Question: Error Code 4 InDesign CS6

How do I open an indesign CS6 file as a copy in attempts to retrieve the error code 4 message I am receiving? Right clicking does not give the option to open as a copy.

Adobe Indesign CS6 has issues, Adobe says not but only reaffirms with posts like this. We still have a problem here with Indesign and students opening files and getting an error code 4 or error code 5. Quit Indesign and open it again and the files are fine. If you keep trying opening and closing the files it eventually happens again with the error.
Like the lockfile gets corrupt and Indesign caches the problem or something. Not sure.

Question About Using InDesign CS6 Book Files

I am creating my first book file in InDesign CS6. It's not technically a book (with chapters and a TOC) but rather a collection of files that share the same style sheets.
Will there be any issues migrating from CS6 to CC?
Are there any other big issues I need to be aware of as a first time user of book files?

I would strongly recommend exporting the individual files from CS6 as .idml, then open and convert those in CC and add to a brand new Book (.indb). Don't overwrite any old files just in case.

Error code 1009 CS6

I'm trying to revamp a flash for a website, but I'm getting stuck with the coding. I'm trying to link buttons to external URLs and I keep getting the error code

I did to the best of my ability, which I must admit is limited since I'm a newbie at Flash. From what I can see the button is located in frame 1 of the main timeline. In a nutshell, I have 9 pictures that are movie clips and have a tween to fade them in as they appear. On top of each picture I put a rectangle that is set Alpha 0%. I made these into buttons so that I could make it possible to link them to a URL. In my limited experience this was the best way I could find for it to work. I am trying to help an employee get Adobe InDesign CS 6 installed on his Windows Computer.
We are wondering what the difference between these three options are when you are on the Download Program Page:

I see you're having a 0x61011bed error. I would love to try and help with that!
First thiong I would suggest would be a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
If that doesn't resolve your issues, I would suggest following through with the steps listed in this document on A 'Carriage Jam' or '0X610000F6' Message Displays on the All-in-One.

Upon installation I'm getting a checksum error code 6800.346.14.2.20041. I am running Windows Xp with Google Chrome, AVG virus and Adaware.

If you are trying to install Adobe Reader 9.3 (English version for Windows), try the standalone installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi; save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

CC 10.1 Error with InDesign CS6 When Opening a File

I have Adobe CS6 and came across an issue when a fellow employee sent me a file. When attempting to open an .indd file in InDesign, a dialog box popped up stating "Cannot open because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CS (8.1)" After noticing that I needed to update my CS version, I installed the updates and found that it now states "Cannot open because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CS (10.1)" What does this mean? I've checked and I have InDesign version 8.0.2. and I don't have any more updates to install. Can anyone explain to me why this error is occurring and how to resolve this? I've received an .idml version of the file I'd like to open and that seems to work, however I'd like to resolve this issue so as to prevent this again. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Adobe Indesign CS (10.1) is the latest version of Indesign which is the 2014.1 release. As you saw exporting the 2014.1 file to .idml allows you to open it with CS6.

How can I generate product's Request Code ( indesign cs6)

InDesign CS6 Links

Does anyone know if InDesign CS6 displays an alert if you link a missing file to an older version with the same filename? Or, if you link a missing file to a completely different filename? InDesign CS3 would display such an alert, which would give you the chance to catch a potential error. InDesign CS6 seems to link to whatever filename you click on, without question.

This is something you'll have to look after manually.
Probably best to never have files of the same filename.
You could have
imagename_v1.tif
imagename_v2.tif
or something that makes better sense.
But follow a naming convention.
I have images for the web all the time and I would save it as
homepage_170x120
homepage_500x250
homepage_50x50
this lets me know the right image for the homepage at the correct size.
I suggest you adopt a naming convention for your files to avoid confusions.

Update Failed Error Code: U44M1I216

I'm running Adobe Illustrator CS6 16.2.1 and Adobe Extension Manager CS6 6.0.5.9 on the latest Mac OS X. The Adobe Updater keeps failing with:

CS6 has been clean installed, the machine never had any previous version of CS installed. There are no logs available in /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers.
Please help resolving this. Adobe Products are fantastic but the occassional, unexpected issues with keeping them up-to-date is plain annoying.

I have finally solved the update on the Mac. It took a fair amount of digging to find the solution. It also appears that Application Manager takes a little while to figure itself out - I have just downloaded and installed Illustrator CS6 updates and Application Manager is still requesting that I update the software once I close and reopen Application Manager.
1) Remove Extension Manager altogether from your Applications folder.
2) Install a fresh Extension Manager manually via this link: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/AdobeExtensionManager 6.0.4All.dmg
3) Install the 6.0.5 update manually from this link: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/AdobeExtensionManager -6_0_5-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg
4) Just for giggles, once this is installed - plug in the Extension program from the following location manually: https://www.adobeexchange.com/api/AdobeExchange.zxp
5) Launch Application Manager - hopefully the Extension Manager update has been removed.

Adobe InDesign CS6 stopped working

Up until late last year I was able to export to EPUB format without problems. Later on, when attempting to export to EPUB, I began receiving the error "Adobe InDesign CS6 has stopped working". Even after reinstalling InDesign, the error persists. Any suggestions?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I also removed preferences and all other methods that are on the adobe websites. The only way I was able to access it was to add another user to my laptop and install using administration permissions. But I cannot access it from the original side which is the problem.

I removed the ObjectModel.dll to recreate it and got the same error. Completed a clean with the CS cleanup tool and downloaded/installed a fresh copy. Tested, same issue. Created new file, same issue.

You appear to be losing the network connection to your file. I think we're seeing a fair amount of this error, but I don't know a fix other than working locally. ID seems more sensitive than other apps in this regard.
