a way to share resources other than files in the Project Files folder, such as TOC definitions, Index defs, Glossary defs, and the single-source layouts? I see that I can't drag these items to the Dropbox folder. The idea is to be able to have other writers  recreate the project on there systems. (Perhaps I'm missing the purpose of Resource Manager. Perhaps duplication of entire projects is best performed using a CMS.)
    Thanks!
    -Kurt

Sharing topics was not designed for sharing whole projects and that approach will not get the files into Dropbox in the same folders. See the Rh Tour on my site.
What I would do is put the whole project into Dropbox. It is then on your local drive and that of anyone else who is going to access it. This does not permit simultaneous access, you still need source control for that. Also you have to be wary of your Dropbox and that of others being synchronized.

  • Question about sharing itunes library with another mac acct user

I have set up my itunes library to be accessible from an external HD and have it set up to where a second acct user on my mac can access it. My goal is to be able to sync my wife's and my iphone to the same itunes library/playlists, since we share that music.  I followed the instructions to set this up and can see the original library showing up in the itunes acct of the second user. What I dont understand is haw to sync my playlists to the second accounts user's iphone? When I connect and pull up itunes, and select to sync specific playlists, it only gives me the option to select new playlists created on her accounts, not the ones I am sharing with the second account? All of the songs are showing up in her library as well as my visible shared library. Is this how it should work...in other words, it I add a new song to my library, it will also show up in the second accounts library, along with the one that is visible as my shared library. Does the second account just need to make their own playlists, vs being able to select specific ones on my account to sync?

  • A question about the face call through wifi

Hi I'm currently waiting for iphone4 in Korea
one of the main reasons for me to buy iphone4 is
I can use face call(I know it isn't the official term but
I hope everyone understands what I mean) for free through
wifi. So right now my biggest concern is that does the free face
call exclusively possible inside of the us or does it possible
internationally through wifi. In other word does the face call possible
between the iphone4 user in Korea and in the us?
I'll study in the us and my parents stay in Korea. I hope the face call
will be possible between me and my parents. Thay way will very much
narrow the geographical gap betwen me and my parents.
    Thank you.

I think it will be, I saw a post I think on engadget.com that shows the possibility. The guy was using a mifi in I think the UK and the other guy was in the states. It was possible but it had hiccups. I have not seen a wifi to wifi in two different countries as of yet. But the mifi to wifi in two different countries yes. The study was done to see why Face Time was not available when using 3G service and it clearly showed it is possible because the mifi uses a 3G signal which is translated as a hotspot.....There also may be international laws in certain countries that block it.
