They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Simple inquiries regarding keylock and security.

    Hi,
I recently bought a Nokia phone, I first read the whole manual which comes with the product 3 times and I’m still discovering the phone but I still have few inquiries regarding keylock and security which the showroom didn’t mention.
To lock the keypad to prevent accidental or unwanted keypresses, I select Menu key then *, while for unlocking, the same step is required along with providing the lockcode which I already set in Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard. Nothing easy then this :robothappy:
Here are detailed questions as per guidelines.
    A) Question here is: what are the differences between “Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard” and “Menu > Settings > Security > Access codes > Change security code”??
after reading the manual, I now know that “phone > Security keyguard” is to simply lock the keypad with a security code decided here too, but what about “access codes > Change Security Code”? is it the same as “Security keyguard” (i.e. lock keypad with a code)? are they of any relation to each others?
In other words: I know when “Security keyguard” is required (lock keypad with a code), but what are the cases when “security code” is required?
    B) in “Security keyguard”, each time (that’s always) when we want to lock the phone (i.e set Security keyguard to ON) we are automatically prompted to set a password to be able to lock the phone (I’m 100% sure of this). So what is code 12345 useful for while we are always prompted to type a password each time we set the keyguard on! I’m afraid it’s not that clear in the manual. In other words When might this 12345 be used?
Is it used to unlock keypad for example, maybe no! because as I said each time we want to lock the phone with keyguard we’re prompted to set a code.
oh and how to change 12345 that’s if it’s of any use anyway?
I’m a newbie in mobile phones’ matters, so bare with my silly questions but I really don’t want to deteriorate the mobile phone now in holidays when careline is out of service.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

thanks to areef_apu i noticed the relation between “Security keyguard” and “Change security code” you said that the “Security code”12345 is used for “Keyguard security”!! wow that’s right. I got this wrong in my question since while I was learning about and activating“Security keyguard” it seems that I was accidentally using the code 12345 without any intention, which made me confused thinking that “security keyguard” code is decided at the same time while setting “security keyguard” while I didn’t know that I was actually telling it the already set security code and not typing a new one here!
So “Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard” is really related to “Menu > Settings > Security > Access codes > Change security code”. Simply said, for keypad lock, the screen asking us to type a code while activating the “Security keyguard” is Not asking us to decide a New code but it’s actually asking us the code already set in “Access codes > Change security code”. that’s the relation.
Thanks so much to both cjlim and areef_apu +1 Kudos point each this now makes sense for other newbies reading this since I’m newbie myself.

  • Resetting AppleID security questions

    Good Day
I have not forgotten my password and can access my account with no problem however i am having a problem authorizing my pc as it asks me to enter my ID and Password and once i have done that it then asks me to answer two of the three security questions i answered when setting up however i cannot remember them at all so now i would like to know if i can reset them in anyway. I have e-mailed apple support and all i got was i must reset my password and as you can tell by now that is not the problem i am having.
    Thanks

    HI,
As you know the password and can access your Account in various places then Start Here
This is the Apple ID Support page
It is a portal to create a new Or Login with an Existing Name.
    Choose Manage Account to Login.
Once you have logged in at the next page you then go to your account.
On the left is a Menu with Security and Passwords.
As you entered the page with your passwords you don't have to re-enter any details.
You can change the Answers to the Question your originally set or you can change both Questions and Answers  (I would not suggest changing Questions only as you would still need to remember the answers that you say you can't ast the moment )

  • Is my AppleID secure?

I have just received an unsolicited email, apparently send from <[email protected]> that reads:

    Dear Apple Customer,
To get back into your apple account, you’ll need to confirm your account .
It’s easy: Click the link below to open a secure browser window.
Confirm that you’re the owner of the account and then follow the instructions.
The link will expire 72 hours after this email was sent.

Questions? There are lots of answers on our Apple ID support page >
If you weren’t trying to reset your password or unlock your Apple ID, don’t worry ! your account is still secure and no one has been given access to it.
Most likely, someone just mistyped their own email address while trying to reset their password.

I have not been trying to change my ID and have not forgotten it. However yesterday I was browsing the Apple Store for Education, on the campus of the university where I work (using Ethernet - not wireless).
Does this mean that when I browse the the Apple Store for Education on that university's network, the connection is not secure?
NB I have not clicked on any of the links in the email and do not intend to.

It's a catch-all spam, not dependent on hacking your ID (though you could change your password to be doubly sure - see below). The domain of the sending address is apple-store.co.uk:

You should forward it as an attachment to [email protected] so that Apple can take some action.
You can change your Apple ID password at http://appleid.apple.com . If you have an iCloud account you should follow this procedure:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Go to http://appleid.apple.com . Sign in with your ID and click 'Password and Security'. Click 'Edit' next to your password. Save the change.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new password. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

  • Where exadata stands per regards to availability, security, and easy to use

    Dears,
I would like to have details on how exadata could ensure availability, security and storage performance. In other words I know that exadata represent both a database(11g2) and a hosting server for that database. How this hosting service and this configuration could be different from other existing configurations
    Thanks in advance
    Mohamed Houri

    >
But when the system come pre-configured ready to be turned on day one, already configured and secured by the Oracle team, isn't this a problem initself? The Oracle team knows more about the configuration than
the customer who has been delivred the exadata machine does? This is the reason there is documentation provided as part of the hand off. Any new system is, by definition, new and you'll know less about it until you start using it and get accustomed to its configuration and setup. This is the reason you shouldn't expect to put your new system into production immediately, but rather after you've tested it and become familiar with it.
Another question also came to my mind: when there is a problem within this machine can the local DBA/storage/OS team solve the problem without refering to Oracle? Will this not break a support SLA?I'm not sure how you are using the term SLA, but fixing your system yourself doesn't violate any support agreement. Your SLA is your service agreement with your customer and you need to do what you need in order to meet that.
That said, there are some things that you aren't allowed to do (i.e. installing software or making configuration changes on storage cells). But generally speaking, if your system is running normally and has some issue, the issue is more likely related to RAC or RDBMS and changing or fixing things there is within your control to remedy.

  • Regarding Configuring WS-security in Oracle Business Process Managers

    Hi All,
Actually I like to invoke couple of secure services running on seperate server. These services are secured using WS-security.So I am just wondering how to configure Oracle Business process Manager so that process bpel file uses the certificates.I could not find any relevant documentation Is there any documentation available which explains how to do this?
    I would appreciate your help.
    Kind Regards

i am not a newbie to networking. i have done ccna successfully. now i want to do gain some knowledge regarding the security of the networks.
i want to know which book i prefer?? or any other good advice..
    Regards

You don't get books dealing with ASP and MySQL but you can get books that deals with PHP and MySQL.  For example I have used this book (click on it to go to Amazon):
There are other books as well but this one gets you started quickly and then you can develop your skills buying something more advanced.
    Good luck.

  • Regarding Web services security.

Can I implement a database level username/password security for a web service.
So only database users can access the web service.is it possible?
Any implementation example or related document?
    Thanks!

    Hi Soni,
    Yes, you could.
Two options I can think of:
    - Program WS-Security for your specific web service
    - Use Oracle Web Services Manager
With respect to the latter: I believe there is no OWSM policy step to handle your requirement out of the box. OWSM comes with policy steps for file-based authentication as well as for authenticating against Active Directory or a generic LDAP directory.
In this case you could opt for the creation of a custom policy step.
    Hope this help.

  • Regarding Data Level Security in OBIEE

    Hi,
We are currently implementing Data level security in our project. We have created multiple groups in the repository and put business filters in the permissions tab for each of the groups. When a user belongs to more than one group then the backend SQL fired by the BI server has an OR condition between the business filters from different groups. Is there a way to force an AND condition between the filters passed from different groups?
    Thanks,
    Kartik

    Try this link
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/06/30/oracle-bi-ee-1013332-row-level-security-and-row-wise-intialized-session-variables/
If the business unit is a column then try this
Repository --> presentation Layer --> column --> properties --> permissions --> Give access to the user/group,for others disable the permission.
    Thanks
    Don

  • Thoughts regarding encryption & non-securely deleted files

Let's say you have a USB drive, non encrypted, from which you over the years have deleted a bunch of files - non-securely. Since you realize that the files are sensitive, you now choose to encrypt the drive with the right-click -> Encrypt function. Furthermore, you also set the trash can to always securely delete files from now on.
What worries me about this scenario are the old files that were deleted non-securely, before encryption: If someone would steal the drive and attempt to restore data that hasn't yet been overwritten, would those deleted files be accessible to that person? Or have the encryption effectively scrambled those old files as well?
I know that the best option is to do a 7-pass format and encrypt the drive and then move your files to it, but that isn't always an option (you might not have space to store files temporarily somewhere else, for example).
An other thing about "secure delete" which isn't really clear: Does the secure delete also overwrite previously deleted files or just the ones from the point in time when you turned on the setting?

If someone would steal the drive and attempt to restore data that hasn't yet been overwritten, would those deleted files be accessible to that person?
No. Every block on the drive will be encrypted, including free blocks.
