Question deploying and imaging Windows 7

So I have my 2 answer files fully automatic. Added drivers with WDS.
The problem is now Windows Updates and Applications. What should I use? SCCM or MDT or WDS msi packages? What is the easiest way.

Hi,
To use which tool that depends on your requirements of the deploy environment. I suggest we first take a check with the following article:
Choose the Right Microsoft Deployment Tool
More information regarding SCCM, MDT and WDS, please check :
SCCM: System Center 2012 Configuration Manager,
MDT: Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, WDS:

  • After Deploying an Image: Windows Boot Manager - Missing ACPI.sys

    Hi,
I am currently working on deploying a Windows 7 Pro x64 image to a number of clients over our network using FOG. We used KVM in Ubuntu to build the base image. The image has a small virtual disk for the Windows installation and is deployed to clients with larger
drives. Prior to capture the image, we ran sysprep /generalize /shutdown /oobe /unattend:unattend.xml, then boot the VM to the FOG client and let FOG save off the disk image. We then deploy the image to clients over FOG.
FOG successfully copies the image over, then reboots the PC. The computer attempts to boot from the local hard drive, then fails at the Windows Boot Manager screen, saying:
    Windows boot manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause....
    File: \Windows\system32\drivers\ACPI.sys
    Status: 0xc0000098
Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt.
I've updated the client's BIOS, tried a different hard drive, used ATA secure erase to wipe the drive before formatting, and still encounter this same issue with certain client computers. Are there any other steps I can take to resolve this issue?
What files in Panther should I look at (or post) to troubleshoot? I don't see anything too obvious in diagerr, and sestuperr.log is just about empty.

We're using two models of 120GB SSDs, and deploying to 5 different motherboards (4 Intel models + 1 MSI model). The issue is most common with the DH55TC Intel boards.
We're using FOG due to budget limits--otherwise, WDT definitely would have been considered.

  • VS2013 - I cannot deploy and debug windows phone 8.1 store app to windows phone device

Hello, I create a project from C#-> Store Apps -> Windows Phone Apps, but  I cannot deploy my apps to my blue device. There was a error message show "Element not found". I can run the app from Blend, and found Blend package the app to Appx
file. Is any method that we can deploy store app into windows phone blue device directly and how to debug it on VS 2013?

    Hi,
    Welcome to MSDN.
I am afraid that this is not the proper forum for this issue, since this forum is to discuss and ask questions about the Visual Studio Debugging tools, Visual Studio Profiler tools, and Visual Studio Ultimate IntelliTrace.
Since your issue needs professional windows phone knowledge, and there is dedicated forums for windows phone development issues
Windows Phone Development forums, you could choose one of its sub forums depends on your issue like  Tools
    for Windows Phone development or
    Developing for Windows Phone .
In addition, I did a research, you could check whether the following links help.

I wouldn't mind having a scrollable div on the page but i can seem to change the css of the scroll bar and feel thsi may cause problems when using various browsers..

  • C:\Windows and C:\Windows\System32 folders are empty after Deployment

I hope you won't find me crazy because of this question, but I have the weirdest thing !@#
We deploy Windows 7 x86 SP1 in our organization.
Our image is a WIM file that is deployed with SCCM 2012 OSD and we are "Baremetaling" PCs. nothing is being migrated or saved from the current PCs
we configured the driver packages for 4 different hardware types (All of them Lenovo) and all are pilots were successful.
we just started not long ago to deploy the image in the production.
    the problem is:
All of the PCs work just fine after deployment. after a day or 2 , randomly, some of the PCs boot automatically to recover mode and fail on the startup repair action.
When I browsed the local disk I was amazed to see the folder C:\Windows contains only the C:\windows\System32 folder AND BOTH OF THEM ARE EMPTY!!
in this mode I can't even debug logs, event viewer, DaRT.... everything is lost!
it happens so far on 3 of 4 of the different hardware models, so we know it's not hardware related issued or driver.
I know it is very foggy information but I thought maybe someone else has ever ran into this issue and what was the cause
our guess is an update \ software on the base image that causes the damage, though it's a very similar damage for any opinion
any help will be appreciated! thanks
    Tamir Levy

    Hi Tamir Levy,
How can you check the C disk, we need to know the C: is a System disk not a 100M System Reserved partition in this situation.
I also would like to confirm, if you can run system restore from System Recovery boot prompt. If no, what the error message you get.
In additoin, I would like to suggest you try the following steps to check the issue:
    1. Run Check Disk from a Command Line to Check for and fix Disk Errors
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee872425.aspx
    2. I suspect it may be related to malware. You may try to make a full scan with an AntiVirus Scanner like Microsoft Security Essentials.
    Microsoft Security Essentials
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download
    3. Use another system image for a test.
Meanwhile, you can collect smsts.log file and detailed progress of OSD TS to get more details to check which problem you are having.
I would like suggest to you post the question on Windows System Center Configuration Manager Forum for further help.
    System Center Configuration Manager Forum
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/home?category=configurationmanager
    Hope it helps.

  • Custom Image deploy and custom default profile how?

    Hi,
I have custom created wim image(Windows 8.1 update2 x64 enteprise) with all programs that I want - like:
    Office2013
    7zip
    antivirus software
    etc...
Question is - Can I create default profile with my custom settings (control panel list icons, This PC icon show on desktop, Outlock icon pined on taskbar....)?
I am create custom start menu but all other settings I cant modify.
I am found sysprep solution and ansver file but it is to complicate and
    requires much more time.
Can I somehow copy administrator profile to default profile with all settings like I have in admin account?
I dont understood why microsoft prefer sysprep way for create image? I think that is much
    easier periodically create an image
with all applications and updates with default profile.
After implementing image wsus takes him for update and
    everyone is happy.

My latest issue - I am uninstall all store apps(with powershell some command with -online )for all users but apps
    appear again when the new
    domain user log in.
Too many problems. Thank you for your replay.
    Hi,
For this question, this because the default user profile still have these app installed.
And we need to set the default domain user profile without these apps to over-write the one on local machine:

  • Windows 8.1 Deploy and Capture stops with no error

I have a standard deploy and capture TS for Windows 8.1 using the volume media 'install.wim' file.
The only modification I have made is to add a few applications into the TS.
Once started from WinPE, the TS goes smoothly, deploying the OS and the applications. It then restarts and just goes to the login prompt. The TS doesn't continue as expected, rebooting to WinPE and running the capture.
I've checked the smsts.log file and I cant see any obvious errors or anything that could cause this behaviour. The only warning I can see is 'Active reqeust handle is empty, registering with new active request handle' though I'm not sure if this is even
    related.
So the process I see is:
    Boot to PXE WinPE
Select build and capture TS for windows 8.1
    Install OS
    Install Apps
    Restart
    Login screen
    Anyone have any ideas?
    SCCM 2012 R2
    Windows 8.1 Professional

    Found the solution.
Was due to one of the apps I was installing requiring .NET 3.5.

No idea if Windows will do it, but you can run Windows without Bootcamp & have OSX available at the same time, which should give you all the Monitors that OSX uses.

Hi, planning to buy MD101, I will most be working on photoshop, playing live/audio production, occasionally render videos, mild gaming-prototype.gta4 types..my question is mac or windows? my budget stops at MD101 and no further :/

    Hey thanks for the reply
its not like i must...but i do prefer apple for build quality and the way the os uses the hardware..
Priority of the laptop will be:
1- Going live with it, using softwares like ableton like or garageband to trigger samples and ambient patches with MIDI keyboard.
    2- Designing on photoshop
3 - Occasional video rendering mostly non hd but good quality like youtube 720p
4 - Gaming when i am bored - I am not at all into gaming but i would surely love to play some
But i want something that will be durable/storngly built and its hardware/processor good enough to run for 3-4 years.
Now if a laptop then which one?
    Thank you

  • Cropping question: image window disappears

Lately, when click after cropping an image in CS5 the image window disappears.
    Rashid Arshed

You probably have some values entered in the width, height or resolution fields.
With the crop tool selected, either click on the Clear button or right click on the Crop icon in the tool options bar and select Reset Tool.

  • Image window maximize over title bar and tools

    Hi,
im working on a PC , with windows 7, with photoshop CS5
i searched everywhere for answer , but none was given..
people did mention this problem, but for different photoshop versions , and, i had it good till i dont know what happened and changed it, so i believe it is fixable but people understood it wrong.
anyhow, the problem is, when you try to maximize the image window (assuming you changed it from tabs), the window maximize all over the screen, over the tools and title bar.
instead of staying inside the workspace.
as i mentioned, it used to be like it , but something happened and now its all over the thing.
i tried double click the hand tool, all sort of things with the "F" and Tab shortcuts, the arrange documents thing on the top, even trying to restore default setting but nothing really did the trick.
i tried to look for something called "Application frame", that somehow suppose to do just that, under window->Application frame, but its not there.
again, it used to be ok so i know there is still hope..
here it is restored, under "fit screen" option, notice it only get the hight right, i would not call it "fit screen" but what ever..
red circels show the title bar and tools.. very nice and cool.
and this is when i hit the maximize button and unleash hell, red circles are where the title bar and tools were, not so nice and cool..
i noticed none of the others gave pictures, so i gave it a go..
please help, there are no words to describe how annoying it is.
    thank very much in advance.

If you want the Photoshop main window components to remain visible, either right-click on the image with the Zoom Tool selected and choose "Fit on Screen" (which really fits it inside the Photoshop workspace), or use Tabbed View.
Pressing Control-0 (control zero) is a shortcut for Fit to Screen.
I have no idea why Adobe changed the behavior.  Perhaps people reported that it was annoying to have the maximize window button not actually maximize the document window to fill the screen, which is really what it's supposed to do.
