Question about the new iTunes format

The new iTunes version makes the iTunes store the homepage. How can I make my podcasts or music my homepage?
I do not go to iTunes to start shopping.

Select it for the display.

  • I may have a relativly dumb question about the newer iTunes

ok, I got a video iPod for my birthday, which was in the first week of august, and I put iTunes on my comp, but I haven't updated iTunes since because I have been reading there were so many bugs with the iTunes they released. Then I see they came out with a newer version, but I haven't downloaded it yet because I was afraid about the problems and bugs. My friend told me that apple fixed the problems, but I read a thing or two here about people having trouble with it.
So I guess the question I'm building up to is, should I still be on the catious side and not download the newer iTunes, or is the newer iTunes ok?
Me being computer illiterate, I'm not too sure what my comps insides are running other than Windows XP home edition

Downloading videos on 7.0.2 hasn't worked as well as everyone had hoped. I still can't get mine to work, but i do know a few people who haven't had trouble with the newer itunes.

  • Questions about the new iTunes 11

    Hi,
I've had a few problems with the new iTunes 11. It's probably just me but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!
Firstly, how do you see how much memory a playlist takes up. On the old iTunes it used to say x number of items, x number of days, and then x GB, but I can only see how many days and items there are.
Secondly, I'm guessing this is just a minor glitch to get sorted out, but sometimes the iTunes window is a few mm too big for my screen, which means I have to scroll down using the touchpad (if on a laptop) which gets somewhat irritating! Just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar problem!
    Thank you!

  • Two questions about the new iWeb

    Hi
I've got two questions about the new iWeb.
    1. Is it possible to blog online now? Meaning adding a new blog entry without having to be on your own Mac? This is a feature I've been waiting for since iWeb first was released.
    2. Is it possible to choose the format of images? Earlier editions had the option to "optimize" images but that meant it changed it into .png meaning the site got a lot heavier than if .jpg was used. And since I have relatives who still only have an isdn connection I need to be able to have the website as light as possible.
    thanks

Ah well... thanks for the quick answer

  • Question about the new Yoga 10 HD+

    Hi
A few questions about the new Yoga 10 HD+ which I hope you can answer.
I bought the old model last year. Loved the design and long battery time but a few major issues made me return it.
Somewhere I read that it can't read NTFS over USB so I presume that's the same with an NTFS formatted microSD card?
Can it read exFAT formatted microSD cards?
Anyone observed issues regarding audio over bluetooth?
(I know BT isn't exactly High End HiFi but the old Yoga 10 for some odd reason - most likely a driver issue which nobody cared to fix - sounded *much* worse with quite noticeably distortion while both my phone and a cheap noname tablet I have zero fidelity issues - no matter which of my bluetooth audio devices I tried aptX or not)
So to avoid buying this only to return it too I really would like to see if I can have my questions answered before buying it.
While I love the form factor and long running time the above issues are just two mayor dealbreakers to me. Bad audio quality = no joy listening to spotify, local MP3s etc. No NTFS or exFAT = no large movies.
My old noname android tablet really could use an upgrade so I'm really curious whether this can be it or I should look at the competition and sacrify form factor and battery runtime.
    Thanks in advance.
    EDIT:
If it's not supporting either NTFS or exFAT on the microSD have anyone tried ext3 and/or ext4?
I mean with Androids Linux roots it should be a nobrainer to support at least when it comes to royalties unlike NTFS or exFAT where there *might* be some issues with Microsoft.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks!
OK. Seems I should just stay clear of this and look elsewhere
Sony for sure I know support exFAT. I'm usure about Samsung. Odd it seems so hard to find out. File sizes of +4 GB should be taken for granted - it's not 199x anymore...
Oh well. Wonder whether to just go for one from the competition or perhaps just save the money and wait until 64 bit catches on. Rumors is that the next Nexus 8 will be 64 bit... (I really don't expect an answer on this)

  • How do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipod on the new itunes format?

how do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipod on the new itunes format?

I had the same question. Someone answered perfectly here https://discussions.apple.com/message/20575126#20575126
The answer was click View > Show sidebar. Devices and playlists will display in the left sidebar once again. Copy playlists into iPod as usual.

  • Is the new iTunes format differ each countries?

Is the new iTunes format differ each countries?

What problems are you having with finding your music and creating playlists and/or adding songs to them ? You can search your library via the search box at the top right of the iTunes screen, and if viewing the My Music part of your library you can use the button below the search box to change how you are viewing your library (by albums, songs etc)
To add a song to a playlist control-click the song and select 'add to playlist' from the popup. Or start dragging the song and a list of your playlists should appear on the left for you to drag it to. Or on the Playlists tab you can select the playlist on the left-hand bar, click 'Add To' towards the top right of the screen, and on the next screen drag songs to the right-hand list under the playlist name ; click Done when finished.
The current version of iTunes doesn't support the old layout, you would need to uninstall the current version (if your Mac's OS allows it) and reinstall a previous version.

  • HT1848 How do you transfer your purchases with the new iTunes format?

I'm trying to update my iPod but it keeps saying I have to transfer my purchases. But I don't know how to with the new iTunes format...

On iTunes 11 you can do it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, or I've changed the view on mine so that the old sidebar shows via View > Show Sidebar and I can then control-click the device (right-click if you are on windows) and select Transfer Purchases from the popup

  • Just my opinion about the new iTunes 7

    Hi everybody!
I have like thousands of you out there downloaded and installed iTunes 7 last week. Worked out fine, had no problems with my library. But there is one thing that I miss very much... The user friendly side of the previous iTunes.
I just miss so much that one click button in the upper right side of the application window. It was really easy to use, when you enter a CD, it was showing import. All you had to do was uncheck the songs you didn't want and boom, they were going on your computer very fast. Some of you will tell me that we can still do that... But the older version was way cooler than a PC like button. And it wasn't only for importing, it was for synching your iPod, and tons of other stuff.
Other things are like the Mini-Store, you have to guess where you can close it, took me 2 days before I found the hide mini-store in the view tab. At least they could have put an X just above the mini store window, it would have been way easier.
Those are just small examples of the bad sides of the new iTunes. But we can also check the good sides you know!
The new iPod window, I love it! Although it's not perfect, it's a major improvement from the settings window in the previous version.
The different views you can get for your songs. List, Albums or Album Art are really cool to check. It's more organized than the single list we had before.
For a small compromise, maybe Apple could put an option somewhere where we can put back the old user-friendly button all the while having the three views options in the View tab. Or they could even make the three buttons smaller by just putting one button and when we click on it, a small bubble appears under it where you have the three options. All the while leaving space for our beloved button in the upper right side of the app window.
Well, the new iTunes 7 has it's pros and cons, and for sure I was awaiting for more from Apple. But hey, nobody is perfect, and we can all change things once in a while! iTunes 7 won't be the last version of iTunes anyway. We can all be sure of that!

No.  You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

  • Question about the new i5/i7 processors

I have been wondering if anybody had a definitive answer as to whether the new i5 and i7 processors are the desktop chips or their mobile counterparts? I know previous gen imacs use mobile parts but I've heard conflicting reports about the new 27 inch imacs. Some people say they are using desktop parts now while others claim they are still mobile processors...does anybody here know? I can't seem to find the information because I'm not really a techie so I don't really understand intels system for identifying their processors. The reason I ask is I recently placed an order for the i5 imac, I was comparing some i5/i7 benchmarking tests and ultimately decided the i5 was more than up to the job...however, now I don't even know if I was comparing the right chips (I didn't know there were different versions of the i5 and i7). Also, I had some concern with the heat issue, from what I've read the i7 produces tremendous heat so I also factored that in to my decision. I know Apple makes quality stuff (I love my MBP) and they placed the GPU and CPU on opposite ends of the imac, AND it has 3 fans AND the back is basically a HUGE heatsink lol...but I still wonder if the heat will cause the i7 to have a shorter expected life than the i5?(which is also pretty hot I guess). I thought I had my mind made up but this is turning out to be a very confusing process for me. If heat will effect the life cycle with only a relatively small power boost I'll stick with the i5...but if the versions of the chips they are using are mobile or not going to have this problem than I don't know what to do lol. Also, could you replace the i5 with an i7 later on down the road? AHHHH....can somebody help I'm spending so much money here I don't want to make a mistake :/

thanks for the help everyone. After reviewing all the information I think I'm gonna go with the i7...it will be $180 for me because of a student discount so in the end I guess thats not too much to pay for the increased speed and hyper-threading (which I probably will see no benefit from now but down the road...who knows). I had to cancel my order for the i5 anyway because after going into the Apple store last night to fondle the 27 inch imacs (which I hadn't seen in person yet) I realized I did not like the new keyboard ( don't get me wrong its a nice product but I use the Adobe CS4 software for digital art and animation so so lacking a numerical keypad for keystroke shortcuts is a little impractical for me).
Since I had to cancel and reorder anyway I'm now thinking I may as well upgrade to the i7 and be done with the doubting my decision lol. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I will probably order today. Apparently the i5 and i7 have the same wattage so I guess if one will overheat the other will too so that kills that debate in my my mind.
BTW if anybody has not yet seen the 27 inch imacs in person yet they are behemoths...beautiful behemoths. I can't wait to have that much canvas space to paint in Photoshop.
    Thanks again everyone.

  • Question about the new format of iTunes

I have the new version of iTunes, but I want all of my music in the "Music" folder under "Library" - not the stuff I downloaded from CDs in "Music" under "Library" and the stuff I purchased in iStore in "Purchased" under "iTunes Store". I have a regular laptop with Windows XP on it, if that helps anyone at all. Is there some way I can fix it so all my music appears in the "Music" folder?
If anyone has an answer, please email me at [email protected]
    Thanks

    Your question is unclear.
If it is music, it shows under Music in Library.
This includes purchases and music from your own CDs.
    You cannot change this.
Purchased under iTunes store is a playlist. The songs are still in the library.

  • Question about the new iMac

Please Note: I am extremely sorry if this is placed in the wrong location. It says to post here if it doesn't fit the other categories.
Now I asked before about the Mac Mini, the features and etc... Well since I saw the August keynote and the new iMovie you guys presented, it made me want to start making the Mac as my new computer. The thing is, I am short on cash and have a few question between the First and Second versions.
    1. My new computer will probably have to last 5-7 years, and I need to know, will the cheapest iMac be able to actually go that far? I mean I have read how some mac's that were purchased about that time still run perfectly good today.
    2. Since Leopard will have bootcamp fully integrated and Windows can run at native speed, Will games like WoW (of course this is only an example, I know they have a mac version) run really good on it?
    3. Say I buy my Mac in a retailer such as Best Buy, how will I go about a Hard Drive upgrade? I saw you can upgrade the memory, but they mentioned nothing as to a Hard Drive upgrade.
    4. If I want to actually customize my mac (because if theres no way to upgrade in question 3...) can I do it by going to a Apple Store or do I have to order online?
    5. Would 1 GB of ram be good or will I have to upgrade later to 2 GB to run good?
    6. So in the longer run, would buying the 2.4 GHz Mac be better for a 5-7 year term or will the 2.0 GHz version do just as fine. (Please keep in mind that cash is hard to get... It might be until March until I purchase... This will give me an idea.)
I just want to make a good decision when buying a Mac and get rid of this trouble maker I have now.. Of course going with a Mac is already a good decision.
    Thanks and waits for reply.

    Hello darkpontiac
My you have lots of questions, so I'll cover as many as I can.
This is as good a place as any to ask about the iMac's.
Look at this link and you will see the you can have an iMac and make payments.
    "The Apple Store"
    1. I would buy the best from the upper end and Apple Care to get the longest life from it.
    2. I don't run WoW, but others have reported that it runs fine even on the Early Core Duo Intel iMac's.
    3. You can order a larger HD from Apple, look dow at "Configure-to-order options" in this link.
    Intel iMac Spec's
    4. Yes see #3 then up grade the ram yourself up to 4GB on the new models.
    5. 2 GB of ram is great for most users, the current is shipped with 1GB and you can upgrade in steps of 2, 3 and 4 GB later if you wish.
    6. Yes
Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I'm printing out some vacation photo's from iPhoto for the wife, jumping to e-mail back and forth with daughter, downloading some new CD's I just bought and replying to your post all at the same time on this 20 month old Early Core Duo with 2GB of ram. It's not having any trouble at all playing my loud classic rock with iTunes, but I'm working like h...!
    Hope that Helps!
