Question, how to reactivate Premiere Pro 2.0

I had to replace my hard drive and cannot reactivate Premiere Pro 2.0. How do I reactivate?

CS2 Activation Server http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l
From that link...
Adobe has disabled the activation server for CS2 products, including Acrobat 7, because of a technical issue. These products were released more than seven years ago, do not run on many modern operating systems, and are no longer supported. Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software. The serial numbers provided as a part of the download may only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products

  • How much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on?

This may be a really dumb question, but how much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on if all your video files, assets, disk cache, etc are on different drives than the one the program itself is installed on?
The reason I am asking is that I currently have a "relatively" slow Sata II SSD for my C drive that has just my OS (windows 7 64bit) and programs (adobe editing programs, no games) installed on it and nothing else. All of the files used in my projects are saved on either a very fast Sata III SSD or a slower HDD depending on what the files are. For example, disk cache on the Sata III, stills on the HDD.
Being cyber monday I have the opportunity to buy another very fast Sata III SSD to replace my current Sata II SSD C Drive (just OS and programs). Both synthetic and real world benchmarks show a near double in performance. I just want to know if anyone thinks the upgrade is even worth it because for all I know there won't be any increase in performance since no videos, still, cach, etc will be stored on the C Drive.
The alternative is to get a second monitor because I currently only use one 21" monitor.
I suppose another alternative would be to not buy anything on the cyber monday deals and just save money for something else.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Alex! I think you are right about not being able to notice the difference between the SSDs. I ended up finding a deal to get about $80 off a great monitor that I've been looking at for a while and decided to pull the trigger on it. I thought about it and realized that there have already been a bunch of times where I want to watch a tutorial on youtube and follow allong in AE or PrePro, but have to keep switching windows. I also frequently want to have my video preview on a separate monitor so I can have a taller timeline window. This monitor will help a lot with that. Thanks again for your help!

  • Newbie question re: upgrading to Premiere Pro CC 2014.1

Apologies in advance for having to ask such a basic question... I have recently upgraded my edit suites to PP CC 7.2.1 (4) from Apple FCP. The suite is connected to the Internet, yet when I open the Adobe Application Manager, and open the Premiere Pro drop down it doesn't mention 2014.1 ?, How/where do I upgrade?
    Thanks in advance

  • How to use Premiere Pro for live shoots (newbie needing some answers)

My school is about to delve into the world of live streaming.  We have a homemade Tricaster setup of sorts which allows for us to use three camcorders through as switcher which allows for some nice streaming capabilities.
My question is, how do I use Premiere Pro, or something else, to run live titles/graphics, etc. into the production?  You know, things like lower thirds, etc.?
Is this as simple as running another computer into a source on the switcher?  If so, how do I get the graphics etc. to appear as simple key pages?
Sorry, I've never used Adobe during a live shoot before.
I'd love for someone in the know to explain the workflow here.  Thank you so much!
I'd also be interested in knowing best practices for running b-roll into the switcher.  PP again?  Same computer as the graphics or a seperate one?

I dont't 'know anything from Adobe that could do this.

  • Question about benchmarking with Premiere Pro

    Hi all:
I am a writer for a website that focuses a lot on benchmarking PC hardware and am in the process of refreshing our CPU test suite. I'd like to implement Premiere Pro into our testing, but as a new architecture launch is due in a couple of weeks, I am working on this with some haste. I'm a novice with this tool, so it's my hope that I can get the "a-OK" from experienced users who know whether we're testing with the tool in a reasonable way. This is important because we implement real-world benchmarks for the sake of showing users of such tools how one CPU can compare to another in terms of raw performance. Other tools we benchmark with include 3ds Max, Maya, Handbrake and Lightroom (which I desperately wish supported more than a couple of threads).
That all said, the project I've created is not conventional, as it's more of a worst-case scenario. I recorded about 18 minutes from a new PC game using Fraps, resulting in 35GB worth of source files. These are not "lossless", but are close to it (300~370Mbit/s). I take these files, crop most of them, add in cross dissolves and then encode it to MPEG 2 Blu-ray using almost default settings. In order to stress the CPU better, I enable the "Use Maximum Render Quality" (is that often used in production encodes?) option, and also change to a VBR 2-pass.
Here are some quick results from the benchmarking I did this afternoon:
    Intel Core i7-975 (4 core, 8 thread, 3.33GHz) - 46m 40s
    Intel Core i7-975 (4 core, 8 thread, 4.00GHz) - 38m 45s
    Intel Core i7-980 (6 core, 12 thread, 3.33GHz) - 30m 36s
As seen there, in an equal-clock 4 core vs 6 core battle, we saw the latter encode finish about 50% faster (the scaling is rather amazing). But the question remains - can I feel confident in benchmarking this as a project? Would it ultimately prove useful to you guys?
    Thanks much for any help!
PS: As an added question, does Premiere Pro take advantage of SSE4 (or beyond) instructions, and will it support AVX in the future?

    Hi Jim:
    Thanks for the response!
I don't own a video camera (boy, do I ever feel like a reject, now). Would it be an inaccurate way of doing things if I took the same project I have as mentioned above, export it to AVCHD 1080p/24 and then use that as the source file to encode to MPEG-DVD? It'd still be game footage, but essentially the codec is what really matters (I could be wrong; perhaps the codec would work better with real images).
Sorry if that comes off as a ridiculous question. If that's not a good solution I will see about getting such a source from somewhere.
    Thanks a ton!
Edit: Would it be sufficient to use a Blu-ray .m2ts file specced at 1080p/24 AVC MPEG-4 as a source? I assume it's AVCHD given it's 1080p.

  • Questions re: Switching to Premiere Pro

I have always been so happy to say to anyone:  "I am a Final Cut Pro Editor".
I have been, professionally, since verion 1. Since then, I have used every version up until now. I LOVE THE FCP SUITE!
However - I recently installed FCP X, and have spent the last week doing every single tutorial I can get my hands on.
Needless to say...I am beyond frustrated...this is like a nightmare.
I honestly hadnt paid to much attention to the hype....I wanted to see for myself.
And its unny - in all my years I have never used Premiere Pro....(I have used AVID, Media 100, etc) until this morning. I downloaded a demo, because I am hearing of the great sale Adobe is having for people that want (need)  to switch. I cannot tell you how unbelievably relieved I am. It isnt FCP7, but it will do! Actually in many ways its better. Thae way it handles H264...wow! I am really excited about working with it, and having such a fluid relationship with the rest of the Adobe suite. After Effects rocks...it KILLS Motion, but I never wanted to learn it because Motion worked so well with FCP. Now I can!
I have maybe 250 or more FCP projects that I work on, and update, all of the time for my clients. FCP X just cant open those projects. I mean, wha??
    But wow - Premiere can!
The timeline in FCPX is what bugs me most - I edit a lot of musc videos, etc and the magenetic timeline is horrific. Its TERRIBLE! Its truly terrible.
I could go on and on...and many have.
I have about 25 different hard drives of stuff, that I change oyt all of the time....I cant relink in FCPX without some very weird, time consuming, ghetto  workarounds.
At the end of the day, I really, really, really wanted FCPX to work. I identify myself with FCP - I use it, am very, very fast on it, and have defended it for the last 10 years.
But I cant anymore. This is a sad time for professional FCP editors. I am also a bit furious about the thousands of dollars of plugins I have JUST bought for FCP7 this year. Down the drain, it is. Thanks Apple.
Anyway - just curious how others are getting along who have switched to Premiere Pro. Any concerns, any tips, tricks, etc that makes this switch easiest?

Since you're looking for replies from Premiere users, maybe you should be posting in the Premiere forums. People here are FCPX users.

  • Reactivate premiere pro 2.0

I have Premiere Pro 2.0. I know its old but I need to run on XP to unload tapes. Due to hardware that only seems to work on XP. had this activated once on this machine. now it no longer connects to the website and the phone line is no longer in use. How do I activate this?

Here are some discussions on activating old software.

  • How to get Premiere Pro to access all of the professional codecs?

    Hello,
Premiere Pro CC does not open projects that use any of the professional codecs, such as R3D or ProRes. It also has no presets available to create projects based on R3D, DSLR, etc. just presets for DV and a minimum number of older presets.
I have read that the problem could be due to an activation issue. Since the software was installed from a package created by CCP, there are no options to deactivate and then activate again.
I have two lab images. The first is just the Adobe video bundle. The second is the web/design bundle AND the video bundle. Premiere Pro is fine with the computers with just the video bundle. The one lab with both bundles is giving us the problem. I created the two installer packages based on the two serial numbers I have (one for each bundle).
I tried creating one installer for that lab using the serial number for the web/design bundle, but included all applications available to us. I uninstalled both bundles from a computer, restarted, ran the Adobe cleaner, and then installed all of the apps again. The Premiere Pro issue remains.
I assume the two bundles are still in conflict, but I don't know how to resolve it. OR, is there something else out there that can make Premiere use all of its codecs and settings?
All machines are running MacOS 10.8.4
    Thanks!

    Update
I installed the design/web bundle on a computer where Premiere was working properly and after installing, Premiere continued to work properly. I am sure that is how I made the master for that lab (video bundle first > image for film program computers > add web/design for shared lab image), but it seems to work.
For now I will make a new master and re-image the lab, which sucks because we are in our third week of classes, but our film students can't do their work in our best lab with Premiere broken.

  • A Very Green Question: Which Desktop for Premiere Pro

    Hi guys,
First, please go easy; I'm as green as they come. I am looking into purchasing a new desktop for several functions, one of which will be video editing. I've been reading alot of everyone's suggestions on builds and systems ( 8gigs ram, say no to RAID 0, different graphics cards) - and most things are going over my head, so I thought I would come out and just ask the experts on a brand desktop.
My Current Platform: I've been using Adobe Premier Pro CS4 and Photoshop on (wait for it) an old Dell Latitude D830. I am actually very happy with what this laptop has done, but I'm looking for something that will take less than 20-30 minutes to render 2 minutes of video (although It has never had any issues running Photoshop).
My Intended Use: I will primarly be using the desktop for Photoshop (print advertisement/label mock ups) and Premiere Pro (5~10 minute Youtube Videos and the occassional 45 minute DVD) as well as word processing and other office related stuff.
I'm trying to keep the cost down - preferable around (or below) the $1000 mark, and I don't necessarily need to be on the cutting edge as long as I can get the functionality out of Premiere Pro and make a video in less than a decade.
I've been looking at the desktops from Dell (since mine has served me well over the years). I was recommended by one of their reps  to look into XPS 8300. I also looked at the 7100. I have also read recommendations on different sites for the HP options.
My Question: Based on my intended use, is the XPS 7100 a viable option, or do I need to step up to the 8300 (or even a full blown workstation like the T1100)? And if either of these works, am I better suited with the comparitively priced HP's (HPE-510t/HPE h8z)?
I appreciate any advice you can give to point me in the right direction. I don't feel comfortable building my own system ( I've read that most of you recommend that). I just want to make sure I don't buy a desktop and find it crashing on me because it can't handle what I'm asking it to do. I figure anything is really going to be an improvement over what I've been using.
    Thanks again for your help,
    -Scott

XPS 7100: Wrong CPU (AMD is too slow), wrong video card (ATI), only 2 HDD's (too few), mini tower (too small), insufficient PSU, Dell (crippled BIOS and no overclocking), extravagant price. Those are the first minuses I can see on this system and no positives.
XPS 8300: same limitations as the 7100.
Look for a big tower, Intel i7-9xx or i7-2600K CPU, 16+ GB memory, nVidia GTX 460+ video card, Win7 64 Pro, room for at least three HDD's.
Avoid Dell and HP, unless they have a system with all the components in a single system as the base system. If you need to configure a system, they steal you blind on the add-ons. Where you can buy a HDD on every street corner for $ 80, Dell or HP charge you around triple that amount, around $ 240, where you can add memory for $ 40 per stick on every street corner, Dell and HP charge you far more.
If you don't want to build yourself, look at ADK for a custom build machine.

  • How to get premiere pro CS4 trial

few days back i downloaded premiere pro CS5 trial but due to low specifications it didnot work on my computer. so i need to get premiere pro CS4 trial but it is not available anywhere. how can i get it?
    please help me.

    Welcome to the forum.
As CS4 is no longer current, I kind of doubt that you will find the trial. You might try a site like ProDesign Tools, but most of their links are directly to Adobe's download site, so may not be of use.
I have not heard of any facility that maintains older trial downloads, but there are a few people here, who always surprise me with their "finds."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you buy one of the CS5 suites, you will get PrPro CS4 on the discs. You will be able to try that out for 30-days, and if you do not like it, Adobe will refund the purchase price. Remember, within 30 days.

how to I get my premeire pro off of my old pc laptop and onto my new iMac?

  • How to use Premiere Pro CS4 and AE together to stabilize a shaky video.

    Hello,
I know where to find and apply the stabilization tool in AE CS4, problem is I don't really understand compositions. I have a very very basic understanding of AE in general, more so the workflow and what some of the buttons here and there do.
Maybe this will be easier to answer.
I have my raw footage in Premiere Pro Cs4 right now, before I edit it I want to stabilize it. How to a connect PP and AE?
Will AE change the quality of my video? I need to keep it HD. I'm in a professional setting.
I do I take the stabilized video from AE and put it back into PP for further editing?
And finally, maybe this is redundant, but do I have to export out of AE or can I put the edited work back into PP for the rendering (exporting) process?
I can clarify on anything you need if I'm not making sense.
Thanks in advance for you the help!
    -Mark

The "Working with After Effects and Premiere Pro" page gives an overview of the ways to move data back and forth between Premiere Pro and After Effects, and it also includes links to a few basic video tutorials on the subject.
It sounds like you need to learn the basics of After Effects first. I suggest starting on this page.
