The tool shop of my working version of Elements 10 has suddenly stopped working. The main screen is there, but most of the tools, including the healing spot brush are not functioning. I reinstalled the disks (took some time) and the problem remains. Anyway I can get tech support on the phone?

Quit the editor, then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift (command+option+shift for a mac). Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

I deleted a video clip off of my Winows Live Photo Gallary and it immediately impacted my Adobe video I was creating at the time. For a rookie like myself this was confusing so I re-stored it re-entered back into the video and everything was good.
Even though I still had the images and video stored on my camera software I needed to export that back into Window Live.
Now I have a ton of video clips even with 8.0 GB I have to think of removing some eventually. What should I do? Question I use this for marketing purposes for my company once I save a video I created to my computer is it safe to remove clips from that same movie? I do have an external hard drive for storage space but its a pain to use it I like having old clips on my sytem and I use what I need from them in future marketing. How should I go about this safely so I can make space and store it away safely with ez access please. Thank you for your time.

I took at look at the situation that you described when you deleted a photo from Windows Live Photo Gallery and that created problems with a Premiere Elements project (probably a Media Offline/Missing Media Message).
My bottom line conclusion: When you delete individual photos from the Windows Live Photo Gallery, you are deleting originals from the computer hard drive save location. If these same photos are being used in a Premiere Elements project, you are in trouble since Premiere Elements needs to link back to the photo original at its hard drive save location. (Premiere Elements has copies, not originals, and depends on that link back to originals.)
What you also should look into are the Windows Live Photo Gallery Options which may be automatically scheduling the deletion of items from the computer hard drive.
If you used the Elements Organizer for organizing these photos, that program allows you to delete just the photo thumbnail in the Elements Organizer and not the original from the hard drive as well.

Yes, since the clips are in the movie. But, if you want to reuse the project that created the movie, no it is not safe. And, if those same clips that went into this movie are being used in another project, no it is not safe.

Look into the Project Archiver (Trimmed or Copy option) for saving projects along with source media.

How do I turn off the "who's this?" boxes in Elements 10? Also, does starting a new catalog improve the speed? I have about 8500 pictures in my catalog. I just upgraded from 6, and 10 is much slower. I thought turning off some features might help. Advice?

Try turning off all the auto features in Organizer.

Quizzes: Questions and Answers are overlapping in

After creating quizzes in the Quiz Manager, the questions and answers are overlapping in my presentation.
I tried playing with the Appearance options of the Quiz manager and the Master Slide but nothing seem to help.
Also, the radio buttons are not constantly aligned with their corresponding answers.
Could you please help me?

There's actually a couple of reasons why the question element and it's corresponding "distractor" (aka the answer) are not lining up. First and foremost, using the Appearance feature is only really meant to configure the styling of your text elements; its not very useful at all when it comes to alignment issues and that's what's going on with your example (thanks for providing the jpg!!!)
Need to ask you this: did you make any changes to your answers "after-the-fact"? Meaning, that at one time you had an answer programmed into your question, but then did you decided to manually change your answer on the slide WITHOUT going back into the Quiz Manager to do so?
I ask b/c I've seen instances where editing the answer/distractor to a question messes up the vertical alignment of the text element.
That said, here's what you can try: If you select the "grouped" text box for the answer, you can change it's vertical alignment by setting it to "top".
Just remember that all answers that are created by Presenter are grouped items and MUST REMAIN SO! Do NOT ungroup any of the question components, or your question will cease to function properly.
One other thing you need to know: the placement of the question elements (radio buttons, distractors, etc) are ABSOLUTELY controlled by the positioning of your Slide Master's Text Frame. This is why your question paragraph is being impacted by the question item (answer) that follows.

Cannot Order Front/Back a Question Rollover Caption

Following from another post, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/609673, I cannot z-order the Rollover Caption when it's on a Question slide. I right-click the text caption and the Order -> Bring to Front / Send to Back options are grey / disabled. Is this a bug? Any workarounds/ideas?

Unfortunately Question slides are a bit of a different beast. I'm thinking about all you can do with this is to ensure the caption isn't obscured by Question elements.

Limiting attributes of multiple elements with XML Schema

I am working with a curriculum development group and we are trying to get all of their content into and XML format so that it can be easily displayed by a browser and parsed by our application. For quiz pages we would like to do something like the following:

well, you create 4 sequences where each sequence has a different team winning, and then choice these 4 sequences together. Admittedly, that would be ugly.

Audit Management: Question List (questionnaire)

There is a scenario where a questionnaire is required to be created at the time of 'Opportunity Creation' in order to perform some checks. This is required to be incorporated within the opportunity flow. example: based on the asnwer in question the status of the opportunity would change.
In this context:
1. In configuration IMG --> CRM --> Audit Management --> Question List, there is a option "Question List". Could that be used for this purpose ?. If 'Yes' than Is it possible to use these questionnaire for other application then Audit Management ?
2. Is there a option to create a questionnaire in SAP-CRM (sales) and assign it to the opportunity flow ? how this can be achieved?
3. What can be the other approach options to achieve this functionality ?

Using input text that's in a MC

Hi all -
Tearing my hair out on this, and it seems like it shouldn't be that difficult.
I've got an input text box (opAnswerTxt) that I've added to a movie clip (questAns) using AS3:
questAns.addChild(opAnswerTxt);
That's fine -- I'm able to type text into the text field. Now I need to trace this text. (Ultimately, I will want to capture the text in a variable and then reuse the text in a dynamic text field, but just tracing to make sure I can get the text first.)
I added a button (opSaveBtn) - also to the MC - and added an event listener to the button:
questAns.addChild(opSaveBtn);
opSaveBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, saveOpInput);
but can't seem to trace the input text. Here's what I'm using:

My output is the original default text I have in the text box, rather than the text I just typed in.
When I add the input text box to the stage, rather than to the MC, it works fine.
Note: I've tried targeting the instance -- see the following -- but I get an error.

Also tried trace (MovieClip(root).questAns.opAnswerTxt.text) and that didn't work either.

Thanks for your quick response. You may be right on this. The MC (and child text box and button) are all within a loop that's parsing an external XML file.
Basically, I'm trying to create a "form". The questions are in the external XML file (so they can be updated by the customer later). I've got a loop that's parsing the XML file and creating an MC for each question element it finds. The two things I need to solve are:
1. I want to be able to "save" the input text in each of the input fields, so if the user navigates away from this frame, the text they input last time isn't lost. Ideally, I'd like all of the input text fields to display whatever text they entered last time -- but they should still be an input field so they can edit the text if they want.
2. I want to be able to print (or save to a text file) ALL of the question and answer text fields. I believe I need to create a separate print job MC for this?

See i have made some changes accordingly but still there may be some problems. I dont know why you want your schema structure in circular one. (i.e. from question group you want to ref complex and again from it you are ref to question so it is giving name collision problem)
One another think do follow to mention the namespace (target and for your xsd) whenever you do your new xsd. Generally all project xsd's belong to only one namespace( but still as per your convience you can mention multiple)

How to get only direct child node by tag name

I am using the method
getElementsByTagName("")....
This works except the problem is my XML schema/file has some recursive tags,
I have a <question> element which can have an <answer> or another <question>.
When parsing the XML file I want to be able to get a list of sub questions for a given question, but only if it is a direct child of that question.
So if i have:

 <text>q3</text>

</question>If I'm dealing with the "q1" question I want only "q2" but not "q3". Whereas getElementsByTagName will take both q2 and q3. How can I achieve this.

You want only children and not other descendants? Then getChildNodes() and getFirstChild() and methods with similar names look like a good start.

When will Emoji actually work? (eg: with docomo / au)

I'm in Japan, was anticipating the Emoji update (if only so my girlfriend would stop teasing me about how 'primitive' the iPhone must be if it can't even do that) and... it doesn't work.
Or, rather, it does work, but ONLY within the Softbank network. Which is almost completely pointless, as you can pretty much guarantee that 75% of your friends will be on some other network, eg: Docomo or AU. So Emoji are still fundamentally useless while they work only between Softbank phones.
I can only assume that this is being worked on, so I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything at all as to some rough ETA for inter-carrier emoji support?

Well, I'd seen a very fleeting reference to the notion that there was a Japanese press release on the subject of emoji support (probably from Softbank rather than Apple) saying that proper multi-carrier support was coming at some point.
However i can't read enough Japanese to A) find the press release or B) read it even if I could find it, and find out whether it's now an Apple problem or (quite possible with the way the emoji codes are already translated between the carriers) whether this is now a Softbank problem. At the moment I think the carrier's own mail servers handle the on-the-fly transcoding of different codes from other carriers...
So maybe the question element here should be "does anyone know where the jaapnese press release is -- if it exists -- or other Japanese/Softbank info that may shed light on this". If it does, maybe someone can post a summary, or I can ask my girlfriend to translate it and see what the situation is... She was somewhat disappointed when I finally sent her an emoji-laden email and it turned up with nothing in it! (She's on docomo...)

Question re Accessing catalogues and files from an external hard drive in Elements 6.

Having just acquired an ehd, I have successfully carried out a trial back up of an Elements 6 2000 picture catalogue from an XP based PC, using the Elements 6 full back-up process. This process is intended to be used eventually to transfer this and other catalogues onto a new Windows 8 PC installed with Elements 11.
However, in the interim I would also like to be able to access the picture files and the catalogue data on the ehd from a Vista based laptop which also has Elements 6 installed. Can you please advise how to do this without carrying out a full restore process that would load all of the files onto my laptop's hard drive.
In transferring the picture files to the ehd I also seem to have lost the original file structure that was on my PC, as folders have been renamed numerically and are all held individually in the main folder of the ehd. Whilst this doesn't matter too much whilst the files remain on the ehd, provided the catalogue still knows where to find them, has the original file structure been permanently lost, or can I recreate it when I eventually restore the files and catalogue on the new Windows 8 PC?
I'm anxious to get this process right as I have a much larger catalogue to similarly back-up and transfer, once I have acquired the new PC, and was hoping to be able to similarly access this catalogue by my laptop from the ehd as there is insufficent hard disk space on my laptop to hold all the 20,000 files involved.

Thanks for your help re my original questions.
Reassured regarding not having lost the file structure of my pictures, and bearing in mind the relatively small catalogue I had backed up, I thought that rather than restoring by leaving the picture files on the EHD, I would after all restore to the laptop hard drive, as a trial run before dealing with my main catalogue.
The restore was successful but raised a number of further issues that I would appreciate your advice on:-
1) The original catalogue name was not used in the restoration process. The restored catalogue on the laptop has simply been named "Pictures". Is this normal and if I now rename the restored catalogue will this create problems with any subsequent supplementary backups of the catalogue?
2) In restoring the catalogue I heeded the Adobe Help and specified the Vista folder C:\Users\Maurice\Pictures as the location for the picture files rather than simply restoring the original XP folder structure. However, since I also wanted to retain the lower level folder structure of my XP files (which are basically date files) I then specified to "Retain the Original Folder Structure". This has resulted in the full XP folder structure being created within \Pictures on the laptop.
Is it possible to avoid this situation occurring, or will I have to remove the unwanted XP sub-folder structure from the laptop and reconnect the thumbnails in the Photoshop catalogue to the new file locations? Also if I have to move files in this way will I once again have problems with any subsequent restorations of the same catalogue?
I have also a couple of supplementary questions re the initial backup to the EHD which I have now looked at more closely:-
1) The original XP catalogue has 1853 picture files, (and this is identical to that subsequently restored on the laptop), yet in backing up the catalogue to the EHD it seems that in excess of 2200 picture files have been created. Why is this?
2) As previously advised the pictures are held on the EHD numbered sequentially as "b000001" etc, and due to my selecting the EHD top level root folder as the destination for the back up are held in F:\. Should I have created a new folder, say "Backup 1" on the EHD, and then specified this as the destination folder, as I am concerned that on backing up further catalogues the existing picture files will get overwritten and the Photoshop Backup and Catalogue files confused with previous backups? If so can I move the existing back up files to a new folder now without causing any problems?
Finally could you confirm what would have happened to the folder structure on the EHD had I carried out the Restore process by locating the picture files on the EHD but retaining their original file structure. Would the picture files have been copied into their original file structure for use by the restored catalogue and the duplicate backup files left unaltered, or would the backup picture files have been replaced by the restored file structure? Also would the "catalogue file" be transferred to the Laptop C:\ drive in this process or would this also stay on the EHD and be accessed from there by Photoshop?
Sorry for all the questions but I really want to fully understand what is going on before risking doing anything to move my main catalogue.
