    The first thing you will have to do is import the music that is currently in your Windows Media Player library over to your iTunes library because that is the only way you will be able to sync any music to it.     When I have tried to import my .wav lossless files created under windows media player into iTunes I use File, add folder to library but when the action is completed I get all of the files under the heading 'unknown album' with 'unknown artist'.

    You'll first need to add the MP3s to your iTunes library since the iPod is not compatible with Windows Media Player. You can use, for example, the File > Add to Library menu to do this.

    iTunes will not accept Window Media player tracks that are protected. If you imported them off your own CDs, did you check the option to apply protection to them? If so, your only choice is to re-rip those CDs.

    Within iTunes use the add folder to library option available on file menu. Select the folder to add. iTunes will add the file to iTunes library. Depending on settings, iTunes may copy the file to iTUnes folder location.
