Hi! I purchased Captivate 2 for e-learning issues. I have
some problems. I will be very pleased if you help me.
1.Is it possible to make a question bank with captivate 2?
2.And is it possible to make a system which randomly selects
questions from the bank?

If you think a bit outside the box there is. You could create
a few different Captivate movies that are nothing more than
question sets. You could then use some coding in an HTML page to
randomize the different Captivate movies. But other than that, no.
I've seen more than a few folks asking for this
functionality. If you feel it should be in a future version of
Captivate,

2 Questions I'm affraid
Question 1
I am using Captivate 5. Is there a way to say have 10 questions in a question bank but randomly only ever show 5 questions.
For example two people sitting next to each other at a PC both taking the same course which has 5 questions, however they both see different questions.
Question 2
can I attach more than one question bank to a test. For example: A person is being tested on several different subjects from say Pain management to fire saftey. Is there away to set up several question banks and attach them to one test and randomly take questions from each bank. ie
Question Bank 1 Fire Safety . . 10 questions
Question Bank 2 Pain Management . . 10 Questions
Question Bank 3 Resucitation . . 10 Questions
I want the acutual test to randomly take five questions from each bank.

What you describe should be possible using question pools in Captivate.
A question pool can have dozens of questions but if you only have 5 slides in your movie linked to that question pool then your users will only ever see 5 randomly selected questions each time the movie is played.
Just be aware that those same 5 questions will be visible during that session no matter how many times the learner retakes the quiz. In order to see a different set of 5 randomised questions from the same pool the learner would need to relaunch the entire lesson again.
If two people log onto the same PC and each launches the same lesson (separately) then they will see a different randomised set of questions from the same pool.
You can have multiple question banks in the same project, and each can have as many questions as you need. All you need to do is insert question slides in your movie and select the option that they are randomised questions. When you select this option, you get the drop down menu that allows you to select which question pool the questions will be drawn from for that slide. If you later decide you want the slide to draw from a different pool, you can easily change this in the Properties tab.

Question bank in LSO

Client wants to create question bank in LSO. Is there any way of
uploading these questions ??
Also, can we have random generation of questions ?? for eg: if we have
some 500 questions in the bank, 50 questions to be selected on random
basis for each learner ??

For concept of question bank - Yes, you can do this...just build all the questions you wish to be associated with the test through the Test Author. Then make sure at the item group level, you define the item number to be used for Dynamic Item Selection. You also need to remember to select checkbox for Dynamic item selection on the Test Attributes screen so it is enabled.

For question randomization, this is also possible. Set the Random Sequence on the Test Attributes page to whatever you desire.

CP7 quizzes with multiple question banks not working

Hello there
I have worked 2 weeks on creating a quiz to be published in HTML5 and now that I am finally ready to publish it appears that CP7 has a problem when publishing a quiz with all random questions taken from more than 4 question pools.
Up to 3 question pools HTML5 works like a charm but add a 4th one and it all goes to hell.
I have 60 questions taken from 11 question pools and many questions appear blank (just the background appears and the slide keeps going for its 3 seconds untill it automatically jumps to the next question not giving the possibility to answer and therefore scoring it negatively. (the answer all questions is active).
Now if I publish the same project as SWF the quiz has no problems and works just fine but I would really like to be able to have people take the quiz on their iPad and also I was actually going to convert it into an iPad app but that now appears impossible to do.
Is there a solution to the problem? Is CP7 limited to 3 Question Pools when publishing as HTML5?

During HTML5 publish, are you getting a warning with the text ' There are more random question slides than questions available in the pool...’. If yes, then can you please take the corrective action and see it resolves the issue or not?

How to import questions into Captivate 4 from a delimited file

I'm looking
a way to import questions from a delimited text file (or excel spreadsheet)
into captivate.
All the questions are simple multiple choice, single answer, four selections per question.
I have hundreds - I'd hate to have to retype them all in one at a time.

Other things I would really like to see in Captivate 5.
Importing and Exporting the graded quiz/test content out of captivate into another
application/ form. Such as xml, tab delimited, excel spreadsheet,
Adobe pdf, Word document or another format. Our current content
developement systems allows us to (when publishing) do this.
1> exclude questions from the Published content
(exclude section questions, or final test content)
2> produce different test versions from question banks
3> Produce a PDF paper test for when we want to train in a classroom setting
4> Select which questions we want to produce
5> Import questions from a pre-defined format. To note: when we do this the system also makes us define a unique interaction id so that the import will update existing questions.
I know this will NOT work for some of the more sophisticated questions, But for the simple Mulitple choice, true/false, fill in the blank. etc..
THIS WOULD BE A GREAT FEATURE..
It would also be NICE TO HAVE THE abiliy to PROFILE versions of the SAME Course WITH OUT REPRODUCING / DUPLICATING / REPEATING THE ENTIRE COURSE PRESENTATION.
Such as
"INSTRUCTOR TAUGHT TRAINING"
"WEB TRAINING"
"PAPER TEST A"
"PAPER TEST B"
ETC...
LASTLY: if we can not export the QUIZ content. Can an excel spreadsheet LIKE INTERFACE be used to edit certain aspects of the questions.
Such as the InteractionId which is sent to the LMS ('cmi.interactions.0.id'). My developer team says it is real difficult and time consuming
to track down interactionIds and then maintain them in a perfect way.

OLM || Issue with Image-type questions

This is with reference to an issue regarding the import of " Image-map " types questions in OLM.
The legacy system which the client uses allows creation and assignment of 'Image-map" types questions to the learners.
As far as my limited understanding goes, these types of questions are not supported in OLM.
How to handle such types of questions in OLM , any pointers ??
Also , what exactly are QTI standards and how to convert the existing question banks to QTI standards and then import them to OLM ??

There is one method to support these types of questions by using HTML code in the question text, but it is definitely a workaround.
1. Use an HTML editor like Dreamweaver to create the image map or other type of interactive question. Save the html and any related images, javascript etc and upload to a content server. If the user gets the interactive question correct, provide them with some code to enter that will be used later.
2. Select a question type like fill in the blank
3. In the question text, use an IFRAME to embed the HTML page that contains the interactive question
4. The correct response for this question will be based on the "code" you provide users in the interactive question if they get it correct. They would then enter this code in the fill in the blank area and get credit for answering correctly.
Other options include building the assessment using a content authoring tool and offering the assessment as a SCORM or AICC learning object, or integrating with a third party assessment tool such as Questionmark.
Also,
Metalink Note ID #295865.1 contains the import/export API tech specification (this was originally written for Oracle iLearning but applies to OLM for the most part as well) and has info on the QTI spec that OLM and iLearning support.

Bulk loading of questions on OLM

Hi,
Is there any way to load questions in bulk from excel into OLM in order to create question banks and tests?
I have looked for API's but didn't find any.

Oracle Learning Management supports the IMS Question & Test Interoperability (QTI) Specificiation for the import of tests and their related questions. If you can convert the test and their questions into this format you can import into OLM. We do not currently have a document specific to OLM that describes the test metadata but you can read the Oracle iLearning Import/Export API Specifications document which contains this information about tests and applies to OLM as well.

How to import Question Slides

Hi, I want to create a question bank using Captivate 2. For
example I will create 100 multiple choice questions in one
captivate project and i will create 100 True False question in
another captivate project. This is for my questin bank. Then i will
import 10 questions from project 1 and 10 questions from project 2

Unfortunately this isn't currently possible. There is only
one way to "copy" questions. You create a template with the
questions inside it. Then create movies based on the template. The
alternative to that (which is really the same way) is to use a
"Seed" movie that contains the questions and you repeatedly perform
a Save As in order to create new movies.

해당 Bank Account의 Currency가 Functional currency 일 경우에 Enable이
가능하다라는 내용입니다.
다시 정리하면,
해당 Bank Account의 Currency가 Functional Currency(예를들어, "KRW")가
아닌 다른 나라의 Currency ("JPY")인 경우에는 해당 Multiple Currency
Payments 기능을 사용하실 수 없습니다.
