Question for Film composer ( re bar )

Dears,
sometimes when you are working on a cue for film happen that your song start
(for ex.) at measure 250, because working on entire reel . My question is :
( I know other software are capable of..) Is possible to RE_BAR ?
In a few words is possible to transform ( example) measure Number 250 in measure Number 1 ?

ok if you have been given reels, you should have BITC (burnt in timecode - ie TC which shows up in your video) and you should make logics TC match. so if the first reel starts at 01:00:00:00 then you should make sure that as logic plays back the video its TC matchs.
if you try to cut time that would mean the smpte position of the first tempo (@ bar 1) would be a minus number, then logic will shift the tempo positions so that the first tempo is 0:00:00:00, meaning you will be out of sync with the video. if you started your project with 01:00:00:00 as your start of the first frame of the film, then you have a whole hour to play around with as your run up to the beginning of the film (of course you would never need as much as that but there you go).
i am assuming you are using digitized video and the movie as float. if you have used a capture device to digitize the video and the beginning of your QT movie is something like 00:59:52:12 for arguments sake, then you need to make your movie start line up with 01:00:00:00 at bar 1 in logic (which should also be set to have the first tempo at 01:00:00:00).
DO NOT use smpte offset, esp if you are not familiar with it. it will just create a lot of confusion. instead adjust the movie start on the QT movie you are using in logic to make the BITC match logics time code. once you have that set, you will never need to touch it again. you will be able to cut time, insert time and do whatever and the picture BITC and logics TC will always match.

Inspector Bug? and question for Speed Users.

Two Part Question
I noticed after working with around 4 or 5 tracks containing 2 samplers and a few synths, the inspector fails to update when I press up or down to select different tracks in the arrange window. I have to click on the track name pull down arrow in the inspector to make it update to what track I have selected. Has anyone experienced this or can anyone help? I consider myself new to logic even though I have used it off and on for years. I just cant operate it as fluidly and quickly as protools, but I refuse to give up because I love making music with it.
My next question is making the playback always snap to last play position like pro tools default behavior. I use a key command but I'd like to press space bar twice to stop playback and play from same spot again. without using cycle points or a key command. yes I'm lazy and I want 1 less button to push I'm sorry. But I have finally accepted that it operates differently than pro tools and I embrace but this one function really gets to me. I actually don't understand why this isn't default being that when you're creating music and you stop. Doesn't that mean the next thing to do is listen to what you just did? Out of curiosity why is this pause function the default, a sound for film thing?

I have also experienced the inspector not linking or updating in response to track selection. Not alot, maybe twice since the update to L8. It's also not something I've ever discovered a reason or condition for.
Logic will absolutely snap to last play position and behave the way you want, but having the green locator bar engaged is the key. It's not something you have to futz with, you can just keep it engaged all the time if you like, move it to a new location as needed. You can just disregard the end point, make it something arbitrarily way longer than you need, and it's just your start point.
I'm not sure why you don't want to use the "cycle points" although I also migrated from PT and initially didn't grasp the green locator bar (or whatever it's called.) In L7 it was named and documented in such a way as to have you thinking it was for repeating or cycling things, but that's far from it's only purpose - for me it's not even a function I use. It's the start point, a way of aligning regions or notes very quickly, spotting audio to picture, defining the length of a bounce, tons of useful stuff.

hi sorry what happoned is that ages ago i brought a i phone 3gs on 02 network i went to a sml phone shop and payed for them to unlock it. it has been fine till yesterday when i went to reset it from the phone it then turned off and came back on just just an image of a apple for about an hour so i connected to i tunes and it said downloading software after another hr it had finished but then i tunes said in had to insert a sim so i had to un plug the phone from laptop while i did this i put my orange sim in and the i phone said where do i live and had to connect to a internet connection but all the time saying no service where the signal bar is and then says activating i phone it took a few min and said couldnt finish it bec of the signal and to connect it to i tunes to do it so i connected it to itunes and i tunes just keeps saying invalid sim so i took my orange sim out and put a 02 sim in and is still saying invalid sim on itunes?

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.

First DSLR for filming

Hey everyone,
I am looking for a DSLR for filming purposes. I have been recently watching reviews and video footages to see which is the best for me. Obviously a 5d mark II or III would be the best choice but unfrtunately I cannot afford it.
I have also checked the 60D which looks amazing because of the lcd screen which is adjustable but it has lower image quality, the 6D which also has a full frame sensor as the 5D. But the 60D is cheaper.
Which one do you suggest?

I've used the 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, and T3i for professional productions. I've not used the 60D or 7D. But, to start out, you can't go wrong with the T3i or T5i. The video is more than acceptable, and most viewers can't really tell the difference between the 5D Mark II and the T5i, not to mention the 60D. Now, the 5D Mark III is in another category altogether! The 5D Mark III is by far the best for DSLR video, but it's a little pricey for your first camera.
I would acquire the T5i (don't remember the non-US model number) and some good lenses. You can spend the difference between the T5i and 60D or 7D on some good non-S lenses that you can use as you upgrade bodies in the future. Spend your money on lenses first, then bodies. Your lenses will serve you much longer than your bodies!
Once you know that a DSLR meets your shooting requirements (they're still-frame cameras first, and video cameras second), you can either sell your T5i or use it as a backup/second camera when you buy a 5D Mark III or other Canon DSLR. Keep in mind that there are major limitations with all DSLRs when it comes to video, and make sure you can live with those limitations.
The major benefit for video of the T5i is the fold-out LCD screen. You will be shooting from different angles (high or low), and you can adjust the screen to compose your shot. Otherwise, you'll need an external monitor, rig, or other relatively expensive gear to adequately compose your shots.
A previous poster mentioned the Panasonic GH3, and that is a great camera for video, but the product line is not as broad or deep as Canon's. I think your decision to say with the Canon product line is good. Good luck in your shooting!

I can't help you specifically with your question. But you might want to look at SAP's Mill products solutions. What you describe is very similar to what happens in the mills that produce things like carpet or rolled sheet metal. The carpet and metal are made in rolls measured in sq. ft. but very often managed and stored as EA. Defections are related to certain areas of the roll.

Creating web service system for Visual Composer

Hello,
I seem to have made some changes that made my unable to create web service systems for Visual Composer.
The change I made is in NetWeaver Administration > Configuration > Application Resources > WebServicesFactory, I added the Configuration Property "UseCacheByDefault" with Boolean value = true.
After this, if I create a web service system in Enterprise Portal, the Connection Tests fail. In Visual Composer when I define a web service system, the error I am getting is: "Connector Factory not found for value WebServicesFactory".
I have tried to delete the UseCacheByDefault property I added as well as restart the server but I am still getting the error.
However when I test my web service using the Web Services Navigator, I am not getting any problems. So my guess is the problem lies with the connection factory.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

Since creating WS system in the portal resulted with failed connection test, the issue has nothing to do with VC.
I'm just guessing, but try to configure proxy in the J2EE engine.
If that doesn't help I suggest you raise this question in the portal forum.

I got my N8 two weeks ago and I LOVE IT!!!!
Here is a list of my questions for your expert advice:
Remote Lock. I had this option on my E66, how can I set it up on my N8?
Can I adjust the touch screen sensitivity?
Can I adjust the Scrolling Speed? The scrolling function in my Messages and my Notes is too sensitive and fast; If I try to tap-to-scroll, it just selects text for copying!
Is Swype available for our N8? I can’t find it on Ovi Store.
Is there a Font Magnifier software available for the N8? I’ve adjusted fonts to the largest, but they are still not large enough for my eyes.
On Ovi Maps, how can I repeat the Voice Guidance? In my E66, I think I would   press the 4 key, but how do I do it in our touch screen?
I’ve paired the N8 and can make calls in my Audi, but the Signal Strength bar, the Recent calls and more so the phone’s Contacts Directory are not shown on the car’s screen, what can I do?
I love watching on the TV, but I have found no way to play subtitle (.srt) files, or to adjust the screen size on the TV, with a Zoom or other function. Are those options available?

What drummer_tom is pointing to is the Dual Channel config for RAMs.
Slot 1 + 3 or Slot 2 + 4 or all 4 slots installed, will give you Dual Channel performance and capacity. A win-win situation.
As for the Blue and Purple Sata connectors, the 4 purple SATA connectors are controlled by Intel ICH9R chipset and the 1 blue SATA connector is controlled by Marvell controller. Only the Intel controlled SATA ports are able to RAID.

The post suggests that the first thing to do is update to the latest version of software.
Alas the last update for E72 was 27 October 2010 which is flawed! I know as my phone has misbehaved since installing it and I see other users reporting similar if not the same issues here.

Question - How does one down grade to previous version?
The post then suggests "If you still experience problems, you can try if formatting your Eseries device helps. Format the device by dialling *#7370#. The device will request a security code, the default code is 12345 unless you have changed it."
Well actually on the E72 this does nothing! I Type in *#7370# and its displayed to me and nothing else happens. If I enter *#0000# I get the version number so it seems the software/firmware does not understand the code above!
I did try 'factory settings' option from one of the control panel menu's instead at some point of my misery but was surprised by just how little effect that had - many things were not reset.
If your still reading, I thought I would share some steps I have found to sometimes help on E72 when it appears to hang / stall:
1. Try holding down the home button and if the running applications bar is shown try closing the applications by pressing the delete (backspace) key.
2.- If that fails try pressing the off button and selecting 'offline' mode - This sometimes works - if it does then try previous point before going back to an online mode such as 'general'.
3. If that fails - try holding down the power button to turn device off - that sometimes works! But sometimes the keyboard lights simply stay on until the battery goes dead...
4. Remove the battery wait a moment and then re-insert battery. You may then have to enter the time and date. Do check your alarms - during GMT I noticed all my alarms would have incremented by an hour! Not seen this since BST started.

Very strange - or perhaps not that strange but just another issue.... I tried the Hard Reset code again at this time it worked!!! I'm now re-entering my details and remembering what I didn't back up But if it fixes my issues it will be worth it.
FYI from another fine post I found:
FOR SOFT-RESET:
- at Standby Screen type-in => *#7780#
It will ask for “Restore all phone settings-phone’ll restart….”
Then it asks for security code enter factory default => 12345
FOR HARD-RESET:
- at Standby Screen type-in => *#7370#
It will ask for “Restore all phone settings-phone’ll restart….”

FOR FLASHING- TOTAL RESTORE: (Do this if your phone does not boot up)
1) Remove the battery, and then wait for about 20 min or so before putting it back
2) Press and hold these three keys together -Green dial key, Star key[*], Three key [3]
3) switch ON the phone.
4) Do not let go the three keys until you see the WELCOME screen displayed and just let it complete the boot process

Im trying to break up some fla files to use reusable .as
files. I have created a UTIL file with static methods. One example
is a method used to load in external files and open a Progress bar.
The issue is how do I get the Progress bar into this .as
file?
I do not want to pass a MC into the method that already
contains the Progress bar. I'd rather on the fly create a new
instance (or maybe global instance) of the Progress bar from within
the .as file.
How can this be done?

Best type of FCP export file for a composer

Hi, I want to export my film project for a composer to work with.
He suggested a quick time file burnt onto a dvd...
I'm sorry but I'm vague about what type of quick time file that might be that he can import into his computer.
Would it be the quick time movie which of a project of 70 minutes seems to be about 14 gigs of size?
Is there a really effecient way of doing this or shall I just burn about 4 dvds of the film project cut into four portions?

well... you can cut the size in half or more, you can lower the video quality. The one thing you CAN'T change is the frame rate, if your composer is working to picture.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Try changing the security on the router. Start with no securty as a test.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Application store requires that you answer 3 questions for future verification. The questions are stupid and not easy to remember. Why can I not just proceed with my download without this?

What was the first film you saw? and the like. You can say Not now, but then nothong happens and you are back to where you started. Is there a way to proceed with downloading apps without answering these stupid questions?
I refuse to believe that Apple as an organisation designed these questions - must have been somebody else.

This is Apple's security feature, you answer the questions or you stop using the account and buy Mac apps elsewhere. Do a search on Secure Notes in the keychain and answer the questions with nonsense answers and store them in a Secure Note for future reference.

ITunes multiple library syncing for music composed on 2nd Mac

Syncing with two iTunes libraries in two different Macs
*But this is my case*
I have a MBP at home with a LaCie 6TB eSATA HDD RAID box with all I need when at home. I am using around 1.7TB of space currently. The box weighs 23 lbs (11kg) so not portable.
I am happy syncing my music on the MBP when I am at home. So far so good.
I travel a lot though, every week a different country (marketing work) and happen to be a prolific composer. I have a second mac, a PowerBook G4 with Logic Pro 8 for my composing. When I am at home use a vintage Fender valve amp and a Gibson guitar too... bliss. But let's not get carried away.
The issue is I do most of my music creation (1 or 2 full songs, lyrics and all) every week so have a few albums in my PowerBook G4 when I am in, say, China.
*Issue to resolve*
I need to be able to sync MY OWN CREATIONS into my iPhone when I am away, but the message is always the same "...this will erase all your music and replace it with...".
I need this to, while I spend 9 hours flying over Siberia, be able to listen to my partially completed musical work on the iPhone and make notes, to improve it etc. next time I get the time in the next hotel with the second Mac plugged to the wall.
How do mobile music composers working on a mobile music station (my PowerBook G4) who also have at home a normal music collection keep it all in sync?
_I need an expert to explain to me if there is anything Apple sells as part of Logic or whatever that will let me sync my creations on this second mac without losing my usual music when I am in (let's change country) Russia._

I am actually looking for something that Apple may offer for (many many many) customers who are music creative people using Apple's software and hardware exclusively (so the real good customers, right?) and work on the move on a G4 or MacBook Air and at home with a bigger box/laptop but cannot use their iPhone for both.

As such there is no path for directly opening Visual Composer from the Netweaver system (I suppose this is what you mean by the acronym nws). Visual Composer can only be opened by the URL as given by Rahul:
