Question for Kensington Orbit Trackball Owners

Just bought the Kensington Orbit Trackball and would like to know if it is necessary to Install software for it. I had assumed that it was plug and play. (as far as regards the MacMini)
Thanks.

It will work as a basic mouse by just plugging it in. You need to install the Kensington sw to enable special functionality.

  • Questions for ipod nano 5g owners

+Please can anybody convince me to get a 5g 16 gigs nano? I'm a bit scared to go for this new buy and sell my old 3g nano.+
Would really appreciate if u guys can give me a feedback on these few questions. I don't intend to use the camera much at all and I don't want to play videos on it...still im a bit concerned about the battery.
    1) How is the battery quality? Experiencing any troubles?
I do own a 3g ipod nano and the battery rocks, I can listen to some music for about 2 hours per day and go like that for a week or so. 4g ipod nano was a real lemon if compared to the 3g...wondering if the 5g is as good as the 3g or not.
    2) What about the flashy colours that have been used? Are they looking good? I honeslty really liked the satinated aluminium and the soft colouring of the 4g better.
    3) The clicking wheel is that rather thick? I do remember that the 4g nano had an incredible light clicking wheel when i was touching it it felt like it could broke if really pressed hard. 3g has not that issue, it feels very sturdy and compact.
    4) I also noticed that in many pic sonline there is a sort of a gap between the clicking wheel of the 5g and the cover of the ipod itself. Is that something that all the owners of the 5g have or there are only some bad manifactured ones out there?

    1. I haven't been able to test the battery power extensively due to the fact that I've been playing around with transferring videos from my iPod to my PC, and I just installed a hookup in my car so I could listen to it in there, and this hookup also charges the battery... BUT I did play Sudoku on it the other day while I was waiting for a pizza to cook. The timer had me clocked at 14 minutes after it was all said and done (I thought I was pausing it but it kept counting the time, and the screen never went idle). After I finished, I looked at the battery power and it had barely gone down at all, maybe a slight smidgen at most. With my 4th Gen, I could play a game of Sudoku for about 8-9 minutes and that could drain a full battery anywhere from a quarter to halfway down, so in comparison, 5th gen battery life is MUCH better then 4th gen, though I suspect I may have had a faulty battery in the old one...
    2. Personally, I love the new colors and casing on the new nano's. Very shiny.
    3. I played around with my 3rd, 4th and 5th gen to see what you ment about the click wheel. The 3rd gen is thicker, but with the 4th and 5th gen, you are dealing with a slimmer nano, so Apple most likely slimmed down the click wheel to compensate for room. My 4th gen held up well, I don't see why the 5th gen would be much different.
    4. I think any gaps you may have seen from pics might have been a trick of light and shadow. All Nanos have extremely tiny spaces between the click wheel and the casing if you look close enough. For the 5th gen, I think it might be the aluminum finish, and that the click wheel is raised ever so slightly on each side, that makes the gap on that nano seem larger then it really is.
I hope this helps, but of course, this is only my version, I'm sure others will put there two cents in too.

  • Question for *SIM FREE* N95 owners.

    Hi.
If you have bought a generic SIM free version of the N95 with no network branding please post the colour of your handset and your product code (underneath IMEI on label underneath battery, also listed on the label on your nokia box)
I am trying to compile a list of the different product codes.
    cheers

Sent the Orange back as it did not do VOIP which they assured me it would DOH
Now got a Sim Free unbranded not locked Light Graphite N95
(silver to me and you) Still on Orange with same contract just sim free so it can do VOIP
What is the product Code 0548364 its not the generic Euro 1 and the software update was very late compared to some sim frees
The box was unbranded as is the phone with no branded software i can see just one small code on the box starting cpw I guess is Carphone warehouse UK SO I would guess it could be the UK sim free rather than the European sim free?
What is the O2 software so if I can see if its part of that
But after the update to 6.11 there is still no branding
I chose it for the colour dont like the plum or sand
any ideas product Code 0548364 and why the update is so far behind the others?
Nokia user / modder since Nokia Orange and Mobira user too before that

  • Question for C6-01 owners

Hello.  I just received shipment of a C6-01 from Nokia.  I like it... build feels good, it seems as good as all the Nokia phones I've had before.  But I have a question for those who have the C6-01.  When you look at the camera on the back of the phone, is the LED flash mounted at a slightly different angle than the camera lens?  On this new phone it looks like the flash is on slightly different plane.  If you would look at your phone and tell me if this is consistent I would appreciate it... I want to make sure this one's not damaged.

Hard to show in pic... hopefully you'll get the idea.

  • Question for S10-3t owners

    Hi Folks,
I'm seriously considering purchasing an S10-3t, but I have a question for you.
Is there a reason everyone is choosing the low-end model?
I'm looking at the one with 2 GB, faster processor, larger hard drive, Windows 7HP, Bluetooth.
I've priced it out and it is about $110 more than the best price I've seen for the low end model ($399). It seems like the price difference is probably worth it.
Note: I am pricing it out with and additional 8 cell battery to go with the 4 cell it comes with, and there is currently a 15% off promotion until June 3
    Faster processor:  $10?
    Extra memory:  $30
Windows 7 HP upgrade:  $80 (according to Microsoft)
Bluetooth:  $15-30+ (Seems really handy for 3G tethering and/or external peripherals)
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
    Thanks!

The following is from a post I put on the forum on March 17.   The prices shown is what the models cost at that time.
I originally bouth the S10-3T with the N450 chip and 8 cell battery from a retail store in US. I returned the unit to the store and opted for the S10-3T with N470 chip and 4 cell battery. Lenovo includes Windows Home Premium and Bluetooth.
I bought the 8 cell battery as I was not sure which I would prefer. The 4 cell battery is nice because its flush with unit. Its good for me during my daily commute. The 8 cell battery is definitely needed for long trips. The 8 cell sticks out and is personal choice if you like the added bulkiness.
Prior to returning the N450 model, I recorded the Windows Indexing results and ran Geekbench. For those deciding which model to purchase below is a benchmark and average price comparison of both machines.

  • Question for T20 owners regarding aux input

I'm hoping someone with T20s can answer a simple question for me. When you have two different sources plugged into the main input and the aux input, do you hear both mixed together? Or, does plugging in the aux "cut off" the main input? I've got two computers and I'd like to pipe both into just one set of speakers, and I've heard using reverse splitter adapters is a bad idea. All help is appreciated. Thanks! :-)

I'm not an audio expert but here goes. The aux does not cut off the primary input for the speaker, and you can hear both sources at once. (I have my laptop plugged into the rear and an MP3 player feeding the aux input)? I don't know that it's really a great idea since you could probably overload the speakers quickly if both sources are playing, even with transient spikes, but if you keep the volume reasonable, it probably may work fine. Best of luck.

  • I am having trouble answering my old security questions for my itunes account and it is creating a problem because I am not able to purchase apps/songs on my new IPAD. What phone number/email adress should I call to get a quick response to my issue?

I have recently bought an IPAD 2 for my girlfriend and have encountered a problem with purchasing apps through my itunes account. It is requesting that I not only enter my pasword (which I know) but answer my old account questions, which I have forgotten the answers to. It had since locked me out of changing my questions for eight hours. Is there any number I can call to prove that I am the real owner of my itunes account so my girlfriend will be able to use her ipad to purchase new apps without having to go through the trouble of using one of my other apple devices? Random information: I believe my questions were set back in 2007 when I purchased my first ipod nano, since then I have used this same itunes account for my own ipod touch and ipad 2 and my girlfriends iphone 1st generation. I have never run into a problem regarding my questions before on any of these devices

  • Questions for Opinions and Ideas.

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions for a few of you to respond.
    1) What is the best site for keeping up to date on Java?
    2) What is the best site for keeping up to date on technology?
    3) What is the best site for news and events in general?
    Search questions
    1) I have been noticing that when I search on google I seem to get hits that are 3 or more years old? Has the internet become lack luster?
    2) Is open source just another way for corporate to give away technology to another country and then outsource to them on pretense that they cannot find anything in the US?
    3) Should all open source licenses be for American companies only?
Your answers and comment would be welcomed.

Rooting for them? I guess you didn't have stock in
enron or mci or delphi or maybe the 100's of other
companies that were backdating options or reporting
wrong results. You must also be one who is for
illegal immigrants? I can get more benefits being an
illegal immigrant than I can being an unemployed
white male (never been unemployed until now). I was
one of 3000 that got laid off due to outsourcing.
(company will remain anonymous) Their explanation
was, "They could not get enough technical resources
here in the US, so they were contracting to an
outsourcing company for the services". And so they likely lied. The predominate reason for outsourcing is that the company thinks that they can save money.
Very large companies often can "save" money because...
    1. They have absolutely no process control and fail to deliver anything useful with the existing staff anyways. So they save money because it costs less to deliver nothing. (One large company I was aware of one time had a software development department which hadn't delivered anything in 18 months.)
    2. They do have stringent process control and thus can deliver actual requirements that means something to the outsourced firm. Given their careful process control they are likely to have found an outsource company that can actually deliver what they promised. This sort of company is very rare.
Smaller companies will never succeed at this unless they have stringent process control as well. And failure here means that the company will be unlikely to survive.
Most companies that think they have process control do not in fact have it. Even with written requirements and written designs the actual product is often built via word of mouth requirements and products don't resemble the designs at all.
Presumably you can judge where your company fits into the above.
    Before you
dismiss someone else make sure you think about the
question and why someone would ask. I wish I could
laugh with you.I worked at a company where they laid off 5% of the work force a week before they announced record profits. It had nothing to do with outsourcing.
I have been laid off from several places simply because they weren't making money. In several cases they never made any money. Nothing to do with outsourcing.
One company even had one of those money making ventures in place that involved phony offshore corporations doing phony sales. One of the owners of the company set that up. That had nothing to do with outsourcing either.
In all cases being a competent professional it took me very little time to find another job.

  • Beginner question for OMBDEPLOY

    Hi all,
I am trying to depoly one mapping using OMBDEPLOY. Please point me to the right direction.
    1. OMBCONNECT 'my_design_repository'
    2. OMBCC 'my_project'
    3. OMBCREATE 'my_deployment_action_plan'
    4. OMBCAC 'my_configuration'
    5. OMBCONNECT CONTROL_CENTER 'my_runtime_control_center'
Everything works fine so far, and then I do the OMBDEPLOY
    6. OMBDEPLOY DEPLOYMENT_ACTION_PLAN 'my_deployment_action_plan'
But I get the following error message:
    ora-01017: invalid username/password:logon denied
    Deployment completed.
I give user/password in my step 5, and it says 'Control Center connected'. My question is which user/password is wrong here?
Can anybody help. Thanks so much.

Here is my OMB+ script to deploy all mappings in a project:
Your connection error, by the way, probably relates to the fact that if the location passowrd name is not retained in the repository, then it must be set at runtime. We don't save our passwords, so you will notice the OMBALTER LOCATION '$DATA_LOCATION_NAME' SET PROPERTIES (PASSWORD) VALUES ('$DATA_LOCATION_PASS') to set it at runtime below

  • Kensington SlimBlade Trackball

Just received this as a gift from my wife.. (it's quite a cool device if you are into these sort of things.. )
I'd like to get it to work so I can work again, as it has crippled my day to day life..
Anyway I can't seem to get the 'chord/paste' thing to happen as well as the 'left mouse drag and highlight to clipboard' and I'm totally at a loss as to where to begin or what else to look at.
    Here is Xorg.0.log

Using urxvtc I can highlight with the left, but nothing is captured; right clicking obviously brings up no menu..
I've been 'Shift + Insert' to get things from 'Chrome' and things I can 'right click and choose copy' ..
Using something like lxterminal I can copy and paste with the 'right menu button' or 'Shift + Ctrl + C'
How can I get this device to work?
Using xev I find it makes tons of output; but I have no idea how to to use this in a useful way to help myself.
    Thanks in advance.

Your trackball is working fine, you just have to auto synchronize between primary and secondary X clipboards.
You may use autocutsel like this :
autocutsel -selection CLIPBOARD -fork && autocutsel -selection PRIMARY -fork
    ~> yaourt -Ss autocutsel
    community/autocutsel 0.9.0-7
synchronizes the two copy/paste buffers mainly used by X applications
Or xclip this way : xclip -s PRIMARY -o | xclip -s CLIPBOARD
    ~> yaourt -Ss xclip
    extra/xclip 0.12-3 [installed]
Command line interface to the X11 clipboard

  • How can you change your security question for I tunes?

How can you change your security question for I tunes?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • I have a new email address and my old email keeps coming up on icloud when trying to update apps and i don't know the password or security questions for the old email. I can sign in with my apple id which is tied to another email but not itunes how to fix

I have an apple id and it has my current email attached to it. however when i go to update apps it's asking for the password for an old email. I no longer have the old email and can't use it. when I go to icloud on my ipad it asks for the password for old email. it doesn't allow me to change the old email to current. when i go to reset it i can't remember the password or security questions for the old email so it doesn't let me go any further. How do I fix this? Do i need to call apple support?

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
