Question adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack

Hi All,
R12.1.3 / rdbms 11.2.0.3
We did a fresh R12.1.1 install followed by R12.1.3 upgrade and rdbms upgrade to 11.2.0.3.
we did a pre-clone on source and cloned to DEV.
When we do
perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack it complets successfully but failed to start lsitener.
When looking into $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/SID_server/listener.ora, the entry is the SOURCE instead of TARGET.
I know how to workaround this but I do not understnad why it is happened? We have many other R12.1.3 instances and this never happened before.
Anything we could check at to permanently fix this for future clone on this instance?

If yes, then please see (R12 Rapidclone on dbTier Tries to Start Listener with Source SID: "RC-00118 'Error occurred during creation of database' " [ID 1329400.1]).
Also, make sure you have the latest Rapid Clone and AutoConfig patches applied -- I believe you are aware of the docs.

I am doing a first-time clone from my PRD to my TST instance, and have undergone the following steps:
1. perl adpreclone.pl dbTier on Source DB
2. perl adpreclone.pl appsTier on Source AppTier
3. Copy APPL_TOP, COMMON_TOP, ORACLE_HOME, IAS_ORACLE_HOME from Source AppTier to Target AppTier.
4. Run perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack on Target DB.
At this point is where I start running into issues. The dbTechStack deletes/recreates the tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora, and listener.ora files, and the DB can no longer startup. The below is in the logfiles. Am I doing something wrong? I guess the issue is not so much with it deleting/recreating the files, as it is with the values it puts into the files (i.e. DB port = 3001)

Excellent. I copied the template file from another instance and the following messages were at the end of the logfile:

However I'm not completely certain this is entirely correct preclone. Can you tell me why the Profile and Apply Phases were skipped and why the following was displayed upon the screen on completion?

Adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack - RC-50004

Hi,
I am cloning a new instance from production.
I cloned on monday night successfully the first instance. Everything ran perfectly.
Now i'm cloning the 2nd instance.
My db os user profile is set correctly.
I ran '. oraenv' to load the environnement and everyting is ok. Of course, it does not find the rdbms <sid>.env file as it will be create with the 'perl adcfgclone.pl' command.
When i go to
$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/bin
and issue the following command:
perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack
I get the following erorr:
"Provide the values required for creation of the new Database Context file.

RC-50004: Error occurred in CloneContext:

Looking at '/apps/oracle/uat1/db/10.2.0/appsutil/clone/bin/CloneContext_03101751.log', I can see the following:

Issue cloning target database environment during a preclone step
Problem Description
command perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack /db01/oracle/TESTDB/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/TESTDB_machine.xml results in the following error, and preclone steps cannot continue:
RC-20403: The following port numbers are busy - please make sure the ports are available and try again.
Raised by oracle.apps.ad.clone.ApplyDBTechStack
s_dbport : 1522
Not sure why I would receive this error, I have done this step several times before without error. Any ideas?

Not sure why I would receive this error, I have done this step several times before without error. Any ideas?The error indicates that port 1522 is used by another program/process, so please use a different port or kill the process which uses port 1522.

Perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack default values...?

Our config: DB 10g2.0.2, APPS 11.5.10.2
When we run "perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack" then some default values are shown in screen:

Number of DATA_TOP's on the target system [6]:
...Where are those settings saved and retrieved in runtime? I'd like to change some default values to some new values (i.e. number of data tops to "7", after adding some luns)... Funny, but I couldn't find the source ... of that pattern.

The script adcfgclone.pl calls CloneContext.class. This java code is responsible for creating the Target
Context file. The default values for the prompts are read from CTXORIG.xml (a
copy of the Source context file). There are some exceptions to this, one of
them being the "number of DATA_TOPs". This default value derives from the
number of "s_dbhome" variables in
+$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/data/stage/addbhomsrc.xml. This file is generated+
on the Source system by adpreclone.pl, and copied to the Target system during
the copy phase.
As you have uploaded your addbhomsrc.xml and it is not working as specified above indicates you may be hitting a bug.
Your default value appears to equate to "number of "s_dbhome" variables in addbhomsrc.xml 1".+
+This matches an issue reported in Bug 5345502, where an additional variable+
+added for 10g was being counted in addition to the s_dbhome variables, making+
+the default number 1 more than the source. This was fixed for both 11i and R12+

Adcfgclone.pl dbconfig

Hi everyone! I've read whole bunch of topics related to the subject but didn't actually find what I wanted to. The question of concern is:
What actually "*adcfgclone.pl dbconfig*" does? I mean "behind the scenes". So far I know it configures the database and doesn't create controlfile compared with "database" option. Also I know it updates database tables with the values obtained from the context file. Plus it can be replaced by just running autoconfig. BUT what it actually DOES? What scripts, java programs it launches and what actions it performs?
For example, "adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack" fires CloneContext.class to create context file then ApplyDBTechStack.class goes which will fire $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/ouicli.pl. Then ouicli.pl registers ORACLE_HOME by updating orainventory (OracleHomeCloner.class fires) and etc...
Please, help me figure out. Thanks in advance!!!

Adcfgclone.pl

during hot cloning when i went to step to run adcfgclone.pl , i do not UAT_uat.xml file at path "/orahome/PROD/db/tech_st/10.2.0/appsutil" , i have PROD_dpprod.xml which contain instance name and dbname for PROD i beleive. How can i creat UAT_uat.xml , i have recovered the database online from PROD to UAT machine , copied tech_st from PROD to UAT. Please help.

I am not sure if your question is clear but however for hot clone, the following 2 steps are needed to configure the DB-tier
1. cd [RDBMS ORACLE_HOME]/appsutil/clone/bin
Start db clone scripts
perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack
2. Configure the target database:
perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig <database_context_file>
It is here you need the context file generated in the step 1.
Please get the clone doc and read in details as you may need to do 1 or 2 things based on your setup

These are the options available in adcfgclone. I know you people know this. but i want to confim this.
adcfgclone.pl dbTier option .
adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack
adcfgclone.pl database ----> What this option will do? Can you people explain?

Venkat,
You can use it to configure the database if the database is open. If the database in not accessible, it will recreate controlfiles, configure and open the database. Please note if you specify the context file, you will not be prompted for cloned system target values to create.

Attempting a clone/refresh of our TEST EBSR12 environment. Followed steps in the documentation. First, I ran adrpeclone.pl dbTier. Next I ran adpreclone.pl appsTier. Subsequently, I copied the source $APPL_TOP, $COMN_TOP, and TechStack from source system to target system. Next step was to shutdown DB and run adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack. Then, target DB control files were created and RMAN restore commenced. Once this was finished, the DB was started in open mode, @adupdlib.sql script was run, and target DB was configured using perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig (and reading in the XML context file) Result was a failure:

The following report lists errors AutoConfig encountered during each
phase of its execution. Errors are grouped by directory and phase.
The report format is:
<filename> <phase> <return code where appropriate>

Was the database created successfully? Please make sure the database is up and it is open along with the database listener.
Please see if (Autoconfig Error On Dbtier After Upgrade - afdbprf.sh and adcrobj.sh fail with ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist [ID 422709.1]) is applicable.

i already have checked <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/log/<Context_name>/<MMDDhhmm>/adconfig.log location but there is no directory with <MMDDhhmm>/adconfig.log..

when iam giving perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack
im getting following error

Appying patches when Physical standby in place.

Kindly suggest steps for patch application /application upgradation. We dont have any replication tool.What is the standard process to sync standby after patch upgradation . Is there any alternative of rsync/rdist utility.
Is it possible that after applying patch in Primary, On Standby we have to apply as it is, with no Database inclusion as the standby database will be in mount state and will not available for making database changes.
How to find which files to be copied manually to sync the standby with Primary. Will this method reliable?
Apologies to ask many questions but i found no single document covering this detailed process.

After running the Middle Tier and Database Pre-clone.
To synchronize Synchronize the Appropriate File Systems to Standby,

Reconfigure the Standby Middle Tier File Systems
When the file system synchronization is complete, reconfigure the standby file systems. Log onto each of the standby middle tier systems as the APPLMGR user and execute the following commands:
cd <COMMON_TOP>/clone/bin
perl adcfgclone.pl atTechStack <INST_TOP>/appl/admin/<Standby CONTEXT_NAME>.xml
To complete the configuration of environment run AutoConfig using the following commands:
cd <APPL_TOP>/ad/12.0.0/bin
adconfig.sh contextfile=<INST_TOP>/appl/admin/<standby context>.xml run=INSTE8
AutoConfig will report errors regarding to database connection, these errors can be ignored as the database is unavailable.
Step 4.4.11 - Reconfigure the Standby Database File Systems
If you had to synchronize the apps utilities on the database server in the prior step, you should also reconfigure the database server. As the ORACLE user on each database node of standby database tier, first stop the listener if it is running, then execute the following commands:
cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/clone/bin

ALTER DATABASE RENAME DATAFILE, what really needs to bu run later?

If I "alter database" and move some datafiles to newly added luns, do I need to run:
On DB side:
1) perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack (according new luns!)
2) If 1) is yes, then probably have to run "perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig $CONTEXT_FILE"?
On APPS side:
1) Autoconfig?
Second question. If on on new LUN is only having archived log files (no db datafiles are on that lun), should they be involved in Number of DATA_TOP's on the target system?

Could you please elaborate more? Why would you need to run perl adcfgclone.pl if you alter the database and add more datafiles?

DATA_TOPs should point to the mount points where datafiles are located.

Preserver display

Hi All,
During cloning when I run "perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack" on the target instance( instance being cloned).
I am prompted this question:
Do you want to preserve the Display set to 1.0 (y/n) [y] ?
What does this mean? Could someone please explain.

What does this mean? Could someone please explain.You usually run adpreclone on source node before start of copy to target, adpreclone basically checks through various driver files and save information, at time when you are adclone on target node it suggests value as accordance to source node.
In above question oracle is asking you if your display server on target node is running on same display set as on source, if yes then choose default otherwise say 'n' and it will ask for value of display set. In autoconfig xml file you will see this parameter as s_display_server something like hostname:1.0(on source node) and you should be having your Xserver to be started on same set i.e. hostname:1.0 to use it correctly.
