Question about XML file transferring over the networking

Hi, I am now to Java, and now I am going to set up a simple network in the lab.
I have created a random array of data and transferred to XML file on my client. Now, I would like to send it to the server. I am wondering how I can put the XML file into my client, and do I need any parser to let the server show what random date it has received?
Anybody can give me any idea or some basic code? Thank you.
Now, I am referring the KnockKnock example in Java online tutorial. But, not clear how to deal with the XML File.

File copying over the network - bangwidth periods

I copy files (5-10 Gb) by xcopy and robocopy from different Windows servers (2003 - 2008 - 2008r2) to windows share and facing 2 problems:
- after the copy is done - the file is deleted on share! o_O I thought that because after copy I unmount share by "net use ... /delete" in a batchfile. I added timeout 3 min., but the file is deleted before the share is unmounted (as i see in security
audit - deletion by user who copied file). and my second assumption links to second question
- I trace the network utilisation during the copy process and see the following: copy starts at 100% of bandwidth, after after that 2% --> 50%(average - from 0 to 100 very fast) --> 2% --> 100% and so on... the period of changes is about 3
min (sorry, don`t know the amount in bytes).
my assumption is that there is some kind of cache - network or disk - that transfers by portions and when the last portion is transferring - the share unmounts and file deletes (-timeout is unsufficient).
SO please help me understand this network behaviour - looks like it`s a OS feature and can it be the cause of deletion?

How to find out the size of files transferred over the SQL * Net?

I am trying to test the Advanced Compress (AC) for 11g Data Guard. When the AC is turned on, the archived log files are supposed to be compressed on the primary database server and sent over SQL*Net, then decompressed on the standby db server. We will see the file sizes are the same on both primary and standby servers. I want to verify that the AC works by monitoring how much data are sent over SQL*Net. Per Oracle, AC uses 35% less of the bandwith. That means the size of the files transferred should be at least 65% of the original size.
Is there a way to find out the size through Oracle utilities? If not, how to find out by OS utilities? OS is Solaris 5.10.

I'm not sure this can be done via SQL*Net, but a network packet sniffer between the two servers should be able to help - you might want to contact your network team.

A company is sending us an XML file via push technology and visual basic:

What is the best way to receive the XML from our company's end. We want to use PL/SQL code? Is Advanced Queuing a possible solution. What is the most eficient and straightforward solution?

It depends on the # of concurrent requests and what you plan to do with the doc.
Two choices:
1) Use XMLDB HTTP server: leverages XML DB data management (straight-forward and simple)
2) Use OracleAQServlet: provides asynchronous message queuing

Existing files on drive connected to latest Airport Extreme do not show up, however files copied over the air to the drive do. Any ideas?

I have the latest Airport Extreme with a Seagate drive connected. I copied files to the drive while it was connected to my MacBook Pro. The files do not show up when connected to the AE, but they appear when connected to the Macbook, Files copied over the network to the drive appear. The drive is formatted HFS+.

After playing with this for the last few days, I found a solution. Under the "Disks" tab in Airport Utility, the "Secure Shared Disks" drop down needs to be set to "With device password". Mine was set to "With acounts", which even after correct authentication, none of the files would appear.
Another interesting note: The files that I could see, the ones I copied over the network, do not appear now. I can copy over new files, and they show up, but the ones copied prior to changing the "Secure Shared Disks" option, do not.

Bluetooth mouse cuts out when transferring files over the network

Just as the title says: whenever I copy files to a PC over the network (via SMB I think its called) My bluetooth mighty mouse will start getting very jerky and makes is very difficult to move the cursor on the screen. However, my Bluetooth keyboard is comply fine. Both are using Lithium batteries and where just replaced about a month ago. Also, both are in close range...about 2 feet. And it only happens when coping files.
Any ideas?

I don't connect to network volumes that often, but I did again today and noticed that my bluetooth keyboard completely cut out (had the "discounted" HUD come up) and then the keyboard would not reconnect until the file copy was complete. I don't know about the mouse as lately I've been using my Microsoft mouse that hasn't been giving me any troubles. (like really, Microsoft and "no troubles" in the same sentence??? lol)

WIFI dies when transferring big files over the network

Hi, I have Dell Inspiron 1520 with ipw3945 driver, when I transfer big files over the network, my wifi dies, anybody knows what could it be? If you need additional information, feel free to ask...

I guess we shall see. I can't imagine we are the only 7 with these issues. Mine is mainly just lag... and overall slowness. I hope to work through this. If it lasts much longer I will have to revert back all 3 of my lappies to FC which I really do not want to do. But on the lappies i connect via wireless 90% of the time and need it to work.
By the way how are you guys configuring your wifi? I am using the iwl drivers and wicd.
Well I did some more testing and loaded up netcfg and still get the same results so that rules out that part. I also did some packet captures and I am getting a bunch of tcp retransmissions followed by tcp segment lost followed by a reset which in turn kills my rdp session (remote desktop protocol). I also went back several versions of the uucode driver and still get the same reults so I guess it seems to be a kernel issue. Back to FC I go. Damn shame...

Capturing video to a file while transmitting it over the network

I have tried several ways to do this but non of them have worked. On the JMF Programmers Guide its stated that one could do something like this: creating a processor from a DataSource, and the taking two Datasources from the processor, one is used to transmitt the video over the network, and the other is used to save the data to a file(through a DataSink).
One of the ways I've tried is to clone de DataSource before creating the Processor. I've also tried to clone the Data source after creating and realizing the processor. The other way I've tried is by using the JMFSolution "Video Capture Utility with Monitoring", found at the jmf's homepage, which intercepts the data carried from the capture data source to the Processor.
Non of these have worked, and I always get Exceptions about not finding a DataSink for the DataSource I use. For example:

Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
What I did wrong was:
- not copying the master image to the nbi folder
- selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:

This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder.

If you put a ControllerListener on the Processor that's associated with generating the RTP stream, it'll generate an "EndOfMedia" event when the end of the file is reached.

Weird X on corner of copied file over the network

i was copying a file from my Mac Pro (Lion) to my MBP (ML) over the network and i noticed this little x in a black box on the top left hand corner of the icon while it was being copied.
does anyone know if this is normal?
the two little red marks mean that the file is a windows file for my virtual machine but i have seen this x before and i was curious to know if this is in fact a Mac OS functionality.

OK. weird. the files on my dropbox have this weird blue x and then a green checkmark in this spot if i am not mistaken.
so we are saying this is a function of a PROGRESS BAR and it goes away when the copy has completed?
i mean, it did go away over here but i don't remember seeing it before for some reason.

Corporate Win7/Office 2010 | Severe Lag when opening Office 2010 files over the network

Good Evening Everyone,
I work in a corporate environment for one of the top banks in the country (USA). We recently upgraded our computers to Windows 7. (The image has office 2010 included in the build)
I've been experiencing some severe lag when opening Office files over the network. Let me start by saying I've researched a lot and have yet to find a solution that works or even makes much of an improvement.
Notes: My laptop is new (64-bit Win 7 Enterprise). The remote desktop where the files lie is new as well. (64-bit Win 7 Enterprise) Both computers have good hardware and more than enough juice to handle applications.
There are certain files I work on along with other co-workers that we store on a computer within the office. We simply create shortcuts to the files on our local machines and make changes, etc. from there. However, after this upgrade, every time I try to
open a file on the remote computer, it takes over a 1 minute to load. I've spoken to our support team who sent someone out and confirmed it's not the network.
Both computers are on the same subnet as well. I've changed the trust center settings on both the client computers and "server" to trust any computer on the network. I have also changed the network card's speed from "Auto Negotiate" to
full duplex 100mbps with no luck.
I am out of options here and in desperate need for a fix. Even saving changes to a file we work on takes forever. 50% of the time when I close a spreadsheet, the title bar has a not responding message and takes a minute to eventually close.
PS: Extra Info : All computers run McAfee AV and use McAfee for disk encryption. I've confirmed all computers are up-to-date in every respect with the AV software.

Open My Computer.
Open the Tools menu and choose Folder Options...
Select the File Types tab.
Select the extension (for example DOC, or XLS) of the file that is slow to open.
In the Details section, click [Advanced], and another dialog box will open.
In the Actions section, click Open then click [Edit...], and another dialog box will open.

Modifying JAR file using java.util.jar package over the network

Hello,
I am modifying a JAR file programmatically using java.util.jar package. The time taken to save the contents to a local disk is very less (around 1 sec) . When I tried modifying the JAR from a remote machine over the network (from mapped drive or shared folder of WIN NT), the time taken to save is 15-20 times more.
I am recreating the whole JAR while modifying. Is there any way to improve the performance. Or is it possible to write only the changed files?

Accessing a file over the network

I need to access a file for read/write operations. The file may exist or may not on another computer in my network. I use the File class for accessing the file. (File f = new File("\\192.23.23.23\file.txt");
My problem is how can I know if I cannot access the file because I have network issues (e.g. The file exists but the network is down so its not accessible) or because the file really dont exist on the given address.
Since File operations does not throw a specific exception Its hard to know the exact reason for access failure.
Any suggestions ?

Any suggestions ?Here's a complete hack that only uses File that is completely coupled to Windows and the "\\hostname\dir\file..." syntax. This is not a universal solution and strongly urge you not to use it:

Remember that there's absolutely no way to check if a remote file exists if the network is down, short of carrier pigeons. This will just tell you if the file might exist.
