Question about units of measure

HI Experts,
I have a scenario -there is a raw material A ( electrical wire), we  purchase it by a rounding number of roll.a roll for 200 MM. And we can't make two short lines for a long line. For example, we need to use 56 MM material A to make a production B. For 3 PCs B,we need a roll. And when we run MRP for product 30 PCs of B, it caculate as 30*56MM/200MM = 8.4,and get a rounding number as 9 rolls. But actually it need 30PCs/(3PCs/roll)=10 rolls. So,it can't suffice the requirement. And I find 2 methods to solve the problem.
1、Use 'Component scrap'  of BOM's item.
2、maitance the quanity of BOM's item  as 0.33 roll
But these 2 methods are not satisfy our user. Can anyone tell me a best solution for this problem?thanks.
thanks very much.
best regards.

Thank you very much,I'm sorry for I do not describe my problem very clearly.
The scenario is actually like this:the material A is an electrical wire and it is very valuable,As we can only  purchase it by a rounding number of roll.a roll for 200 MM. and we can 't use 2 short wires connect as a long wire, such as when we need a material A 50MM,we can only cut a wire which is longer than 50MM  to 50MM for using. And we can't connect 2 wire for using.
Then we need to use the material A to make some products such as finished product B and C,D.The different finished product B,C,D need a different length of material A.take B need 30MM,C need 35MM,D need 85MM as an example.when we make 4 PCs of material D,we need to purchase 2 roll material A.If we using BOM'component scrap,or using "200 mm = 1 roll 1roll = 3pc ",the whole roll is consumed. But in fact after production 4 material D,we still left 2(200mm - 285MM) = 2*30mm material A.It means that we still left 2  piece material A long as 30MM,we can't use it to make material C,but we can use it to make materil B.Is there only solution for this problem?thanks
thanks very much!
best regards!

  • Question about unit conversion for BAPI_PO_CREATE1...

    Hello Experts,
How do we bypass/supress the unit conversion in BAPI 'BAPI_PO_CREATE1'? Because what is happening
right now is for example, I input in 88CV it will convert it to 'EA' as this is defined as the
PO unit of measure. I want the 88 CV to be as it is.
Also, I am manually populating the net price(net_price) with my own value as I do not want to get
the net price from the info record. But it comes back as 0. I populate the 'X' fields as to let you know.

This conversion takes place due to SPRO setting

  • Urgent--about unit of measure

    Hi all,
where do we find commercial measurement  used in SAP(commercial unit of measure), dimension description,Technical unit.
correct answers will be rewarded suitably.

Transaction code <b>CUNI</b>. Choose <i>"Unit Measurement"</i> on initial Screen to display Technical, Commercial units and Descriptions.

  • I want to ask the question about phasor measurement.

I want to ask the question about phasor measurement.the first one is that how can I accomplish the sychronized sampling with GPS?The other question is that how can I adjust the sampling rate for DAQ when the system frequency alter continuously.(if I used the DFT,due to the altering of frequency,I can't get the completed waveform)"

Synchronising DAQ with GPS depends on the DAQ sampling rate. If the rate is higher than 2 Hz you can sample the 1PPS pulse of your GPS receiver together with your data.
You change the sampling rate with the AI Clock Config.vi. You cannot do this on the fly so you must stop DAQ with AI Control.vi reconfigure the sampling rate and then start it again.

  • Question about Measure folders Items (dimensions & measures)

    Hi All,
I have tow question about measure folder
1-     How can I make measure folder contain both dimensions & measures?
         Like this image http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/bi/r10122/images/d1t10202.gif
2-     When I create measure folder and add some measures in it, when I query cube these measures still displayed out of folders how can I make all measures and dimensions displayed only on folders like the above image ?
    Regards,
    Gado

    Hi Andy,
There should be no difference in functionality for these two kinds of folders. You can perform all the operations on these two kinds of folders without any difference, for example, delivery messages, create view settings/rules and etc.

  • Question about Measuring Point / Couter

    Dear PM Guru,
While creating my Maintenance Plan with tcode -IP42 , there's counter automatically appear in the plan.
I under this counter is from measuring point.
I am confuse with the Counter in all this tcode IP41 , IP42 & IP01.
    My question are :
Is this measuring point / counter master data or technical object ?
Where's the relationship for counter in Maintenance plan ?
Any impact the counter with the cycles used in the item line?
What 's the different between IP01 vs IP41 vs IP42?
Appreciate your input from any PM Guru.
    TQ

    Hi Venu,
    Thank for your reply.
Understand that In Performance-based Maintenance Plan, SAP automatically links Counter to the Maintenance Plan.
After my personal investigation , fully understand that only performance based maintenance plan are using counter. Normal Maintenance Order will not use counter as Master data.
    Example Performance Based Plans :
When the measuring point counter reaches 3000 -1st  order should get generated
2nd one at 6000, 3 rd one at 9000 etc...
    Or
    1. Single Cycle with counter -- Ex . Maintenance every 3000 hrs
    2. Strategy Cycle plans.. -- Ex. Maintenance every 3000 hrs and every 6000hrs
    3. Multiple Counter Plans..-- Ex Maintenance every 2month  or 1year..
    Process Flow.
Create equipment with suitable measuring point (inc annual estimate) with Tcode IK01 create measuring point
Create initial counter reading measurement document
Create task list (optional for single-cycle plan)
    Create counter based maintenance plan
    Scheduling maintenance plan (IP10/IP30)
    Create measurement documents periodically
    Little Question to ask.
    1) Is this the SAP standard flow ?
Please correct me if i am wrong.
    Thank you.

  • AffineTransform - Is there a way to glean units of measurement for pixels?

    Assuming I get a pointer to a java.awt.geom.AffineTransform from:
    java.awt.geom.AffineTransform CurTransform = ((java.awt.Graphics2D)this.getMainFrame().getGraphics()).getDeviceConfiguration().getDefaultTransform();
Assuming I've gotten the right AffineTransform... How do I get, or can I get, the scaling factor between horizontal pixels and vertical pixels for the current screen (or whatever device). In other words I want to place components... buttons, textboxes, etc. in a dialog box so that they are "square". i.e. 10 units in x look on the screen equal to 10 units in y.
Once I know what the "square pixel scale factor" is I can then worry about making the units relative to whatever font size.
This question is usually posed as "How do I get dialog units?". I haven't done that because of the "legacy problems" associated with what most people think dialog units come from. It is true that way back when dialog units were derived from a textmetrics ONLY, but unless I'm mistaken, Charles Petzold, was describing something that could only be gotten that way at that time (circa 1990).... The width of the fixed system font by the height of the fixed system font ended up being as close to a unit that was 8 units high looked like 8 units wide in the screen. The object of the exercise is to most importantly get units of measurement that translate to pixels and look "square" on the screen. Secondarily, but not unimportant, is to be a unit that has some relevance to the current font size. It's been a long time dialog units in windows maybe a 2:1 ratio. I made my own cDialogUnits so long ago I can't remember what the "standard windows" dialog unit is. In windows I can very easily get the screen dpi x and y, I think it's a devicecontext but Java's "devicecontext" only gives one dimension of the dpi?
Also this query is mute if I was "painting" on a device. The units are for pixels NOT points and are (mostly) for placing controls on the screen. I am aware of and have used the various addPreferredGap and setAutoCreateContainerGaps available in a GroupLayout... Great gizmos but, still dialog units would be very handy for setting the prefered width of a textbox/label with too much text. (Note: dialog units are NOT for calculating the height of text... )
I did search the sun forums for an answer first... It might be here I just didn't find it. It seems to be a question either avoided like the plague or considered a dumb question in Java.

    This might be OK?
BE AWARE!! This is NOT a painting gizmo. It is used in conjunction with the Layout gizmos. It drives me crazy that the Layout gizmos have "default" gaps and spacers of some kind and yet ALL the tutorials immediately and unabashedly trash any "device independence" by mixing in pixel measurements... Not to mention I don't like the size of the gaps and spacing provided with the Layout gizmos anyway.
Does anyone know if this will fail? I am aware of the caveats provided... "Information about the device is only as good as has been provided." However if there is bad information in the device info I doubt using these units will do anything much different that the end user experiences with the errant device anyway.
AGAIN... This is NOT a painting gizmo. It's a helper when Laying out controls usually in conjunction with a Layout and only for spaces and gaps.

  • Unit of measure in availability overview

    Hi
The question is about the possibility to change the unit of measure displayed in the availability overview during a sales order creation as you can do in transaction MD04.
The problem is that if you set a quantity in the sales order in a alternative unit of measure (for instance Boxes) and if you check the availability, the systems shows the quantities in the base unit of measure (e.g. Pieces), so it is quite complicated to make the conversion, because you do not have the information on the screen.
    Has anybody solved that issue?
    thanks a lot!

    Hi,
Check in material master.U can go to aditional data and give as box and save the material then it will ask u how many units for a box. Then check this hope it solves ur problem.

  • Report Data in to two alternate Unit of Measures

    Hi
We Implemented "How to Report Data in to two alternate Unit of Measure". I have a question
1 Could we maintain Two alternate Unit of Measures for one Base Unit of Measure?
For example if Base unit is EA ( Each) we need to maintain this as CAR( Carton) and PAL ( Pallet).
    Thanks
    Naga

    Hi Naga,
Are you talking about Qty Unit conversion. We can surely maintain CAR,EA,PAL and all. The Numerator and Denoms are maintained in T006. And accordingly the conversion happens.
Apart from that you can have your own customized Qty conversion using Transaction 'RSUOM'.
Lemme me know if this helps.

  • Alternate unit of measurement

    Hi
Our client wants to use alternate unit of measurement from Square Feet to PCS. The conversion factor is not constant, we have aggreed to use an average conversion factor. Stock posting will be done in square feet and PCS will be used in reporting only.
Question is is there a way to avoid user from entering PCS in stock posting transactions (GR GI for production purchase or sale orders) by mistake. PCS should not be allow for inventory posting. It should be only for display.
    Regards
    Abhishek Rai

You can restrict the use of certain alternative units only with userexits, which can be quite messy, as you have to make sure that it is not taken in inventory managment, in sales order, production order .....
Have you thougt about using proportion units?

  • Material to Material ( diff. Unit of Measure )

    Dear Gurus,
I have a material that undergoes a repacking and come out in diffrent unit of measures, i have to do a transfer of the existing material to the new materia which will have a new unit of measure.
In transferposting it is possible only if both the material have the same stockkeeping unit.
Please advice how to go about it.
    Best Regards,
    Sat

    Hi,
There is another thread asking the same question.
Unfortunately the answer is the same.
You cannot use a 309 movement if the base UOM is different.
You can use two other movement to replicate this (write off one material and write ON the other) the financial postings should balance out correctly but you need to decide which movement types you want to use (different GLs will be updated depending on if you want to write them off and on, or consume one material and "reverse consume" the other with a 201 and 202 scenario)

  • New Unit of measures & ISO codes

    Hello,
We are currently trying to create some new unit of measure in our system which will be used in QM module and are very specific. For this reason, we can't find any corresponding ISO code in our SAP system. SO we have a few question about this point :
    1) Could you tell us which UoM is ISO or not among the above list ? For ISO UoM, could you give us the corresponding 3 digits code (field T006I- ISOCODE) we will need to use to create them into our system?
    o   AE :                                       Amylogram Equivalent
    o   °BX :                                     Brix Degree
    o   Cfu/m3:                              Colony Forming Unit per m3
    o   IU/kg :                                 International Unit per Kilogram
    o   meq/kg :                            Milli Equivalent per Kilogram (WHO-TEQ)
    o   µg/100g :                            Microgram per 100 grams
    o   mL/100g :                           Milliliter per 100 grams
    o   pg WHO-TEQ/g :             Picogram per Gram
    o   g/mL :                                  Gram per Milliliter
    2) Is it possible to add some new ISO codes in this SAP standard table (T006C)? On your side, do you update the content of this standard table (update of the content of the standard table) and dispatch it to your customer?
    3) Do you have a website or SAP transaction referencing the entire official ISO codes you've registered?
In this website link(http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SI/UnitofMeasurerelatedsettingsinSAP), you are redirecting us to an ISO reference website in part I.2.(http://www.unece.org/etrades/codesindex.htm ) which is not working anymore
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Service Master - Unit of Measure

    Hi all -
had a question about services and alternate unit of measure. On a service master, its not possible to specify alternate UoM (like we do in material master). What is the process to say create a service in minutes and create a PO in hours ?
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi,
In service master we cant able to maintaint the AUM,
But the service maintainnsce on hourly or daily we have to decide.

  • Some questions about a Time Capsule

    Hi!!
I just have a few questions about a Time Capsule, but first let me explain the backgroud to my questions.
I live in a 2 floor house(including a basement) and my bedroom is downstairs. My parents currently have a desktop PC connected to our wireless router and our printer. Me and my step-father both have 13 inch MacBook Pros, and he uses the Mac like a basic computer, so the equipment connected to our PC is good for him. I, on the other hand, use my Mac, iPad and iPhone to their fullest potential. I am a SUPER MEGA NERD when it comes to computers, so I plan on making my bedroom an amazing office at the same time. So I want an AirPrint Enabled printer in my bedroom (Under 100$$) along with a Time Capsule to back up my information, because everyday I look around in the backdoor of my Mac alot, and if I jack anything up (And I cant handle the problem) I would like to restore my Mac to a previous version. So here are my questions:
    1) My bedroom is right underneath our router, so i get GREAT Wi-Fi in my room. If I get a Time Capsule, can I use it in my room to extend my Wi-Fi, and how would that work? Will it extend my wifi under the same name, because I would like my own Wi-Fi (Titled to what I want with my own password)
    2) If I have to create a NEW Wi-Fi network, how would I do that?
    3) Would I need to connect my new printer directly to my ROUTER, or could I connect it to the TIME CAPSULE?
If you don't understand what I'm trying to ask (Even though I feel like it's self-explanatory)
ONE question about the PRINTER: Do any of you have any recommendations for an AirPrint Enabled printer under 100$? Even under-150$ would be okay.
    THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!

everyday I look around in the backdoor of my Mac alot, and if I jack anything up (And I cant handle the problem) I would like to restore my Mac to a previous version. So here are my questions:
Don't just depend on TM.. use a disk image type utility.. either one of the Mac tools, SuperDuper, CCC, Chronosync or even a linux boot cd (if you have a cd/dvd drive still or via usb can boot) a great tool is Clonezilla.. it will do basically any computer, Mac, Linux, Windows.. and since it boots into its own OS can restore a computer in a flash. Then you can add the incremental changes from TM.
Actually I am surprised you get good wireless as usually directly above or below a router is often the worst spot. Time Capsule cannot extend the wireless of any other router than Apple.. it is a special system and only Apple can join the club. It has bad effect though, if you set the TC to extend wireless it turns off ethernet ports.. which is hugely dumb.
The best arrangement is ethernet to the upstairs.. or EOP adapters. If not then a wireless router that matches the existing unit will generally be better than mixing apple and non-apple.
    2) If I have to create a NEW Wi-Fi network, how would I do that?
    3) Would I need to connect my new printer directly to my ROUTER, or could I connect it to the TIME CAPSULE?
You create a new wireless network by selecting manually the wireless channel and use different wireless name, ssid and security. There are 3 available channels on 2.4ghz.. your existing router will use one or two.. depending on if the setting is 20mhz or 40mhz.. so you need to manually set everything and not use auto.
TC is slow on 2.4ghz cf 5ghz and there are many more channels at 5ghz but not everything can use it.. iphone for instance is 2.4ghz only . whereas ipad can use 5ghz.. most full computers now can use 5ghz.
Buy a wireless network printer. Or alternatively an ethernet network would be also ok but now are more expensive than wireless ones. Network printers are not much more than straight USB and work much better.
I do not use airprint so have nothing to offer.. find the best HP model in your budget.. but others may have had more experience.. I use ethernet connected b/w laser business type HP.. they work great.. but airprint is too recent an innovation for me.
