    Hello ,
I want to ask some question about ipads \
    How powerful is the iPad?
How useful is it for reading books, newspaper or magazines or for surfing the web?
Can you identify any shortcomings of the device?
    please help me

it's less powerful than your average computer. THink of it like a netbook but with a better processor.
It'll do fine for surfing (although if you browse a lot of flash based sites you will need to get a third party browser since safari doesn't accommodate it)
You may do OK on reading books, papers or magazines, especially if they have apps, but the ipad's screen is backlit, so it doesn't work well outdoors and you may need to fiddle with the brightness so that you don't get eye strain (it's just like doing too much reading from a computer screen)
I would say the biggest short comings are data transfer. Apple's preferred work flow is that everything is done via iTunes or the internet....well people dont' always have 100% reliable always on internet access so you can find yourself in a situation where you can't get things on/off the iPad.
By and large, it's a good device for day to day stuff, but is not a computer replacement.

  • Question re. iPad presentation - zoom on text?

    Hi,
I have used the InDesign CS5.5 and DPS to create a presentation to be viewed on an iPad. Having spent a lot of time what works, and what doesn't I now something I am nearly happy with.
One question that people ask though is why they cannot pinch open/zoom in on the page in order to make it easier to read the text, like you would on most iPad apps. Can I set this up with the text?
    Any one help with this?
    Many thanks

....only when there is no interactivity on that page.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • Question regarding ipad 3 replacement via warrentee.

I have a question, basically my ipad 3 is glitching. It is a 64gb ipad 3, I am fairly positive apple will replace it for me. Considering I purchased the two year warranty. However I am wondering, Will they replace it with a newer ipad model? Or will I simply get a refirbused used ipad 3. Considering that they took the ipad 3 off the market, I was wondering what the replacement would be.
-thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help.

Its going to be the same generation and model as the one you have.
That is, while they no longer sell iPad 3s they surely have refurbished stock available for replacements.

  • Question about Ipad authorizations

I am having trouble with my Ipad on a new hard drive, and am trying to troubleshoot it.  My question is this: Suppose I have 4 authorizations on my Ipad already (I know the limit is 5  and then I have to wipe them all out).  If I deauthorize 1 of those 4, does the count go down to 3, or does it stay at 4?
The reason I ask is, I still have one working computer that will sync my Ipad.  I am thinking of deauthorizing this new computer, uninstalling ITunes, and trying again, to fix my problem.
BTW my problem has been asked in another thread, and has not been solved in that thread or similar threads.  It's the "grayed out apps" problem, and I see a lot of people get in this situation.

The 5 authorisation limit is for your iTunes account on computer(s) (not the iPad) - if you de-authorise your computer then it will go down to 3, and you can then re-authorise it. (Also the 'de-authorise all' can only be done once every 12 months.)
If your apps are greyed out on the Apps tab, then on the iPad is Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps set 'off'

  • Question Re iPad / i Phone sync

I think this is a pretty simple question.  I've had an iPad for years and yesterday I got my first iPhone. I do not want many of the apps for the iPad to be synced to the phone so here's my question.  Will iTunes remember these devices and sync each with the parameters I set up for each or will it just go with what ever the previous device uses?
    Thanks.

okay so i have tried all the suggestions on the help topic... i think the problem has to do with outlook connector because the two email addresses i use are live mail/msn addresses... any ideas?

  • Boring question! iPad 3 or 4?

Hi all, I have a total of 12 Apple devices...all great! My iPad 2 has, and continues to, perform well!
My wife has an iPad 3 and recently returned from a holiday in Noumea.
I must say, when she loaded up her pics, the display and the images surprised me quite a bit.
Sure, I have read all the stuff on the Retina display, and had only used her iPad 3 briefly some months back.
I happily convinced my self my display was quite acceptable.........and it is!!
BUT, last night her pics of the Noumea harbour, beahes and people, blew me away! The pics were taken on a fairly new
Samsung (sorry!!).....her Nikon is in for repair...and while she does not claim to be a photographer.....I guess I do!!
I have a range of Nikon DSLR's and the images are little short of amazing......but her results as shown on her 3, were outstanding!!
As a consequence I have decided it's time to sell my 2 and update.
To what you ask? Well initially I thought a new 4, but seeing some excellent re-furbs on Apple's website, made me stop and think!
I recently bought a refurb MacBook Air from Apple and it seems as NEW! I am delighted with the display and portability.
So, while I have studied carefully the blurb on the 4, I question the value of spending the additional $200+ for a new 4!
Yes the lightening connector would be great, my new iPhone 5 connector is terrific, but, apart from the chip upgrade, it's hard to see the value in the 4!
    Any views on this??

  • Question on IPAD's Speedy 4G Eats Data in a flash

When I purchased my brand new Apple's IPAD, 4G, I also purchased a 2G data plan.  Now comes the new that the my IPAD speedy 4G eas up data in a flash.
My question is:  I have already purchased and downloaded some Ibooks on my shelf.  So everytime when I open my book to read from the shelf, does this article I just mentioned applies?    In other words I am not accumulating additonal data that would gulp up my monthly 2MG data plan.

Ok your are thinking wrong way about this. The reports you are reading do not mean that by same usage as on old iPad your data goes faster. A random online video is a certain size, and it doesn't matter if you download it off iPad 2 with 3G to iPad 3 with 4g. The file size (let's say is 400mb). So both iPads will consume same amount of data. File sizes and your consumption of data does not change because you are on 3G or 4g device. The reason they see saying users use up 4g faster is because due to such significant increase in Internet speed, users go through a lot more content in the same period of time as it would have taken on 3G device.. So if you never busted over your 3G limit before I wouldn't worry about it.
Btw once you download a book you do not consume any additional data unless you bookmark or something along those lines because at that point iCloud will do a sync, but that's such a minimal consumption again that I wouldn't worry about it

  • Question: Lost iPad

I recently lost my iPad Air. I had turned the lost mode on but it hasn't been found since as it appeared offline. Right now I am waiting for him or her to connect to the Internet so the lost mode will be activated. However, is it possible that the thief had deleted Find my iPhone application thus I couldn't manage finding it? And are there anyway to know if my Apple Id is still signed in on iCloud on that device? Thank you so much.

  • Have a few questions about iPad before I get one

I have a few questions about getting an ipad before I committ to get one.
I have about 24 gb of itunes purchases in my itunes library, I am thinking of getting the 64 gb ipad. However, after you purchase the 64 gb, it will not truly be 64 gb,
    1) how much actual storage space would I have on a 64 gb ipad accounting for the os? On my macbook now I have a 164 gb hard drive but only access to about 148 gb for example.
    2) Would I be able to store the 24 gb of itunes purchases in icloud? How would I do that? Would I keep needing to go into the Purchase History tab in the ITunes store and download the song when I want to listen to it? My concern with this is that the item will no longer be "available in the Itunes store" and I will lose access to my music I purchased?
I would like to ditch the laptop and just have the ipad as my computer but want to know about these questions I have first.
    3) Can ipad and iphone now be charged without needing a laptop? Per last year's June 2011 conference when Lion and ICloud were announced, it was stated in Fall 2011 with iOS5 that people could get ipads and iphones and charge them without needing a laptop for syncing?

    1. About 57 on mine
    2. Subscribe to iTunes Match at a cost of about $25 per year - 25000 song limit I think
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
    3. The iPad comes with a power adapter that plugs into a wall socket and that is the recommended way to charge it anyway. - not by using a computer

You do not absolutely need a computer in order to use an iPad but you have to do more research to figure out if it will fit your needs that way.

  • Question about ipads features?

wanting to know if its really worth it?i mean $700 and $829 for a 64 gb? my ipod bigger then that..it seems not worth it with such little storage..i mean for the price..i mean they're really cool and the in thing to have..also i would like to know can these play flash?or is it really just like a huge ipod touch or iphone?what makes it different from those?

    Well, it depends.
I see the questions you are asking are the usual trivial 'negative' points most anti-Apple posters ask (but are not really asking a question...just trotting out over-inflated features that were never designed into the iPad to begin with)
First. Price. The iPad's start at $499. Which is for a 16gb Wifi version. The prices you brought up are for the 32gb and 64gb Wifi-3g. Which hasn't even been released yet. A good netbook (new not refurbed) will run almost as much as the $499 model. The other tablets that are available, and not vapor-ware, cost as much and have thier own 'feature set' that has shortcomings. So, the prices are in line with what's available. Not overpriced.
Second. Flash. Ok, it does not run flash. When the iPad was released all the "Technology" writers poo-pooed this 'shortcoming'. This is actually not that big an issue. Many websites like ABC, CNN, ESPN, Netflix, and soon Hulu, are all writing HTML5 or Apps that are not Flash dependant. This will still leave some sites that are not useable for the iPad (or iPhone, Touch, and some other OS's). Matter of fact the highly touted 'iPad killer' Adam by Notion Ink is being delayed becuase of Flash incompatibilties (among other reasons). The Joo-Joo can, sort-of-kinda, run Flash but according to reviews it runs everything so badly it's a non-issue.
Third. Niche. The iPad is not a phone, a laptop, a desktop, a UMD, or even a netbook. It was designed and marketed as a 'third' device. A media consumption device. It's not a Kindle but can dance to the tune. It's not an iPod but plays music very well. It's not a replacement for a laptop or desktop but can run light content creation apps. It does email very well. It has a large and varied selection of apps that can make it a light duty presentation device.
In other words, it's not an anti-matter powered, coffee dispensing, hot tub time machine. It's a very portable 'about the house' or 'coffee shop companion'. As much as the "anything but Apple" critics wanna compare it to what is availabe (and things that are not even released yet) except for the Archos 9, there isn't anything that really is in the same market. The Archos 9 is cool, but, it has it's drawbacks too. Namely running a 'desktop' OS built for keyboard and mouse input on a 'touch-screen' device. The Lenova S10-3t is another 'tablet like' device that is well-built but because of requirements of legacy products and it's OS draws 'meh' reviews. Go look them up on Amazon and read the reviews. The iPad handily beats them in the market it's designed for.
If you don't understand this..or just posted it to get a rise out of us "Apple Users" go shopping somewhere else (PC)...they'll be more than happy to take your money and give you EXACTLY what you deserve.

  • Connector question for IPAD & BOSE SoundDock system

What type of connector do I need to connect my IPAD to my BOSE SoundDock Series II Speaker? I've tried everything and tired of spending money for the wrong connectors. Help??
    Thank you!

One has a battery in it that recharges so it is portable. The other that doesn't say portable does not have the rechargeable battery.
