Question about WiFi with a Satellite Pro 4200

Has anyone already connect a wifi card on a Satellite Pro (W98)? Please let me know type of PCMCIA, etc ... Alternatively wired connection to Lan.
Thanks

Hi
As far as I know you can use any types of PCMCIA WiFi card on your unit.
Sometimes you have to install the drivers or any Utilities from the PCMICIA Wireless card manufacturers. Please check some websites in Google. There you can find many attractive offers for WiFi cards.

  • Question about issues with display - MacBook Pro.

So, recently, my cat jumped onto the keyboard while I was working. Ever since, I have been unable to get the display sized to fit into the screen. Even when I got to the display menu and alter the resolution, the image remains stretched. I have to push my cursor to the top and bottom of the frame to access the dock (which is not set to hiding) or the top bar. Does anyone know what caused this, or how I can fix it???

    Hi m,

  • Problems with disk drive assembly Satellite pro 4200

I have problems with a Satellite pro 4200.
The Notbook reads no more disks. The drive assembly I exchanged ready, however did not function. The drive assembly is addressed, but it is to be read not possible disks or formatted. Also a Bios update is not possible, since the drive assembly reads no more disks.

    Hi Eltgen
Sorry but it is not easy to say what the problem is on this way. If I understand you right you have built in a new FDD because old one was defective. Am I right?
It will be interesting to know is the new one already used part. Maybe is the new one also defective. I hope that a small control light is on if you put the disk inside.

  • Core speed, low/Satellite Pro 4200 Series

According to the laptop's manual the cpu is a pentium III E 500 MHz in my satellite pro 4200 laptop (operating system: Windows XP home edition). Checking the score speed with CPU-Z software this detects only a core speed of some 250 MHz! How can I increase the core speed to 500 MHz?

I installed the Toshiba Power Saver (XP with SP2) the processors speed icon is not activated. Using direct help on the Toshiba Power Saver screen it tells me This machine cannot modify its processor speed! But the software CPU-Z which checks the core speed still tells something of about 255 MHz but never 500 MHz!
Furthermore I can not adjust the cooling method (also with Toshiba Power Saver) either. The cooling methods setting is Performance. Is this possible?
tschantz2 and tschantz1 are the same person. So please do not be confused.

  • What is the difference between Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300 series?

As mentioned in another thread, I have a SP4220XCDT that died on me.
I bought a mobo from ebay which was from a 4290, and today it arrived, but the problem was that it has a seemingly fixed CPU, which stands out much less from the board than the one on the 4220 board, and therefore does not connect with the cooling mechanism from my 4220.
At least something comes on when I start up now, but unfortunately it doesn't get past the Toshiba screen which tells you to press F2 for boot sequence.
Having also spent money on memory and a new cpu, I don't want to let this one go, and have seen a motherboard available suitable for a 4320/40/60 - anyone know if this will fit in with the rest of my 4220? It doesn't have a cpu so presumably will have the same mechanism as the 4220 mainboard.
I'm assuming that these might be compatible since I have managed to find a pdf of a service manual which covers both the 4200 and 4300, although unfortunately the first page is missing so I dont' know if that highlights any differences.
It's frustrating that there are no pdfs available for these older models, at least with specs on them, and it's very hard to find any info.
As usual, thanks for any help!

    Hi
As far as I know both series uses the Intel Mobile Pentium III microprocessor with MMX?Technology.
    I found out these details:
Satellite 4260 Series: Mobile Pentium III 450MHz
Satellite 4270 Series: Mobile Intel Celeron 500MHz
Satellite 4280 Series: Mobile Pentium III 500MHz
Satellite 4320 Series: Mobile Pentium III 600MHz featuring Intel SpeedStep Technology
Satellite 4340 Series: Mobile Pentium III 650MHz featuring Intel SpeedStep Technology
The notebooks measures should be also the same. So in my opinion it should be possible to use the same motherboard in Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300.

  • RAM upgeade at Satellite Pro 4200

Can anyone confirm what the max ram size is and slot configuration for my sat pro 4200 please? At present it has 196,016kb and I want to increase it. Some sites show it has 320kb max and others 576kb.
    Thanks
    Gardenswing

    Hello
I didnt find any info about Satellite Pro 4200 but I know for sure that Satellite Pro 4220 can be upgraded up to 320 MB max. Both notebooks are the same and I believe this info is valid for your notebook too.
Compatible 128 MB module has part number PA3005U-1M12.
    Bye

  • Satellite Pro 4200 recognize RAM only in slot B

I have recently obtained a Satellite Pro 4200 and want to increase the memory to 320MB.
To start I purchased a 128MB module and have found that with a 64MB module in one slot and the 128 MB in the other the system only recognises the module in slot B.
Does the modules in the two slots have to be the same value for the system to recognise them? i.e. both 128MB or both 64MB.
If this is the case its OK but if it is not I dont want to purchase another 128MB module if the slot is unservicable.
    Thanks
    Billabilla.

    Hi
Wow Sat Pro 42000 is an oldie I didnt think that someone would use this notebook in the future I mean it was a great notebook but the performance it too low for present-days.
As far as I know the Satellite Pro 4200 was equipped with Mobile Intel Celeron 500Mhz or with an Intel Pentium III 450Mhz/500Mhz.
The units equipped with Pentium 450Mhz CPU can be upgraded up to 320MB. All other units can be upgraded up to 576MB.
I think the 64MB module should not be removed!!!
You have to use 64MB + 128MB or 256MB or 512MB (only for models with 500Mhz CPU).
    Hope this helps you

  • Question about function with in parameters

    Hello,
I have a question about functions with in-parameters. In the HR schema, I need to get the minimum salary of the job_id that is mentioned as an in-parameter.
this is what I am thinking but I dont know if it's correct or not or what should I do next!
create or replace function get_minimum_salary (i_job_id in varchar2)
    return number
    as
    begin
    SELECT min_salary INTO min_sal
    FROM jobs
    where job_id = get_minimum_salary(xy);
    RETURN i_job_id;
    end get_minimum_salary;
    thanks in advance
    EDIT
    Thanks for your help all.
Is it possible to add that if the i_job_id which is the in type parameter does not have a minimum salary then use the following function to register an error:
create or replace procedure insert_error (i_error_code in number,
                                                      i_error_message in varchar2)
    as
    begin
    insert into error_table (error_user, error_date, error_code, error_message)
    values (user,sysdate,i_error_code,i_error_message);
    end insert_error;
This function is basically to say that an error has occured and to register that error, at the same time I need to print out the error using the dbms_out.put_line.
Any ideas of how to do that?
    Thanks again

  • Question about Communication with Oracle 7

    Hi,
Generally we use Oracle Snapshots for Communication, but since Oracle 9.2.0.5 do not work with Oracle 7.1.5.2.4. we are thinking about do use Oracle Interconnect for this Link.
Now I have the following two Questions about Communication with Oracle 7:
    1. Is an Adapter for Oracle 7.1.5.2.4 available?
    2. From your experience, does it make sense to install Oracle Interconnect for implementation of only one read only Link with 3 Tables if an OAS for BI is available?
    Thanks,
    Hannes

    1. The Oracle database adapter is for Oracle 8i and up. I checked the code needed in the database and doubt that will work in Oracle 7.
    1. The other option Advanced Queuing also needs 8i and up.
    2. For me it doesnt make sense that you want to connect to Oracle 7. Oracle 7 is unsupported and should not have to be developed against. Also the license costs for Oracle Interconnect ~17K without any discount is a bit steep for read only links to three tables. Having the OAS means you wont have to pay another additional ~17K for the apps server.

  • I keep getting kicked off of my wifi with my MacBook Pro but not with my IPAD?

I keep getting kicked off of my wifi with my MacBook Pro but not with my IPAD, what do I do?

    Hi, mmayers.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing.  However, the issue could be a little more complex.  Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology.  Below, I have included two articles.  The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting.  The second article covers the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.

    Thanks

    Hi
What graphic card was installed in this oldie???
I dont think that Toshiba provides any Win ME drivers for this unit and therefore you should Google in the internet for graphic driver.
    Good luck

  • 8 questions from new owner of Satellite Pro L300

    Hello all forum users!
I bought a new Toshiba laptop, the Satellite Pro L300, and have until 14 January to test it - if it looks like it isn't working properly I'll return it to the store where I purchased it.
    Here's a list of questions I have:
    1. Every time I turn on the laptop or it comes out of suspended or hibernation mode, and when I turn it off, the cd/dvd drive makes a loud mechanical clunky noise.
It sounds to me like the carriage that carries the laser and optics is running into a mechanical stop.
    Is this normal?
    2. There is one hot subpixel on the display (blue) and according to the Toshiba info in the box, this is normal and is not cause for return.
Should I be concerned about this?
    3. When I run the memory test at system boot, it states that it will start windows automatically at test termination, and show me the results of the test.
It runs the test, starts Vista, but I don't see any results report.
Where do I find this report?
Is there a known problem with this test?
    4. The Toshiba utility program to perform diagnostics from within Vista does not work. Every time I run the test (PCdiag.exe) I get a Vista error message saying a fault was found in KERNEL32.dll.
Where can I get a fix for this?
I've already installed the updated files on Toshiba's web site for the 'Value Added Pack', which is where this utility is located, but still get the error message.
    5. I would like to access the bios settings at boot, but haven't found the way to do it yet.
F2 gives me a menu for memory test or normal system boot.
Esc doesn't get me into bios setup either.
There is a Toshiba bios utility I can run from Vista, and from what I see any bios firmware upgrades are also to be done through Vista.
Is there a way to access bios at boot?
    6. I would like to run XP on this system and understood that this model (Pro L300 PSLB1E) was XP compatible, and that I should be able to download all drivers from Toshiba to run on XP.
    Has anyone done this?
    7. The laptop installed and configured Vista basic when I did the first power on, but the license sticker on the bottom of the laptop has a product key for 'Vista Business OEMAct'. I was sold this laptop as having Vista Business with the option to downgrade to XP Pro. The box didn't come with any cds or dvds, and no manuals explaining how to install Vista Business.
This is enough reason to return the laptop to the store where I bought it, which is a hassle I would prefer to avoid if I can install Vista Business.
Can anyone help me understand what is happening here?
    8. Is there a way to contact technical support by email?
Thanks in advance to anybody that can answer any of the above questions!

    > 1. Every time I turn on the laptop or it comes out of suspended or hibernation mode, and when I turn it off, the cd/dvd drive makes a loud mechanical clunky noise.
My CD/DVD drives make similar noise too from time to time. Not always but sometimes. I think this appears because the drives laser lens calibrates in the right position.
    > 2. There is one hot subpixel on the display (blue) and according to the Toshiba info in the box, this is normal and is not cause for return.
Well, you need an certain amount of dead pixels to get a screen replacement
    Please check this FAQ:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5400ZD0002R01.htm
    > 3. When I run the memory test at system boot, it states that it will start windows automatically at test termination, and show me the results of the test.
There is no problem. I believe you mean the memory test while POST (power on self test). If there would be a memory fault then your notebook would not boot up properly.
    > 4. The Toshiba utility program to perform diagnostics from within Vista does not work. Every time I run the test (PCdiag.exe) I get a Vista error message saying a fault was found in KERNEL32.dll.
Hmm the Value Added Package contains the PC diagnostic tool for Vista. I would recommend removing the old VAP and reinstalling the new downloaded from the page.
The notebook seems to use the Phoenix BIOS and therefore pressing the F2 button should enable the BIOS. Press the F2 immediately after notebook has been powered up.
    > 6. I would like to run XP on this system and understood that this model (Pro L300 PSLB1E) was XP compatible, and that I should be able to download all drivers from Toshiba to run on XP.
Such XP drivers are placed on the Toshiba European page.

Never hear that this notebook would be delivered with Vista business As far as I know this series has been preinstalled with Vista Home Premium

If you have some problems with your notebook you can contact your ASP in your country.

  • Questions about editing with io HD or Kona 3 cards

My production company is switching from Avid to Final Cut Pro. I have a few editing system questions (not ingesting and outputting, just questions about systems for the actual editors - we will have mac pros with either kona 3 or io HD for ingest and outputs)
    1) Our editors work from home so they most likely will be using MacBook Pros - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6GHz 4GB computers with eSata drives to work on uncompressed HD, will they be able to work more quickly in FCP if they are using the new Mac Pro 8-Core (2 Quad-Core 2.8GHz Intel Xeon) or will the mac book pro's be able to hold their own with editing hour long documentaries, uncompressed HD
    2) Will having an AJA Kona 3 (if we get the editors mac pros) or io HD (for the mac book pros) connected be a significant help to the editor's and their process, will it speed up their work, will it allow them to edit sequences without having to render clips of different formats? Or will they be just as well off without editing with the io HD?
I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the necessity of the AJA hardware in terms of working with the editors to help them do what they have to do with projects that have been shot on many formats- DVCPro tapes, Aiptek cameras that create QTs and P2 footage.
    Thanks

    1. with the IoHD, laptops become OK working with ProRes and simply eSata setups. Without the Io, they can't view externally on a video monitor (a must in my book). It will not speed up rendering a ton, nor will it save renders of mixed formats. The idea is to get all source footage to ProRes with the Io, and then the Io also lifts the CPU from having to convert ProRes to something you can monitor externally on a video monitor, and record back to any tape format you want... all in real time.
    2. Kona 3's on Towers would run circles around render times on a Laptop... no matter what the codec, but the Kona does not really speed renders up. That's a function of the CPU and just how fast is it. (lots of CPU's at faster speeds will speed up render times).
I'd recommend you capture to ProRes with Io's or the Kona 3 and don't work in uncompressed HD. You gain nothing doing it quality wise at all. And you only use up a ton of disk space (6 times the size in fact) capturing and working in uncompressed HD, which from your post, you're not shooting anyway. The lovely thing about ProRes is that it's visually lossless, efficient, and speeds up the editing process. Mixing formats can be done, but it's better to go to ProRes for all source footage, and edit that way.
With either the Kona or the Io, you then can output to uncompressed HD tape... that's what they do for you no matter what codec you've edited in. ProRes is designed to be the codec of choice for all HD projects when you're shooting different formats especially... Get them all singing the same tune in your editing stations, and you'll be a much happier camper. Only reason to buy laptops is portability... otherwise you're much better off with towers and the Kona 3 speed wise.

  • Cannot use WLAN connection with my Satellite Pro A100

    Toshiba Satellite Pro A100-830
    Netgear DG834G
Can not use wireless connection. While using "Config Free" to find wireless device the popup 'this connection is controlled by other software'. I do not know what it means and which software controls the connection. I have other laptop which is duly connected by wireless connection. I am ok with wired connection.
I do not know much about technicalities and thus seek help if any reader can.
    Thanks
    Kris

    >Can not use wireless connection. While using "Config Free" to find wireless device the popup 'this connection is controlled by other software'
You should not use the ConfigFree for the Wlan configuration but either the own Vista configuration options or the WLan configuration tool like Intel ProSet Utility or Atheros Clint Utility. It depends on the WLan card what utility can be used.
Intel card -> Intel ProSet Utility; Atheros WLan card -> Atheros Clint Utility
I assume the message +this connection is controlled by other software+ appears because one of the options mentioned above controls the WLan.
