Question for content engine

Hi,
I have a content engine 565A with ACNS 5.4.5.7, running http pxory mode. All of the windows clients setup proxy server to the content engtine. This day the windows client executed windowsupdate, but got the error message : 0x80072EFE. I have tried to setup a rule to ingore cached for the microsoft windowsupdate server, but it doesn't work. Can you help to identify this problem?
I want to bypass all of the windowsupdate server, but we can not use domain name in bypass command, it support IP addresses only. Is there any other solution to bypass some servers by domain ( for example : *.windowsupdate.microsoft.com ) ?

  • Questions for Content Server

    Dear All;
l have setup the Content server in Windows 2003 Standard Edition using the filesystem storage (not the MaxDB database), and the size of the document could be approximately 80GB (for the next few years), l didn't setup the Cache server.
All the attachment in the ECC will store into this External SAP Content Server.
    Question 1:
Can anyone advise whether the Content Server(filesystem) will be having performance issue while store/retrieve documents?  Is there any way to improve the performance of the Content Server?
    Question 2:
Security. what are the necessary security option that l need to configure for the Content server? at the moment, the Windows server still configure as full access for the Content Repository folder.  Otherwise the ECC will be having access denied problem when communicating with the Content Server.
    Question 3:
There are some attachment in ECC, how to l move those documents to Content Server?
    Please advise.
    Many thanks
    Jordan

When I say use certificates, there should be a checkbox with "check signature". This ensure that only sap machines with an active certificate can access the content server.
On the file system, I would ensure that no users have access to the file system through the backend. If they can modify documents, you will be sitting with major problems from a document integrity and legal perspective.
On the issue of migration, there is an oss note for the migration of data from one repository to another for archivelink.
    Check note number 1043676
    Symptom
You have created a new repository, and would like to migrate the ArchiveLink Documents to the new repository.
    Other terms
    Migration of documents, ArchiveLink, repository
    Reason and Prerequisites
This report helps migration of ArchiveLink documents.
To use this report effectively, you would need to ensure that you apply the note 732436. However, this note will allow the migration of documents from and to type of repositories which are supported by ArchiveLink. The types of repositories that are supported by ArchiveLink are HTTP, RFC and R/3 Database.
    Solution
Before you execute the report, you must set up a repository that can
store the documents (transaction OAC0). The repository may be in an
external archive(connected via  HTTP or RFC) or (as of Basis Release 6.10) in the OLTP database of the SAP system. You can also use SAP Content Server as an external archive for storing documents.
The report has the following parameters:
OLD_ARC ID of the old repository previously used
NEW_ARC ID of the new repository
TEST_RUN: If you enable this, only a test run occurs, copy of       documents does not occur.
DEL_FILE: If you enable this, then the files would be deleted from the old repository.
Launch the transaction SE38 and create a program with the name ZMIGRATE_ARCHIVELINK_FILES. Once the program is created, now copy the code from the correction instruction.

  • Is there any documentation on PHYS-FS for content engine

I am in process of replacing a fail disk on CE 5.5.11.2 model WAE-7326-K9. The disk currently has PHYS-FS, CDNFS, MEDIAFS and CFS configured.
Can someone provide details on PHYS-FS.

It's an entry for the physical filesystem.

  • Content switch & Content Engine

The documentation for COntent Engine says that it can interface with ICAP server to scan the incoming URL request. Is that possible to do the same on the CSS switches? if not what is the method you can use on CSS switches to be able to scan incoming URl request?
    thanks in advance.

Yes, you are right. The content engine can interface with ICAP server to scan the incoming URL request. On the CSS switches i think it is possible. But personally i have not tried it out.

  • Topology question for PowerPivot for SharePoint engine

We currently have a SP2013 farm with two web front end servers, two application servers and a SQL 2012SP1 SQL Cluster.  We plan to expand the farm with all BI functionalities by adding another application server to SP2013 farm, which will be dedicated
to all BI services, such as Excel service, PowerPivot, SSRS integrated mode, PerformancePoint, etc. and two Database servers (belong to DBA team): one of which will be used for Data Warehouse, another one for SSAS instances, including Multidemensional Cube
instance, Tabular mode instance. My question is where is the best place for PowerPivot for SharePoint engine.
    1. On the server that holds all SSAS engine (DBA team's server)
    2. On the new dedicated SharePoint BI application server
Theoratically, PowerPivot for SharePoint engine is only used by SharePoint, so it is better not mixed with those SSAS instance that needs DBA to assign permission. Of couse it'd be better if we can have a dedicated server for PowerPivot engine,
but we don't. If it is mixed with MD Cube engine and Tabular Mode engine, it might compete resource more than put it on dedicated SharePoint BI application server. In addition, will separating PowerPivot service application with its engine cause more network
traffic and affect performance. Will it be better if we just put it on SP2013 dedicated BI Application server?
    Like to hear your opinion.

Here's a way that I've seen implemented to switch sources amongst workbooks:
Create a "master file" Excel workbook that contains only the PowerPivot data model, and a blank Excel worksheet.  Upload this to SharePoint and create a BISM connection in the PowerPivot Gallery that points at this workbook url.  Here's a link
    describing a BISM connection:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg471575.aspx
If SharePoint is configured correctly, you can click on the icon for an Excel workbook from the BISM connection in the gallery.  This will open a thin client Excel workbook that has a data connection to the BISM.
Develop your reports in the thin client Excel workbooks.  The reports will be smaller files since the entire data model is not in them.  Also, all reports will be pointing to the same data model hosted on SharePoint (via the BISM connection) to
    keep things maintainable.
Treat the "master file" Excel workbook containing the PowerPivot data model in the same way that you would treat an OLAP cube.  Keep Dev, UAT, and Prod versions in each environment.
When migrating a new report from Dev to UAT, just modify the data connection to point at the UAT BISM instead of the Dev BISM.
Long term, if a decision is made to make the solution an SSAS Tabular instance, the BISM connection can be "re-pointed" at the SSAS instance and the reports will still work.  In this way, your reports can have Dev/UAT/Prod environments, the ability
to promote the solution to SSAS, and there should not be a need for rework if the design of the underlying model is maintained.

  • Content Engine Network Module for Caching File Server Objects

We have a content engine network module for a 2821 router located at a branch office that we'd like to use for clients to obtain locally cached file objects from a Windos server located at our headquarters or corporate office. I've been looking for some sample configs or documentation that will show me that this is possible and on how to do it since this is my first time ever doing. All I was able to find so far was the link below under "Support of Preloading of NTLM Authenticated Objects", but it seems incomplete in providing configuration tasks that most CCO doc's usually provide. Has anyone else had any luck finding some useful doc's or sample configs to get this accomplish? Thanks in advance.

You can't cache Windows Files using the Cache Engines.
You CAN do this using WAFS though. I'd suggest looking at the WAFS (or upcoming WAAS) products, which use WCCP like the Cache Engines to transparently redirect Windows File Sharing requests.

  • Cisco Content Engine for Content Filtering

    Hi All,
I am looking for a low end solution for Content Filtering and would like to use Cisco Content Engine.
    1. The documentation said that Websense, Secure Computing SmartFilter (does not require separate SmartFilter) & N2H2 support is there on the CE. I used configurator on CE 510, but it did not give me option for any of those. I would appreciate any input in this regard.
    2. Also, I assume that once I get a Content Engine, I don't need to use Microsoft Proxy any more, please confirm.
    regards,
    Ahmer Ghazi

You would have to Install the Smartfilter software on the Content engine that would work with the ACNS software running on the CE. SmartFilter software operates inside your network to control user access to external Internet resources and allows you to restrict access to World Wide Web pages, newsgroups, and FTP sites.
    For more details refer:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/uce/acns41/smrtfltr/sf_chap1.htm
The Content Engine does the job of storing content locally and serving it to the users, so you would not need to use the Microsoft Proxy.

  • Content engine DNS question

We're using the content engines to cache web & ftp traffic.
If we have multiple DNS servers listed, does the content engine use them from top-down (if not found from 1st, go to next), or in rotation (like round-robin)??
We have multiple domains that require multiple DNS servers to work together, and there are DNS records that only each DNS server knows about.
The server I listed on top has records that are more frequently requested, so I'm hoping it's the top-down fashion.

Content Engines with ACNS 5.1 software can intercept DNS requests that have been issued to DNS servers (forwarders or recursive) that traverse the interception device. Upon receiving a request, the Content Engine transmits that response to the client if it has a current cached response. For more information refer

  • Content engine for video on the LAN

    Hi
I have a video server on the LAN. I want to position the content engine on the LAN to use it for stream splitting to avoid loading the video server. Can i do this i.e. placing the Content engine on the same network as the source? Or could I use the Content engine module on the router. If so then how do I connect it?
    Thank you
    Sanj

I suggest that you use the content engine module on the router.

  • Find replication status for individual content engine?

Anyone know how to find the replication status (% complete) for a particular content engine in a Content Distribution Network? Right now I can only see it for channels, so the only way I can see is a work-around -- put the content engines in individual channels... Since I have 100s of CEs and that's more than the CDM allows, that won't work for me..
    Any other ideas? Thanks

You can use box-links to see the replication status. This is done using the following url
    http:///cgi-bin/status/cache
Scroll down to the Cache section. There are 2 parts size and current size. This is a good the exact indication item by item of replication.

  • Should the Content Engine work while the Inernet link is down ?

I have installed CE590 in a client network
The http saving performance is from 30 : 40 %
My client want to make sure the CE is caching the web site
He want to shutdown Serial port of the main router , and try to browse web sites. ( the Cached sites )
Should he get a reply from the CE and browse the cached sites ??
I mean , Can the PC browser ( while the internet is link is down ) open page like www.yahoo.com for example if it is cached on the CE ??
Is there is any command of the CE that can display the name of the cahced web pages ?
Note : Cisco Content Engine Software Release 3.11
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks
    Mohamed Abdallah

    Mohamed,
Before you go any futher you need to upgrade the CE to ACNS 4.2.3. There are known issues with 3.1.1.
To answer your question the CE will only server content if it can not access the internet if the object is fresh. By this I mean the object has not expired or the object does not need revalidation eg If modified since request.
This could cause problems with broken pages etc etc.
Your best option is to turn on transaction logging.
    transaction-logs enable
You can then go to the local1/logs directory on the CE
    type working.log
This will show you the urls that clients are requesting and if they got a hit / miss/ ims hit / ims miss etc etc.
Overall your cache should always have access to the origin server for content.
    Cheers

  • Rate Limiting - Will Content Engine 590 solve my problem?

We have a Cache Engine 550 deployed in our network which is great for reducing traffic on the Link to the Internet, however I have now run into a little problem with the device as we are now trying to implement Bandwidth Shaping using the existing Cisco infrastructure and thus the Cisco IOS.
One of the IOS features concerned is Committed Access Rate (CAR).
We would like to do some traffic shaping according to certain IP Protocols such as FTP, HTTP as well as rate limiting certain of our customers (IP Blocks) so that they don’t saturate the Serial link to our ISP.
The problem we have is that the Cache Engine 550 replaces the original requestors IP with its own as it (the CE) now takes over as the requestor to the Internet – thus we have all HTTP traffic via our ISP having the source as that of the Cache Engine.
Due to this we cannot “Rate-Limit” a particular customer (IP range).
    Question-------
Does the Content Engine 590 (ACNS, ICDN) enable me to complete my task and control the Serial connection the way I would like to?
Can I do a sort of “IP Spoofing” so that the original IP is still in place, but the Content Engine still does its job of Caching?
I have already looked at the Packeteer – unfortunately it only has Ethernet ports.
The WiseWan 401 with HSSI port looked promising, but I feel that even though it will do great shaping and graphs it will still not solve the problem of a saturated link upstream to the ISP (from the boxes point of view), I will still sit with packets being dropped and thus bandwidth wasted.
Anyone out there with any other solution?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lutz.

    Hi,
We have just implemented IP spoofing in version 4.2 of ACNS code. (Caching) which will only run on a 590/560/507/7320 cache.
Version 4.2 sould be available at the end of July early August. This will slove you problem with identifing traffic to rate limit.
    Cheers

  • Content engine 590

trying to connect a content engine 590 to a cisco router which will have web-cache enabled.
The diagram is like this: pc (lan)- fa0/0router-isp. the engine is on the same lan of fa0/0.
One question bother me is the keyword "in" and "out" from ip wccp web-cache redirected in /out. Noticed new version supports the "in"option. Little confusion about the "in" and "out". Does "out" mean : if the pc send http via fa0/0 to router, since the keyword "out" the router will redirect the http out to the fa0/0 to engine? then keyword "in" is useless. Or the other way,"in" means allow incoming traffic from fa0/0 to be redirected? Confused.
Hope to get a good explanation here. Thanks very much.

in and out tells the router where to intercept the HTTP request from the client.
So, you can intercept on inbound - incoming interface - interface where traffic enters the router. This is the "IN" keyword.
You can also intercept it on outbound - outgoing interface - interface where traffic is normally forwarded by the router. This is the "OUT" keyword.
In your case you want the 'in' on interface fa0/0.
One reason to go for 'in' is much better performance than out.
[but you could do out on the serial interface going to your isp]
If the cache is on the same interface as the clients, you need the command 'ip route-cache same-interface' on interface fa0/0 to permit traffic to be redirected to the cache correctly.

    Gilles.
