Question : Init delta in ODS

Hello,
I have a doubt regarding init delta in ODS...
I have done following steps :
1)delete ODS and cube data (right click on ODS -> delete data)
2) did full load in ODS and to cube till date ....
3) delete Initialisation from infopackage schedular by making forced red...
Now i am getting different suggestions from my seniors that....
a> I should do repair full request in ODS ...before starting init delta....
b> No need to do repair full request -> just start init without data transfer -> it will give error in activation of data -> manually activate the ODS data -> update it to cube...
Can anybody please tell me what i should do....?

Please follow the steps...
1) Delete the data in ODS and CUBE completely.
2) Do Init without data transfer to ODS first from source system.
3) Then do the full load into the ODS from source system....
4) Follow the same steps from ODS to Cube as well.
Do the init without data transfer to CUBE from ODS and then do the full load
from ODS to CUBE...
Believe me this will work fantastic.....

I'm trying to do Init delta load from 0FIAR_O03 ODS into 0FIAR_C03 InfoCube in PRD env. by InfoPackage "Initialize with delta transfer (with data transfer)". Immediately after the load was started I got error
"Error occurred in the data selection"
with details
"Job terminated in source system --> Request set to red".
Where are no any short dumps. There are 1 activated init load in ODS - nearly 6 500 000 records.
Any ideas about error? And the way I can load data?

I faced the similar error when I tried to load data from an ODS which contained huge amount of data to a Cube. Even in your case the volume of data is more (around 6.5 million records). The error could be due to the table space issue, please contact your Basis team to check if enough table space exist for both the data targets.
Meanwhile you may also check the RFC connection of the Myself source system.
You can replicate the DSO datasource once and then reactivate the transfer rules using the program RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.
Try load with a small amount of data with a Full load option and then with a delta option..

I got error while was trying to load Init data by InfoPackage from ODS to Cube:
Error 8 when starting the extraction program
Message no. R3019
Diagnosis
Error 8 occurred when starting the data extraction program.
System Response
The data extraction is terminated.
Procedure
Check for relevant OSS Notes, or create a problem message of your own.
There is no any OSS notes regarding this error, I checked forums - non of the answers didn't work for me.
Additional info:
I got this error after canceling Init Load to the same Cube (by changing load Status to red). After that I deleted all data from Cube, also did reset Delta Init in InfoPackage. I suspect this job cancellation caused this problem. How can I repair it?

Question on delta from ODS

I've a question.
Lets say I'm doing a full load to a ODS (say ODS1). From this ODS1, can I do delta loads to say another ODS2 or a Cube?

Whenever we load data to an ODS..........data will first com in the Activation Queue............after activation of the ODS........data will moved in the Active table and the Change log table.......Now suppose a particular value is changed......that that change will overwrite the value in the Active table............and the changes will get recorded in the Change Log table.........

So ......first when u did Full upload............all the data loaded in both the Active table and the Change log table.......after that u hav'nt done any changes.........right?......So in ur case no of records in ACtive table and the Change log table is same..........U can cross check it.........Go to the Manage screen......Contents tab >> there Check the Active table : Active data..............and Change Log table : Change log.............there click on No of Records.........

Init delta from ods to two cube seperately

Hello,
Can we run init seperately two times for the two different cubes from a ODS which is used as an staging ODS?
ODS1-> for cube1 initialise delta with data transfer
ODS1-> for Cube2 initialise delta without data transfer
is it possible to do like this?

I think it should not have been possible to do initializing with data transfer and without data transfer for the same data target.
I mean init with data transfer to cube 1 and init without data transfer to cube 2 from ODS.
Not to the same Cube. Will it be possible like this?

I got a query where the scenerio goes like this,
Data loading from ods to infocube. Let us suppose in ods settings, i have selected the option Update data targets from ODS object automatically. Then my question is whether it will be a init delta or full upload.....please explain the scenerio.

This will be dependent to the load in ODS,
if the load is init in ods the further upload will be init.
If the load to ods is delta the further upload will be delta

Question on Delta Init Loads

Hi All,
I have a basic question on Delta Inits. I am a beginner in BW and would truly appreciate any input.
At my company, we currently are doing delta loads on the cube 0RT_C35 (Material Movements). They did the Delta Inits prior to that.
Now if we were to add new fields to the cube and need to populate data to the new fields from the beggining, how do I go about doing it..?
Should I delete the Delta Init requests and redo the Delta Inits..? What will happen to the Delta loads that are running daily then..?
Can someone please give me the steps that I need to follow in a sequence.
Like I said, it might be a basic question..but I am not familiar with this process.

I will not be doing it today based on the priority of the tasks..but this is something I will have to do eventually in the next 1-2 weeks. I will definitely let you know how it goes.
So once the mapping and everything is in place and is ready to be loaded, bascially I need to delete data from the datatarget, put the delta job on hold, reinit the delta requests and then I should be able to do the delta jobs again right..?

The other issue is that there are probably 25 Delta inits that they did based on the number range for the Material Nbr. But they have only 1 delta. So does the delta job cover the data for all the Delta Init requests..?

Question on Deltas after Init and Full load

We have an ODS X pushing data to two cubes A & B. ODS X data is initialized to Cube A long back and deltas are loading every day. Now We have recently created Cube B and made a fulll load from ODS X and loading the Deltas from ODS X with same info package we are using to load the deltas in to cube A. Do we get any data inconsistencies if we load like this ? Do I need to make a new init for Cube B to get proper deltas ? I'm hoping that Deltas will automatically take care of reversal in Cube B too...Please advice.

This looks fine, since u have already done full load from X to B, and currently loading delta to both A n B , it is fine, no need for new init.

Delta and Full Load question for cube and ODS

Hi all,
I need to push full load from Delta ODS.
I have process chain.... in which the steps are like below,
1. R/3 extractor for ODS1 (delta)
2. ODS1 to ODS2 (delta)
3. ODS2 to Cube ---> needs to be full load
Now when i run process chain by further processing automatically ODS2 does init/delta for Cube.
How can i make it possible for full load ??
can any one guide anything in this ?

Hi,
1. R/3 extractor for ODS1 (delta) : This is OK, normally you can put the Delta InfoPack in Process Chian
2. ODS1 to ODS2 (delta): It automatically flow from ODS1 to ODS2 (you need to select Update Data automaticall in the Targets at the time of ODS creation)
3. ODS2 to Cube ---> needs to be full load :
This you create a Update rules from ODS1 to Cube then Create InfoPackage in between ODS2 and Cube then do full loads. You can delete the data in the CUbe before the load ann dthen do Full load to Cube.
Note: In ODS2 don't select Upadate Data autmaticlly to Data Targets

Is it posible a init delta running package by package( from ods to ods update rule) like in the datasource (Load in ods package by package)

Hi,
I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly. You want to do the delta init with several InfoPackages with non-overlapping selections, correct?
You cannot do this directly with ODS objects as DataSource, but you can do full loads and after these full loads you do a delta init without data transfer.
You have to ensure that you load all data with your full loads and that no ODS activation is going on until the whole process has finished.

Init Delta for 0FIGL_O06 required?

Quick question for everyone.
I need to delete and re-load data in 0FIGL_O06 due to some missing deltas (which are no longer avail in PSA). If I look back at the requests in the ODS now (done by my predecessor) I don't see an INIT delta...just delta loads starting several months ago.
If I need to delete and reload do I first need to run an INIT DELTA load?

Hi Barnaby,
I guess there are so many requests that you are not able to see the Init request in the display. Change the display selection criteria and see if you can see the Init request. The delta requests can not run without init request. Hope this helps.

Doubt on Deltas from ODS to CUBE

Hello Experts.
I have few Questions on Deltas. from ODS to CUBE
I have 3 Cubes ( X, Y, Z ) which gets Deltas from ODS ( A ) . i have extended the cube X so i have deleted data and Reloaded it. I have to do Deltas from ODS to Cubes from now on.
in the ODS manage ( there is Tick all connected data Targets to this Request is been Delted now ).
if i reinitalize the delta with out Data Transfer. will only the data which come now on to ODS( A ) will be going to cubes( X,Y,Z ) are all the data in ODS will go to Cubes.
Please Advice me.

Hi,
When you are loading the delta from the ODS, the data is taken from the changelog. These records are the + and - records generated as a result of the new data loaded and activated in the ODS. So, if there were any changes made to the existing records these will flow to the cubes as well.
If you do the init without data transfer, you need to couple that with the full load to create the initial status of data in the cubes.

i need information on how to do deltas on ods. i did two full uploads for ods 0fiar_o03 and then infocube. i need to do delta for this ods and cube. Please give me the steps to do delta for ods and infocube.

How are you doing the full load to ODS 0FIAR_O03. Are you giving any selection criteria.
In order start pulling Delta to the ODS you need to do a Full repair request or else you need to delete the full load requests from ODS and reload using Initialization.
Anways you are loading full load request in to the ODS, so it would be better to load Init Load next time and then start picking up deltas.
Delta to the Infocube is easily possible, by selecting Init in ODS after deleting all the data from the infocube. After that only the delta records from change log will be taken to the Cube from the ODS.
The delta to the cube can be performed irrespective of whether you performa Full load or Delta load in to the ODS.

Update ST/PI Plugin - Init delta queue

Hi guys,
Yesterday, our basis team, asked me to clean all extraction queue in BW. They will update a plugin (ST/PI) that control the connection between the enviroment BWP and ECP.
I have to delete all the queues in transactions SMQ1, RSA7 and empty the setup table using LBWG. The note 1081287 will give a better explanation about this.
My question is:
Will I have to restart all the LIS extraction again with full update?
For example, to start the datasource 2LIS_08TRTLP, I have to execute the transaction VTBW and after execute an init delta in BW with all data.
Is there a way to start this delta without carry all the data again?
I wanna carry only the new data to BW to update the cubes

Hello Ralf,
They asked me to do these steps:
1 - Call transaction SMQ1 and check whether all queues in all clients (client = '', queue name 'MCEX') have been processed. To process the queues, start the collective run report for each application in the displayed clients. If you no longer need the data in the BW system, deactivate the relevant extraction queues and DataSource in the LO cockpit (transaction LBWE) and delete the queue entries in transaction SMQ1.
2 - Before the upgrade, delete the contents of the setup tables. Execute report RMCEX_SETUP_ENTRIES to find out which setup tables still contain entries. You can use transaction LBWG to delete the contents of the setup tables for all clients.
If I delete the contents of the setup tables using LBWG transaction, Will I have to restart all the queues again? Will I lost data?
