Question for sending a PDF Form with desktop mail
Dear all,
I try to create a PDF form and use it for a Workflow.
Therefore I created some "Send" Buttons and put into the Properties/Actions/Submit a Form the comand "mailto: [email protected]".
The second "Send" Button contains another mail adress which is also shown while putting the mouse over the button.
But after clicking this one the PDF is still send to the Mail-Adress from the first button!
Any idea, what went wrong or where the issue is?
Thanks for a quick feedback
Thomas
Hi try67,
thanks for the tipp.
I already renamed all send-buttons -> but it still does not work!
This morning I deleted them all and created new one - now it seems to work.
BUT: it only works as long as there is no digital signature on the document.
As soon as the first signature is placed - all send buttons change to the same email adress.
???? Looks quite strange....

Trouble submitting PDF form with Web Mail
Hello,
I have a fillable PDF form that I'm trying to submit. When I submit the form through an email client (Outlook, Mail, etc.) it works perfectly. When I try to submit using the Webmail option, I get this message: "An unknown error has occurred while uploading the attachment. If you are not sure how to proceed further, you can save your form and return it manually using your Internet mail service."
I've checked the file thoroughly and everything looks correct. I'm perplexed as to why it submits just fine through an email client, but won't submit via Webmail. I've tried on a Mac and a PC and I've tried using a Yahoo account and a Gmail account with the same results. Any ideas?
Thanks!
KateI'm using Acrobat XI Pro. I don't have Reader installed on my laptop. The form is for a client who sends it out to patients to fill out, so I need it work with both mail clients and web mail. Is there a way to do that? I don't think changing that preference in my Acrobat will solve the problem, as that will just effect my Acrobat. Is there a setting I can apply to the actual document? Thank you for your response!

Is there a way to send a form to a field force that allows a picture to be added. The field person could add the picture from the tablet's photo gallery or take a photo with the camera?

Error while saving a .PDF File to a mapped drive
"It has to do with Protected Mode being turned on. I don't know if it was off by default & now it is on with the update but turning it off changes Adobe Reader's behavior back to what the users expect - a prompt warning you if you want to overwrite the existing file & then selecting Yes to overwrite.
To disable Protected Mode:
Start Adobe Reader
Edit - Preferences - Security (Enhanced)
Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
Close Preferences & Close Reader"
We unchecked the "Enable Protected Mode at startup" box --> Yes --> OK. Our users are happy now. ^_^ -
Filling out a pdf form with C#
We have some pdf forms that I have put textboxes, checkboxes, etc on with LiveCycle. I want to write a C# program that will ask the user some questions and send the pdf form the data to fill it out. On my development machine I have VS 2005, .Net platform 2.0, and Adobe Professional 8. The program runs fine on that machine. I downloaded the SDK and modified the FillFormCS code to build the test project.
Is it possible to do the same kind of thing with just having Adobe Reader 8 installed? Is there an SDK example that shows how?
Thanks,

May be that the text fields are read-only.

Looking to create editable PDF forms with drop downs and text boxes for use on a Mac computer and iPad. Which product do I need to purchase? Do not need anything fancy
Basically you would need Acrobat. However, it is now also possible to create basic form fields using just the free Reader. In fact, I've been working on a tool that allows you to do it, so if you're interested in it please contact me privately.

Can I edit the email created to send a PDF form back to me when a user clicks on Submit?
I created several PDF fillable forms for our users to request services and send back data needed to deliver those services. They are simple forms, and users will click on Submit to return to a mailto: address.
My question is about the email message that is auto-created when the user clicks on Submit. I can't find any config window to be able to edit the message in the body of the email. The message reads:
Form Returned: 2014PrintingRequestForm.pdf
The attached file is the filled-out form. Please open it to review the data.
Is there any way to edit this message?majende,
Adobe Reader for iOS does support a Submit button.
(a) Button action to submit an entire PDF document via email
(b) JavaScript submitForm to Adobe FormsCentral
Do you use the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF form?
For option (a)
Add the "Submit a form" action to your Submit button.
Enter "mailto:" (including a colon) followed by email recipient(s). Please add a comma between two email addresses.
Example: [email protected], [email protected]
Select "PDF The complete document".
This particular type of PDF form will work with Adobe Reader desktop and mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS and Android).
In Adobe Reader for iOS, a user can do the following steps to submit the particular type of PDF form.
Fill out the PDF form.
Tap the Submit button in the PDF form.
Select "Share Original Document" or "Share Flattened Copy" from the Share File dialog.
Adobe Reader for iOS will automatically fill in the email address(es) that you specified when you created the PDF form.
Tap the Send button in the upper right corner.
Adobe Reader for iOS will send the PDF form as an email attachment via Apple Mail (the default mail app for iOS).

PDF form with XML data connection comes up blank at run time
Hello All,
I am a newbie to ADOBE Livecycle 9, but am very proficient in C#. I would like to request for your guidance on the following issue.
We have a desktop application in C#, WPF, Sqlserver. The requirement is to launch a Livecycle form from the application for the user to read/edit/save data
I have done this much so far -
Downloaded trial version of Livecycle 9
Developed a interactive PDf form
Created an XML based data connection. Generated fields on the form using the fields from this connection.
Set the .XML file as preview source for the form
the controls on the form are boumd to the xml data source
In design mode, the form works fine, it displays my data correctly
I have created a WPF form with a button. On click of this button, I call the Process.Start(pdf-file-path). My pdf is launched properly
I have added a combo box to my WPF form. I select a parameter from this, then call a stored procedure which returns me a datatable depending on parameter passed
Using the returned datatable, I have used the datatable.writexml and datatable.writexmlschema to create my XML and XSD files. as mentioned above, this xsd is used to create the data connection for the PDF and the XML for the preview source
This is what I want to do -
Launch the PDF from my WPF form, pre-populated with the newly created XML data from my WPF form.
So basically, as the user changes the selection criteria from the combo box, the XML file data will change and the PDF file will be launched each time with new data.
The XSD format will always be constant
Problem -
My XML and XSD get created properly, my PDF launches, but it is empty
If I change my selection criteria and run the WPF application, and then open the PDF in design mode, it asks me whether it should refresh the XML source. This means that the PDF form is connecting correctly to the XML source
So why then, does the form come up empty at run time?
What link am I missing?
I have found some sites that help using Web applications, but nothing for desktop applications. It would be fantastic if you could point me to some help for developing Livecycle forms with C# / SQLServer
Your help in this case will be highly appreciated.
Thanks and RegardsOops, something happended with the above post. I will try again... I have tried your suggestion but I still get the same garbled XML (with data repeated and some values "cut in half".<br /><br />Here is what I get after decode-service and extract-to-XML-service. This is just the first barcode, the others are similar, sorry for the poor formatting, but I get a CDATA tage infront of the "istensen" value.<br /> <br />CDATA:istensen</fld_ForMellemEfterNavn<br />><fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />>Superroad 99, 1330 Supertown</fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />><fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />>20724283</fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />></sub_Person<br />></sub_PktA<br />><fld_BlanketNr<br />>kb0371ff</fld_BlanketNr<br />><fld_BarcodeCount<br />/></form1<br />>/sub_Adresse<br />><sub_Person<br />><fld_ForMellemEfterNavn>Kim Christensen</fld_ForMellemEfterNavn<br />><fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />> Superroad 99, 1330 Supertown </fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />><fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />>20724283</fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />></sub_Person<br />></sub_PktA<br />><fld_BlanketNr<br />>kb0371ff</fld_BlanketNr<br />><fld_BarcodeCount<br />/></form1<br /><br />Obviously this is not a legal xml-string, so I can do nothing about it.<br /><br />I have tried using a custom .NET component (ClearImage) for reading the same form (with the barcode) I get the correct data out from the barcodes. So I guess something is wrong with the decode-service in Barcoded Forms ES when I use compressed XML. But I can conclude since the ClearImage component can read the barcodes that they are compressed correctly.<br /><br />Can you help me with getting further with this problem?<br /><br />Sincerely<br />Kim

Populating a PDF form with database data
I would love to know how (if possible) to populate an Adobe PDF form with data pulled from an Access database.
Background
I have a registration form already created using Adobe LiveCycle which is used by people to fill in their details. With a built-in xml schema, the user saves the form and sends them to me. I extract the data into an xml document which I can then import in an Access database using VBA code.
The Need
When it comes time to re-register, much of the original data provided by the user has not changed. Rather than ask them to fill out the form all over again, I would like to send them their original data and they can update whichever fields they need to. With the xml schema built into the form, I would love to turn this form into a two-way avenue for both importing and exporting data. Is this possible?
Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I have not provided enough information.
BrettYou can connect the form to the DB using anODBC connection. This functionality comes as part of Acrobat but the form must be Reader Extended by the full LiveCycle Server version of Reader Extension to allow this in Reader. In your case, if your system is the only on ethat will interact with the DB then this might be a viable solution (but you woudl have to use Acrobat). This solution woudl involve create an ODBC connection in your system then configuring the form to make use of that connection.
Does that make sense?

Can someone help me in building an interactive PDF form with dynamic bounding box?
Hi Guys,
I need to create an interactive PDF form which will contain images, text and fields.
This is how it would be laid out:
Header Image at the top.
Below that a Text Box with a question "Choose the number of licenses" and a drop down option from 1 to 10.
Depending on what they select, I need the following to be displayed.
The following should be encapsuled by a bounding box.
If "1" is selected. "Username: <blank field> Password: <blank field>
Then a button which says "Click Here To Login To Your New Account".
The bounding box should end here.. and I have more text and images below.
This I could achieve! But now if I select "2" I would need the bounding box to automatically become taller to accommodate two rows with "Username <blank> Password <blank>
The bounding box needs to expand or contract based on the number selected in the drop down.
Would love to here your thoughts on this!
Cheers,
RajivIf you were to look at the spec for PDF, you'd see that that is probably not possible with a PDF file.
But, I encourage you to ask this question in the Acrobat PDF Forms forum where the forms experts reside, and perhaps they could suggest an answer. JavaScript can be used, and perhaps that's the answer:

Saving pdf form with extended Reader rights
Hello,
I want to save form changes without further confirmations in Reader version X ("Save" and not "Save as...").
- If you use a pdf form with enabled Reader rights, you should be able to save any changes made in form field by using the Reader.
- To save changes use "File / Safe" or press CRTL+S
Result:
- Save-as window will appear
- After choosing save button you will be asked to overwrite existing file.
Expected results:
File should be saved without further confirmations! In Reader version 9 there was no problem with that.
Does anybody had the same problem and found a solution?
Regards,
ChristianOK, it seems to be a typical "it's-not-a-bug-it's-a-feature"-problem. But I found no way to avoid the overwrite question during saving. I noticed that the question appears only the first time when you click on the save button. If you do further changes in form fiels and click a second time on the save button the document will be overwritten without additional warnings. Maybe it's a feature to prevent users from overwriting empty forms by asking for a new filename and so on..
However, we are using the reader in conjunction with a document management software and the overwrite warning disturbs our enterprise workflow. So the only insufficient solution for my problem is to downgrade all users to version 9 again.
Hope next version of reader will be better in disabling unwanted features ;-)

FrameMaker/TCS training & consulting * FM-to-Acrobat TimeSavers/AssistantsBecause I know enough to be dangerous... I was trying to extend the two outside columns down.... Instead of just using faux columns which I have fixed since I posted the question.
The other link problem is the left sidebar links. When you go to the event photos page I have a repeat of the sidebar links that are on the newsletter page. I used named anchors on the newsletter page to link to the particular article. From the Event Photos page the links look like this:
<a href="1112Visions_Iss1.html/#puzzle" target="_self">[Puzzle]</a>
The problem I am having is that some of these go to the newsletter page and the anchor and some do not (I get an error message saying it can't find the page). To add to the problem is that when we choose say the President's Message, when it goes to the newsletter page and the correct anchor, the newsletter page is missing all the links to the graphics... the photos are missing the graphic for the faux columns is missing. It makes no sense. When I preview the newsletter page from Dreamweaver everything shows up fine.
I do not know if all of this is being caused because I haven't posted this stuff to the site or what. I've tried re-booting both the browser and Dreamweaver, dumping the cache and still the same nonsense.
Got any ideas? -
Saving and sending a pdf form in a non-editable format (i.e. as an image)
I have created a pdf form with editable fields (text fields, drop-down menus etc). After the form has been filled and graphically signed, I would like create a button to the form, which would save the form in a format that can not anymore be edited and then send this "image" form via e-mail. How could I do this ??
You can flatten the form to make form fields un-editable.
Go to Tools pane > Print Production > Preflight > PDF Fixups > Flatten Annotations and Form Fields
You can also create a custom Action to achieve this at a click of a button.
