Question about Tagging Photos

I know that you can Tag photos INSIDE iphoto, but is there a way (program or method or function) that allows you to tag photos OUTSIDE of iphoto (for example, if the photo is on my computer in some random folder) and then later on import into iPhoto and have the tags be recognized by iphoto?
I would appreciate any advice or help.

What kind of Tag are you speaking of?
Any tag that is in the correct EXIF or IPTC field will import to iPhoto - not all fields can be accessed in iPhoto

I have a question about about scanning photos. It was posted that if you scan something with multiple photos, it will separate the pictures.
If I put 6 pictures on the scanner, will it automatically scan them and separate them, or is there something in the software where I select it to separate each picture.

I'm not at my Mac right now but it should be real obvious in the CanoScan software. Open it up and play around. It will jump out at you.
You don't tell it to select "each" picture. You merely tell it that there are multiple pictures and it then does everything automatically.

Questions about iPod photo and Apple Protection Plan

I have an iPod photo and an APP that expires May 2007. My
iPod's battery has permanently run out and I plan to use my APP and send it to Apple. Here are my questions:
1. What is the best way to contact them about sending my iPod to them?
2. Does the APP cover battery replacement?
3. Has Apple discontinued the making of iPod photos?
4. If so, will they still replace my battery or will they just send me a completely new iPod?

IWeb SEO tool question about tagging images: what do others do?

I've been reading everybody's posts and started to use iWeb SEO Tool to add meta tags to all my pages. (since google couldn't verify my site with html) The page titles, keywords, and meta tags are relatively easy to decide on, but I don't know what to do about some of the images.
If it's a definite photo of a subject, no problem, but what about those pesky shapeimage5_link0 and shapeimage_1.jpg files?
What do i name them ? line 1, thicker line 2, arrow? (I'm being flippant here, ... really).
I've just been calling them 'stained glass link' or 'next arrow link' but that's pretty dull.
In some cases (for the lines) i've titled them with the name of the webpage again, but with several lines on the page, that tag is repeated, a lot. (And i read that if you repeat the same tag too frequently, your site is banned from google, which i don't want.)
I thought they didn't matter too much but when i did a search from one of the search engines, the description of the web page actually included shapeimage5a.png or some such thing, and i don't want that to appear in people's searches !!
So what do other people do about these? How do you name them?

The main thing with images is TEXT. Put a text caption for each. If possible, don't use the iWeb Photos and Albums templates.
Put a text description at the top of every page with keywords in both the title and text. The spiders will pick up on this.
If you don't do this, at least put a fairly long title tag in. Make sure the first few words are descriptive of the page so that they are relevant to a page bookmark.
If the search engines are picking up on stuff like "shapeimage5_link0" it means that you haven't supplied any unique and relevant text!

Question about tagging bounce verification

I'm a really new beginner with IronPort and more generally with antispam. So you will maybe find my questions a little bit newbee but I need it for understand and improve myself :wink:
First I have a C150 with AsyncOS 5.5.1-014.
I use tagging outgoing mails and bounce verification and for some domains, they failed for delivery.
For example: I send a mail at [email protected] from my adress: [email protected], the client has an antispam which send a mail back to my personnal adress [email protected] with the mail adress [email protected]
What it seems to happen is that [email protected] send a mail to my tagged address (something like prvs=myadress=[email protected]) and is then rejected by the RAT. As I rejected his mail and their antispam wait for a correct answer from their mail, they dropped my mail.
So my questions are:
- When I send a send a mail (which is tagged) to an address [email protected], if another mail adress send me a mail to my tagged address, is this mail considered as a spam ?
- Does the ironport wait that only mail addresses I have send my tagged mail in return with that tag? And to dig a little more, if I received a mail to my tagged mail address I send to another people, will this mail untag and then checked by RAT ?

Two important points here:
1) It looks like what's going on is the toto.com domain is using Sender Address Verification (SAV). When the IronPort attempts to send email, they make a connection back and see if the sender is a valid recipient for the sending domain. They should be using a null (<>) sender, which will trigger the Bounce Verification code on the IronPort.
2) You are running AsyncOS 5.5.1-014. There is a bug with Bounce Verification that was recently fixed You should upgrade: either to 5.5.1-019, or go to the very latest, 6.1.0-306.

General question about syncing/photos

maybe this is the most ridiculous question i can ask, but i just can't grasp syncing photos.
say i have photos on my phone and photos in my iphotos and itunes is set up to sync photos with iphoto, will the photos on my phone just be added to my iphoto or will the iphone photo gallery be made to replicate my iphoto gallery?
i have lots of photos on my iphone i would love to separate into different galleries on my iphone.
i've also had an issue where lots of photos seem to have gone missing from my phone after syncing ant they are no where to be found...
i'm just generally not having a fun experience dealing with my photos on my iphone and through iphoto as i never feel like i have full control over where the files end up and how they are moved...

The photo sync process is ONE -WAY - computer to iphone. You go to the photo tab and select the folders/albums that you would like to sync. Those folders/album will be reflected on your iphone ( but in lower resolution) You cannot sync these photos back to your computer. The iphone is NOT a backup device.
Pics taken/saved with iphone ( Camera Roll) should be imported ( as you would import from any digital camera) to your computer regularly. You can then organize and sync them to iphone.

Question about 'tags' in ecommerce templates?

I have a client with an Ecommerce section. Now the System email for the invoice is setup fine however the client wanted to add a 'thank you' block of text to the email. No problem. Then they came back and wanted to have the 'thank you' block of text only email to the customer when they order something BUT have the invoice printable without the 'thank you' block of text so they can keep a hardcopy of the invoice. So I created a quick page template to have the 'thank you' text in and add this to the System Email Inovice which worked fine BUT now the client wants to have the recipients name in the email that goes out and it doesn't seem to work with the page template I have created. Is this possible to add a tag in a page template that will pick up a customers name when added to the system email?

I have the everything as you mention in one invoice. The invoice I build is landscape and sweet. This is just tweaking. If it is two pages for him in the CRM if someone prints theirs from the email they will still have the same problem so only having it in the email is like saying "Hey, dont care if it is messy for you dude, as long as I am sweet" which you dont want.

In terms of the other invoice option if they use drop shipping and set their staff as the drop shipper in the CRM then you can use that email to send out an invoice with different layout as you need it to show or not show things.
Page templates should not be used on emails as lots of modules and layouts will not work. Specific template designed for email will be needed but tags only render in their relevent layouts.
Want to always please your clients I know but never take what their asking for and just go with it, for me, this task all seems not worth any time, not anything out of it, not worth the hassle and a good tidy up of the invoice itself from the sounds of it is all you need.

Question about import photos into iphoto/aperture

I have my own folder of photos in my hard drive. If I want to import them into iphoto/aperture, will all the photos be dupilicated on my hard drive?
If yes, this will use double of my hard drive space, it's not a good thing, right?

There are a couple of ways to answer this.
1. Yes... and no... and no
By default iPhoto copies the files into the iPhoto Library when importing. This is called a Managed Library If you work in the default setting then your "own folder of photos" is pointless and you can trash it.
You can set iPhoto to simply reference the files - that is not copy them. However, I strongly urge you not to do this, especially if you're new to Mac and/or iPhoto. For more on this:

In the case of Aperture there are less pitfalls running a Referenced Library. You can also run Managed Library with it.
In any case, with either app, if you go the Managed route then the idea is to trash your own filing system. It becomes pointless.
More importantly, if you use either iPhoto or Aperture then you never access the files in those folders anyway. Anything and everything you want or need to do via your Photos is done via the Manger - i.e. iPhoto or Aperture. These apps quite replace the Finder for the task.

Question about syncing photos

If I sync the photos between windows xp and iPod, will it delete whatever music I no longer having in my library in iTunes?? Or will it just delete whatever pictures on the iPod that I no longer have??

I'm still unclear exactly how you're syncing or from what app you're syncing them from. You should be able to sync as many different "albums" (folders) as you want.

Another question about merging photos

I am trying to take a person from one photo and p
lace her in another, The hair selection is what is getting me. She has blond hair and is on a solid background, Is there a way I can remove the background and nmake her hair selection look better. I am new to this so, if anyone knows how to do this, could tou please post instructions. I have Photoshop elements 9.

Try using the magic selector to select the solid background rather than the subject.
Then on the top menu click Select >>Inverse
That will automatically select the subject. Then press Ctrl+J to put the subject on it’s own transparent layer.
You can then drag in the photo you want to use and place it below the transparent layer.
Use the move tool to position it.

Question about texting photos

My iPhone has been working fine, but recently when I go to my photos and try to send a photo via text , the blue send button won't press enabling me to send it...... But I can go to messages and attach a photo and it will send it just fine. What's the problem?

Go to Settings>Messages>Show Subject Field and make sure it's set to Off.

Basic question about emailing photos

When I email photos, sometimes I need to email them to myself. For some reason the iPhone automatically put's my email address on the CC and From areas. Is there a way to take myself off the CC and just have it on the From area?

When you want to email the photo to yourself, you want to place your email address in the Bcc: field so your email address doesn't appear in the message header except in the From: field?
If so, the iPhone includes an Always Bcc Myself option.
If you are using this, your email address is placed in the Cc: field instead of the Bcc: field?

Dumb question about I-photo sharing.

Hi all. I am wondering how I can upload photos in I-photo to facebook or other forums I am using.
when I go to the upload photos area of the site, then search for my photos on the computer, the I-photo library is greyed out, not letting me select anything from there. So what I have been doing is opening I-photo, then copying the pictures I am after, pasting them to another folder, such as "pictures", and then uploading them to whatever website i am posting to.
I imagine there is an easier way, but I have yet to figure this out.

Hi, the OP may have a corrupt file within Safari or the OS, I would suggest a Reinstall of the OS..Repairing Permissions -> checking for the latest updates -> Repairing Permissions after updating..go from there...L

Photography question about iPad photos

I am a professional photographer and got the iPad in order to show photos to clients. I was wondering if there was a way to display my photo number instead of the way the iPad numbers them 1,2,3....etc. I need my photo numbers in order to place my orders. Please help!

I think the iPad sorts photos by shooting date (if EXIF data is in the file) and if not by file creation date.
I think it's a good idea to suggest to Apple (via feedback) that they add a simple sort features in their photos app. Just like you can rearrange the icons on the main screen.
