I don't know what you're asking. Is this "Step 4" to which you refer something from a tutorial? If so, which one?

[QUESTION] First Steps: Java ME SDK 3.0 AND NOKIA N95
Hi! this is my first post in the forums. I am a c# .net programmer and this is my first step to start programing mobile phones with Java ME.
I already downloaded and installed de Java ME SDK 3.0 and try the examples, then i build a sample and generate the jad.
After upload to my N95 it says that cant install the app because is for the N95 or is not supported....(I was thinking like winforms in .net... build install and run ....hahaha!)
but i found that every phone has its SDK that i must install to develop app.
So my question is
If i have the JME SDK 3.0 installed what i need to build any Nokia or Nokia N95 app. If is possible can you tell me the configuration that i need or maybe the steps to install the SDK from nokia to use in JME., apps, emulators, docs, etc.
PD: I want to start an app that tells me the location using the internal gps of the N95.
And sorry for my bad english.
Thanks!check if ME SDK is configured to MIDP 2.1. Also check whether N95 supports MIDP 2.1 or 2.0; if needed, change SDK build settings to MIDP 2.0. // this seem to be rather popular problem
...I want to start an app that tells me the location using the internal gps of the N95...Google for +"nokia n95 jsr 179"+ (jsr 179 is location API in Java ME).
If you plan to target only Nokia device(s), consider getting help at Nokia Java ME forums. -
The process of ordering shares from this online broker contains several separated steps for security purposes. One needs to enter the number of shares being ordered, the price limit and the online security password which is activated by entering the earlier amounts. My version of Firefox 17.0.1 running on Windows 7 stalls at that point. If I redo the order on Internet Explorer all is fine.
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us! -
any ideas on why itunes stops halfway through step 4 and closes?
I'd like an answer to this as well. The following message displays when I try to sync my Apple iPhone 4 with my iTunes program on my Macbook Pro. This issue is very frustrating. I hope Apple does something about it soon.

cant sync music from my pc to the phone step 4 gets stuck
Thanks for the help Rudegar but I still have the issue. Itunes does not recognize the phone in the Sync process. While I understand your original point that "what default behaviour one set the computer to do with usb devices connected don't have anything to do with itunes syncing". Do you know how to change the default setting so when I connect my phone via USB, I get the dialoug box to choose what action to take?

Question about calibrating battery
I have a question about step 5, +Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more+. First off, does it mean let the battery completely run out and turn off the computer, or are we supposed to turn it off. Second, what is the purpose of letting it wait 5 hours before turning it back on? Thanks
Tucker77 wrote:
I have a query regarding this, my Macbook went to sleep after draining the power last night (following its first full charge). I plugged it in to recharge at 5:30 this morning and over four hours later, it still hasn't charged, or at least the light is still orange.
For optimum calibration, does it matter if I use the Macbook while recharging or should it remain off? Should it take over four hours to charge up again?
Yes, it matters I would let it charge completely until the light changes to green.
As for the length for it to charge, 4 hours is about right, could be a little longer with a complete drain. Check out [apples battery page|http://www.apple.com/batteries> for more info. -
I am trying to backup my Itunes onto my external hard drive. I am at the step where I on Itunes, click on File ->Library ->Organize library. I am suppose to check mark both boxes there, the first being "Consolidate Files" & the second being "Reorganize files in the folder 'Itunes Media'. I am able to checkmark the first box but It won't allow me to check mark the second box, why? How can i fix this? Please help!
Well you must have made a mistake somewhere. The last instruction of step four reads:
When you've found your iTunes library folder, drag that folder to your external hard drive. This will begin the iTunes backup. The amount of time the backup will take depends on the size of your library. When the transfer is done, your backup is complete and your external hard drive can be disconnected.
Normally dragging content from to a new location on a different drive will result in a copy action which is what you were supposed to do. At a guess you somehow managed to move the iTunes folder. Then when you started iTunes it created a new blank library for you assuming it had just been installed rather that raising a warning.
Close iTunes. Rename the iTunes folder on the internal drive as iTunes (Empty) then copy the iTunes folder from the external back into the User's Music folder. Start iTunes. All should be well.
When you've made sure it all works please read my User Tip and use that method to backup in future. Since you already have a folder with the backup in place you can skip the "Make New" operation in the fourth step and simply choose the external folder.

My form has a list of yes or no questions. I want to use either cheboxes or radio buttons. Unfortunatly I can't make it work. When I check yes for one question, it marks all yes answers for all other questions. If I mark some radio buttons to answer, it unmarks later. Need immediate help!!!
Is it that you are using a PDF-based form? Did you copy and paste the Yes/No fields all the way down your form? If so, then all of the yes/no boxes are copies of each other and have the same name and properties in the PDF.
For example, if you had:
Question 1 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
Question 2 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
Question 3 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
Question 4 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
Then whatever answer you selected in Question 1 would populate down through the rest of the form.
Changing the Yes/No field properties in questions two through four would eliminate the problem.
I hope that helps,

Multiple Machine Render question
Alright, so I just realized that After Effects (I'm running CS3) can utilize multiple machine renderings. At first, I thought this would be great since my typical renders are anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. But, after much playing around, I realized that it only works for sequences.. which isn't much help because I export the majority of my work as DV Streams or MOV files! Is there any way I can get it to do formats other than image sequences or am I SOL?
I also considered buying a few moderate-end machines and putting together a small render farm in case I couldn't, but I wouldn't know where the best place is to start with something like that (I'd imagine determine what software works, but I can't find much info on that, really).for PC's only =====
i wrote my own dos scripts to setup network rendering (remotely start after effects engines, copy projects to a watchfolder, and setup RenderControlFiles, copy and install fonts, etc ... took me a while to write and set up and is really the property of the company I work for), but the basics are below and from my in-house help file. Works better for us than collecting footage, basically, just substitute local drive volume names with UNC names, save the project, submit to the watchfolder, in its own directory, and add an RCF text file (try collecting footage, an RCF file will be generated so you can see whats in it). The thing that took me longest to debug was to install required fonts remotely ... any way read the basics
THE FOUR BASIC REQUIREMENTS
The basic requirements for any software that can network render, are that
(1)
all participating computers are able to access the original source footage,
(2)
any required fonts are loaded and active on the participating renderers,
(3)
any plugins and codecs used are also installed and available, and
(4)
all rendered frames, ie, output are send to a common storage area; single frames sequences are the best output format, a single streamed format, like an AVI, MPEG, or Quicktime Movie cannot be created by more than one computer at one time. However if your render queue has multiple single file streams queued, multiple render slaves can render the multiple queued streams, with one slave rendering one of the streams at a time two or more render slaves cannot render the same stream at the same time.
SETTING UP YOUR PROJECT TO NETWORK RENDER
Source Footage Paths
The first problem in the below example is that all the source footage is referenced using local paths. The default network rendering method Adobe use is really best suited to archiving, wherein the footage is collected from the source computer and copied to a common server in a hierarchial tree structure. In this example the source footage is comparatively short, but still over 900mb long, so there is a time issue involved, a network traffic issue, a storage issue at the server end, a server management issue, and if the network render fails, or needs to be redone, this step will need to be repeated or the process hacked by an appropriately skilled person.
To network render, all source imagery should use a file path that can be seen by other computers on a network. The best method is to use UNC (universal naming convention) paths, ie \\computername\sharedvolume\foldername\foldername\imagename.
In the above example a badly pathed file N:\TV1 Promos\sas\sas1.aif could be made legal by re-pathing to \\regan\zone2\TV1 Promos\sas\sas1.aif assuming that zone2 is an explicitly shared volume.
TIP: you can create as many share points as you want. You could, for example create an additional share point N:regan\one2\TV1 Promos\sas and call it SAS so it appears as the share \\regan\SAS. Just right-hand click on the folder you want to share, select SHARING from the menu, create the new share and give it a meaningful name; on XP systems, you also need to specify read/write access permissions.
You can create a shortcut to this or any other share, leave it on your desktop, and that will save you time navigating to that point or typing out \ \ r e g a n \ s a s
Alternatively, you can highlight a network path in explorer, copy that text, and keep pasting it when subsequently specifying paths.
There are not limitations on how many share points you can create.
An further alternative method would be to use the administrative share path, \\regan\N$\TV1 Promos\sas\sas1.aif. Here the drive letter N: is replaced by \\regan\N$. This method is particularly useful where the volumes are not explicitly shared.
One other method is to map shared volumes or folders to a drive letter, but for this to work, the drive mapping must be consistant across all participating renderers, so you would have to run around these computers mapping network shares to drives on a per job basis as required, so it is not at really very practical.
After Effects 6.5 introduced a smarter way if the project is opened on another computer on the network, it will attempt to replace the locally specified footage paths, with network paths. Mostly it works okay, sometimes it doesnt. Footage that is sourced from mapped network drives, for example where W: drive refers to \\Gfxserver2\graphics2, will have problems.
The best way is to use the UNC paths from the begining of the projects construction, then there is never an issue, and the project will always be portable, but if you forget or cant be bothered, or think that using network rather than local paths is slowing you down, ...
1) save your project,
2) open your project on another machine
3) reload one of the missing footage files ... the rest should fill themselves in, if they dont they are probably on another drive
4) check the output is network pathed
5) save the project, and submit that version to the render farm
Ultimately, for this project to network render successfully, the source footage needs to be completely specified in a manner where it is accessable by any machine on the network, so use must be made of
\\computername\VolumeLetterDollarSign\foldername\foldername\imagename, or
\\computername\sharedvolume\foldername\foldername\imagename, or
\\computername\sharedfolder\imagename methods.
Output Footage Paths and Render Settings
Once the source files have been amended to include a full network pathname, the parameters for the render can be set.
STEP ONE
In the Render Queue window, firstly choose a single frame Output Module, such as TARGA or JPEG; a single file streamed format, like an AVI, MPEG, or Quicktime Movie CAN NOT be created by more than one computer at one time. However if your render queue has multiple single file streams queued, multiple render slaves can render the multiple queued streams, with one slave rendering one of the streams at a time two or more render slaves cannot render the same stream at the same time.
STEP TWO
In the Render Settings, make sure you turn off storage overflow and turn on skip existing frames so that once any frames that have been network rendered, those frames will not be rendered again by another machine.
STEP THREE
The destination for the outputted animation should include the full network pathname, so that all the outputted files end a up in the same place.
Warning: If local paths are inadvertently used here the rendered files could be scattered over any local hard drive of the machines that will be rendering the animation, and each rendering machine would not be able to determine which frames had been rendered by other machines, so each machine could end up rendering the entire sequence itself, it the drive letter exists on that rendering machine.
Again it doesnt really matter which of the network naming methods is employed; either
\\computername\VolumeLetterDollarSign\foldername\foldername\imagename, or
\\computername\sharedvolume\foldername\foldername\imagename, or
\\computername\sharedfolder\imagename will work.
STEP FOUR
The project with its network pathed source and output files specified, and render queue setup would then be saved. -
Hi -- I want to replace the hard disk in a MacBook that's running 10.5.8. I have a current TM backup.
I also want to upgrade it to 10.6 (SL), and I have the SL CD as well.
My assumption is I should first do the swap and then do the upgrade to SL.
Is the correct sequence to take out the old disk, then put in the new disk, then reboot, holding down a key (but which one?) to boot from the Time Machine disk? Then restore from the TM? Is there more to it than that?
Note that the old disk has a second partition w/ Windows installed on it. This is no longer required (nor is anything on that partition required). Am I correct that the restore from Time Machine will not re-configure/re-install such a partition?
If the above sequence is correct, then once the system is running again I would do the upgrade.
Alternatively, would it be better to upgrade to SL first -- and then swap disks?
I would appreciate some help -- thanks in advance! Here's what I do:
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive. Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure. You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing. Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
Destination entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume. Click on the Restart button. You should boot from the new drive. Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.
As an alternative, after the drive is replaced you can boot from the Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard from scratch:
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc. Insert the disc into the
optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the
"C" key. Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the
dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current. -

Hmm, older sup720s came with 64MB flash, which is insufficient for the later IOS images. There's, I believe, an upgrade kit to change your sup-bootflash to a (CF) sup-bootdisk, which can be much larger than 64 MB. Or, the sup720 has two external CF sockets, either of which can be booted from.
Do you need to upgrade your ROM? Probably not, but depending on what version your ROM image is, you might want to. You can review your ROM's known bug list and see if any are of concern.
What's the difference between bootflash and sup-bootflash? The former was the bootflash for the L2 engine, used when you run CatOS. The latter is used by the L3 engine, used by IOS. When running "native" IOS, the former isn't used for booting. -
Reloading everything back onto laptop after a disc erase due to grey screen - steps
1) I have had grey screen problem & have done start jo sox re install. Now I want to reload all my files from time capsule back onto my 17inch pro.
What are the steps
The mac17 has had full backup just before it stopped. Last piece of software loaded was a flash player update for YouTube videos .
But worked ok after that . But had an coloured spinning wheel later when tried to close program's. then after a power restart could only get a grey screen. Tried disc repair & got messages to say invalid record count & invalid node structure . Worker my way through recommended grey screen restarts & now doing re install of OS X
2) I have since bought a Mac Pro 13 with retina display - due to the 17 mac pros weight.
I want to reload all my files onto this from time capsule. Link both via iCloud .sabeque wrote:
4) make a new time machine backup with the fresh os and no data
This step is superfluous.
If reinstalling the OSX will allow you to make a Time Machine backup, do so.
Remember that the first thing you must do with a new HDD is to format it in Disk Utility>Erase to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Only then can you install the OSX and the data from Time Machine.
5) restore from the first time machine backup on the old disk. If this works, great, but im worried that if I had corrupt data on the old drive then when I restore from the old disk, it will bring all that corrupt data onto the new disk. In this case, I would restore again from time machine but this time from the one I did in step 4 when the disk was fresh and clean. I will have lost my apps and have to count my losses. Is this a good plan or will this taint the new disk if the old data is corrupt?
What makes you believe that you have corrupt data? Is the issue not the HDD? Step four only copies the OSX and NO user data. That has no benefit for you. All of you applications should be on the first Time Machine backup, assuming it is successful.

How do I interpret Step 5 of Apple's calibration instructions?
Apple provides instructions on calibrating the MacBook Pro battery at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1490
Step 5 says "Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more."
Do they mean, noting my use of commas:
Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep, for five hours or more.
or
Turn off the computer, or allow it to sleep for five hours or more.
If it's the latter that means I can proceed to step 6 immediately after turning it off?
And my second question about step 5, is how do I turn it off when it's asleep? (At the end of step 4 it's asleep). If you think it's missing a comma, in my opinion it would be missing two commas.
"Turn off the computer, or allow it to sleep, for five hours or more."
Or, maybe even parentheses:
"Turn off the computer (or allow it to sleep) for five hours or more."
You need to wait the five hours, regardless of method. (At least, that's my reading of it. The battery needs five hours of rest after calibration.)
I will ask that the Apple Knowledge Base article be altered for clarification. -
Partial Page Rendering - newbie question
I am a newbie to ADF and I am in the process of trying out the tutorial "Developing Ajax-Based User Interfaces with ADF Faces Rich Client Components" http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_56/jdtut_11r2_56.html
I have a question regarding Step 4. I am not very sure where to post this question, if this is not the correct forum, pardon me.
Under "Step 4: Implementing Partial Page Rendering" there is this following comment
In order to have a refresh of the Product Details when you select another row in the Product table, we need to set the Partial Rendering behavior. To do so, perform the following steps:
Similarly On Step 3, sub step 26 states "Finally, double-click on any of the rows in the product table. Notice that the Product Details pane does not reflect the change in the selected product. To implement this synchronization, we need to add partial page rendering functionality."
Question: even before I tried any of the changes mentioned in step 4, I am finding that the product details pane does show information related to the product selected on the panel collection (in other words it is displaying the master detail information automatically). What am I missing here? As per the training document it is supposed to work only after implementing changes mentioned in step 4. Can one of you kindly point out if this is a mistake in documentation or if I have misunderstood the statement?
Thanks
A SreedharFrank,
Thank you very much for the quick turnaround; I appreciate it.
Yes, I am using what seems to be the latest version of JDev (11.1.2.3.0); and yes the ChangeEventPolicy for the iterator is set to "ppr". Thank you for pointing that out.
Does that mean ppr is standard for most components (when I say components, I mean adf tables, button's etc), don't we need to add any special events to get that to work?
I just wanted to see, what will it due if the ChangeEventPolicy for the iterator is set to "None"; made the change saved it, there were two iterators I changed the "ChangeEventPolicy" on both to none; saved it and ran the page. It worked same as before; I was expecting it will not load the corresponding data at the child level, but it did. can you kindly point out what is wrong.

<variableIterator id="variables"/>
<iterator Binds="root" RangeSize="25" DataControl="StoreProducts" id="StoreProductsIterator"
ChangeEventPolicy="none"/>
<accessorIterator MasterBinding="StoreProductsIterator" Binds="products" RangeSize="25" DataControl="StoreProducts"

I have created sample report based on your question. Steps are listed below:-
Sample query is modified to get one more Column rowid as shown in below SQL query:-
select *,row_number() over(partition by name, date order by date )rowid from
SELECT 'bob' name, '1/1/2015' date ,5 value
UNION
SELECT 'jane' , '1/1/2015' , 7
UNION
SELECT 'jim' , '1/1/2015' , 9
UNION
SELECT 'bob' , '1/2/2015' , 2
UNION
SELECT 'jane' , '1/2/2015' , 5
UNION
SELECT 'jim' , '1/2/2015' , 5
UNION
SELECT 'bob' , '1/2/2015' , 4
)T
Now Create the matrix report rows --> Name
Columns---> Date
Detail---> Value
After creation of matrix, just go to the Group Properties of Column group and add as shown below
After this setting , run the report, it will give result as shown below:-
RDL Code for reference:-
