Question about streaming h264 in flv file

I read an article at "
http://www.kaourantin.net/2007/08/what-just-happened-to-video-on-web_20.html"
which is a blog of an software engineer of Adobe, the author said
in this article that "...There are functional limits with the FLV
structure when streaming H.264 which we could not overcome without
a redesign of the file format..." and "...Specifically dealing with
sequence headers and enders is tricky with FLV streams...", does
anybody know what exactly the author mean? what is the "functional
limits"? how to "specifically dealing with sequence headers and
enders"? is it a way to solve the "functional limits"?
Thanks!

Hi, anybody help me?

    I believe that it just mean that H.264 encoded video for FMS
    & Flash are not stored in FLV format... because of some
    inherent limitations in FLV file format.
    It uses mp4/MOV format which is what has been used by
    Quicktime also for quite some time. Adobe calls it M4V.

    Hi, TasisGrafix2-
    Edge Animate doesn't support css3d natively, but you can use a third party library such as edgehero.js to make this work.

  • Workflow Questions - Premiere on Mac - for FLV file

    Hi.
    I want to add subtitles to an FLV file using Premiere Pro. I'm working on a Mac.
    I know that I can't use the FLV so I would have to convert the FLV to an intermediate format first. Then Import that into Premiere, add the subtitles, render and convert back to FLV.
    So my question isn't directly associated with Premiere, but I would like to know what you guys would recommend as far as the workflow I've described. What intermediate file format would be best so as lose minimal quality? Which software to use for the conversion from the FLV and back into the subtitled FLV?
    Thanks!

  • Can't seem to stream (RTMP) an FLV file in Flash Media Playback from the Amazon Cloud

    I seem to be having trouble streaming any FLV file using RTMP from the Amazon Cloud.  Other file formats (i.e., MP4, F4V) seem to work just fine.
    I tried using your Flash Media Playback demo page and still had the same problem:
    http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/
    Without publicly displaying the actual connection path here, this is what I am using for the Video Source (URL):
    rtmp://xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/cfx/st/_definst_/MyVideo.flv
    If I change the "MyVideo.flv" to "mp4:MyVideo.f4v", for example, then it works.  But when I try to reference any FLV file that I have located on the Amazon Cloud then it just shows continuous buffering.
    The FLV files that I am trying to use with both the Strobe and Flash Media Playback(s) all stream just fine when I connect to them via other Flash based applications/players that I have.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you very much.

    Hello,
    The link to the previous post does not seem to apply or help in this case.  Please let me know if I am wrong.
    I am merely trying to stream any FLV file using your Flash Media Playback demo page.  What am I missing here?
    Thanks again.

  • Question about streaming itunes music files (AAC Format) to my Sony Bravia TV.

    I am streaming iTunes music files tfrom my Laptop to my Sony TV; the files are in AAC format.   However a Sony technician said I need to convert them to MP3 for the streaming to work properly.
    It seems to work OK without converting them so why should I convert them?
    And more importantly, if I convert them to MP3, will iTunes continue to work right?  And will iTunes still synch to my Nano and to my iPhone4?
    Thanks for any wisdom you all can offer.

    No.
    You would have to have itunes running in order to stream music, or, as you point out, have an appleTV

  • Clip Notes in CS4: questions about streaming

    I've used Clip Notes before with small, embedded files, but this is my first time with a large video that I want to stream on a server. Maybe someone can answer a few questions:
    Where do I name the movie file? The export dialog only has a place to name the PDF.
    How does the URL setting work? The documentation simply says "This is where your video file is located" but that puts the cart before the horse. How can I specify the name and location of a movie that hasn't been created yet and for which I have no control over the name? The FTP feature works great, but it's for upload only, not for naming.
    After exporting the movie and PDF, is there a way to re-generate the PDF w/o having to re-export the movie? I realized I wanted to make some changes to the PDF only (like instructions and URL), and exporting another movie will take time that isn't necessary.
    I learned here earlier that only the QuickTime option will provide player controls. But a big .mov requres a streaming server, which I don't have. The .wmv option has the opposite problem. Does anyone know of a workaround (or other method entirely) that will use Flash video? FLV or F4V will do progressive downloading with small file sizes for online viewing.

    Where do I name the movie file? The export dialog only has a place to name the PDF.
    The name you assign to the PDF is also assigned to the exported movie file, regardless of whether you use QT or WMV. So, if you set the name of the PDF in the Export Settings to "clipnotes.pdf", the video will be either "clipnotes.mov" or "clipnotes.wmv", depending on the format you've chosen.
    How does the URL setting work? The documentation simply says "This is where your video file is located" but that puts the cart before the horse. How can I specify the name and location of a movie that hasn't been created yet and for which I have no control over the name? The FTP feature works great, but it's for upload only, not for naming.
    See above. Since you now know what the filename will be, you just have to decide where the file will reside on your server, and input this into URL field. Using our example from above, you'd use enter something like "http://www.mysite.com/upload/clipnotes.mov". It's a full URL, with the "http://" needed; just change the pertinent details.
    After exporting the movie and PDF, is there a way to re-generate the PDF w/o having to re-export the movie? I realized I wanted to make some changes to the PDF only (like instructions and URL), and exporting another movie will take time that isn't necessary.
    Maybe, though I haven't tested this:
    Trash the original PDF file.
    Temporarily rename your originally-exported movie file, or move it to a different folder so that it's not overwritten.
    Set your export range to one frame, using the same settings and same name that you did for your first export, and restart the export.
    Throw away the new movie file, and rename the original or move it back to it's original folder. Since the only connection the PDF has to the movie file is the URL and filename, this should work.
    I don't think you need a streaming server; I've tested QuickTime off a regular ol' HTTP server and it works fine. Incidentally, I should add, QuickTime streaming WASN'T working for me previously, at all. I just tried it out, and it would seem that a recent update to Adobe Reader might have fixed the issue. Streaming WMV always worked fine. Curious.
    As far as Flash: are you talking about using Flash Video in ClipNotes, or just Flash Video viewing online, in general? At this time, ClipNotes is QuickTime or WMV only, but I wouldn't be suprised if Flash Video makes an appearance in ClipNotes CS5, given the whole focus on Flash in the Adobe ecosystem. If you're talking about general FLV playback, check out the JW FLV Media Player; it's an fairly simple-to-configure Flash Video player that can be embedded into a webpage.

  • Questions about Adobe AIR and FLV license model

    I'm currently looking for a game development framework which I can use for a fan-project in my spare time and also for commercial projects for the company I'm working for.
    I think that the Citrus Engine which is open source and based on Apache Flex/Adobe AIR/Starling/Away3D/Box2d/Nate might be a good choice.
    But I'm really confused about the license model of Adobe AIR and its runtime distribution.
    Do I have to pay a license fee or royalties for my games (which include the AIR runtime in order to be stand-alone-apps) when I publish them?
    If so, how much are these license fees/royalties?
    Does this also concern free apps?
    What is the name of the license which I would have to request from Adobe in order to publish my games?
    Do I need several licenses when publishing an app on multiple AppStores (Apple/Google/Amzaon) or desktop distribution platforms (Steam/GOG)?
    Are there further licensing obstacles which I have to keep in mind when using Flex/AIR for (commercial) game development?
    By the way - the FAQ on the product page (http://www.adobe.com/products/air/faq.html) isn't really helping on this topic:
    "How much does Adobe AIR cost?" -> "The Adobe AIR runtime and AIR SDK are free for most users."
    This answer leaves me with the question: Am I belonging to the "most users" or not?
    Therefore it isn't meaningful at all.
    I'm also thinking about adding short video sequences as FLVs to the games.
    If I understood correctly H.264 and MP3 are currently used as a standard for these video files but aren't free.
    Is there a free alternative available for FLVs which can be used in combination with Adobe AIR?
    Or did I get something wrong here and don't need to worry about getting sued when using these formats?
    Thank you in advance for answering my numerous questions.

    That's true.
    I'm using a Dell Studio 1537 with 3GB of RAM and Intel Core 2 Duo and it's quick in Lr

  • Question about security issue when transferring files from PC

    I am in the process of looking at macs. I have always been a PC user and have been EXTREMELY impressed with the features of mac os x. Here's the question. I am probably sure that I have one or more viruses on my PC, what PC doesn't right? When I get my mac, I'm looking at the macbook, I see that I can transfer my files over from a PC to my new mac. The problem is. I want my files, but I'm leery about transferring a virus over also. I've heard about the security of macs and I am wondering if this is something I need to be worried about, or if it won't be a problem. Is there any steps I will need to take to ensure that I don't bring any viruses over with my files? Thanks for the help.
    Micah
    P.S. I am really starting to get sick and tired of Vista. I had to download VLC media player to play my Windows Media files because my Windows Media player on Vista WILL NOT play the files meant for that system. Arrrghhh Sorry for the vent.

    Be sure to scan all your files for viruses before moving them from the PC to the Mac. Although PC viruses should have no effect on a Mac, it's still possible to pass on a virus to a friend via email.
    Do You Need Anti-Virus Protection for Your Mac?
    According to Rich Mogull's article, Should Mac Users Run Antivirus Software?,
    "The reality is that today the Mac platform is relatively safe. There are hundreds of thousands of viruses and other malicious software programs floating around for Windows, but less than 200 are known to target the Mac, and many of those are aimed at versions of the Mac OS prior to Mac OS X (and thus have no effect on a modern Mac).
    It's not that Mac OS X is inherently more secure against viruses than current versions of Windows (although it was clearly more secure than Windows prior to XP SP2); the numerous vulnerabilities reported and patched in recent years are just as exploitable as their Windows equivalents. But most security experts agree that malicious software these days is driven by financial incentives, and it's far more profitable to target the most dominant platform."
    Mr. Mogull is a computer security expert. I recommend reading the entire article as it is quite informative.

  • Question about the arrangement of music files within an album

    Hi all,
    I used to have a cheap MP3 player that worked just like a portable hard drive--drag-and-drop and organized into folders. I wanted the quality of an iPod, but with the organizational convenience of my old player, so I decided to change the tags of all my MP3s so that the album titles were the titles of all my old folders. This basically worked--whenever a folder was organized by tracks, I would open up the album, and there were all my files, properly arranged. The problem is when the "album" wasn't actually an album. I tried to change all the track numbers to "1" hoping that the iPod would just then arrange the files in alphabetical order by title. But it doesn't. I can't figure out what system it uses, but I figured you might know. Here are the questions:
    How does the 5G iPod determine the file order of tracks within an album when all the tracks have the same number?
    and
    If track number is the only thing it checks, is there any way for me to cheat and get the songs in alphabetical order without manually giving them all a track number?
    and on an unrelated note
    Anyone find the standard issue Apple earbuds to be too large? Any recommendations for slightly smaller earbuds that are at least at the same quality level? A few suggestions at different price levels would be appreciated. And I assume you already have a discussion for that, so a link would suffice.
    Thanks,
    John

    wow that is crazy i can't believe it is able to transpose audio loops (not midi) to different keys. especially stuff with more then one note playing at the same time like guitar strum.
    I know how to set up the key in logic and change it etc... i was really wondering how it is capable of doing this?? does it have some kind of melodyne or autotune built in to it?? i never heard of software being able to do this with pre recorded audio that plays more than one note at a time.

  • Question about Illustrator CS5 making eps files in Mac OS 10.9.5

    Hello, I am using Illustrator CS5 on a Mac. I just updates to Mac OS 10.9.5
    Now when I save an simple Illustrator vector file as an eps, and place it in another program (such as Quark), I get code instead of the preview image. I tried older vector eps files, and they still work. i tried older Quark files, and they still work. I ruled out font problems. I tried importing new Illustrator ai file, same result. Any thoughts?

    Ask in the AI forum and include proper details about your export settings and your artwork. EPS parsing errors usually mean you chose an unsuitable combination of settings and/or the embedded previews are botched.

  • Question about how javac finds referenced files.

    Hi
    I am just beginning to learn Java and have got some questions related to packages.
    I have two classes:
    MyClass.java
    package pkg;
    public class MyClass {
         public void prn(int x){
         System.out.println("Integer: "+x);
    Test.java
    import pkg.*;
    public class Test{
         public static void main(String[] args){
              MyClass obj=new MyClass();
              obj.prn(2);
    Directory structure
    /root/ jprog/MyClass.java
    /root/ jprog/Test.java
    Executing the following sequence of commands gives me:
    # ls
    MyClass.java Test.java
    # javac -d . MyClass.java
    # ls
    MyClass.java Test.java pkg/
    # cd pkg
    # ls
    MyClass.class -----compiles.
    # cd ..
    # javac Test.java
    Test.java:5: cannot access MyClass
    bad class file: ./MyClass.java
    file does not contain class MyClass
    Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath.
    MyClass obj=new MyClass();
    ^
    1 error
    Now after reading another thread on this forum I came to know that the compiler finds the
    MyClass.java in the wrong package. Using verbose option with javac shows this.
    So I move it to some other directory and everything works.
    # mv MyClass.java /root
    # ls
    Test.java pkg/
    # javac Test.java
    # java Test
    Integer: 2
    Now the question begins:
    Suppose we go back to how the files were arranged before I moved the MyClass.java file and
    I change the Test.java file by adding
    package pkg2;
    statement to it.
    Now everything compiles
    # ls
    MyClass.java Test.java ---I have deleted pkg and .class files
    # cat Test.java
    package pkg2;
    import pkg.*;
    public class Test{
    public static void main(String[] args){
    MyClass obj=new MyClass();
    obj.prn(2);
    # cat MyClass.java
    package pkg;
    public class MyClass {
    public void prn(int x){
    System.out.println("Integer: "+x);
    # javac -d . MyClass.java
    # javac -d . Test.java
    # ls
    MyClass.java Test.java pkg/ pkg2/
    # java pkg2.Test
    Integer: 2
    Why isn't the MyClass.java file causing any problems now?
    Using the verbose option with javac shows that the compiler goes straight for the pkg/MyClass.class.
    My readings of Core Java Horstmann tell me that the compiler always looks in the current directory. javac documentation also doesn't help. I know that the documentation recommends that the source file locations should match the package statements.
    I'm just trying to learn how javac finds referenced files.
    Any help??
    Thanks a load in advance.

    I know that the
    documentation recommends that the source file
    locations should match the package statements.This is not merely a recommendation, it is a requirement.
    Both javac and java find classes by traversing the classpath. The classpath should contain directories (or jar files) that correspond to the top of a (part of the) package hierarchy.
    For example, if the Java code for your class is in a file C:\src\pkg\MyClass.java, and MyClass.java declares the class to be in package pkg, the classpath should contain C:\src. Classes are then found by transforming their package declaration into a directory structure.
    Please note that javac works on files, not classes. Therefore it is necessary to specify the full filenames of the files you want to compile, even if you have specified the classpath. By default, javac will put compiled class files in the same location as their sources, so the classpath for the java command should also contain C:\src.
    The exception to the rule is when all classes for the program are in the default package (i.e., they do NOT contain a package statement). In that case, it is possible for javac (and I believe java as well) to find all classes in the current directory, so it will "just work".
    You can specify the classpath using the -cp parameter to both javac and java.
    Hope this helps.

  • Question about users in thr realm file.

    Hi,
    I started reading and practicing how to implement security issues on web applications. I understand that you can use either a the declarative approach or a programmatic approach using annotations. From what I understand all the users,groups and principals are managed by the application server and the roles are managed by the web.xml and sun-web.xml and can be used in the annotations.
    My question is as follows: If I am building a web site that requires a login process, it means that I have to save the information of the web site's users in a database or in some other means of data source. Do I have to declare all my web site users in the realm file also, Is there a way to map the users from the database to the users in the realm file?
    Thanks
