Question about Warranty extension on Satellite A300-1EI

Good day.
I need some information and assistance please.
I bought a laptop around mid September 2008 in Saudi Arabia. (Jarir Bokstore). The store had a promotion whereby you get the standard one year international warranty BUT they give you a further extension of a year (hence, 2 years in total).
I intended on purchasing an extended warranty for a three year period. I was told by the salesman that I can activate my "gift" warranty and later purchase another extendable warranty for a total of 4 year international coverage.
I registered the given warranty and it appears on the toshiba warranty portal.
However, when I returned to the store to purchase a further warranty extension I was told that you cannot register more than one warranty.
I found this strange and therefore did not purchase the additional extended warranty yet. I need to know whether this is actually true or will I still be able to purchase an extended warranty again. Seems I run into a brick wall when I ask the salemen . . .thought I would try the forum instead.
I need to get information from a reliable and trustworthy source.
The other news they also gave me is that they are awaiting news from Toshiba regarding the same subject.
Kindly assist.
Thank you and eagerly awaiting a reply.
Lukman

Hi
As far as I know all Toshiba notebooks are covered by warranty for one year (12 month).
If you would register your notebook on the Toshiba European page you would get additional one year warranty; in total 2 years warranty.
> The store had a promotion whereby you get the standard one year international warranty BUT they give you a further extension of a year (hence, 2 years in total).
The additional one year of warranty is not a gift from the shop. You will get this additional year of warranty always if you would register the notebook. It has nothing to do with the place where you have purchase this notebook.
So now some words regarding your warranty extensions;
First of all you have to register your notebook on the Toshiba European page.
This registration will enable the additional second year of warranty. (as mentioned above)
Now if you want you can purchase further warranty packages.
Toshiba provides different packages and in your case I would recommend checking this Toshiba European page for more details:

  • Question about warranty extension

    Hi
I got my satellite pro from UK, but I am not residing there. I am trying to buy warranty extension, but all the sites require UK credit card address. I contacted reseller in Egypt who said that I have to buy it from UK not Egypt, is it true? and how can I buy one?

    Hi Adham
As far as I know you can buy warranty extension in the country where you have bought your notebook. Maybe try to contact Authorized service Partner in UK and ask if you can buy it there. Money transfer should not be problem and the small box with warranty they can send you per post.

  • Satellite M70-340: Question about warranty if I buy in Russia and move to Australia

I'd like to buy notebook Satellite M70-340 here in Russia. Next month I'm going to move to Australia. What about the warranty in this case?
Will I have to pay if some trouble occurs?
How can I recognise a laptop which is officially sold (= i mean legally delivered and has a worldwide warranty)?
Thanx a lot for your answer!

    Hi
I dont know what you mean with officially sold and I hope you will buy notebook in PC store and not on the street. As far as I know every new notebook has one year international warranty but if you will stay longer you can buy warranty extension. It must be buying by authorized service partner in your country.
If you have troubles in Australia go to service partner and they will check if the unit is stolen or official soled. After that it can be repaired. As I said, contact Authorized Toshiba service partner in Russia and ask for warranty extension.

  • Warranty extension for Satellite U400

    Hello!
I have a question about possibility to extend warranty for my laptop.
On the official web-ste there is information about my device and it;s written over there:
    "Standard Warranty
Coverage: International Days:365 Expiration Date: 2010-05-25
    Extended Warranty
Servicename: International Warranty Extension from 1 to 2 years Service Coverage: International Days: 730 Expiration Date: 2011-05-25 "
It's written that I have already an extended warranty, but i've just register the standard warranty of my new laptop!
Anyway, the question is: can i buy a warranty extansion in my cause and what type of extension i have to buy (from 2 to 4, from 2 to 3 e.t.c.)
    Thank you in advance!
P.S. And one more question: my friend is going to buy Toshiba Satellite A500-1F2. The same question: which kind of warranty extension is he able to purchase?
    Thank you!
    Best regards,
    Dmitry

    Hi
Usually all notebooks are covered by standard warranty for a 1 year.
If you register the notebook on the Toshiba page, you will get an additional warranty year (altogether 2 years).
I think this is what you can see on the Toshiba page.
I think you can extend the warranty too.
    You have to look here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Peripherals & Services -> Services -> Warranty extensions
There you will have to check available Warranty Extensions for your notebook model.

    Hello
Im wondering that you want to upgrade to 8GB RAM... Normally 3 or 4GB should be more as enough for all applicaions at the moment.
Anyway, as Jayjay said its not possible to upgrade to 8GB. A friend of me has a Satellite A300 and the user manual says that it can upgrade to 4GB or 2GB (depending on the chipset). So if you have a PM965/GM965/RS690M chipset you can upgrade it to 4GB. Otherwise you can only use up to 2GB.
I have upgraded my Toshiba notebook with Kingston RAM. This is high quality RAM and has a good compatibility. I never had problems with such modules.
    Check this!!
    Bye

  • Satellite P300D-10v - Question about warranty

    HI EVERYBODY
I have these overheating problems with my laptop Satellite P300D-10v.
I did everything I could do to fix it without any success..
I get the latest update of the bios from Toshiba. I cleaned my lap with compressed air first and then disassembled it all and cleaned it better.(it was really clean insight though...)
BUT unfortunately the problem still exists...
So i made a research on the internet and I found out that most of Toshiba owners have the same exactly problem with their laptop.
Well i guess this is a Toshiba bug for many years now.
Its a really nice lap, cool sound (the best in laptop ever) BUT......
So I wanted to make a question. As i am still under warranty, can i return this laptop and get my money back or change it with a different one????
If any body knows PLS let me know.
    chears
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I have already found you other threads.
    Regarding the warranty question;
If there is something wrong with the hardware then the ASP in your country should be able to help you.
The warranty should cover every reparation or replacement.
But I read that you have disasembled the laptop at your own hand... hmmm if you have disasembled the notebook then your warrany is not valid anymore :(
I think this should be clear for you that you can lose the warrany if you disasemble the laptop!
By the way: you have to speak with the notebook dealer where you have purchased this notebook if you want to return the notebook
The Toshiba ASP can repair and fix the notebook but you will not get money from ASP.

  • Question about HDD upgrade on Satellite M40X-184?

    Hello
I want to ask if there is an option to insert a new hdd in my toshiba. As far as I know there is no official support for this??
There is an access to the place where the disk is placed on the side of notebook. S
    o my question is
    1. is it possible to place a new disk (faster and bigger)
    2. is it possible without loosing warranty
    3. what disks do you suggest
    Thanks Szczepaan

    Hello Hinni
Unfortunately there is no public document about that and those information has Toshiba service partner or some independent PC and notebook service specialized for upgrade.
I can just tell you that Toshiba directly dont support hardware upgrade and I have noticed that hardware upgrade is cuts into three areas:
    - user upgrade (memory)
    - dealer upgrade (HDD)
    - service upgrade (WLAN card, BT module)
If you want to exchange the HDD alone take old out and notice all data on the sticker and talk with your local dealer if you want to buy the same but with more capacity. You can test new one and if there is some problem (not recognized by system) you can send it back any time.

  • Question about CPU upgrade for Satellite A30-104?

    Hello,
My Satellite A30-104 has recently come to the end of its warranty, and having had to open up the heatsink for cleaning and seeing that the CPU was accessible, I wonder if there is any (likely) scope for upgrading it.
The processor is a Celeron (Northwood) 2.6GHz. I'm not looking for more grunt, I'd prefer a lower-power chip, though the much larger L2 cache of a Pentium 4 is also desirable. I'd be very grateful if anyone could advise whether any upgrades are likely available, and if so which chips would be appropriate? If I can give any more useful spec information, please ask.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the reply -- and sorry it went ignored so long, it turns out I hadn't configured my email watches correctly :(
I appreciate that it's really a job for a technician, and I don't want to brick a perfectly good computer, but I think its EOL is not far off anyway so I'm prepared to be a little more invasive than before.
I know that I can get at the CPU, and I know the basic precautions for physically tampering with PC internals.
What I'm first of all concerned about is this: if I replace the CPU, and it doesn't function with the laptop, can this damage other parts of the system such that it'd no longer work by replacing the original?
The Celeron puts out a great deal of heat (all the time) but isn't it fair to assume that a P4-M will be less hot?

  • Question about warranty period

How long about the warranty period of mother board? (notebook model: Satellite L305-S5896)
I use it only 1 year and 4 months, now it can't power on.
The adaptor is ok, so I think the problem is the mother board.

You can contact Toshiba Tech suport and give them the serial number located on the bottom of you PC, They will tell you if it is still covered under a waranty.

  • Question about new BIOS on Satellite L20-182

    Hi :)
I've got one question: may I install new BIOS 2.20 on my Satellite L20-182 model no. PSL2XE?
If I can't, why users PSL2X can do this? Are there so many differences on both models?
Greetings and sorry for my English - I'n not the best :)

    Hi,
just for explanation: the bios you mentioned is the right bios for the machine. Toshiba is not writing the full model number since there is a range of model numbers of the same model, so dont worry, they are not different. Maybe the last digit but this is not important for you.
Why I am knowing this? Because many manufacturers are doing this and I was many times confused when updating bioses from another manufacturer...

  • Odd Question about file extensions

Hello, I have a strange question that I cannot seem to fix on my own.
The other week I was messing around in my Utilities folder and I was clicking on some of the applications contained in that folder.
When I closed out some of the programs that I had opened I noticed that all the files on my computer now have a suffix at the end of their names. Everything.
So before an application would say, TechTool Pro 4 it now says TechTool Pro 4.app
    TextEdit.app, etc etc
I know this is a minor thing but I would like to find a way to remove this suffix that I inadvertently applied to everything on my laptop.
    Thanks for the help

See if this helps. Go to Finder choose Preferences then click Advanced. See if the *Show all file extensions* box is checked. If it is uncheck it.

  • Can't Decide on a PC and Question about warranty.

Hi. After seeing ALL that is available to me HP is the one. That is where the problem starts. I know the one I pick will be customized. But do I get the HP ENVY Phoenix h9-1400t Desktop PC or the HP ENVY h8-1520t Desktop PC? I will be doing the average stuff plus: editing photos, movies, burning CD/DVD and looking into gaming (very very new at gaming).
I have a budget my wife wont let me go over.So getting either PC will not be 100% to my likings. In order to get it 100% I will have to get a LIGHTSCRIBE BURNER and a 120GB SSD to add to the PC. Getting the SSD installed from HP puts me over budget and I will not get the extra burner. If I add those two thing to the PC myself will it  VOID out the warranty?
We will also be adding 2 more to the house. Laptop, Ultrabook or Tablet. I don't know which. Everything will need a recovery/boot. Optical drive may not be on all. What should I use; Dedicated Flash/Thumb drive for each or External hard drive(can all three be put on one) or should I make arrangements to put all on DVDs.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

To my knowledge, lighscribe is an outdated technology. There are not many Optical Drive manufacturers with lightscribe now.
Adding 128GB SSD will not void warranty.
Is is recommended to have a seperate 16GB/32GB flash drives depending on the recommendation of the system for keeping the recovery image.
I would recommend flash drives than disks.
    I am an HP employee.

    Vidya

  • Got a question about warranty...

hello, I've purchased an ipad 16G wifi about 10 months ago. I don't know why but now I see half of the screen in color changing lines. the touch works perfect in all of the screen. when I take a snapshot I can see the screen perfectly, w/o the colored lines on it, which means it's a screen problem (restoring didn't help).
I've checked the serial and I still got warranty, but the problem is, I don't have the proof of purchase with me... can I get a copy of that from apple? on mail or fax?

You don't need proof of purchase.
An offical product with a recognised serial number IS proof of purchase.
The owner of any Apple product within warranty (You) is entitled to warranty service on said product.
    End of story.
They HAVE to accomodate you with or without proof of purchase.
Call Apple support, request a repair.
    Quote the serial number.
Describe the problem, and they will arrange a repair/replacement for you.
    Regards,
    John
