Question-Comment-Lament!

I simply cannot get to change the font size in my Adobe Reader X.  I have tried the Commenting routine where you change the font in there (Preferences) but it doesn't work!  I have lost my patience trying to get the font smaller and just can't seem to find how to do it.  Use baby talk with me. I am fragile!

The size of form fields, as well as the fonts and their sizes in there are defined when the form is created.  There is no way you can change that with Adobe Reader.
You need to ask the creator of these forms to change it.

  • Questions/comments on "How to Use BC4J HTML Field Renderers"

BTW thanks for getting this HOWTO on custom renderers up. Good stuff. Probably one of the first things someone should read after getting past the first BC4J-JSP tutorial.
But after having just read it, I have some questions and comments.
What would be the best way to localize the YES|NO values from the first example? I know I can create property files for resource bundles and get the values from there, but where do I get the users Locale? And given that BC4J has a place for localized field labels, is there some better place (for JDev/BC4J integration) than going off and creating my own property files?
I was hoping to see examples of actually writing the HTML so I can add properties for validation, etc. The examples were about custom data for the renders rather than custom HTML. I assume that I just output HTML in the renderToString() method and it would just start with "<select" or "<input" not TDs or spans or anything, right? But in such cases, what can I extend / not extend? In the case of lists, I would have to handle all the different control types, right?
I am confused on control types. There's a control type on the control hints tab and in the HOWTO creates a new propery called MY_CONTROL_TYPE. Why? How do they relate? (and is that question about the RADIOGROUP suppose to be in the HOWTO doc?)
Can we not get the list control types as options on control hints tab? Or if we are creating our own renders, say for a boolean, I could create different renderers for the different control types (checkbox, select, radio, maybe selectYesNo, selectTrueFalse,...) or create one with a control type setting for them all. Which should I do when? And is there a way to expose these control types in the control hints tab?
BTW do these custom renders work the same in UIX-JSP and UIX-XML?
Since we are extending Oracle's classes we need more complete JavaDocs, not just the public methods. For example the HOWTO uses "ds" from PickList. BTW I have to give my opinion on Java style, maybe consider coding like "this.ds" for clarity. But anyway....
    thanks for all the help!

    Some comments:
    1. the provided renderers read the properties every time becuase they are meant to be 'generic' and there are possible parameter differences between one attribute and another. You can easily hard-code the property values into the renderer implementation and 'never' look at the properties for parameters. The same applies for the dynamic renderer.
    2. The set of renderers applis to both UIX JSP and JSP. There some bugs in the UIX JSP that prevent this in 9.0.2, but they will be fixed in Jdev 9.0.3.
    3. The 'control type' is a shortcut way to select some of the default renderers. If you specify the 'Renderer' properties, they take precedence over any control types selected at design-time.
    4. A cool way to re-use renderers is to create a new domain class and setup the renderer properties at that level. You can then use tihs domain type in your entity objects. all the rendering selection will happen automatically.
    5. You can retrieve the current locale by using the ApplicationModule.getSession().getLocale() , make sure you use this method instead of the default locale since a single web application may be used by different users with different locale settings. We take the http locale information and map it into the application module's locale. If you need locale specific values, use resource bundles.

  • New user, got the iPhone on Friday 22nd, Here are some questions & comments

I got the 8 GB iPhone. The AT&T sales girl was very helpful. My first question is about syncing with my MBP. The first sync went OK, I did have to get Apple tech support on the line or I would not have been successful. However, It all worked as it was supposed to work. The sales girl told me that when I did a sync that would move data from the computer to the iPhone but not from the iPhone to the computer in iCal. That seems a bit dumb since many times I use my Treo, which quit working, to make calendar entries while I am away from my computer and then can connect to my computer and update iCal. On another forum there was a long discussion of how to do a work around.
This morning I connected my iPhone to my MBP. The iPhone lit up, I slid it unlock and nothing more happened. I opened iTunes and still nothing happened. I had expected iTunes to open automatically. Once I opened iTunes, I expected a button to appear on the iTunes window. Nothing. I did find an item under the file menu that said something like "sync iPhone", I selected that and as far as I could tell nothing happened. What am I missing?

The sales girl told me that when I did a sync that would move data from the computer to the iPhone but not from the iPhone to the computer in iCal.
    Not true.
    Check this link.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306071
Are you running the current iTunes version?
To each his/her own but I prefer not having iTunes sync my iPhone or iPod automatically when connected since I often want to make a change or two, or confirm settings and then selecting sync.
If you have iTunes preferences and your iPhone preferences set to sync automatically when your iPhone is connected, it should do so.

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
We only allow a limited subset of HTML formatting options. So depending on how elaborate your formatting was you might lose some e.g. if you copy it from a word document.
We don't remove paragraphs or blank lines though.

  • Question/Comment about Outline

Did you ever noticed that members that are dynamic calc in a sparse dimension are considered stored members when you look at database statistics ?I wonder why ... ???Why would dynamic calc members in sparse dimension be considered stored member when the same members in a dense dimension are not.Example :Dimension X is dense. It has 10 members, 5 of which are dynamic calc. In database statistics, you will see the following:Dimension Type : DenseMembers in dim : 10Members stored : 5For argument sake, use the same dimension but set it to sparse. In database statistics, you will see the following:Dimension Type : SparseMembers in dim : 10Members stored : 10Anyone else seen this or is this a possible bug or our server ???We are using Essbase 6.1 patch 2 on Sun Solaris 5.8.We also have Essbase 6.1 patch 3A on a development server also running on Sun Solaris 5.8. Both server shows the same statistics.Thomas

It could be a bug - or just the way the value is calculated. For example - if you tag members of sparse dimensions as dynamic calc, the POTENTIAL number of blocks stays the same. I would argue that it should decrease, since you will never have blocks stored for members that are dynamic. However, if you have data in your database, the number of EXISTING blocks does decrease, which is expected. Now, the other possibility is that Essbase calculates blocks according to their block number. Even though a sparse member may be dynamic, Essbase may still track the block number for this "dynamic" block in case it is required for a rollup or other calculation. The "storage" of the sparse member is merely to assign the sparse combination a block number. That is my best guess (aside from a bug)... I couldn't find an explaination in the DBA guide. • Newbie Questions/Comments - SMS and Instant Messaging

I am a new iPhone 3G owner. Before the iPhone I used a SideKick and a BlackBerry. Between those 2 the BlackBerry was my favorite. The email, IM and TXT messaging was great. Now I have the iPhone and I like it but have 2 MAJOR gripes:
*1. SMS* - When txting with someone from my old provider (T-Mobile) the txts are REAL slow. Several minutes pass before receipt. I did a test and sent and received txts from someone on the Verizon network and had no problems. Does anyone know what would be causing this?
*2. Instant Messaging* - Now this is my biggest gripe. Instant Messaging is non-existent. Why is this? It used to be my primary means of communication.
There was another one but I can't remember it right now. Any insight to either of these would be appreciated. I've never spent so much time trying to figure out a phone.

For number 2, this is well known design limitation of the iPhone. The iPhone does not allow background applications to run, so if your phone goes to sleep or you leave the IM screen, then IM is shutdown.
Apple is supposed to release a background notification service, but it is past the launch date, and no one knows when it will show up.
If realtime always on IM is a must have, then the iPhone is not a good choice.

  • 975x Power Up Edition : Questions, Comments, and Concerns

    Mushkin DDR2-800 PC-6400 Memory @400mhz (x2... 1:1.25 multiplier)
    ATi X1900 XT (512mb)
Is there a better way to get my memory to 800mhz?  When I try and use different multipliers it just will not post, be it 1:1 or 1:1.33.  When I change the voltage (be it core, or memory) I cannot post either, so there is no way I can tell if that is effective or even working.  That is my only problem with this board, period, that my memory will not run at a proper speed.
Other than that, I love it.  I have great faith in MSI.
When I was clocked to 3.1ghz (@350mhz clock) I could get as low as 16seconds for 1M super pi.

just in making sure that everything runs as designed.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time you've used DDR2 ram, or at the very least the first time you've actually given any thought to the speeds and what it says on the box.
    PC6400 = DDR2-800
DDR stands for Double Data Rate which means that the Mhz your ram is actually running at is half of 800 = 400Mhz. Therefore with your "320/400" you are already running at advertised speed.
If you want a quick way of working out all these PC5300, PC8000, PC6400 and what actual Mhz they're running at just divide by 16.
    Eg PC8000/16 = 500Mhz, PC7200/16 = 450Mhz
    This still applies with DDR1, eg PC4000/16 = 250Mhz, PC3200/16 = 200Mhz.
Don't just take my word for it, read the "Specification standards" on this page -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM

  • Want to erase hard drive and reinstall Tiger- quick questions

I am giving my G4 to my son in a couple of days and it now has Classic on it. My plan is to erase the whole hard drive and install just Tiger. So my thoughts are:
1.) There are no settings I want/need to preserve. I have 4 Tiger CD's- is that the right number? I think I have them all but just want to make sure.
2.) Do I insert CD holding down the C key and from some point when the CD loads, I chose Disk Utility and wipe the hard drive then? Are there different choices for wiping the hard drive? Like the number of passes?
3.) And then is it just a simple matter of installing all 4 Tiger disks?
Any other tips, tricks, advice you can give me? Tomorrow's the big day (2/1)! Thanks so much, I am a bit nervous about this......... Judy

If I am not mistaken BULK COLLECT has to be done per column in 8i:
    open c1;
    fetch c1 bulk collect into collection_1, collection_2, ...;

  • Oracle OLAP cube build question

    Hello,
I am trying to build a reasonably large cube (around 100
million rows from the underlying relational fact table). I am using
Oracle 10g Release 2. The cube has 7 dimensions, the largest of which
is TIME (6 years of data with the lowest level day). The cube build
    never finishes.
Apparently it collapses while doing "Auto Solve". I'm assuming this
means calculating the aggregations for upper levels of the hierarchy
(although this is not mentioned in any of the documentation I have).
I have two questions related to this:
    1. Is there a way to keep these aggregations from being performed at
cube build time on dimensions with a value-based hierarchy? I already
have the one dimension designated as level-based unchecked in the
"Summarize To" tab in AW manager (TIME dimension).
    2. Are there any other tips that might help me get this cube built?

Hi, I've taken a few minutes to do a quick analysis. I just saw in your post that this isn't "real data", but some type of sample. Here is what I'm seeing. First off, this is the strangest dataset I've ever seen. With the exception of TIME, DATASOURCE, and RPTCURRENCY, every single other dimension is nearly 100% dense. Quite truthfully, in a cube of this many dimensions, I have never seen data be 100% dense like this (usually with this many dimensions its more around the .01% dense max, usually even lower than that). Is it possible that the way you generated the test data would have caused this to happen?
If so, I would strongly encourage you to go back to your "real" data and run the same queries and post results. I think that "real" data will produce a much different profile than what we're seeing here.
If you really do want to try and aggregate this dataset, I'd do the following:
    1. Drop any dimension that doesn't add analytic value
Report currency is an obvious choice for this - if every record has exactly the same value, then it adds no additional information (but increases the size of the data)
Also, data source falls into the same category. However, I'd add one more question / comment with data source - even if all 3 values DID show up in the data, does knowing the data source provide any analytical capabilities? I.e. would a business person make a different decision based on whether the data is coming from system A vs. system B vs. system C?
    2. Make sure all remaining dimensions except TIME are DENSE, not sparse. I'd probably define the cube with this order:
    Account...........dense
    Entity..............dense
    IntCo...............dense
    Category.........dense
    Time...............sparse
    3. Since time is level based (and sparse), I'd set it to only aggregate at the day and month levels (i.e. let quarter and year be calculated on the fly)
    4. Are there really no "levels" in the dimensions like Entity? Usually companies define those with very rigid hierarchies (assuming this means legal entity)
Good luck with loading this cube. Please let us know how "real" this data is. I suspect with that many dimensions that the "real" data will be VERY sparse, not dense like this sample is, in which case some of the sparsity handling functionality would make a huge benefit for you. As is, with the data being nearly 100% dense, turning on sparsity for any dimension other than TIME probably kills your performance.
Let us know what you think!
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • 11.1.1.7.1 wls install questions

I have the following Questions/Comments related to the latest version of MapViewer Install on WebLogic/Windows Server (WLS ver 10.3.5.0)
    1. When installing MapViewer, the documentation suggests not needing to expand the ear file, but there is some question as to where to get an initial version of the MapViewerConfig.xml file. I assume you can pull if from the documentation, but shouldn't there be copy external to the ear file? (or do you copy it from the deployed version)
    2. Specifying the location of the MapViewerConfig.xml file. Section 1.4.2.1 suggest setting a property in the setDomainEvn.sh file. It is assumed that the windows equivalent file is "setDomainEnv.cmd". There is no "–Djava.awt.headless=true" property within the "setDomainEnv.cmd file. (note it is not contained within the setDomainEnv.sh in WLS ver 10.3.5.0 either. I successfully deployed this within the java options, but not exactly sure it is in the correct location.
    3. http://www.example.com:8888/mapviewer/omserver?getv=t returns Ver11_1_1_7_1_B130516 -- assume this works
    4. http://localhost:8888/mapviewer -- login works.
    5. http://localhost:8888/mapviewer/fsmc/tutorial/demos.html -- doesn't work. In reviewing the deployed version, no tutorial folder exists -- how do you get to the tutorials?
    6. When performing a MapViewer restart from within the Admin page, WLS provides an error stating that the mds.xml file was missing from the MapViewerConfig.xml folder. Should this file be there? This was not in the install instructions (to my knowledge).
    Thanks

    1. Yes we will bundle the config files (there are two now, mapViewerConfig.xml plus the new mds.xml file) and upload them to OTN for download in the next couple days. In the mean time you can unzip the mapviewer.ear and the web.war file inside it to a temp folder, then copy the two .xml files from the WEB-INF/conf/ directory to the folder of your choice.
    2. We will fix the doc with regard to the reference of -Djava.awt.headless; but it sounded like you were able to add the -Doracle.maps.config option to that file. To verify if this option was actually picked up and used by mapViewer, you can log into mapViewer's admin console, click Management then Configuration. On top of the configuration data, there is a File Location field which shows where the mapViewerConfig.xml file is being loaded.
    5. The new mapviewer.ear no longer ships any tutorial/demo/sample request or online API docs; all of those are now packaged into the separately deploy-able MVDEMO application (which you can download from the same OTN mapviewer site since version 11.1.1.7.1). This was mentioned in the 11.1.1.7 release note (http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/mapviewer/mapviewer_11p6_readme.txt).
    6. Please refer to 1 above about needing both .xml files (mds.xml and mapViewerConfig.xml) for mapviewer to function properly.
    thanks
