Question about using a new computer with ipod

i was using my ipod nano on my computer and it was working fine. than we found out that we needed to get a new computer. so i plugged in my ipod to charge the battery than i downloaded itunes.(on the new computer) i didn't download any ipod software. at first it didn't do anything. than it recognized my ipod with all the music. i didn't have to make copies of songs, and i didn't have to download any ipod software. how come i didn't get the message about it being linked to a different library? (not that i'm complaining, i'm just wondering)
thanks

Is your iPod set to update manually? In that case you don't get the warning that it is linked to another library. Also you don't have to have the iPod Updater installed to use your iPod, you only need it to update or restore your iPod's software.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.

  • I cant download new music to my ipod.  I am now using a new computer with Windows 8.

I cant download new music to my ipod.  I am now using a new computer with Windows 8.  Itunes is now on the new computer.  New songs apear there and will play on the computer.

I plugged my ipod into the computer, it "interacted" briefly, but when finished, the new songs were not on the ipod.  (It is an older ipod I have had for years).  I just read on a different post how to access the latest itunes program update.  I did that, then plugged the ipod into the computer again.  The ipod is now real busy interacting with the computer a lot longer.  Maybe that fixed it.  I will let you know after it is finished.  Thanks for the help!

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

  • How do I use a new computer with same old iPod?

Before I knew about the problem of switching computers I purchased some new songs from iTunes on my new computer, but using my old login. It allowed me to purchase and upload the songs to my new computer, but it won't let me put them onto the iPod.(?!#@) In retrospect, I suppose I should've created a new iTunes user account for the new computer, but since I didn't, does anyone know how I can get these songs onto my iPod? Or am I just out the 25 bucks?
Going forward, should I create a new user account for my new computer? If so, how do I do that? I just want to be able to purchase and upload songs and transfer them to the iPod. There must be a way. Thanks for any tips/advice.

I figured it out. I just needed to "authorize" my new computer.

  • New computer with iPod Touch

I recently bought a new Gateway laptop with windows 7, and I installed iTunes. When I connected my iPod Touch(which has many songs), iTunes only displayed about 30 songs. I want to keep the songs from my iPod on there, without having to re-import from all my CDs. Is there any way that I can sync my songs back with iTunes? I have used programs such as "Pod to PC" to try to do this, however it had a limit of 100 songs. Any programs like this that are unlimited and FREE would be appreciated.
Any questions you have ask me, this may be a confusing question.

I used a program called DiskAid and it fixed it.

  • Syncing new computer with ipod

I have a bunch of songs on my ipod from a previous computer. Now that I have a new computer, do I HAVE to erase and sync my ipod? Is there a way I can keep or transfer my songs from my ipod to my new computer so I can just re-add them? I don't want to loose all my songs that I have! Is there anything I can do? Please help! Thanks.

so if some were not itunes purchases, i would have to basically copy the songs to a cd (from the old computer) and import it to my itunes library? thanks, that was very helpful

  • Question about using EM on machine with 2 active instances

    Good morning,
As a self training exercise I've created 2 instances on one machine. The machine is both, server and client. I'm running Windows XP SP2, Oracle 11gR2 (as seen in my user handle) and using IE7 for EM.
The URL for the first instance is:
https://Oracle2Day1.john.local:1158/emThe URL for the second instance is:
https://Oracle2Day1.john.local:5500/emIf I log into one and only one instance then everything works just fine.
When I log into the first instance, then log into the second instance and, switch back to the tab of the first instance, I find myself back at the "User name/Password/Connect As" page, I don't even get the page saying that I've been logged out of the first instance.
Additionally, if at that point, I switch back to the tab of the second instance, I find myself at the "User name/Password/Connect As" page for that instance too.
Basically, whenever I log into both instances and switch from one instance tab to the other, it brings me back to the log in page for both instances.
If I log into a single instance and do not attempt to log into the second instance then everything works fine.
Any ideas as to why I cannot be logged into both instances at the same time ? (I can be logged in both instances simultaneously using SQL*Plus without any problems) Is there something I can do to correct this behavior or is this "normal" ?
    Thank you for your help,
    John.

    Hello Amardeep,
    >
If he opens the 2 EM consoles in 2 separate browsers, shouldn't it work ?
    >
I tried that. I even tried different browsers and had all kinds of problems. Nothing worked but, in order to tell you about the problems I would run into when doing that, I tried it again using IE7 and, this time, I made sure I had a separate process for each copy of IE7 (not just a separate thread)....
    LOW and BEHOLD... it worked!!!
I can do whatever I want in both instances without any problems... smooth as silk.
I spent a day and half trying to figure out what the problem was. The strange thing was that when I had just finished installing the second instance, everything worked fine. I could be in both instances at the same time. After I rebooted the machine, it would no longer work... so I started looking everywhere for the reason why it broke... I'm guessing that when I rebooted my machine, (which is not particularly fast and, less so when there are two instances running), I tried too soon (it takes my machine over 30 minutes just to initialize both instances) and that contributed to all of the problems I experienced. I probably did not try two separate browser processes before each instance had time to fully initialize.
    Problem solved.
    Solution:
*1*. Make sure the instance is fully initialized (wait until CPU drops to 1 to 4% and stays there for a few minutes)
*2*. Access each instance using a different browser process (make sure the browser window isn't simply another thread of a previously started browser instance)
    Amardeep, thank you :)
    John.

  • Building new computer with X-Fi without troub

This is a thread about building a new computer with X-Fi without troubles (crackling / popping issues). Let us discuss here motherboards and configurations, which are guaranteed to be trouble free. I hope some sort of FAQ has to be created about the subj.
As I know ATI chipsets works well with Athlon 64 and P4.
Did you test new 965 chipset from Intel with Core 2 Duo CPU and X-Fi?

    alexs3d2 wrote:
Although I have no experience myself with the X-Fi, I am pretty certain that you will be right gong for an intel-chipset solution. I have never heard of problems with SoundBlasters on intel chipsets, almost everyone with the popping issues uses a nForce motherboard (and older SBs had problems with VIA).
So untrue... many with Intel boards with crackling. The nforce chips has nothing to do with crackling, the nforce chips had the re-boot issue where the pc didnt find the x-fi or just re-booted before windows even started. Crackling isnt a chipset issue, sure it gets worse with some chipsets, but its there. Yes ATI and ULI chipsets are reported to be crackle-free but that isnt completly true either, they are deminished to some extent. But its still there, you just dont hear it as good...
And actually there are "Crackle-free" X-FI?s out there...You just have to be lucky, and choose games carefully if you dont want crackling. Some games are worse some are better. Prey works great with my x-fi, BF2 doesnt...Message Edited by CracklingLooser on 08-08-2006 02:47 PM

  • Question about using new battery in old Powerbook

I have a pre-intel Powerbook G4, and the battery is pretty much toast (lasts about 15 minutes now). I have ordered a new battery for it, and I have this question about using it:
Am I smarter to keep the new strong battery out of the PB most days (as I usually work with it plugged in at home) and just pop it in when I know I will be out surfing on batteries? Or is it just as good living in my laptop 24/7 and only occasionally being called upon to do its job?
    Current bad Battery Information below:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 1144
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 1115
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12387
    Cycle Count: 281
    thanks folks, Shereen

Hi, Shereen. Every Powerbook battery wants to be used — drained and then recharged — at least every couple of weeks. If you've always used your Powerbook on AC power nearly all the time, and not followed that pattern of discharging and recharging the battery every week or two, it's possible that your use habits have shortened the lifespan and prematurely diminished the capacity of your old battery. Of course it's also possible that your battery is merely old, as a battery's capacity also diminishes with age regardless of how it's used. You didn't say how old the battery is in years, so this may or may not be an issue. I mention it only because it can be an issue.
For general information on handling a battery for the longest possible lifespan, see this article. My advice on the basis of that article and long experience reading these forums is that it would be OK to do as you propose, but I doubt that you'd derive any significant benefit from it. You would still want to be sure of putting the new battery through a charge/discharge cycle every week or two, even if you didn't have a reason to use the Powerbook away from home or your desk, because sitting unused outside the computer is just as bad for a battery as sitting unused inside it. And you should never remove the battery from your computer when it's completely or almost completely discharged and let it sit that way any longer than a day or two.
